Grey pixelation around my lines?

hi, i did a drawing using the pen tool, and whenever i colour in a section using dark colours- there is grey pixelation around the line. heres an example at full zoom:

anyway i can remove this? i noticed it doesnt come up with black/dark grey colouring but does with navy/dark green etc

i am doing screen editing, is there any way to convert my image to RGB? im new to illustrator so i dont really understand the colour modes yet
edit: i found out how to change from cmyk to rgb but my black lines now turn light brown when i use these dark colours to fill.
overprint mode is off
edit 2: it seems i changed the colour myself at some point. going to fix it now.
thanks for the help and marked as answered

• After importing pictures they became grey with doted white line around

I have imported pictures (RAW CR2 format) from my camera hundreds of times and they all went well. But this time the only the import worked well (I saw the preview when each picture was imported). Then Iphoto asked if i would like to delete the pictures on the camera after import. I deleted them. But then when I should take a look at the pictures they were grey with doted white lines around all of them. When I chose a picture and check the properties I can see that the pictures use normal space. I tried to drag one picture to a directory in the finder but this didn´t work either. The export doesn't work either. When I scroll fast among the pictures I can see them for a short period but when I stop scrolling they will turn grey with doted white line around. Whats wrong? and how to solve?
system: iPhoto11 and Lion.

The ! turns up when iPhoto loses the connection between the thumbnail in the iPhoto Window and the file it represents.
Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
If that fails:
Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one. .

Jonas,
I think what you want is a 3D plot of a cylinder. I have attached an example using a parametric 3D plot.
You will probably want to duplicate the points for the first theta value to close the cylinder. I'm not sure what properties of the graph can be manipulated to make it easier to see.

• Grey frame around relinked images

Sometimes (but I think not always) when I relink a placed image I get a double grey frame around the image.
This is not a major problem but just kind of irritating and it seems to go away on its own after a few mouse clicks or something, but is it normal behaviour and can it be avoided?
Here's a shot to show what I'm on about. (In this example the image is masked as indicated by the extra white space at the top.)

I'm on CS3.
I didn't ask for isolation mode, so why am I getting it? (If that is indeed what it is.)
Also the layer palette opens so I can suddenly see all the sub layers. I didn't ask for that either. This only seems to happen randomly when I relink an existing placed image.
I read (again) what it says in the Help file about isolation mode but there doesn't appear to be any locking or dimming of other objects, so maybe that's not what it is. I have never wittingly used isolation mode in several decades of Illie usage; never really saw the point of it although I had read about it and even experimented with it. Instead I use Select Inverse (with a keystroke) and Lock or Hide if I need to isolate a bit of the artwork to work on. It seems a more reliable way of working and no nasty surprises :-)

hhey im new to photoshop elements 13 I'm finding my text is pixelated around edges I need it to be clean for my product labels. I have used the anti alias on and didn't really do much anyone know any other ways?

Can you attach a sample of the problem you are addressing here. A psd would be fine.

• How do I remove random pixels around a product image on a white background? They only show up after I save an image.

I am taking photos for my website selling jewelry, and I use the magic wand tool and the paint bucket to remove the background. But when I save it, there will be shaded pixels around my product in the white background area that are only shown after my image is saved. Does it have to do with saving it as JPEG? Do I need to save it as something else?

No I don't use layers. I'm very new to using photoshop. It happens in other editors like microsoft paint. even if I use the eraser tool to remove the pixels in the white background around the the product, they show up after I save it as JPEG. I would just like to know what causes it and how to change it.

• What's the point of the grey space around an image?

I understand the point of the grey space around an image when viewing in 'Fit' mode, because the image may or may not fill up the viewing space depending upon its aspect ratio...
But when you zoom in to 1:1 mode, and you scroll around your picture, why is there still this large amount of grey space around your image? If I scroll to the end of my image, it should just stop scrolling, not scroll over the end of my image into this vast amount of unusable and unnecessary grey space!
It's just annoying that every time I happen to be scrolling around fast, I scroll over the edges of my image into this vast grey space & I just can't fathom the reason for its existence.
For a better picture of what I'm talking about, see here:
http://web.mac.com/rishisanyal/Lightroom/UnusableSpace.jpg
-Rishi

Actually, it makes perfect sense to scroll in this fashion. It means that every part of the image can occupy the sweet centre spot of your monitor, even with all the panels open.
Try it. Even that important corner area of the image can be centred on your monitor. Particularly important when performing some spotting along the edges.

• Plot of a 360 degree sampling around a line

I'm doing a scan around a line by sampling data 360 degrees for every value of z(z is the position on the line). So, that mean I have a double for-loop where I collect the data for each z-value. The problem comes when I try to plot the data. How should I do? I've tried the 3D-parametric graph with cylindrical coordinates, but it won't work properly.
The following structure is used for collecting the data.
For z = 0 to max_length
move delta_z
For theta = 0 to 360
move delta_theta
read (value)
End
End
Thanks!!

• Pb G4 1.67Ghz running OS 10.4, right side of the screen 2, pixel wide vertical lines, a few days later colors posterized on pics and vid. Vertical lines don't show screen capture, but pics still posterized. Hardware test from disk shows ok.

Right side of screen started showing 2, pixel wide vertical lines. A few day later colors in pics and vid posterized. Vertical lines don't show in screen capture but pics still bad. Ran hardware test from disk, ok, adjusted color in sys prefs, new profiles a bit better but still bad, mpeg worse, jpeg bad. No better in new user account. Now a month later, right side has 8 vert lines and occasionally a slightly darker area in bottom corners for a few seconds. Reset pram, battery plugged into adaptor 99%. I can notice, for a slit second, when the screen saver is on, when I move cursor to get back to desktop, true color of  image can be seen for a flash of a second.

sorry, was in a rush, any suggestions to fix or ideas of what has gone wrong

• When I turned on my ipad the screen is scrolling grey and white veritcal lines. I can't power it off. How can I fix this?

When I turned on my ipad the screen is scrolling grey and white veritcal lines. I turned on the ipad and plugged it up, when I touched the button on the bottom, it flashed as if the screen was coming up, but instead it scrolled grey and white lines, halfway across the screen and has been doing so for about an hour now. How can I fix this? I need it for school. Am I going to have to send it back? And if so, will they send me a replacement while I am waiting for mines to be fixed?

Janellie_love-
You might connect the iPad to its wall charger for half an hour, to be sure there is enough juice to get started.
That sounds like an internal problem, as you suspect.  If you can show it to an Apple Store Genius, you may get a replacement on the spot.
If there is no Apple Store near you, look for an Apple Authorized Repair Center.  There may be one in your city.  I do not know how long it would take, or if a "loaner" would be available.  Whether they can fix it on site would depend on what the problem is.  <Apple Authorized Repair Centers>
One thing you can try is to reset (reboot) the iPad.  Hold both the Home and Sleep buttons for several seconds until the Apple logo appears.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" arrow.  If it works, the iPad will restart after a couple of minutes.  Resetting this way will not hurt anything, and sometimes clears up mysterious problems.

• IPhoto 8 - Folder Photos have 'grey' dashes around an empty box?

I have been using iPhoto for many years ~ 12 and have saved my Pictures over time while upgrading to newer Macs.  I recently upgraded to a G5 (2G Dual/iPhoto 8) and transfered all of my pictures from iPhoto to the new G5 through my older MDD computer via 'Target Mode'.  I have recently noticed that some folders, maybe 8 out of a 100 are missing the pictures.  When I open a saved folder in iPhoto such as "San Francisco_2008" there are grey dashes around an empty box where the picture should be.  If I had 25 pictures in that folder, now I have 25 empty boxes with grey dashes around them.  Many other of the folders are still populated with the photos captured over the years but just a few seem to be corrupted.
I have all of the missing pictures on backup CD's but I'm curious with the grey dash boxes, it's like iPhoto knows that something is suppossed to be there but it's missing the picture?
Has anyone seen this problem before and were you able to recover??
Bill

Then it's iPhoto 7.
iPhoto 6 was iPhoto v6
Iphoto 08 is iPhoto v7
Iphoto 09 is iPhoto v8
iPhoto 11 is iPhoto v9
Not that this is in any way confusing, of course.
Try these in order - from best option on down...
1. Do you have an up-to-date back up? If so, try copy the library6.iphoto file from the back up to the iPhoto Library (Right Click -> Show Package Contents) allowing it to overwrite the damaged file.
2. Download <a href="http://www.fatcatsoftware.com/iplm/"><b><u>iPhoto Library Manager</b></u></a> and use its rebuild function.
3. If neither of these work then you'll need to create and populate a new library.
To create and populate a new *iPhoto 08* library:
Note this will give you a working library with the same Events and pictures as before, however, you will lose your albums, keywords, modified versions, books, calendars etc.
In the iPhoto Preferences -> Events Uncheck the box at 'Imported Items from the Finder'
Move the iPhoto Library to the desktop
Launch iPhoto. It will ask if you wish to create a new Library. Say Yes.
Go into the iPhoto Library (Right Click -> Show Package Contents) on your desktop and find the Originals folder. From the Originals folder drag the individual Event Folders to the iPhoto Window and it will recreate them in the new library.
When you're sure all is well you can delete the iPhoto Library on your desktop.
In the future, in addition to your usual back up routine, you might like to make a copy of the library6.iPhoto file whenever you have made changes to the library as protection against database corruption.

• More Grey Pixels of various shades over time

My Macbook Pro 15" (original Feb 06 model) is getting more and more grey pixels on-screen. They vary in darkness and size and are in random areas on my screen.
Is this covered under warrantee?

I'd wait a bit before bringing it in... maybe 2-4 weeks.
I don't know why you recommend such a thing. The reason is that by waiting all you're going to achieve is to be further back in the queue by 2-4 weeks. All it takes is to ask how long the repair will take and if they have the parts on hand. If they don't, AppleCare/authorised service centre are normally happy for your to keep your system until they do. At which point they'll call you to bring/send it in.
When the PowerBook G4 had problems with white spots and uneven illumination the backorder was 2-3 month. I just took mine into to a local service centre, have then sight it so they could order the new dispay, and I got called 2 months later. At the end of it I was without my PowerBook for 6 hours.

• Pixel around edge on Chroma key

I have trouble to remove green edge around me. I add spill suprresor green. but it show gray on edge. i have to use soften edge that cause gray on edge.
I don't understand why bad pixels around edge. That cause me struggle to remove gray edge.
Why pixels?
I use DV on HDV camera but DV setting.
I use chroma keyer, color smoothing-4.1.1, spill supressor-green, FCP 7
I thought I have plenty light but apparently not. 5 lights. 2 dome on green, 2 key lights on me, one back light.
Thanks

yep  your far too close
you must have a good separation between the subject and the background
as a rough guide in setting up;    the subjects shadow  coming from the main light should not be able to fall on the background, if it is, move the subject further away.
The chroma keyer in FCP is very basic and needs a very good lighting set up to make it function
good level of illumination, even flat lighting on the back ground,  good 3 point lighting on the subject to separate from the background.

• Pixel-wide distorted lines jumping around

I admit that topic sounds confusing - but then, so is my problem:
A few weeks ago I noticed some distorted lines on my MBP screen (first generation 15"). The appearance is as if two adjacent rows of pixels "bleed", they seem to be identical, smearing whatever is on the screen in that position out across this pixel-wide band (there are several such bands or lines, both vertical and horisontal).
The really weird thing is, they come and go - they're mostly there and mostly in the same places (two vertical ones and three horizontal) but occasionally they disappear, then reappear, and, stranger yet, they shift about when I move the cursor to the lower right corner of the screen (at which point the entire screen seems to shift or jump slightly - one pixel? - up and to the left).
The lower right corner is inactive, the only thing that happens when the cursor is there is that the dock pops up - but the lines don't react to the dock appearing when I put the cursor anywhere else along the bottom of the screen, only the right lower corner.
I didn't do anything (that I'm aware of) when it first occured - no installs or re-installs, no updates, nothing like that. I haven't dropped it, stepped on it or had it run any hotter than usual, in short, no particular event or behavior caused this problem to start...
Anyone?

MacBook Pro 2.0Ghz/2.0 Gb RAM   Mac OS X (10.4.9)

I'm having the same issue. It just started this afternoon. Do you have Parallels? I was using Parallels with Windows Vista Business when it first started. I don't know if that has anything to do with it or not, but Windows was doing some weird things with screen resolution, jumping between a couple different settings by itself, just before this weirdness started. At first I thought it was Windows but then when I switched back to the Mac I noticed it was doing it there too.
I've rebooted, and changed the screen resolution, but nothing has helped. The text looks kind of blurry unless I mouse over it and then it either gets sharper or way too sharp as if it's been through a heavy sharpening filter. Anywhere I move the mouse there's sort of a pixel-shift where the pixels look as though they're being smeared around by one pixel. Also, If I move the mouse quickly left and right the whole screen goes back and forth about a pixel.
There are two other interesting things about this situation:
1. I'm using a dual screen setup with my 15" MacBook Pro and a 23" Cinema Screen. It does it on both of them, and continues if I unplug the CS and only use the MBP screen.
2. If I log in as another user, *it doesn't do it anymore* - only under my main user account does it happen, which also leads me to believe that it might have to do with Parallels. At least it would appear to be software related instead of hardware related.
Was there anything you can think of that you did to make it stop? This is really annoying!
