Greeting cards and Elements

I'm thinking of purchasing photoshop elements 3.0. I have 2 questions-
1. Will there soon be a 4.0 elements? Should I wait to purchase, or did 3.0 just come out? (I noticed there's a windows 4.0 elements version)
2. Can you design greeting cards with this Photoshop Elements software? iphoto seems very limiting on what you can do with greeting cards- adding text, design on back, etc. If Elements doesnt do this, can anyone suggest a good software application for greeting cards, cd cases, etc.
thanks!

Well, it looks like PE4 will eventually be available for mac as well, but they won't say when:

Glad you're enjoying printshop, although I don't know of anything that comes standard with PCs that takes its place, not these days. I find I need to buy at least as much software for my pc as my mac.

  • HT204364 How do I make different greeting cards and send them to the same address in a bulk - not having to pay $3.99 shipping for each card

In Iphoto, I would like to produce a bunch of greeting cards with different pics for different people and I would like all these cards to be sent to my home address in one shipment.
The way I understand it, I can only prodce one card and order multiple copies of the same card.
I am looking for a way not to spend $0.99 + $3.99 (shipping)....
    Can this be done?
Or is there an app that allows that?
Or how can I save each card and have them printed somewhere else?
    Thanks!

Not really because the format is an odd size and when you save it as a pdf file there's a white border around the card.
There are 2 tutorials on how to print them yourself if you have a 3rd party image editor that supports layers or Pages from iWork: iP06 - Printing a iPhoto Greeting Card and iP07 - Printing a iPhoto Greeting Card to Standard Stock Sizes.  Apple has made it difficult to print them borderless unless the card color is the same as the card stock.

  • How to create greeting cards  in elements 7

I need to know how to create greeting cards that would fit with this layout I attached this one below. I am new to this so learning how this works.
    Thanks for your help

This site has a few greeting card tutorials
    http://www.redrivercatalog.com/cardshop/tuts1/index.htm.
I have also used their greeting cards and envelopes and have always been satisfied with their products.
    I don't know exactly what size your photo is but what I do is;
make a new document the size of the photo plus 1/4-inch all around for a border.  Double this if the card is a half-fold card.
I add a new layer and use the pencil tool mark where to divide the card in half (where I will fold the card), and to mark the 1/4 inch border on the front.  I use the grid (View>Grid).  I make any more marks I might need.  Just remember to keep it all on a new layer and turn it off before you print.  Very annoying to print your card and see your markings!!
Since I want them to fit in an envelope, I use whatever size I need to fit and make the images fit the card.
I hope this has been of some help to you.  I really enjoy making cards!

Can I create a greeting card in Elements 10?

I see another thread of yours that I just replied to (regarding an issue you're facing with Greeting Card feature). Please follow up there: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1103360?tstart=0

  • Printing greeting cards on elements 9

I cannot succssfully print a greeting card on elements 9.  I have finally arrived at the conculsion that duplex printing is not possible.  So I have been trying to print without the duplex feature enabled.  The problem is when the page prints out the picture takes up the whole page - how do I shrink it to make it look like a greeting  card?

Using one of the guides under, "Create?" I don't think those were done with duplex printing in mind (at least when doing home projects).
Could be a printer driver issue in regards to it printing too big. Can you preview before you print? Are the settings correct?

  • Valid Size not available for this Creation (Greeting card only) - Elements 10 for Mac

I purchased Adobe Photoshop/Premiere Elements 10 for my MAC and am getting "VALID SIZE NOT AVAILABLE FOR THIS CREATION" when I try to create a GREETING CARD only.  All other options in CREATE work.
I have read other forums on here and have tried everything they have said and it still does not work.  I have tried:
opt, cmd and shift to delete preferences
    uninstalled and reinstalled
performed updates on both my MAC and the program
Can anyone PLEASE suggest other solutions to this problem?  Perhaps I am doing something wrong.  Thanks!

Hi - My file structure is somewhat different than the file structure that you describe in the first part of your note (My system is Windows XP with Service Pack 3).  This is what my file structure looks like:
        C:/Program Files/Adobe/Elements 10 Organizer/locales/en_US
             >application_swfs
             >Plug-Ins
             >Suppport Files
No Creation Graphics folder, no Kodak Gallery Folder, no files with the name E9_preview_photocard_1(or2).jpg.
I perfromed a hard drive search on filename E9_preview_photocard* and found these files under:
         C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Adobe\Photoshop Elements\10.0\Locale\en_us\CreationGraphics\local
I performed a hard drive search on Kodak Gallery and found the file under:
         C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Adobe\Photoshop Elements\10.0\Locale\en_us\CreationGraphics\Kodak Gallery
This Kodak Gallery folder contains 10 files, 2 of which appear to be related to Greeting Cards.  These are 5x7_adobe_folded_cards and 5x7_adobe_folded_cards_zoom
Regarding the 235x120 greeting files, I search and found these under
         C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Adobe\Photoshop Elements\10.0\Photo Creations\photo layouts
    NOW WHAT???
    thanks

  • Setting margins for Greeting Cards and centering image

When we try and set up printing a greeting card from iPhoto 6 on a portrait card the image is always too close to the right hand edge, i.e. there is a white margin between the image and the fold - and this margin is larger than the margin on the right hand (outer) edge of the image. How can we centre the image keeping it on the right hand side of the greeting card?
We tried using a custom paper from page setup - but the custom size dropped off the menu when we went into the print menu.
    Thank you.

    Dai the dig:
Welcome to the Apple Discussions. If you have a 3rd party editor that supports layers you can print a card without any border. Look at Tutorial #8.
    Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • How do I find folded greeting cards in Elements 10?

I'm using elements 10 but don't see any folded greeting cards, only flat.

Are you asking about video transitions like turning the pages of a photo book? Where are you seeing the 'flat' greeting cards?
[EDIT] Photoshop Elements has greeting card features including Folded. If that is what you are looking for you will get better advice from the Photoshop Elements  forum.

  • How to e-mail Greeting Cards created in Elements

I would like to be able to create Greeting Cards in Elements 11 and then e-mail the cards.
    I this possible?
    Sheila

There are multiple ways to do it.
    1) Create a Greeting card in PSE Editor. Once done with editing click on File->Export Card and choose PDF/JPEG and save it on your hard drive and mail it as attachment.
    2) Create a Greeting card in PSE Editor. Once done with editing click on File->Export Card and choose PDF/JPEG and save it on your hard drive and mail it as attachment. Import in your Organizer and choose Share->Email or PDF Slideshow etc.
I am hoping that you would like person to see th card on mail body itself so try Share->Photo mail also and probably JPEG should be fine here
    Hope it helps.
    Thanks,
    Garry

  • When I print a greeting card, it comes out as 2 separate pages and not afolding card--why?d

When I try to print out a greeting card, it comes out as 2 separate sheets and not as a card that opens when unfolded.  Where am I going wrong? Thanks. Mac

Actually you can't.  When you print directly from iPhoto you will need to print to a 8 x 10 borderless paper size.  That will produce the card with a white border on each size which can be trimmed off after printing. This screen shot shows how the card will print on 8" x 10" stock:
This is because the stock size for the card is 10 x 7 and no printer supports 10 x 7 borderless printing.  These two tutorials describes how to print the card if you have a 3rd party image editor that can handle layers or have Pages from iWork: #8 - Printing a iPhoto Greeting Card and #8a - Printing a iPhoto Greeting Card to Standard Stock Sizes.

  • Printing Greeting cards

I wish to print my own cards using iPhoto 11 (9.1.1). I have chosen a theme and layout but I cant print the pastel-colored borders and patterns, only the photos and the text actually print.
    What am I doing wrong?

You will have a problem aligning the front and back of the cards when printing them manually. To get the front and back in register you need to use a 3rd party editor that handles layers.  These tutorials describe how: #8 - Printing a iPhoto Greeting Card and #8a - Printing a iPhoto Greeting Card to Standard Stock Sizes.
Try the following:  Do a Print ➙ PDF ➙ Save PDF to iPhoto.  A jpeg image file of each page will be created and imported into iPhoto.
See if they are correct as far as color, etc.  Then you can follow the tutorials to print to your card stock.

  • Greeting Card Design Program

I design greeting cards and I currently am searching for a new program to use. I want something that will make it easy to input my sketches, pictures and illustrations that I have drawn and clean them up/add color ect. What would be the best and more importantly easiest Adobe program to do this in? I just downloaded the trial version of illustrator and am thinking that it is more complicated than I need as I am not trying to draw something on my computer just clean up drawings that I already have.
    Thank you.

I need to turn my completed drawings into a computer illustration without having to draw the whole thing again on the computer (which is what I've been told is what you basically have to do with illustrator.)  Since there is a huge learning curve with Adobe I want to be sure that I am going to be learning the right and best program for what I need.
The file would ultimately be changed into JPG
