Greyed out apple id in settings hence unable to switch between ID's

hi all, I have just murchased my second ipad and after seiiting up i have decided to create a seperate account for the kids,however my issue is that when i go to the ID in the settings menu it is greyed out. its not blocked via restrictions hence unsure how to change/swith between the 2 id'

Have you tried signing out from the iTunes app or the App Store app? You can tap on your ID at the bottom of the screen in the Music tab or the Featured tab of those two apps. Maybe if you sign out in there, that would free up the setting in the iTunes and App Store section of the settings app.
I assume that you also tried restarting or resetting your iPad.

If you have a 2G iPod, that model does not support mutlitasking and thus ther is not double clicking the Home button.

Greyed out songs on my playlist. Unable to delete.

I've noticed that I have greyed out songs on my Iphone's music playlist. These songs are unable to play and refuse to delete.
I've noticed many other people have had the same problem. Their solution was to find the song's file, re-sync it to their device and
delete it all over again.
Except for me, I've deleted the original music file in my Itunes library. So when I synced my music just recently, the files I previously deleted from my itunes library became grey.
This is a problem because the songs are no longer in my library, making it unable to sync and re-delete. Yet they are stuck on my Iphone's actual music playlist.
Does anyone know what I can do?

Want to disable/"grey out" dial-up connection "settings" button in the "connections" tab of Internet Options

Hi, I'm looking to "grey out" a dial-up connection for some users in workplace, so that they are forced to use our VPN client in order to access the web. Does anyone know if this is possible?
I know you can disable all settings on that tab using local group policy, (e.g. Administrative Templates\Windows Components\Internet Explorer) but I only want to disable a specific dial-up connection (for usb 3G modems).
I've read of various IE settings being locked down in the registry here, HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Restrictions, but havent seen the settings I want.
The actual connection is visible here, HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\Connections, I just cant figure out how to grey it out. Any ideas? Thanks!

"Authentication Type" greyed out in Advanced Wireless Settings (WRT54G)

I wish to change my Authentication Type from Auto to Shared Key in my Wireless -> Advanced Wireless Settings section of my web-based admin utility. However, it's been greyed out for some reason.
I understand that the Shared Key mode is more secure than the Auto mode, therefore I wish to change it. Would anyone happen to know as to why this would be greyed out like this and how I can fix it so that I can have access to the options? I'm using WRT54G V.6 with firmware v.1.01.1 (the latest one from linksys). TIA.

I think I figured it out. I'm currently using WPA Personal mode and as I understand it, only WEP mode applies to whether you're using an Open System or Shared Key. Can someone please confirm this for me? TIA.

Ios wifi greyed out - tried reset network settings - http auto - NOT WORKING

I tried setting WIFI HTTP to AUTO and it worked for awhile but now is totally greyed out. I cannot use my Iphone 4S but will return to store later today as they almost always are very nice and will know the best practice solution. Iphone 4S is 32GB and a little over a month old.

Unable to switch between tuners on HD DVR. The `Last' button doesn't do it.

FiOs was installed yesterday and I was disappointed to learn that the remote won't swap tuners, allowing me to watch a program on one tuner and then watch another on the second tuner. Spent time on the phone with the tech reps, but they didn't seem to understand the problem. They thought the `Last' button served the purposed. It doesn't. I switched from Comcast, which offered that feature. The Comcast remote has a 'Last' button and a 'Swap' button. The 'Swap' button is missing from the Verizon/Philips remote. Here's the difference: If I'm watching Channels 10 and 20 with either service, the 'Last' button switches between those channels. The tuner doesn't change. The 'Swap' function on the Comcast remote switches the DVR to Tuner 2, where I can select other channels. If I'm watching Channel 10 on Tuner 1 and then press the `Swap' key, the television doesn't switch to Channel 20 as it would with the `Last' key, It switches to whatever channel I'm watching on Tuner 2. An easy way to test this is to press the rewind key. As I'm watching Tuner 1, whatever is playing on Tuner 2 is buffered for 5 or 10 minutes or longer. When I switch on the Comcast service, I can rewind and see what I missed on either tuner. The `Last' key doesn't do this on either service. The Verizon sales people assured me this feature was available with FiOs. It's not so far. Hoping there will be a software upgrade. The `Swap' key is wonderful.

missingtivo and oldsarge, dont feel bad about it not working. it doesnt work for a lot of people. According to the Verizon info that was originally posted on the web site, it said that the Verizon DVR's did not have two live buffers. Now the new info on the page says nothing about it one way or the other. Hence all the confusion between those of us that say they cannot switch buffers and those that say you can. The problem is that there is no way to tell which DVR's can and which cannot, and Verizon has said that it is NOT a feature and it is NOT supported. That having been said, many like Justin get it to work just fine. Since it works for them, it is assumed that it will work for everyone. Unfortunately, this is not true. While a lot of people do have this work for them, there are many of us that it does not work at all and it is not something that Verizon considers as an issue. When I asked for mine to be replaced because it does not work, I was told that it is not an advertised feature and not one guaranteed to work, therefore their "official" word on the subject is that the dual live tuners is not a feature on the Verizon service. If it works for you...Great more power to you. If it doesn't... OH WELL, its not a feature anyway. I've tried both the 7216 and the 6416, and my neighbors 6416 and it does not work on any of them.
For those that may be reading this after our long discussion on the other thread, an update. Since we were unable to get mine to work. Even following the directions provided by everyone here on the board that said it worked perfectly. I contacted Verizon Tech support and was informed about the "not a supported option" that I posted above. That is why I said it in the way that I did. This was the "official" word from the tech support supervisor. And my buddy that works at Verizon Tech support says that they have been told to tell customers that the "dual live tuners" is not a feature of Verizon. That's why you have so much problems finding someone when you call for help on this issue. Just FYI
However, the new Cisco stb's that are supposed to be out sometime around the first of the year are supposedly to have many of these features that we want out of Verizon now. We will just have to wait and see.

Unable to switch between 3g and 4g on my Lucid

After an update a week or so ago, my LG Lucid has completely lost the functionality of switching between 3g and 4g. As 4g is a battery hog I kept it mostly on 3g (but not always) and since the update , I am stuck on 3g. Took it to the Verizon store for a techie to look at it and he was stumped. I used to access thru "settings" - "about phone" - "network" - "network type and strength" , which brought me to some toggles where I could choose the network best suited to what I was doing. Now this screen is gone completely and only shows signal strength. The techie suggested a factory data reset, which would not only erase all my items from my phone, but if it did provide 4g service, I would now be stuck all the time on that. I told the tech guy I would wait for a fix to this. My question is, are there others out there with this problem or is there a fix for it. I contacted LG and they said they have had no updates to the phone. Is Verizon denying the problem or even working on it ?????

I have a related issue with my LG Lucid. It tends to get stuck in 3g in areas that I know are 4g. A phone restart usually takes care of it but it sure is a pain to do that. If that fails then a battery remove/replace fixes it. Neither are good options but worth considering while we wait for an update.
There are several 3g/4g switch free apps available too but none that say they support Lucid. I found that 3G/4G On/Off (Toggle 3G) by JuYeo! Oh works well to turn on 3g when the Lucid doesn't do it but I haven't found a way to turn on 4g.

Unable to switch between txt and Facebook

After the 8.1 update I can't switch between txt and Facebook anymore. Not sure if its something I'm doing wrong but I used to have a button in each contact that allowed me to txt them or send it to their Facebook inbox. I no longer have that button, yet I have group set to on. Does anyone know if this was removed with the new update or I'm missing something out. Thanks Donna

I would agree that removing the facebook/social media integration is a definite step back. Microsoft reasons that with the new implementation it will be easier for 3rd part developers to fill this gap, I personally think this was a bad design choice and found that this functionality specifically was great and very useful.

Unable to switch between tools in Photoshop CC.

Hi, I am seriously about to loose my mind over this problem.
I use key commands to speed up my work flow while creating storyboards.
Say I have the brush selected and i want to erase a bit of a line I would switch to the eraser tool just by tapping E and when I'm done switch back to brush tapping B. Currently , this sometimes requires me to hit the key up to 10 times before it switches if it works at all. Sometimes I have to switch out of the program and switch back before I'm able to change tools. This also will happen when I hit the bracket keys to increase/decrease the brush size of the tool I'm using . This obbiously is seriously slowing down my work flow.
I'm also having issues with the lasso tool. When making a selection the line will dissappear, sometimes to reappear and sometimes the path just closes (without double clicking).
I've read these forums in search of a solution and tried, Trashing Photoshops Preferences, and Updating my Waccom (Intuos 3) driver to no avail.
I run photoshop on a iMac with OS X 10.9.2, 3.5Ghz Intel Core i7 and 32g of Ram.
Any other suggestions?

Unable to switch between Tabs in a af:panelTabbed component

Hi all,
Good Day,
I am working on a POC which has 6 tabs in an af:panelTabbed component. All the tabs (af:showDetailItem components) are with the default properties.
While running the application it is working fine till one or two tab clicks but after clicking on 1 or 2 tabs , with the next tab click the application seems to be not responding
and I am getting the below error in the server logs.
*<UIXShowDetail> <broadcast> Event org.apache.myfaces.trinidad.event.DisclosureEvent[phaseId=INVOKE_APPLICATION 5,component=RichShowDetailItem[UINodeFacesBean, id=sdi4],expanded=true] was delivered to a showDetail already in that disclosure state.*

Apple will exchange your iPod for a refurbished one for this price. They do not fix yours.

IPhone 4S/iOS 7.0.4/WiFi Grey Out Issues

My iPhone 4S (64GB memory/ATT) was working beautifully on iOS 5.1.1. WiFi connected seamlessly with Access Points at home, work, etc.
Then I made the mistake of wirelessly updating to iOS 7.0.4. Instantly the WiFi stopped working and the <Settings>, <WiFi> tab was greyed out and non-responsive. Oddly the WiFi tab on the Control Panel was responsive, but did not actually activiate the WiFi chip or open a connection to the WiFi antenna. Accordingly, there is no option to find or connect to a WiFi network.
Most other features appear to work, including the ATT cellular service and Bluetooth connection. However, the iPhone is slow to respond to some apps, For example, tapping <Settings> takes 5-6 seconds for a response whereas with iOS 5.1.1 the response was instantaneous. Also a few apps (even after updating) and a couple of iOS pages now cause the iPhone to go blank for a few seconds or crash.
Sounded like either an iOS or firmware issue to me.
I followed all of the Apple and ATT suggestions, including:
-Confirming that the iPhone is not in Airplane mode.
-Turning the iPhone off, waiting, and restarting.
-Forcing a hard restart of the iPhone by holding the <Silent> and <Home> keys simultaneously for 7 seconds.
-Resetting the network settings by tapping <Settings>, <General>, <Reset>, and <Reset Network Settings>.
-Checking for a newer iOS (none).
At the suggestion of a couple of ATT support representatives, I tried even more drastic measures:
-Resetting all settings by tapping <Settings>, <General>, <Reset>, and <Reset All Settings>.
-Resetting all content and settings by tapping <Settings>, <General>, <Reset>, and <Reset All Content and Settings>.
-Backing up, Restoring iOS and firmware, and Restoring applications and data using iTunes.
-Restoring iOS and firmware using iTunes, and then setting up as a new iPhone.
-Turning off iPhone, waiting while ATT pushed a new switch data pack to iPhone, and then restarting iPhone.
Actually I did all of these "fixes" at least twice with the same result: still a greyed out and non-responsive <Settings> <WiFi> tab with no WiFi signal.
Apple and ATT's ultimate solution was predictable: Buy a new 64 GB iPhone 5 for several hundred dollars (plus numerous proprietary cables) and forget the 47 GB of data, photos, etc. lost beta-testing their iOS and "fixes".
Any "fixes" that I missed or other suggestions?

ChrisJ4203, thanks very much for your input. I don't mean to turn this post into an endless debate, but frankly I am still having a hard time believing that the WiFi died as a result of a hardware failure.
My logic might be flawed, but here it is:
While the iPhone 4S got very hot when wirelessly downloading and installing iOS 7.0.4 over the WiFi network, the WiFi chip and antenna had to be functional to complete the wireless iOS update. Apple was very clear that iOS 7.0.4 is too large to download and install via cellular service. Accordingly it would appear that any hardware failure had to occur in the few minutes between the download/installation of iOS 7.0.4 and its first use. That window of opportunity is incredibly small in an otherwise flawless hardware performance. I am not a big believer in long shot coincidences, so a WiFi hardware malfunction seems highly improbable to me, but not impossible. A firmware/iOS conflict still seems more plausible to me.
I also don't read much into Apple's "out-of-warranty" replacement offer at $199. AT&T tells me that anyone walking in off the street (with or without a hardware or iOS malfunction) would receive the same offer.
I appreciate that some iPhone 4S users did not experience any WiFi issues when they updated to iOS 7.0.4, but such difference could easily be explained if Apple used more than one WiFi chip and/or firmware in the iPhone 4S series. Such an explanation would also account for iOS 7.0.4 (and 7.0.6) not recognizing the WiFi chip after the iOS update.
Still perplexed, but thanks again for your kind efforts to help.
Wonder if I can limp along long enough to spend my money on an Apple iPhone 6 ... but then again I don't want to be anyone's beta-tester.
I am tempted to switch to a Samsung Galaxy or some other smartphone as long as I will be buying new accessories, but frankly I don't want to waste my time learning a new OS or core apps.
