Green vertical bar scanning my iphone 5 screen

A vertical green bar continues to move back and forth across my screen, in a scanning motion. It does not happen all the time. If I close the app that is running the bar goes away. But if I do nothing the green bar will not stop nor go away. I have done everything to try to fix it except restore my phone. That will be my last option because restoring an iPhone is a nuisance.

Since this problem persists after Restore, this is a hardware problem. This will be covered by the 1 year Warranty and AppleCare both. You only need to bring the iPhone to Apple, but other supporting information such as the box are not necessary, but taking won't hurt. Make Genius reservation or set up Service and send or take to Apple for resolution under Warranty.

  • Randomly a blue bar scans across the screen when apps are open, how can I stop that?

After updating a blue bar scans across the screen. It does it in most of my apps and even when viewing my pix. This never happened before the latest update I installed. It's very annoying. Does anyone have an idea to stop this blue bar?

I have a very strong feeling that this has something to do with the government requesting the data of 5,000 apple customers. This blue bar scans my screen too coincidentally. While Im on my facebook messages, text messages, recent calls, even on snapchat. On the other discussion, people have cleared their whole phone and it still happens. Your best shot would be calling Apple

  • Imac startup issues- green vertical lines changing to grey screen

Help!  I think my 27" i7 iMac just died!
Yesterday morning, I had a kernal panic while using Safari.  Restarted, ran disk utility twice.  A bunch of "library shoyuld be r- instead of -rw" type errors that could not be repaired were found both times.
After second round of computer restart/disk utility, the computer started displaying green lines running vertically down the grey screen.
After around a minute and a half, the screen became grey only, no green lines- no apple logo.
I attempted to restart holding down the shift key, I saw the startup/repair process "kick in" (the horizontal repair bar running across the bottom of the screen).
Once that was finished, I got about a minute and a half worth of "spinning cursor" and then a pretty blue-lined screen (of death)
(NOTE--bright white lights are flash from camera- not on screen)
I cannot access anything now.  I know that I am running whatever the current version of OS 10.8X is now.
I am stuck- anybody got any ideas?

I have to have my serial number to give them to start the call.  I have no way to access the serial number on the computer because I cannot advance past the grey/blue screen to access it.  Is there a way to get the serial number on this computer off of the hardware itself?
Look on the bottom of the stand, Apple used to print them there I don't know if they still do or not. Also if you have the original box it's printed on that too.
In addition if you click about this Mac and click the version of OS X installed a couple of times the serial number will appear. In addition you can run System Information and get the serial number there too.
Finally it's not going to do much good to call Apple, you need to take the machine in for repair at your local Apple Store or AASP. I suspect your graphics card has failed.

  • IMac will not boot, green vertical lines on screen

My iMac 27" purchased in 2012 is running Mavericks OS.  I did a software update last week, and switched on the machine for first time since then, today.
I get 4 or 5 green vertical bars down the start-up screen with the apple logo and timer running.  The screen then goes to a grey screen and just hangs.
Tried safe boot and nvram clear but did not work.  Will try again this evening.

  • Green vertical lines in 3dmark03 and Temple of Elemental Evil with ti4200 VTD8x (ms-6712)

    Hello,
I was wondering if someone has any idea why I have the following problem:
I purchased an MSI ti4200 VTD8x (MS-6712) video card a little while ago.  I managed to install it with no problems and everything seems a-okay except for specific situations.  I installed the game Temple of Elemental Evil and when I tried to play it, everything seems to work except I get green vertical lines over the entire screen while playing.  Does anyone know what is causing this?
I tried 3dmark03 and I get the same thing on certain parts of the screen during the tests.  E.g. during the first test (the WWII aircraft battle) I get vertical green lines just on the parts of the screen where the exhaust from the engines should be.
    Any ideas?
    Here are my specs:
    Athlon XP 1800
    MSI KT4V-L m/b
    512 megs generic ddr333 ram
    Winxp pro
    DirectX 9
what else do you need to know?
    Thanks in advance,
    Gerby

What is the difference between DirectX apps and OpenGL/SDL apps?  How can I tell the difference?
CPU and ram are not overclocked (again, I don't know how).
I just installed the latest drivers from Nvidia (v45.23) and still have the same problem in 3dmark03.  I also used Driver Cleaner 2 to clean up the old driver files before installing the new driver.
3dmark03 and temple of elemental evil are so far the only apps where I have seen this.
Also, I'm not sure if this has anything to do with it but in 3dmark03 I get very low frame rates in the "Battle of Proxycon" and "Troll's lair" game tests as well (4-10 fps).
Have I not got my BIOS setting correctly configured, maybe?
    Thanks again,
    Gerby

  • I inadvertantly dropped my iphone 3 and now have a white screen with green vertical lines to the right.  It won't sync with itunes due to an error. What can I do?

I inadvertantly dropped my iphone 3 and now have a white screen with green vertical lines to the right of the screen.  It won't sync with itunes due to an error. What can I do?

Basic troubleshooting from the User's Guide is reset, restart, restore (first from backup then as new).  Try each of these in order until the issue is resolved.
If it does not resolve the issue, the device is permanently damaged and will require replacement.

Hold down the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears

  • I dropped my iPhone 5s and white vertical bars problem

    Hey all,
Recently today I dropped my iPhone 5s and white vertical bars started to appear in the right hand side of my phone... Do I just need to get my screen replaced or is there more to the problem?

Apple doesn't replace the display on the 5s, only the 5 and the 5c. Probably wouldn't matter anyway. The damage is probably more extensive than just the display.
Make an appointment at the genius bar. A replacement is $269 if you don't have AppleCare+

    Hi christinehedden,
If you are having an issue with your iPhone being unresponsive and showing vertical bars on the display, I would suggest that you troubleshoot using the steps in this article -

    Specifically -
If you see lines, missing sections, discoloration, or poor image quality
Try to restart your device. If you can't restart, reset your device.
If restarting or resetting doesn’t fix the issue, restore your device.
If you still see the issue after you restore, contact Apple Support.

  • A cursor is displaying where I clicked mouse on the Firefox screen. If, I clicked on a page or a link in a page, a cursor pointer(vertical bar is blinking).

Hi, Hello, Sir/Madam, I'm a Firefox user from India. My problem is,
"Whenever I opened Firefox browser, and clicked on a page in the browser(even the start-up home page), a vertical bar starts to blink in the screen, even if I used tab button, to move over the link, the vertical bar appearing also moves accordingly. This problem I'm facing from yesterday(29.10.2012)".
Could you please tell me how to resolve this issue?

    In addition to the above:
You probably have switched on caret browsing.

  • Black vertical bar with lines on Macbook pro screen Appeared out of nowhere

I was working on my computer late at night. Like always.
I went to bed, and left the computer on in it's screen saver , as I always do.
When I woke up I had a black vertical bar on the screen about 1 1/2 inch thick with some flickering lines next to it.
here is what it looks like: http://www.talkcitee.com/ourspaceimages//2coolcode/2coolcode.jpg
I don't believe this to be a memory problem, I can take snapshots of the full screen, and I can hook up an external monitor with no problem. Also restarded PRAM plenty of times, etc.
But this black bar appeared out of nowhere. As if one way my screen decided it was going to blow out on me out of nowhere. I've had this MacBook for 2 years.
Question is, do you think the problem is:
    a) the screen
    b) connection / short problem to the screen inside the macbook
I hope it's B , because they told me it would cost $800 to replace the screen which is stupid cus I can get a new macbook pro for less than that.
I think there is a connectivity problem with the hardware , possibly a short, or something messed up with the wires or pins that link to the screen.
I noticed after repeatedly opening and closing the macbook, there were some changes in the small flickering lines next the big bar, and some of them turned solid black.
Has this happened to anybody else before?

Usually what happens is that over time the cable comes loose from the back. This happens because the enclosure within the hinge housing is quite tight and the LVDS cable has little room to move around. Because of the frequent opening and closing on the lid, the cable starts to move out of place try opening and closing it a few times and push it back very gently. You might see the line disappear or decrease slightly.
