Grey Blank Screen in IE ?

I have Reader XI installed. Whenever I try to open a pdf file in IE I just get to a blank grey screen. I cam open the pdf by right click "save target as", asve and then open the download whilst opening with protected mode disabled. What do I need to do to be able to open the pdf file directly?

What is the value of your registry in
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\SOFTWARE\Adobe\Acrobat\Exe
It should point to the Reader exe with full install location.

  • Grey Blank Screen

My iMac froze this morning. I powered down with the power button. When I fired it back up, a blank gray screen came up - originally with a folder icon with a flashing question mark - though that icon is now gone.
I tried to safe boot, nothing happened.
What's interesting is that when I power down, it turns off instantly.
Something like this actually happened about 4 months back - and my computer miraculously came back to life 3 days later (no ****.) I'm not really looking to test my luck again.
What can I do? Next step is to try booting from the OSX disk - but that didn't work last time, and I'm guessing it won't work this time.
    Thanks! This *****!

Here is an Apple Advice letter that explains what to do when you get a Gray Screen on Startup.
    Good luck!

  • Tilda blank screen

    Hi,
After upgrading to the latest version of Tilda, I get a grey blank screen instead of the console when opening it.
Downgrading solves the problem (of course). I tried using it with and without xcompmgr and on different computers (nvidia drivers and intel video drivers) and have the same issue.
Apparently some people had similar trouble six years ago (https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+sour … bug/144175), but their solution (disabling animated pulldown) does not work.
    Cheers.

Then I don't know. Which WM/DE do you use? I use Xfce with compositing enabled. Here is my ~/.config/tilda/config_0, try if you get the error with this configuration. Maybe we’ll manage to find another buggy option.

  • InDesign CS4: Blank screen instead of new page

When I open up a new document in InDesign, 3/4 of the time I do not get a white page/workspace. I get the same grey blank screen present in the back of normal page layouts. I see my tools and other windows, and I can "work" - but nothing shows up. When I close out of the 'ghost' document, I am asked if I want to save changes - so something is being recorded.
Sometimes it works fine and I get a normal page layout.
This is a new version to me - I bought an educational copy of CS4.
    Thanks for any insight/suggestions.

  • Blank screen after software upgrade

My iMac downloaded a software update yesterday and restarted automatically. But when it rebooted, I have a white/grey blank screen and the system dies not boot up. After a while, I did a hard shutdown. I let it sit a while, and when I restarted it, I have same thing!! Any ideas?!? Please help!!

I think I found the problem. When I went to apple support to check and see if I could get technical support, an option came up with options, and this was one of them. They said it could be an external device causing the blank screen. They said to unplug all other external devices and then to reboot again to see if that fixed the problem. It worked. I have been having issues with my Western Digital external drive, and I think that was it. I am returning the drive for an exchange and I hope that this issue will not happen again. Thanks again for your help!

  • I reformatted my ipod to windows and now I get a blank screen. Help!

My brother gave me his old Ipod 30Gb, I believe it's an IPOD Classic. When I first connected it to my PC I got a message that it needed to get reformatted to Windows, so I did that. After that when the IPOD came back on it had a blank screen. I tried holding down the menu + center button also but that did not work.
I also tried running the diagnostics on iTunes and failed on the Device Sync Test. I can see the music on the IPOD but they are greyed out and  it won't play. But if I attach the earbuds I can hear the songs, but again the screen is blank.
Thank you for any assistance you can give.

    Difficult to comprehend your post.
" I can see the music on the IPOD but they are greyed out and  it won't play. But if I attach the earbuds I can hear the songs, but again the screen is blank"
    Especially these parts
that you can see the music but the screen is blank?
it wont play but you can hear the songs.
Just a wild guess, your battery is low, connect it to the PC for 4 hours, then Reset the iPod. (Menu+center button
till the Apple logo comes ON)
    Tenga un buen día

  • Blank Screen after starup (like uploading but not)

Hi and help please. I own a 27in Mac. It has been receiving all updates and it has been working perfectly. This afternoon, I start it up, a status bar appeared , and then a small rotating circle indicating some sort of processing. I assume and update was being made. After one hour, and checking my internet connection (3.5MBps) I saw no change. I restarted and situation is the same, no change at all except the blank screen with the grey apple and circle indicating status of some process.
I inserted the CD Rom with Snow Leopard to try to affect it somehow, but the disk is not uploading. You can hear some HDD noices in the beginning, but then they stop.
Please any clue or tip to make it work normally again.
    Francisco.

If you have the drive backed up, erase the drive first with your Disk Utility and then do the install.

  • Blank Screen after entering password

I seem to be encountering an intermittent issue when entering my password at logon.
I would enter the password and the little ‘busy’ circle would spin attempting log in but after a few seconds rather than seeing my desktop I just have a blank screen.
I can adjust the volume and hear the sound going up/down, but I cannot see anything.
If I restart or shut down the device, and then attempt to log in again sometimes the same issue happens or sometimes it logs into the desktop.
I have taken the device to an apple store for them to look into, disk diagnostics were performed and the OS X was re-installed but they then brought it down to a hardware issue without specifying which hardware.
I got a replacement MPB Retina however the problem still happens on that device pointing towards the OS X.
Is anyone else having this issue, have Apple recognised the problem and will there be a fix?
Any input would be greatly appreciated.
    Liam

I have a MacBook Pro that worked perfectly well on Snow Leopard.  However since upgrading to Mountain Lion, and it's updates, I have experienced a number of problems, including grey screens when changing from one account to another.  Force shutdowns are required to get back to normal.  I wonder is a re-installation of ML would fix the problems, but I don't know how to do that.  I have made a bootable copy from the installer, but would like some guidance on replacing 10.8.2 with 10.8.1.
    Robin.

  • Blank Screen or Freeze???

Bought new mac late last year, it has been OK, until few weeks ago. My Mac went blank itself for no reason but not fully shut down as I can see full grey on screen background but nothing on it. I could see that the screen is still on but no mouse pointer on screen nor the keyboard won't functionally at all. I have to press and hold off button for while to turn it off then turn it back on. It happens few times now. Does anyone know how to solve this problem.

I was having the blank screen on wake up problem and had changed my power management settings, go ahead and check out http://www.unofficialmac.com/post/27756671.

  • Page view 2-up starts with a grey blank?

I want to produce a PDF where the first two pages are the back and front (respectively) of the cover of the book.
When I set 'Facing Pages' in the Document Inspector ... my first page is a grey blank, and the actual numbered first page is on the right side. Which, when I export to PDF is going to make all my pages out of sync with each other.
    Any suggestions?
    Ben

Anyone can link an image in a post in these forums. Here's a thread in Feedback about Discussions with the information you need.
I use InstantShot or Screenshot Plus Widget to capture the pictures & then GraphicConverter to crop & re-save them (you could use Preview). I have to use InstantShot timed screen for menus & to display Pages inspector properly. I also use ⌘ ⇧ 4 spacebar to capture a whole window. I use my iDisk for hosting the pictures.

  • Failed to start up - blank screen!

Yesterday, when I turn on my mac the grey screen appeared but the wheel doesn't. So when 10 minutes passed and nothing happened I turn it off from the power button. After some minutes I tried to turn it on again but at this time nothing appeared but only a blank screen neither sound chime and the keyboard didn't correspond. I checked the keyboard to another mac and it's ok! What's going on? I have poor knowledge in hardware.

Pull the battery and test that. Pull the hard drive. See if you get the old "?" on startup. A corrupt hard drive can in some cases prevent booting even from any CD/DVD or alternal hard drive.
While in there, find the PMU would be next step.
If a system won't boot into Open Firmware (command option o f) I think you are close to sunk.

  • Blank Screen- Can't find answer to fix it.

I went to listen to my ipod the other day and when it started up, it had a blank screen. I tried to restart it, but when it came back up for the second time, now the screen is two toned. One half is white, the other grey. Plus the Apple logo no longer appears. I've tried plugging it into my computer, the computer reads the ipod. I've tried retoring the defaults, the screen is still blank. I can't find anything on the Apple.com site. Has anyone had this happen and how do I fix it?

Try and force the iPhone into Recovery Mode
    1. Disconnect the USB cable from the device, but leave the other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
    2. Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to turn off.
3.While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to the device. The device should turn on.
    4. Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen. When this screen appears, release the Home button. iTunes should alert you that it has detected a device in recovery mode. Click OK, and then click Restore to restore the device.
Note: Data will be lost. You may have to repeat the above many times.

  • Ipod touch Mail Blank Screen- can't access mail

    Hi,
When I try to open mail on my ipod touch, it opens a blank/black screen (still with the grey bar at the top with the time) but never comes up with the inbox or any menus to interact with (can't access my mail).
I recently added another imap account. Does it have troubles with too many messages or otherwise- surely it would say that rather than staying on a blank screen.
    Any thoughts?

Have you tried resetting your ipod by holding the Home & Sleep buttons until you see the Apple logo?
