Greyed out options on Apple loops on GarageBand ipod 5

i have some greyed out catagories for Apple loops in GarageBand, and I see that i can get some additional stuff free under in app purchases in the App Store, though I have no idea to get to it. How can I get the other loops?

I had a similar problem with songs greyed out and not syncing and apps not syncing either. I also tried multiple restarts and redownloading iOS5 etc. The one thing which seems to have sorted it out for me is buying a (free) app from the app store on my iphone and then syncing with itunes. Oddly enough this seems to have woken itunes up to the fact that stuff wasn't synced and started the process of a full sync.
A bit random and i read this on another thread, but it worked for me.

If iDVD was not preinstalled on your Mac you'll have to obtain it by purchasing a copy of the iLife 09 disk from a 3rd party retailier like Amazon.com: ilife 09: Software or eBay.com. Why, because iDVD (and iWeb) was discontinued by Apple over a year ago.
Why iLife 09 instead of 11?
If you have to purchase an iLife disc in order to obtain the iDVD application remember that the iLife 11 disc only provides themes from iDVD 5-7. The Software Update no longer installs the earlier themes when starting from the iLIfe 11 disk nor do any of the iDVD 7 updaters available from the Apple Downloads website contain them.
Currently the only sure fire way to get all themes is to start with the iLife 09 disc:

You then can upgrade from iDVD 7.0.3 to iDVD 7.1.2 via the updaters at the Apple Downloads webpage.
Export the slideshow out of iPhoto as a QT movie file via the Export button in the lower toolbar. Select Size = Medium or Large.
Open iDVD, select a theme and drag the exported QT movie file into the open iDVD window being careful to avoid any drop zones.
Follow this workflow to help assure the best qualty video DVD:
Once you have the project as you want it save it as a disk image via the File ➙ Save as Disk Image menu option. This will separate the encoding process from the burn process.
To check the encoding mount the disk image, launch DVD Player and play it. If it plays OK with DVD Player the encoding is good.
Then burn to disk with Disk Utility or Toast at the slowest speed available (2x-4x) to assure the best burn quality. Always use top quality media: Verbatim, Maxell or Taiyo Yuden DVD-R are the most recommended in these forums.
And yes, iDVD 7.1.2 will work with Mavericks.

Greyed out options on itunes "devices"

I have an ipod classic 5th or 6th gen and when i go to File\devices within itunes everything is greyed out apart from "transfer purchase from my ipod".
I have tried contacting Apple support who gave me a couple of options one of which was to buy help from them or they would send a link to me. I opted for the link which was absolutely useless and like looking for a needle in a hay stack.

Thanks Barney, I tried that but all that comes up in Spotlight are the log files that show the file paths! I don't know how Steam works. Are all the files held by Steam on their server perhaps?

i use to have many loops and stuff in my folder: computer>library>app.support>garageband>apple loops> 15 subfolders...
it used to work. now i cant see any loop in the browser anymore. its greyed out.
when i drop my folder onto the area, it loads for 2 sec. then nothing happens.
earlier days this worked always.
any idea?

Apple Loops in Garageband dont work!

In a standard garageband session i cant seem to make use of any of the apple loops in the loop finder. They are all grayed out but are still listed in full. when I try and play them a message comes up saying:
"You have already initiated the installation of additional content for GarageBand via Software Update. For additional information please open the 'Software Update' application."
However, nothing is downloading and every software update I try tells me that my mac is up to date!

What are Apple doing to rectify the problem that the Wifi icon is greyed out and you can no longer get onto Wifi!!

Broaden your perspective a bit. There are literally millions of phones out in the world without any issues at all. If you are reading posts on the internet about the ones with issues, then you would be left with the impression that they all have issues. Neither you nor I have data to support the existence of a widespread issue of this type.
Having said that, the only issue that matters is the one at hand; yours. Let's stay focused on that. Help is here and if we can't counsel you toward a software solution, then help will be available elsewhere, but at some cost to you.

Why greyed out options in iTunes radio, and other behavior

iOS 7.1.2 on a 4S.
In the past couple of days, when accessing the 'star' menu on the lower left hand side, the "play more like this" and "never play this again" are greyed out. Naturally, I can certainly "add to my wish list", because that will eventually cost money. Problem is, I need the other two options far worse than the only one it'll let me have. Especially the "never play this again" option.
Nothing precipitated this, it just started happening.
As well, iTunes radio has now started quitting randomly. Today, it would only get maybe 30-45 seconds into a song, then default to silence and sit there as if I'd only just opened up iTunes.
I've also noticed that using iTR on my laptop or iMac, I don't even get the options, just "add to wish list".
If anyone has a clue as to WTH is going on, I'd really appreciate it.

I've also noticed that some stations will operate normally, while others have this issue. At present, I only have two stations; one of them works and the other doesn't.

Unable to backup iPod (greyed out option)

I have my iTunes library set up to run from an external HD. At the moment the backup option on File > Devices is greyed out. I've found various solutions that suggest that that backups have been disabled on preferences and it should just be a matter of changing a setting in the run box (http://www.techimperial.com/how-to/disable-itunes-backup-sync/). However, despite doing this, and checking that this is correct in the .xml file, I am still unable to backup my iPod. It doesn't offer the option when I sync it, or try through File > Devices (and there's no options on the iPod summary screen either).
I've also tried the following: updated the iPod software, made sure I'm running the latest version of iTunes (11.3).
Could it be because I'm running iTunes from a library on my external HD? Any suggestions to fix this? I really don't want to have to resort to using the cloud.

That backup feature only applies to iOS devices, iPhone, iPod touch, & iPad. All of the content that goes onto to your iPod nano should already be in your library.

Help with "greyed out" option for Publishing a group of Parameters in Motion 5!

How do you group published parameters in Motion 5, so that you don't have one giant list of published options for Final Cut Pro X?
My main goal is To publish a compound parameter (a parameter with nested subparameters)
Looking through Motion Help, it should be as easy as clicking the little disclosure triangle on the right of the inspector, but the word "Publish" is greyed out...

I know I've looked at rigging, but based off the Motion Help Online Manual, It should be as simple as clicking on the option for publish and have nested subparameters...
Rigging is excellent, but more steps would be needed to do the same thing i believe...

Trying to explore publishing an iCalender for the first time but all my options for publishing are greyed out.
What am I missing out here?

but now everything is the same color!

Sign Document is greyed out, option not available

I am trying to sign a form I have filled out digitally, all fields are open including signature block but the Sign Document under tools is greyed out. the form's title includes "(SECURED)" after .pdf. is there a security setting I need to remove? The fields in the signature area are not digital signature fields, but rather are normal text fields, so it's intended for you to type your name. If the form did have digital signature fields you would be able to sign them. The type of security that they've applied does not permit you to create new digital signature fields, which is why Sign Document is greyed-out.

IPod Music Library "Greyed Out" in iTunes when I plug my iPod in... help!

Hi... not sure how to explain this, so I'll do my best... if anyone can help, I'd really appreciate it!
When I plug my video iPod into iTunes via USB, I can see all of the songs in my iPod's music library in iTunes, but they are all "greyed out." The songs in my iTunes are fine and can be accessed, but when I look in the iPod's music library in iTunes, all of the songs show up but are inaccessible. Any ideas??? I'd really appreciate any help!

Grey text when you look at the content and a lock symbol at the bottom of the screen just indicates that the iPod is set to sync automatically with iTunes. If you want to play the iPod songs through iTunes, delete songs from the iPod, drag songs from iTunes, add playlists to the iPod etc. you need to change the update setting to "manually manage songs and videos". The text will change from grey to black and everything will be directly accessible through iTunes:

Something to remember about using an iPod in manual mode is that the "Do Not Disconnect" message will remain on the display until you physically eject the device: Safely Disconnect IPod

How can I add apple loops into Garageband on the iPad so that they can be retrieved from the loops section of the app (and not via 'import')?

The issue with using the import function in the track is that you cant preview the sample and check it's suitability before you bring it in to the selected track.
If samples can be added to the Garageband 'Loop Library' - that would be graet. Can anyone help?

I think the Pearson people gave you the right advice. There is no way you can run a program that requires a Mac computer on an iDevice.
