Grey bars in safari

Hi guys
does anyone know how to get rid of the bottom and top grey bars when in safari on the iphone.... they take up to much screen...
is there a way to hide them and show them when you need them?

Not in Safari, no. There's an App Store app called Edge Browser that does that:

sometimes when i open a new safari page on the very bottom of it there is a grey bar that tells me the url or the name of the site when my mouse is over a link or clickable item.. it usually isnt there and my question is how do i get it to stay there.. i like it.. thx.

Grey bar on top of page onYouTube ios safari.

Ok, so suddenly I have a big ugly grey bar on top of the page when I try to look at youtube on safari on the ipad.
The grey bar is displaying the YouTube app icon, with a button to open the app ( because I have the app installed, I imagine it would say install if I didn't.)
Now if I wanted to use the app, guess what, I would. I prefer to look at youtube on my browser.
The problem is that on the grey bar at the top left corner is a tiny (X) button to dismiss the grey bar, which I would very much like to do, but it is impossible because I cannot press the (X) because it is positioned in such a way that its like there is no button there. I tried repeatedly to close it, instead, it just keeps opening the YouTube app, which I don't want to do.
Is this bar going to remain on safari all the time when I want to look at youtube?
I don't understand why I'm being pushed to use the app. I know I have it, I don't need reminding, I'm choosing not to use it, i prefer safari version to app, why is safari doing this?
I feel like Apple is trying its hardest to annoy everyone and ruin what was a slick seamless service before Steve jobs left the game.
There are several other little annoyances like this that I can't even be bothered to get into, all beginning immediately after Steve was out of the picture.
Meanwhile, chrome browser for ios is displaying everything beautifully and is becoming my main browser on ipad.
Are they trying to push me toward the Google phones and tablets, because it's working.
Does anyone know how to dismiss this irritating grey bar?

Grey overlay using safari

using latest safari, i get a grey overlay with info in the lower right hand corner that cannot be accessed

IPhone ios 8.1.3 PDF sits on grey screen in Safari

Anyone else having a problem on latest iOS with links to some PDF's only sitting on the grey screen in Safari?
I have waited a few minutes to see if it was loading/rendering...but nothing happens. I can even tap and see the Open In... options but tapping on it doesn't produce an action. I checked in the address bar and the address ends in xx.pdf so I don't think its embedded.

I Think I have solved this.
I had restrictions on for Safari to Limit Adult Content. Unfortunately this seems to keep any PDF link in Safari from loading. When I turned that setting off, all worked like usual. I'm not satisfied completely but that is how it works for now.

I've had my macbook pro for about 2 years and any time i would type into the search bar of safari it would always come up with a google search. recently it is coming up with a yahoo or bing search and not google. my settings for safari have it set to google as the default search engine so I'm not sure why this is happening. Can anyone help me fix this?

When you go to search something in your search bar , and you click in the search bar at the top , a drop down menu should appear when it gives you suggestions on smart search right ? , well within those list of suggestions in the search bar their should be a little magnifying glass icon in the corner , click on that and another drop down box will appear, then you can choose your search engine preference e.g. bing , google , yahoo etc. click on your preference and it will use that search engine when you search in your search bar. I'm hating all this blank space. Plus, I work with many open windows and am constantly copying and pasting links into the address bar in Safari, so it works better for me to have a longer address bar. I've already poked around in Preferences and the Customize Toolbar, but maybe I overlooked something. Does anyone know if this can be changed?

Yes. I tried deleting the spacers, moving the spacers, removing and re-adding the address bar, and nothing. All it does is add blank space to the end (And actually that picture got cut off. There's space on the right side too). I tried adjusting the space, but I don't think I can do that either?

Google search bar in safari

a not very serious but annoying little problem i have here.. all other websites display fine, but when i do a google search using the bar in safari i get it all back in some foriegn language. going to google.com and doing the same search it's all in english.. short of learning russian i'mnot sure what to do here.
using lucidia grande 13pt for viewing sites, with default encoding of western ISO latin 1.

Try to download Acid Search again a bit later. The site may be up and running by then.
There is also Safari Enhancer which in its system wide settings has the ability to change search engines.
This again can be found on Macupdate.com or Versiontracker.com

I am not able to see the sharepoint site vertical scroll bar in Safari and Mozilla firefox in window OS as well as Mac OS , even I have tried with various option of the browser but still not able to see the vertical scroll bar.
I have tried to check with other sharepoint site in Windows OS and found that I can see others sites vertical scroll bar in Safari and Mozilla firefox , Please let me know why I am not able to see for my sharepoint sites.

Screen in jammed or how it looks without vertical scroll bar ? Check with site master page if you have modified anything related to vertical bar or else Try in other system and check if you are able to see vertical bar .

(Chrome Like) Auto-Hide Tab bar in Safari Full Screen mode

Is there a plugin or some other way to auto hide the tab bar in Safari fullscreen mode like the way Chrome does?
This is the only thing stopping me from using Safari, it's way smoother than Chrome and feels much more native to Lion, but the fact the tab bar just keeps hanging there is annoying.
I tried the Cmd+I method mentioned in the community, but it only works when you're only opening one tab, if you open several tabs, the tab bar will show up again. It also comes back up once you exit Full Screen mode.

Hello myzzzl, this is normal behavior in full screen mode, you can set the [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Browser.fullscreen.autohide browser.fullscreen.autohide] in about:config to False, to change that, but if you do that tabs and location bar is enabled in full screen mode.

Menu bar in Safari missing

I have looked at a few posts, but have not seen an answer that works for me. My menu bar in safari is missing. I am not in full screen mode. I have tried putting it in full screen mode and then taking it out of full screen mode, but it doesn't work. I hover over where the menu bar should be, but it does not appear. It's as if it thinks it is in full screen mode, but it really is not. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Click "View"menu in the Safari menubar and select "Show Toolbar".

From the drop down drag the default set into the Toolbar.
