Greyed out images when opened in photoshop CS

I ahve been happily using my photoshop but recently all my images are greyed out with small white and grey boxes so cannot view or change. I have clicked on the imagine open section in history and it makes not difference. What am I doing wrong?

I shoudl warn you that although I use CS5 relatively well to edit I am not very technical so am finding all your helpful queries rather confusing. However, I have managed to look deeper into my program and the images are in RGB colour on 8 but /channel. However am working in CMYK. THe problem is that when opened the images are now in the transparency grid and in order to view them I have to Zoom in or out whic his either too large or too small to work on. I have not changed anything on the porgram from its initial settings. From Chris Cox's help i am not really sure what he means by this so please help. I am unable to find any telephone number for Adobe Help except on in the US where they tell you there is a 30 mins wait and I am based in UK. ALso not sure what extension......or what that means. I have just installed Photoshop CC on my new Windows 8.1 OS computer and when I try to open one of my RAW files into Photoshop from the Photoshop 'open file' menu item I can only see file icons rather than the thumbnail pictures that are in the folders? I can view the thumbnails just fine from Bridge but not when opening directly from Photoshop? I can view all jpg's but no RAW files (both Canon and Sony RAW). I tried installing the Microsoft Camera Codec for Windows 8.1 but it won't install - error message says "not intended for this operating system" in spite of the fact that it explicitly states it is for Windows 8.1? Any ideas on what to do to be able to view the thumbnail images?

Photoshop blurs image when opening jpeg from Nikon

Hi
My photoshop in CS6 blurs an image when opening a Jpeg this only happens on my own devices, so for example if the photo is taken on nikon DSLR, ipad or iphone. any other image, i.e. stock and downloaded and its fine.
I just cant figure out what the problem is, but essentially all my photos are uneditable because of the blurring. can any help?

If OpenGL drawing is disabled, then the video driver isn't too likely. Most of the problems in drivers show up with OpenGL drawing enabled.
But printer drivers and fonts can sometimes cause issues.
And there's always a chance that the video driver is failing at something simple (like drawing a menu or cursor).

DSLR JPG images crystal clear in iPhoto but blurry when opened in Photoshop CS5.

I own the CS5 master collection. I recently purchased a new Retina Macbook Pro. 15" 16gb RAM, 512gb flash, 2Gb Nvidia. For some reason, my crystal clear dslr photos are appearing blurry when opened in photoshop. In iPhoto they look sharp. Any ideas? Any help would be much appreciated. I'm losing my mind over here!

If you imported your image files into iPhoto, Photoshop cannot see the original files and is showing you just the tiny embedded JPEG thumbnail. Blame iPhoto.
iPhoto buries your images in its entrails as packages no other software can get at. What you need to do is to EXPORT your images first into some folder Photoshop and other software can see. You have to do this from within iPhoto itself after launching that d@mned Apple application.

restore your phone as new through itunes. if the issue persists after a factory restore via itunes, it means you've got a hardware issue and the phone needs to be repaired

How to grey out images in APEX

Hi,
Can someone let me know how can I disable/greyout images in APEX?
I have a list of images in a horizontal way, say Image 1, Image 2, Image 3, Image 4.
So when Image 1 is accessed, Image 2,3 and 4 should be greyed out. When Image 2 is accessed, Image 3 and 4 (not Image 1) should be greyed out and so on.
Please let me know how can this be done?

What you mean by "Image is accessed"?
Do you mean when mouse click image or hover mouse over image?

When opening a Photoshop file with Bridge, how can I control which version of Photoshop the file wil

When opening a Photoshop file fthrough Bridge, how can I control which version of Photoshop the file will open in?
I store my PSD files adjacent to the original RAW file from which it was derived.
If I open the file folder and double click on that PSD file, it opens in CS6. But,if I use Bridge (CS6) to navigate to and open the same file, it first opens Photoshop CS5 and then opens that PSD file in CS5.
How can I control which Photoshop will open a file I select when opening it through Bridge?.

Interesting, but it doesn't give a clue what I'm supposed to do. No Photoshop ducuments listed.
Look at the PSD file on the location Curt provided and search for Photoshop Document. Next to it ideally should show Adobe Photoshop CS6 if you have Bridge CS6 open. Click on it to provide the fly out menu and choose the correct Photoshop from the list.
But probably something went wrong with your install. By default Bridge chooses the latest version of PS to open its file in.
Maybe a reset of the preferences might also help you. Can you provide more details about OS version etc.
And do you have a good reason for keeping your Raw and finished files in the same location. Personally I keep them apart and use a proper file name convention (yyyymmdd and details) so I can easily search for the DNG files in my archive if I needed them but I don't make mistakes in opening the wrong one

Feh showing black images when opening certain .bmp files

Hi all,
I've been using feh (I'm using imagemagick too) from quite a bit and today I noticed it shows plain black images when opening certain .bmp files, those files are obtained from a Java WebService and they may not be correcty formed, still firefox can correctly visualize them. Would it be possible to make feh correctly display them ?

I've set Photoshop to ask me if there's a conflict with embedded color schemes but it doesn't ask when opening this file. So I presume it doesn't use any specific profile. (Can I check this directly somehow?)
EDIT: I've now set to ask if there is no profile embedded and Photoshop now says that the image has no embedded RGB profile.
My color profile within Photoshop is set to sRGB which is the default for my display.
When I try switching to other RGB profiles in the list, the colors change but the distortions are still there no matter which profile I choose.

why do I keep getting an error "insufficient data for an image" when opening a document in Adobe Reader XI 11.0.06

I am also having this problem, especially with scanned documents. Since I need to download scanned documents in my work this is a big problem!Sometimes I can read but not save the document, sometimes one or two of the pages will be blank from the start. I have the latest version of Adobe Reader XI (11.0.10). I tried reducing the page zoom, a suggested workaround on this page: Acrobat: “Insufficient data for an image” error after updating to 10.1.4 or 9.5.2, but that did not help at all. FWIW I use a Windows 8.1 PC with 4 GB RAM. I usually download PDFs from the internet using Firefox.

Aperture 3 edits are not applied when opening in Photoshop CS5.

I have Photoshop CS5 selected as external editor. I apply some edits in Aperture 3 and then open in Photoshop cs5 to do heavier work, but aperture 3 edits are not applied. I get a new image from Master. How do I get the edited image to open in Photoshop CS5? I would rather do the cropping and simpler edits in Aperture, then if needed open the edited file into CS5. I can open the file, but it is missing all of my edits. I have basically a raw master file that I have to start with, but don't have the advantage of the raw file.

I'm right clicking on the photo and selecting -> edit with Edit with Adobe Photoshop CS5. The photo opens in Adobe, but it doesn't have any of the Aperture edits applied to it. I would have to start from scratch doing these in photoshop. I want to be able to do the Raw adjustments in Aperture and then open into Photoshop.
To test I applied a crop in Aperture and then opened that file in Photoshop. The full size image opens in Photoshop.

PDFs not displaying images when opened in Google Chrome.

My PDFs are not displaying images when opened in Chrome. They do display in other browsers and when saved to the desktop. I have tested on multiple machines. "... a known Chrome issue." The resolution lies with Google for this - nothing you can do (other than disable the "in house" browser add-on and enable Adobe's (if you have Reader or Acrobat installed)).
A similar issue exists with other, contemporary, browser releases.
The "fix" is these software houses to deploy PDF viewer browser add-ons that actually comply with ISO 32000.
Perhaps their lazy approach reflects the attitude of "Hey, Adobe will get the hit not us."
Provide your users a feed-back mechanism; you'd be able to respond with the suggestion that they ping on the appropriate software houses to provide adequate software.
