Grid Control alerting at a later time

Hi All,
We made a no Archive log database into archive log mode. We had this database on one server and the grid control on the server. Both show the same time stamp. But the alert came from OEM Grid came as :
OEM GRID : Timestamp=Mar 19, 2009 9:12:48 PM EST - - ( The Occurrance of the Archive log event )
Time Sent from Mail Server : Friday, March 20, 2009 3:16 AM
What could be the reason for this. Can anyone help me in fixing this please.

So grid fired the alert at time x, and time sent from the mail server was much later.
Now, have you investigated the mail server? Was your message queued?
Have you checked out the sysman.MGMT_NOTIFICATION_LOG table for any errors/issues?
I'm guessing its not a critical issue as it taken you a while to get back on this

Run Singlular Database Control and Grid Control Agents at the same time????

Hello,
I have walked into a new job where one of my 1st tasks is installing and configuring EM Grid Control version 10.2.0.3. Most of the individual databases already have singular EM/Database Control also set up for basic monitoring - some are 10.2.0.1 databases; some are 9.2.0.7 databases.
Can I continue to run the existing singular EM Database Controls for monitoring and managing the databases while I am getting connected, the new agents up and running, and the Grid Control templates and alerts and notification fully set up?
Or will I have to shut down those agents fully prior to installing the new 10.2.0.3 agents???
I am hoping so since they use different communication ports of 1158 for the singular Database Controls versus 4889 for Enterprise Wide Grid Control.

OK, so as long as I keep the homes separate & straight, I could conceivably allow them both (Database Control and Grid Control Agent) to run AND be used at the same time - even when using secured grid control (https), correct? Just have the separate homes for separate agents and use separate ports for the different consoles?
Of course I might still run into an issue with this, ass I am also in the process of securing Grid Control... The current Database Console used by the app users to monitor is NOT an https url...
The real reason for this is because some app users are used to using the EM Database Control for application monitoring. I would like to not take that away from them while I am in the process of setting up all of the users, roles, alerts, groups, etc. on Grid Control.

How to read grid control alert_queue

I am trying to capture all grid control alerts to log into a table for third-party monitoring tool. How do I differentiate between the ALERT_QUE for the database running on the GC box (EMREP) versus the ALERT_QUE for all tarets being monitored?
If I subscribe to SYS.ALERT_QUE which I get all alerts within GC or just the box it is running on?

Sending alerts from grid control to tivoli tec

Hi Guys
We are working on a requirement where we want to integrate grid control 11g with Tivoli Tec which in turn is connected to our helpdesk ticketing and monitoring system.

First. You must to understatn that each metric had a interval time for each recopilation. Check your database target --> Metrics and Policy issues --> Invalid objects by schema or Total invalid objects count
These metrics have a interval of 24 hours (this is my situation) Check your situation and change the interval. After these you see that the information change in your OMS.
For see the clean button
Open your Grid Control Console
Go to Alerts --> Warning
Select database and press go
You will see that the Clean button appear and checkbox for each warning alert that its possible manual clean you will see the checkbox to activate
The Critical Alerts can't clean manualy. The GC clean the alert when the situation change.
You can see the evolution in the metric values it you select the alert

How to send mail from UDM ALERT in Oracle 10 Grid control

I have created a UDM alert in Grid control for a specific target which is sheduled to run every 15 Minutes.So if the sql query which will run for every 15 min returns any records then it will generate the alerts.*If there is any alerts thrown I should immediately send a mail from UDM .How to do this?*

Alert Log File Monitoring of 8i and 9i Databases with EM Grid Control 10g

Is it possible to monitor alert log errors in Oracle 8i/9i Databases with EM Grid Control 10g and EM 10g agents? If yes, is it possible to get some kind of notification?
I know that in 10g Database, it is possible to use server generated alerts, but what about 8i/9i?

i am interested in a very special feature: is it possible to get notified if alerts occur in alert logs in an 8i/9i database when using Grid control and the 10g agent on the 8i/9i systems?
Moreover, the 10g agent should be able to get Performance Data using the v$ views or direct sga access without using statspack, right?
Do you know where I can find documentation about the supported features when using Grid Control with 8i/9i databases?

Configuring Beacons for sending alerts in OEM grid control

We have a requirement where we need to configure the beacons to send email alerts when there is a service failure for the services that are monitored by Beacons.

I am new to Grid control and want to know how to disable alert for UNDO tablespace full.

You should post in the grid control foruma.
But just go to databases, select your database, metric and policy settings, find the tablespace metric, edit and exclude the undo tablespace.

How to setup DISK SPACE alert on OEM 10g Grid Control...

I am trying to setup DISK SPACE notification / alert thru OEM 10g Grid Control, but so far no luck.
Can someone help/guide me on how to achieve this?

Those two links don't say anything about "DISK SPACE ALERT" I already know how to setup notification. I suppose you are talking about Filesystem Space Available (%)
If you need to setup an alert (Notification) then i suppose you need to setup an notification rule.
Yes, these notes do not have the key word "DISK SPACE ALERT" you are looking for, but if you go through the first note CLEARLY and COMPLETELY, you should find your answer.
And he has given an example for Filesystem space available in this note, which is what you are looking for.(I think so)
Say for Disk Space, you create a notification rule for target hosts and have metric "Filesystem Space Available (%)" defined in that rule.
If you aren't talking about notifications and just want to setup an filesystem space available metic, then follow this note:

Lengthen idle time in Grid Control

Grid control automatically logs out after period (about 10mins) of inactivity. Is there a way to lengthen the idle time in Grid Control? grid control version is 10.2.0.2.

Thanks. that worked. The line you suggested applied to every users in the Grid Control. Would it be possible to set the inactivity time differently for different users like the idle_time in the database profile?

OEM Grid Control taking a long time to load tablespace information

We use OEM Grid control to monitor many dev/tst/prd databases. OEM is taking a long time to load the tablespace page information on one of our RAC databases (only one all other dbs ok). I have tried going to 1 instance in the environment and it still takes a long time to load the information about all tablespaces in this database. OEM Path is
Cluster: crs > Cluster Database: sid > Database Instance: sid_instance1 > Tablespaces
This is a development environment and it is not a very busy database at this time. Anyone else encounter an issue like this with OEM?

It used to take 4 minutes to view my tablespaces in OEM !!! Now I have sub second response time !
Still find it strange that the size of the recyclebin would have such an effect when viewing tablespace info in OEM. By the way it also sped up the viewing of datafiles in OEM.

Can grid control display / give realistic estimates' of where a problem is occuring.

Grid control notification cannot send email for alert message.

We have grid control work fine in sending out email. But we cannot receive it lately. I followed the note 285093.1 for trouble shooting. I found that in the file <OMS HOME>/sysman/log/emoms.log or emoms.trc of the following repeated error:

Yes, I did that in following up the metalink note 285093.1 and 356774.1. There is not broken job in the repository database for sysman. There was one before. Then I checked the emoms.trc file and saw the error ORA-01017: invalid username/password; logon denied.
I think the problem is likely due this error, as so far I did not see any other error. On grid control, I also did repository operation => notification check and the email sending test. They are all fine without any error.
