Greyed out thumbnails

I'm new to lightroom 3.3.  I imported my Elements 9 catalog but all the thumbnails in the Library are greyed out.  The metadaa is there but no picture.  Help

  • When searching Google Images with FireFox, the first page of images are visible in thumbnails but all subsequent pages are greyed out.

This happens every time on a Google search. Greyed-out thumbnails will show individually if double-clicked. Every page of images after page 1 experiences the same problem. Reload does not help.
Is this a Google problem or a Firefox problem?

Doc: I've had a similar experience, and here are the details, investigation, and a workaround. My printer is a Brother MFC-645CN, and I'm using Snow Leopard (10.6.8) on a 2010 iMac quad i5 connected to the printer over my ethernet LAN. Are you using a Brother printer?
Firefox has shown this kind of nasty issue for the past six months or so. It seems to be related to the imaging algorithms in Preview when dealing with Firefox (now at v.12) and the Brother printer -- the screwy second page (and beyond) show up skewed and up-sized when doing a print preview also. No such problem seen in Safari or anything else. I am not currently using any other Mozilla apps on this Mac besides Firefox.
A few months ago I tested printing from my administrator account and  a different user account. Firefox printing was completely normal and as expected. When I went back to my main user account, back came the funky second page.I went through extensive troubleshooting to try to chase it down, systematically removing and replacing apps and preferences and many other Library files related to printing, Brother drivers, Firefox, and Preview. Nothing helped. Solution was to migrate my user files to an account where the printing problem wasn't happening. I deleted the problem user account.
Everything was fine for about three weeks, and then with no warning, printing was back to the bad second page, just as before. I am stumped, and I'll let smarter people try to figure it out. I use Firefox a lot, and it's possible that some add-on setting is interfering, or a web page I visited turned the printing funky again. I just don't know.
Also checked on a Mac G4 running Leopard (10.5.8) and Firefox 3.6.28. No printing/preview problems there.
Now, for the work-around I am currently using -- print each page separately, one at a time. Page 1, then page 2, etc. Preview and printing looks completely normal. Hope this works for you until the bug is located and squashed for good.

  • New Tab Page not showing thumbnails; browser.newtab.url reset is greyed out. What is my next step?

I have read this thread: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/934935 but the solution this user found apparently isn't available to me.
I cleared my cache and cookies the other day, and now my New Tab Page isn't populating with new thumbnails. I do have one thumbnail, a page I pinned, but all of the others haven't come back. I went into about:config and found browser.newtab.url, but the 'reset' option was greyed out. I haven't been able to find out what the next step is to restore my thumbnails; am hoping someone here can help. Thanks!

I do still see empty tiles on the about:newtab page - I have the one pinned page, from before I cleared my cache, and then 8 empty tabs. The disk cache contains information up until just a few minutes ago so yep, appears to be working fine.

  • Open in Camera Raw greyed out (Mac)

I am unable to open files in Bridge CS3 using this option which is greyed out. I have downloaded the latest upgrade (4.3) twice, checked the location of the plug in (...>CS3>File Formats), purged cache, checked permissions, read forum submissions here and still cannot find a solution. Powermac G4 i.25 GHz, 1 Gb DDR Ram, Mac OS 10.4.11, Adobe CS3, Photoshop 10.0.1, Bridge 2.1.1.9 Is there any other action I can take please?
    Thanks

<br /> While you're still running on such a miserly amount of RAM, make sure you do not let Photoshop use more than about 45% of available RAM, or you'll be starving the OS and Bridge of RAM.

  • Could you please tell me how to install "ThumbsDown" add on. I keep trying but it is greyed out. Note that I successfully added the "DownThemAll" add on.

I greatly appreciate any help you can provide in getting the "ThumbsDown" add-on to work on my imac. I am using "thumbsdown-0.22.2-3.xpi" with Firefox 33.0. I would like to go to a site like "http://hqcelebrity.org/thumbnails.php?album=302" where thumbnails are shown, get the links to the high resolution pictures and batch download them all. ( I can batch download the thumbnail pictures with "DownThemAll" or with "Outwit"), but not the high resolution pictures.
I tried installing "DownThemAll" but it seems to be greyed out in the Tools menu, and there is no icon at or near the location of the successfully installed "DownThemAll" icon. Your help and advice is greatly appreciated. Also, If you know an alternative to "ThumbsDown", please advise.
    Thanks kindly for your help,
    Sincerely,
    Bradley Katz

    Hello,
The ThumbsDown add-on appears to have last been updated over a year ago. You may want to email the developer to ask that they update so that it is compatible with the latest version of Firefox. Please see the articles [[Unable to install add-ons or extensions]] and maybe [[Re-enable add-ons that were disabled when updating Firefox]].
If you are sure that you want to install the add-on regardless of potential issues, you can install this extension:
    * https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/checkcompatibility/
I am not entirely sure how it works, but it sounds like you may need to go to your '''about:config''' page to change the '''extensions.checkCompatibility''' preference to false once it is installed. You might then be able to enable your ThumbsDown extension.
Note: you may want to back up your profile first, please see the article [[Back up and restore information in Firefox profiles]] for more information.
In order to change your Firefox Configuration please do the following steps :
    # In the [[Location bar autocomplete|Location bar]], type '''about:config''' and press '''Enter'''. The about:config "''This might void your warranty!''" warning page may appear.
    # Click '''I'll be careful, I promise!''' to continue to the about:config page.

  • The option to edit in Photoshop from lightroom is grey out.

I'm on a PC, been editing photos in lightroom. Just downloaded some photoshop presets. Edited some photos using the presets. Now when I go to edit photos using the photos/edit in...all options are greyed out. I've restarted my compute, updated both lightroom and photoshop (I have latest versions) talked online to Adobe support person and did all sorts of "stuff" beyond my level of understanding. Still doesn't work.  Sometimes the options are back in black and look like its going to work, but then photoshop doesn't open, and then the options turn to greyed out again. Please help!

I may be preaching to the choir but here are some tips on using PSE from within iPhoto:
Using Photoshop or Photoshop Elements as Your Editor of Choice in iPhoto.
1 - select Photoshop or Photoshop Elememts as your editor of choice in iPhoto's General Preference Section's under the "Edit photo:" menu.
2 - double click on the thumbnail in iPhoto to open it in Photoshop.  When you're finished editing click on the Save button. If you immediately get the JPEG Options window make your selection (Baseline standard seems to be the most compatible jpeg format) and click on the OK button. Your done.
3 - however, if you get the navigation window
that indicates that  PS wants to save it as a PS formatted file.  You'll need to either select JPEG from the menu and save (top image) or click on the desktop in the Navigation window (bottom image) and save it to the desktop for importing as a new photo.
This method will let iPhoto know that the photo has been editied and will update the thumbnail file to reflect the edit..
NOTE: With Photoshop Elements the Saving File preferences should be configured as shown:
I also suggest the Maximize PSD File Compatabilty be set to Always.  In PSE’s General preference pane set the Color Picker to Apple as shown:
Note:  to switch between iPhoto and PS or PSE as the editor of choice Control (right)-click on the thumbnail and select either Edit in iPhoto or Edit in External Editor from the contextual menu. If you use iPhoto to edit more than PSE re-select iPhoto in the iPhoto General preference pane. Then iPhoto will be the default editor and you can use the contextual menu to select PSE for your editor when desired.

  • I am complete novice as far as ipad air is concerned I have got lots working but Ihave gone to app store again but now the page is greyed out with a bright centr to get a game i do not want how do i get rid of this please

I am having trouble understanding my ipad going to the app store it comes up with  a greyed out page withe a bright centre for installing a program i do not want
How can I get rid of this? it is bugging me
    Herbette

I'm not exactly sure what you are seeing and what is happening, but try closing the App Store app, and then reset the iPad. See if that takes you out of that screen and allows you to navigate freely again.
Double tap the home button and you will see apps lined up going left to right across the screen. Swipe to get to the App Store app and then swipe "up" on the app preview thumbnail to close it.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

  • HT4650 In Finder, Desktop, it shows a zillion photos ...jpgs.. all greyed out.  I have no idea how they got there and they have been a nuisance since I cannot seem to get them off.  Tried dragging them to the trash, didn't help.

In Finder,  Desktop,  a zillion photos show .  I have no idea how they got to the desktop but have not been able to get rid of them.  They are listed as greyed out.  ON the Desktop I tried dragging them to the Trash.  If I try to empty trash, 'some of the items you are moving are in use by another application. etc.."  and now,  another, Copy   "Preparing to undo "move to Trash".

    Try an All Images Search:
    In the Finder:
    Command - f
    Kind: Images
Size: Greater than 300kb (This is to avoid all the thumbnails, icons and so on.)
Set it to search the Mac.
As to why? The most likely answer is user error, I'm afriad. It does point up the importantce of always having a back up.

  • AVCHD transcode greyed out

I'm trying to ingest footage I shot in AVCHD and transcode it to ProRes 422, but for some reason the transcode option is greyed out. Any ideas? I'm using a MacPro with NVIDIA graphics card and the latest MacOS.

    Hi,
Let's start with some basic questions and go from there.
    1. Did you set the check box on at least one media thumbnail?
    2. Is the "Transfer Clips to Destination" check box in the "Transcode Options" section of the Ingest Dialog checked?
Let us know if either of these fixed the issue. If not we will dig deeper.
    Thanks,
    Michael

  • Trying to create a signature, but all options greyed out except certificate

I have not found jack from web searching this. AFAICT none of the options should be greyed out. The PDF has no security restrictions, it's the IRS W-9 tax form PDF, first result if you Google "w9"
    (insert lots of swearing here)

    Hi,
Select>Color Range is only in photoshop (i.e photoshop cs6 or cc 2014 as examples) and not in photoshop elements.
You could double click on the layer thumbnail in the layers panel to unlock the layer.
Select the background with the Magic Wand Tool.
Then Edit>Cut and that should make everything but the actual logo transparent.
Then save as a png, tif or psd file.
There is also a photoshop elements forum

  • Photocasting icon greyed out

I am trying to photocast my library however the icon as well as the menu option is greyed out. I am a .mac user and have iphoto 6.0.2. I was wondering how I can resolve the problem. Thanks in advance.
    Marc

Place the images into a new folder (so you know which you've used).
Click once on this folder and all the image thumbnails should appear in the right window pane.
Select all (Command-A) and the Photocasting button should be available.

  • Within my iTunes store every single artwork is greyed out.

Hi,Within my iTunes store every single artwork is greyed out. This also happens on my iPad, iphone and other family members devices. Any Solutions?
This image gives you an idea of what is going on.

    Hey there Gouldde,
It sounds like you have multiple devices all exhibiting this issue where all the thumbnails in the iTunes Store are blank, but it otherwise loads. I would take a look at the Wi-Fi settings of the router to see if it are setup with the recommended options for iOS and Mac OS X:
iOS and OS X: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4199
If the issue persists, you should also test the device(s) with another Wi-Fi connection to help isolate it further.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    All the best,
    Sterling

  • Text wrap options are greyed out

    Hi,
I am trying to create a "drop cap" by selecting a text box and changing the wrap options in the inspector however, the "object placement" options to wrap the text are greyed out and I can not change them, except for the options below, such as "object causes to wrap" check box and the "text fit" boxes.
Is this a glitch? I have restarted both my program and whole computer, as well as tried it in a new document, and it still is coming up greyed out.
HELP, I have a project due and I need to be able to add in drop caps!
    Thanks

  • Wi-fi option on my ipod touch is greyed out?

    Hi,
My ipod touch won't connect via wi-fi and the option is greyed out when I try to connect manually. Two other ipod touches in my house are working fine. I've already reset it 3 times and no change.
    Help!

    See:
iOS: Wi-Fi or Bluetooth settings grayed out or dim
One user reported that placing the iPod in the freezer fixed the problem. A trick that works frequently with iPhones:
Settings > AirPlane Mode ON, Do Not Disturb ON
Power down and wait 5-10 minutes
    Power up
Settings > AirPlane Mode OFF, Do Not Disturb OFF
If not successful, an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is usually in order.
