Hi,
The above failure ID refers to Hard disk drive failure. You have to replace the Hard disk drive and then reinstall the operating system once the Hard disk drive is replaced.
Part Order can be done from below link

  • Hard drive short dst check failed

First of ask On starting the system, it was taking much longer time than usual.. Then after logging in it showed only a blank black screen with white mouse pointer.. had to force shut down (shut down also took longer time).. on starting went to safe mode and ran extensive system check.. HARD DRIVE SMART CHECK PASSED but HARD DRIVE SHORT DST CHECK FAILED...I have the recovery discs and the notebook is under warranty.. Please suggest the best possible solution..

Well if it is under warranty I would call HP in your country and tell them the failure code. I cannot promise anything as I do not work for HP but as I understand it they will send you a replacement hard drive. They may charge your credit card and then refund when you send the old one back to them. Just run the recovery disks on the new one. If you can still boot to Windows do a Windows Backup to thumb or other external drive so you can save your documents, music, etc before you replace the drive and then just restore the files to the new drive.

  • Notebook caught in infinite loop, then gives a Hard Drive Short DST check error in Bios

My laptop shut off unexpectedly last week. It got caught in an infinite loop when trying to restart. I was able to access bios and run a system check. I received Failure ID Q0821A-7017lt-xd7wwk-60xx03. I cannot get the computer to start. Please advise.

    1. This is a hardware issue and the Hard Drive is faulty
    2. You cannot recover this failure ID unless you replace the Hard drive
    Detailed Explanation:
Whenever you get a message stating that the Short DST Check error with 24 Digit Failure ID "Q0821A-7017LT-XD7WWK-60XX03" that indicates that the Hard Disk Drive requires a replacement to resolve the issue
Could be due to Application or driver conflicts, virus issues, file corruptions due to incompatible applications, improper shutdowns, update failures due to conflicts, sudden power surges, if notebook is dropped etc..
HP will provide a replacement Hard Disk Drive if the Notebook warranty is Active, If not you need buy a SATA Hard Disk Drive from a retail shop nearby
Please make sure you are getting at least equal capacity as the original one in order to use Recovery Disks. If you need you can buy a larger, but not smaller capacity Hard Disk Drive. For example if you have a 500GB Hard Disk Drive you can upgrade it to 750GB Hard Disk Drive but not 320GB Hard Disk Drive
Please try the below shown troubleshooting steps once:
Step 01. Remove the battery and unplug the AC/Power Adapter
Step 02. Press and hold the Power button for more than 30 Seconds
Step 03. Plug in the AC/Power Adapter (leave the Battery out for now)
Step 04. Press the Power button and check if the Unit works normal
If the above mentioned steps does not help, then you can try reseating the Hard Drive on your Notebook
If the issue persists again please Contact HP if your HP Notebook is under warranty, HP would replace the Hard Disk Drive and provide you a Recovery media to restore factory operating system after replacement (if you've not yet created Recovery Discs/USB Media)
Note: Back up all the personal data to an external drive if it's possible. Otherwise you could connect the failed HDD via SATA to USB adapter with another PC or same PC after replacement of HDD & re-installation of OS and try copying /recovering the files.

  • DST Check Failed With Error Code: 0TW460-6HN79Q-MFPX1A-60RD03 Pdt Name: HP Pavilion g6

My laptop's screen is flickering so I ran the HP Diagnostics. The laptop failed the DST check with an error code. Need to know what this product code means.
    Details:
    Pdt Name: HP Pavilion g6
    OS: Win 8.1
Error Code for DST Check Fail:  0TW460-6HN79Q-MFPX1A-60RD03
    Thanks,
    Ravi

DST fail=  the hard drive is dead or dying and will need to be replaced. If you are still in warranty HP will send a replacement. If not a retail laptop SATA hard drive can be used. Just be sure to get one of at least equal capacity as the original in order to use Recovery Discs. It can be larger, but not smaller capacity. For instance if you have a 500GB hdd you could use a 750GB hdd but not a 320GB hdd.

  • H D Short DST Check

My husband purchased a HP model # 15-g019wm  (Windows 8.1) for me in March of this year. One day it froze on me and when I rebooted the notebook- I got the following message: " Your PC could not start properly-A requied device isn't connected or can't be accessed."  Error code:0Xc0000185. Then it gave me a choice to try again or hit F8 for start up settings or Esc for UEFI Firmware settings.
I was able to get into the System Diag. and the H D Smart check passed. But what it failed on was the H D Short DST Check
    I got a failure ID:9G9k71-72Q77G-XD7V61-60SL03.
I have not made any changes to the notebook since I got it.
If someone could please help me. I would like to get this fixed.
I've tried getting thru to HP, but most of the time I am on hold for at least a half hour, before I give up.
    Thank You

    Hi,
    You're welcome
I don't work for HP, but I would have thought that any HP Service centre should be able to replace the HDD ( sometimes the replacement drive is shipped directly to you along with instructions on fitting ), however the representative you contact should be able to sort this out for you - post back if you run into any problems regarding this.
    Best regards,

  • Hard Drive Short DST Check: Software Error

Hard Drive Short DST Check: Software Error appears while performing Hardrive Test in HP ENVY Sleekbook 6-1090ee. Please advice on how to resolve this error

Same issue here. Only I've tride a brand new hard drive and get the same results. Within seconds of power on, it shuts off hard. Sometimes the backlight comes on and it gets to the HP logo, then bam - out go the lights!  I can go into the BIOS and stay there a long time. I run all the diags and make changes. Once, it actually stayed on and booted up. I downloaded the latest BIOS update, flashed it, and rebooted. It didn't help. Also, tried to boot to a bootable Windows 8 thumb drive. Same results, shuts down after 3 seconds. Tried many times to boot to external USB CD/DVD drive,  never succeeded.  The only error any diag reported was Hard Drive Optimized DST Check: Software Error. The fan spins at almost top speed but not immediately; it takes about two seconds after power on for it to start. I don't know, but that seems to be a clue. The only time I had a successful boot, the fan didn't engage at top speed, but a few notches slower.

  • Hard Disk Short DST Test Failed

    Hi,
I haven't used my laptop in about a month, and when I booted up, I got a black screen. I went into system diagnostics, ran a htest drive test and it failed on short DST. My failure code is: 0GAP7W-5LJ67H-MFGH5G-60WF03
I'm out of warranty by 2 months.  Any advice on how to possibly fix this will be much appreciated. I'm pretty experienced in technology. I have access to a windows 8 boot cd, and Ubuntu Linux.

    Hi:
The short DST fail normally means you need to replace the hard drive.

  • Hard drive Short DST test failed

My laptop HP Envy 15 fails to load Windows. I ran diagnostics and got a error. The HP UEFI diagnostics for hard disk failed the Short DST test with failure code UC2DUW-7HH7HH-MFPV6K-60QH03. Does this mean I have to replace my hard drive? My laptop's product ID is G0T55AV and I have Win 8-64 installed on it.

    Hi there:
Yes that means you've a failing/failed HDD. You've to replace with a new one.
If you're under warranty, HP would send you replacement HDD.
If you've not yet created Recovery USB/discs after you setup the laptop, you may order them from HP.
    Order recovery USB:
    http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/bph07143
    Contact HP:
    http://www8.hp.com/us/en/contact-hp/ww-contact-us.html
    Check warranty:
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/weInput?cc=in&lc=en
Your Hp Envy 15t-k000 CTO Notebook PC came with 1TB HDD if I'm not mistaken.
If you're not under warranty, you can buy a new branded 2.5inch SATA internal laptop HDD . Get HDD of at least 1TB for recovery USB to work.
This would help you in replacement, it's a bit of work to for that:

  • Pavillion g6-2218nr Hard Disk Short DST test Failed

I have an HP Pavillion g6-2218nr notebook that will not start up.  When running the start-up diagnostic test and the Hard Drive diagnostic test, both tests showed the Hard Disk Short DST FAILED.
    The failure code is:
    GUQDU4-6B872D-MFPX1F-60Q103
    Product ID:

The notebook is unfortunately out of warranty.  Does the hard drive need to be replaced?  Can you recommend a replacement?  Are there instructions available?

    Hi,

  • Hard disk Short DST: Failed, HP Pavilion g6-2213so

We own a notebook HP Pavillion g6-2213so, windows 8 and is about 5-6 months old still on waranty.
Yesterday the screen just went blank, but i thought it wasprobably hibernating or something.
Now when i try to boot it, the message it gives is wait automatic system recovery.
    But since it did this for to long i tried a system check using the start up test and this is what it showed me;
    Processor check : passed
    Memeory test: passed
    Hard disk smart checkassed
    Hard disk short DST check:failed
    Failure ID: GSJ88F-6GW6N0-MFPX1F-60XH03
    Product ID:C4M01EA#UUW
Just to note, i mid may this laptop developed a hard disk problem and we have just recently recieved a new hard disk from The HP support team on our waranty, so this hard disk is barely a month old and this is happening, ineed your help HP.
    Thanks

Try everything on this list first.
If no success, then Contact HP.
The hard disk is an item that can be replaced by the owner. The hard disk is covered under warranty and will be sent at no cost to you.
Locate your recovery disk set or usb recovery media so you will have it ready to use when the new hard disk arrives. You will need it to perform a factory image recovery that will return your notebook to the state it was in when delivered.
If you did not create recovery media you will have to purchase a set from HP or an HP partner.

Windows 8 no longer loads. I honestly dontcremember if it's 64 bit Windows 8. I have tried the recovery CD that came from HP and changed the boot order. No luck. I am able to run system diagnostics. The tests show everything is running except:

  • WCA ActiveX viewer IE grey screen

We are running crystal enterprise XI rel2 with FP4.7. When running reports via infoview or the crystal management console, reports display. but when running the reports via a java app through the webcompadapter, the reports only return a grey screen. Reports are failing 100% in dev, 50% in test and never in Prod. I have thoroughly reviewed entrprise setup on our Windows 2003 server, and our AIX Weblogic env for the webcompadapter. the environments are the same across dev, test and prod.
Has anyone come across this before that can lend a hand?
    thanks in advance

I am not 100 % sure about this but i think that you cannot use the Active X viewer using the Java SDK. You can give it a try
    either using the .NET SDK.
