Grey songs on my iPad wont play

I recently purchased a new computer and downloaded iTunes so that I can sync my iPad to it. I had been running all my music with no problems on my iPad up until now. When I did the first sync with the new iTunes, I went to check my iPad and noticed that A LOT of my songs are greyed out and there is this little red button to the left of the song title. What in the name of Steve Jobs is happening and how can I correct it? And what the heck is that red button all about? I keep tapping it and nothing really happens? Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

Actually, the little red button is to the RIGHT of the song title.

Songs showing in a faded grey on iphone 4 but wont play, any idea's?

Hi im looking for a bit of help i updated to ios 6.1.2 the other day now my songs wont play they show the artist name in black then when you open it, its a faded grey colour and it wont play? Ive managed to start download the songs again from itunes purchase history but the problem now is that when i go into an album it shows as being double one in black that plays and one in grey that doesnt?

I had the same problem after using an auxillary plug in the headphone jack. I tried rebooting, restoring to factory, and inserting and removing iPhone headphones in the jack. The only solution was going to the Apple store and getting a replacement phone. The Apple store genius said it is a rare problem with the 4/4S iPhone that is a hardware issue.

I have over 9000 songs and over half wont play in my itunes how do i get them all to work

You don't say whether you are on PC or Mac. For Mac there are these two programs which might help (I havn't tried either) :

There are probably similar programs for PCs, but I don't know what they are. On a PC you can hold the shift key and do File > Display Exact Duplicates (without the shift they may not be exact matches) - if one of each duplicate pair has the same date added then you can sort by that and then delete those with (or without) that date.

New ipad wont play videos on facebook

i have the NEW IPAD (4G) and whenever i try to view videos on FACEBOOK, it wont play.
It opened a browser and a play icon appears.
I was able to play it on my laptop and saw the video without problem.

It's likely that those particular videos require Flash Player to view. Adobe discontinued supporting Flash Player for mobile devices a year ago, so you can't view those videos on your iPad. You CAN view them on a laptop because Flash Player for computers still works fine. This has been discussed endlessly on this Forum.

I just downloaded Last Night by Diddy and it wont play. All my other songs play and the Diddy song shows the Album Art. the only thing I notice thats different is it doesn't say Protected AAC Audio File. Its just blank. What do I do? I dont want to but the song twice

I got my ipod about 2 months ago, working fine, this morning i start it up , shuffle songs, first song displays , but just sits there wont play, go forward to another song same thing, reset the pod no luck any ideas

When connected try File > Devices > Transfer purchases from Ipad.
It seems that now you need to do this extra manual step. Whereas before it was part of sync'ing.
Hopefully Apple will fix this bug.

HT4914 Some songs are listed, but wont play. Whats wrong?

For some reason, one or two songs in my library, that I have purchased, wont sync up to iTunes Match. It shows it linked in the music app, but its grayed out.

Ok I figured out something that fixed the problem I was having and you (TuxedoCartman) are having I think.
ctrl click all the songs that are giving you this problem, right click one when they're all selected and click "Create AAC version" I think it was, either create or convert.
Once I did that I deleted the original copies of the songs from the folders outside of the itunes library folder. Back in iTunes, click file and then show duplicates. Skip through everything in there and then delete any that have an exclimation before them. After that, I did the restore iPod stuff again.
All the songs that were doing this to me now play just fine. Hope this helps

I would press too hard because if you crack that glass then any repairs will be yours to pay.

Help - Faded grey songs that can't be played on my iOS devices even after iTunes Match completed update?

I've had iTunes Match over a year and have uploaded nearly 25k songs.
90% are successfully in the cloud but some albums are a faded grey when I try to access them on my iphone/tablet. I can't play then of download them with iTunes Match turned on on these devices.
I've repeatedly clicked to update iTunes match on my computer and watch it complete the process, yet these albums just don't work on my iOS devices.
When I check on iTunes some have the "!" Icon saying couldnt upload but there's no reason they shouldn't...what gives and what can I do?

The iPod backup that iTunes makes does not inlcuded synced media like apps and music. Thes those iTunes are not restored to the iPod unless they are in the iTunes library.
Try:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Unsync all music and resync
- Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
- Restore from backup. See:

- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.

I downloaded a song but now it wont play? they charged me too...

so i downloaded a song, and halfway through the download my internet connection was lost, well when i resumed and completed the download, the song wouldnt work and still wont. how do i fix it?

If the download is truly complete--go to the store>check purchases to see if it will download again. If it won't your best option is to contact the store for help. You'll probably want to redown load the file again. Use the links inside the store page to contact Apple.

Songs in MP3-Player wont play

Hi everybody, my kids downloaded several songs from the ITMS. They dont play in their (non-apple) MP3-Players. Did we waste our money or is there a way to make them play?

No your in the clear, once you buy your music you own it. You can do whatever you want with it exept authorize more than 5 computers to share it.
That's not completely correct. First, you don't own music (even on CD), you own certain rights to use it, depending on the terms of the license. Second, you can't "do whatever you want with it": both the Terms of Sale of the iTunes Music Store and the copyrights on the tracks have limitations. Basically you can use the tracks for personal use, but are forbidden from using them commercially in any way, giving them away or selling them, or trying to break the copy protection.

When I try to play music on my ipad from icloud it does not load. All I see is the cloud symbol with a load bar under it and it either freezes or does not load at all. What shoudl I do. This problem seems to be related to io6

I don't know if this will work for you, but there is a discussion marked "correct" in the "More Like this" box to the right so I checked it out. The suggested fix was to restart the iPad.
Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
