Greyed out audio in timeline but plays in view fine

Hi there,
One day this will all be over..but the learning curve on this Mac machine I find quite steep. I've been copying an pasting from one end of timeline to other end..and now the audio is greyed out..but will play fine in the viewer..anyone got any ideas?

I have happened upon those very buttons you mentioned..but in this instance that's not it. Further up the timeline is audio which is untouched and is not greyed out which is on the same track as the stuff that is. It's extremely bizarre. I've tried rebooting the machine..my old favourite..no joy
Any other ideas folks.
Ah..just had a play about there and "control" "clicked" on one of the offending clips and chose "enable clip"..and it came back to life. I have no idea how I "unabled" them. Obviously lunch free'd up some brain cells!

Are you signed into iTunes match? If so, hold option key whilst turning of match. Close iTunes and then reboot laptop. Open iTunes and turn on match, do so. Once process is complete do you have access to the new tracks?

Greyed out audio and no battery detected

I have had a problem with my mabook pro since the last set of updates, I can't remeber which ones, however I now have greyed out audio and no battery dected.
I am pretty sure its a firmware problem, however any firmware I attempt to install I Recieve the follow error "This software is not compatable with your system" - I am at a total loss. All I need to do is force a firmware install on this thing and then I will be happy?
Any suggestions???

If no change and you are convinced it is Firmare I would advise taking it in for Genius support over the counter.

HT1933 Why are my songs on my ipod nano greyed out in itunes and not playing ?

My old computer died got a new one downloaded itunes connected my ipod to it all my songs show up but they are greyed out and won't play on i tunes however they still play just fine on my ipod but they won't play on i tunes ..........also how can i sync my ipod to itunes and not lose my music ?

Grey text when you look at the content and lock symbol at the bottom of the screen simply shows that your iPod is set to "automatically update songs and playlists". . If you want to access your iPod directly, play it through your iTunes, connect it to a second computer etc. you just need to change the update method to "Manually manage songs and Playlists" in the iPod preferences. One thing to remember about manually updating though is that the iPod also has to be manually ejected before the "Do Not Disconnect" message will go away. Safely disconnect iPod

The iPod offers three ways to transfer music from your computer. You can select one of the following update modes from the iPod Preferences menu in iTunes (Edit=>Preferences=>'iPod' tab):
1) Automatically update all songs and playlists. This is the default mode, in which your entire music library, including playlists, is automatically synced to your iPod. If the music library on your computer exceeds the iPod storage capacity, you are prompted to select a different update method.
2) Automatically update selected playlists only. With this option, iTunes automatically copies the playlists you have selected to the iPod when you connect it to the computer.
3) Manually manage songs and playlists. You can also choose to transfer music to the iPod manually. This allows you to drag and drop individual songs and playlists from iTunes to the iPod.

Got an Acer netbook which has linux operating system with Firefox 3.5 installed, the check for updates is greyed out, downloaded firefox 7 but will not install, we are constantly prompted by Firefox to update as 3.5 will no longer be supported

Basically acer netbook will not allow us to update Firefox from ver 3.5 to 7, check for updates box is greyed out, thanks for your help

Many thanks for your reply, the machine was bought from Currys the 3.6 download warns you it will only be supported for a short time, and recommends downloading ver 7, I am unfamiliar with the workings of Linux but the machine has been good, there must be a solution, no problem if we have to pay for the upgrade. My standard list of things to do first for these wierd sort of problems, but I also tend to run these before I go to burn an iDVD project just to be safe. Keep in mind this list represents the programs I tend to use. There are several alternate programs that do the same things with some combining the functions of some of the ones below. So everyone has their favorites, but here are mine...
Run MacJanitor (free download) to do all the Unix Cron Maintenance scripts.
Run Disk Utility (Applications -> Utilities) and repair disk permissions on your start up drive (typically your internal drive). Also verify any other drives mounted on the system, especially any external drives that you use for iMovie and iDVD projects.
Run Preferential Treatment (free download) to check for corrupt/damaged application and system preference files.
Run Cache Out X (free download) to clear all system and application caches.
Reboot your Mac (after running Cache Out X you are given the option to restart the machine).
My guess is that after running Cache Out X and restarting you might find your hard drive space back again. If not, you might try booting off your restore/install CD or DVD that came with your system and then trying to delete that log file, then rebooting with your hard drive again.

Extensions is greyed out in Photoshop CC 2014. Was working fine a day ago.

What is going on with CC? One day it works fine the next day something goes wrong! I can load extensions and show they are active but when I go into PS CC the extension is greyed out!

It turned out that I looked at the responses of others! They were all wrong! The simple resolution to the problem is to trash the prefs! Everything came back to order.

My music app detect the track but the title is grey out, i cant select or play it directly, what i can do is select near by track and skip to that track, im using ios7,

Last time on ios6, i could play the track normally
But after i updated to 7, some of my music is unplayable directly

If it do detect it, the track title will gray out and i cant select it

Bar and Tone (NTSC) no audio in timeline but can hear it in viewer

Help! I've got a deadline as usual!
I put the color bar and tone in and can hear it in the viewer but not in the timeline. I don't know what I'm doing wrong.
Any help would be greatly appreciated

Make sure you have at least one audio channel active on the timeline before you drag it over.

Why in the world is the most current version of firefox AND flash having TONS of problems playing hulu videos? either chewing the crap out of my processor but playing ok, or chewing the crap out of my processor and not even playing video at all?

used to be firefox and hulu got along just fine, never had my computer get retarded slow or any of the other things its currently doing while there's a tab open with hulu... but here lately its been eating the snot outta my processor (between firefox.exe and plugin container the two are consistently using 100% of my processor... most of it being firefox.exe itself)
and tonight i cant watch hulu at all. the video shows a frame then its another 10-15 seconds before another single frame is showed.
my firefox is the most current version.
my adobe flash player plugin is the most current version.
there's no reason this should be happening but it is happening and its friggin annoying

this happens anytime i'm in the part of hulu that has the player for showing whatever episode i'm attempting to watch. when i attempt to watch hulu i have no other tabs open and no other excess programs running on my computer, and firefox+plugincontainer run my CPU to 100% just between those two processes. i can browse around the internet just fine (like checking my email, or even getting to my queue list on hulu, which i have my homepage set as.. the queue list loads fine but the player part of hulu is when things go to crap)
and i just tried the exact same episode of lie to me that i couldnt watch on firefox.... tried watching it on internet explorer and its playing perfextly fine EVEN WHILE FIREFOX IS OPEN.
firefox is my preferred browser and i hope this junk can be fixed somehow.

You need to remember that AdobeFlash is proprietary software licensed by a commercial Company. Some of that software may be free to use.
Flash should work well with Google Chrome as it is tightly integrated with that browser.

2.2 Audio Podcast downloads but plays like video.

I downloaded episodes of Coverville, directly on my iPhone 3G, it was not setup in iTunes. There is only 1 feed for Coverville listed in the ITMS. When I play them back, the iPhone is displaying them as video files. Locking the phone, stops the playback, there is the expansion button for swtiching full screen mode.
When I subscribe in iTunes and sync them over they play back fine.

Yeah, I think what's happening is that when you subscribe, it's downloading the file. When playing through the store, it's streaming it. I believe it has to do with how the mime types are configured on our web server, although I definitely could be wrong about that. I'm still investigating how the videos were encoded, but I don't think that's the issue.

Can't edit volume in timeline but can in Viewer?

Turned off waveform display, but can't edit volume in the timeline. The tracks are not locked. I have to select a sound clip and edit volume in the Viewer. I have not had this problem in the past?? Rich

PS CS6 Filters greyed out for Timeline clips - what's wrong?

I've just watched an Adobe TV video by Julianne Kost about video features in PS CS6.
At one point she converts a video clip into a Smart Object in order to apply a PS filter, but when I do this, the entire Filters menu is greyed out.
The mp4 clip plays normally in the Timeline otherwise.
Is there something I have to do to make this work?
