Greyed out wifi and draining battery
My wifi is greyed out and my battery keeps draining after 10 hours while on stand by. I have to turn my phone off so I dont have to keep charging it, and turn on 3G everytime I need to check for messages. According to research, this is an ios 7 problem.
I'm really annoyed because my warranty has run out and I have to pay for a replacement of a phone which is out dated anyway.
Not sure whether to take it to a local phone shop and get the wifi chip and battery repaired or to just buy a new phone even though this replacement phone was given to my by apple in February.
Apple have lost me as a customer, and I declare to no longer buy from them.
Have exactly the same problem as you. I would sit tight if I were you. Might get a free replacement from Apple in near future

I have had a problem with my mabook pro since the last set of updates, I can't remeber which ones, however I now have greyed out audio and no battery dected.
I am pretty sure its a firmware problem, however any firmware I attempt to install I Recieve the follow error "This software is not compatable with your system" - I am at a total loss. All I need to do is force a firmware install on this thing and then I will be happy?

Is my iPhone 4 greyed out wifi and non working bluetooth software or hardware... seems that the forums are full of this issue with no consistent or official answer. is it all coincidence that so many are having the problem? Please help... I have scoured the net trying everything the last few days.
Please correct your porfile: iPhone 4 do not have IOS 6.1.4.
The usual troubleshooting steps are, also remember to test it after every step:
1. Restart
2. Reset
3. Restore from backup
4. Restore as new.
If no joy, make an Appointment with the Apple genius and have them evaluate -
I am in such a predicament - phone not been quite right since the 6.1 update and I was tolerating the inconvenience of switching off and on etc etc for the past couple of months and now the wifi and bluetooth are totally greyed out all the time - did every restore possible including back to factory settings - still no luck - please don't tell me that trying all the solutions over the past 2 months that temporarily worked for a few days at a time will now mean I have timed myself out of the 1 year warranty? arghhhhh (I can't believe that such an issue will create the response 'oh well, your problem - best just buy another one' ???)
I can't just drop everything and drive to the apple store and wait for hours every time there's a 'glitch' otherwise I may as well move nextdoor to the mall. They tell you to try and solve it yourself first - which I did - and now it's not responding to anything I try, will I be told - 'too late, out of warranty'???
I see theres an update for the iphone 5 that fixes wifi bugs - what about us 4s owners? even my 3 year old 3gs is still working on wifi (haven't dared to update it!) so don't start telling me to expect that the iphone will only last 13 months - NOT AT $600 a piece

then a restore. then a factory restore....then ..... nothing fixes so I try the next step with apple online - fill out my serial number and find it is a couple of weeks out of date - and then with the holidays who has time to get to the apple store? this is my second 4s handset as it is - first one the glass cracked from L to R without any impact/damage etc - they changed it out automatically because it's a 'known fault' apparently - so technically, this handset is only 6 months old - but warranty is from original purchase date -
never imagined it would turn out to be a warranty issue with the phone - and hey maybe when I get a chance to go to the apple store they'll be sympathetic, but I won't be able to get there till at least Jan 4th as it is. On the other hand, another iOS update might resolve the issue - but how long till that release? at the moment I'm having to use my old 3gs for wifi and 4s for phone!!! -

I bought apple iPad on this July , it's been only two months but now I'm getting a problem like no wifi it's greyed out sometimes and showing no wifi... Please help I'm frustrated on this , did they provided me a fault device ??

i had greyed out wifi on my iphone 4s, looked on the net how to fix it and it said to use a hairdryer which worked it greyed out again 5 mins after, so i did it again this happened 3 times then the 4th time the screen went white any ideas whats happned an how to fix it?
No, sounds like when you dropped it an cracked the screen it may have also damaged the logic board or the repair person damaged a cable.

IOS 6.1.3 problems, entering passwords and greyed out wifi
Since upgrading to iOS 6.1.3, I've had many issues! Firstly, I got the greyed out wifi screen... Now I've spoken to a few people before, they said that it is a hardware related issue, which I find really hard to believe unless the os messed up something on my motherboard... Wifi was working perfectly find before I updated the iOS!
Second issue I've been having is entering passwords... On a couple of websites, an apps, whilst entering passwords, safari would crash, this also happened when I was entering a password on google chrome...
Really bad update just to fix the Passcode by pass which it would take someone with a masters degree to figure out!!! Any help would be appreciated!The update stressed the chipset past the breaking point. It was already failing before the update. Now that it's been updated, it's detected the failure.

Hi! i just got myself a iphone 4S a few days ago
yesterday my wifi couln't find anything, so i just did the reset network settings
when my iphone started up again, my wifi button greyed out and i couln't do a thing with it
or see something only the greyed out wifi button,
i tried everything apple support told me
all types of reset's with and without back-up
reset via itunes, you name it ...
my iphone isn't jailbroken..
i looked on the internet and found alot forums with people complaining about this issue..
and apple still doesn't have a good solution too it.. they should be a shamed too sell such a expensive smartphone, with alot of promisses
but when there is a issue we are on our own... or they only have a solution that works with 50% of the people who has trouble with wifi
i bought my iphone on the internet, so now i have to send it back to italie so they can send me back a new one (7 days guarantee)
even this i really don't like, there is a apple store 30km from my place, but i can't replace my iphone there.
i thought apple was apple.. and they worked with the serial numbers.. but no..
i was so happy about all my products of apple (macbook pro, ipod nano,..) always good service but now...
does somebody knows a solution because if i have to wait untill apple solved the problem...

Hi all. Greyed out WiFi on iPhone 4s ios6.
Had this problem for a week. Called apple, no help. Tried restore, all the tips on here and no fix, finally
Saw a video on you tube of a guy who put his in the freezer.
Switched it off, wrapped it in kitchen roll and put it in the freezer
For 10-15 mins. It worked. I have had to do it 3 times since then. But at least I

Unless the unknown passcode is NOT in the backup you can't restore from backup. -

I'm having the exact same problem... Just got a replacement today (the block button had stopped working) and now I can't connect to wi fi... I'm trying to reset it as a new iphone right now. Hope it works. I'll let you know.

Why did carefully over heating my 4s restore the wifi function? This, after 2 months of mysteriously grey out wifi buttons, loads of time trying to resolve issue with apple tech only to be told I must pay $199 to repair the problem. I'm disillusioned now

Also, make a backup to iTunes of the device. Then restore it as a new device. If you still have wi-fi greyed out, then contact Apple again, and explain that you believe you have a hardware issue. They may still ask for a $19 deposit, but if it is actually hardware related, then you won't be charged the $19. Only if it is software related do you get charged that $19. -
Why is my Wi-Fi greyed out? Why does battery not hold a charge longer than a few hours? All since upgrade to IOS 7.
To validate the operating system and radio software complete the following steps:

I´m from Argentina, I have an Iphone 4s 32GB purchased on June 2012.
When I updated to Ios 7.00 no wifi issues. Last week I updated to 7.0.2 instantly starts wifi issues, over heating and stopped working. I was tried every I read in this post and others and nothing change. I Tried hard reset to factory settings and nothing. I am sure that the problem is with Ios 7.0.2, because the problem start at this moment.
Anybody knows if Apple will release a fix for this bug?
