Grid Control cannot determine primary host architecture

Dear all
i try to create new standby database for my oracle rac database (2 node) in grid control 10.2.0.2 but after first step of wizard i get this error without any oraerr number : "cannot determine primary host architecture" , but i have all database target items correct ,up and running include ( ASM,Listener,Cluster,Host,Agent,Database instance)
please help me how i can resolve this error
Oracle RAC version :10.2.0.1 (windows 2003 R2 X64)
Oracle Grid Control Agent ( 10.2.0.2 ) for windows X64
Oracle Grid Control 10.2.0.1 windows 2003 R2 32bit

Hi all,
I'm trying to create a stand by database with the same tools as described above. My configuration is the same.
I've checked in my database and I already got the value 'Intel Pentium' described in the query. I tried the query anyway but, as I was expecting, it didn't solve anything for me.
If somebody could explain a bit on what actually generate this error and what OMS is looking for in MGMT_TARGET_PROPERTIES, it would be great.
If I find anything I'll update this post.

    2) Can see SDM as running in sapmmc
    2) the J2EE engine in the SAP netweaver developer studio shows SDM as green color
    With parameters
    state  Running

Is there any problem with SDM. I have found quite a number of threads but knon could solve the problem. The problem looks more so complciated since I was able to deploy yesterday but am unable to today.
    Appreciate any help
    regards

Make sure that your NWDS has the j2ee engine linked to it.  Under windows->preference->SAP j2ee engine.
If it is configured here, then you should be good.  If it is still not working, try to reboot the j2ee engine and try again.

  • Grid control cannot discover a database

I have an agent configured on a windows server with GC on linux.
GC knows about the agent and can see the host. However, when I try and discover the database I keep getting connection time outs. The agent on the windows server is running and uploading files.
I can ping the windows box from GC and visa versa
I can ping the host names too.
    Can anyone help out.
    regards
    Alan

Have you tried manually adding it or is that what you mean by 'discovering'?
also from the grid server, can you run up bog standard sqlplus and add the relevant to the relevant tnsnames.ora and just try connecting via sqlplus or use tnsping just to make sure that bit is ok.

  • Grid control switchover issue

    Hi,
I have carried out the following
    a 10g database install on 2 servers
enabled dataguard between them so I have a primary and a standby database.
I then installed Grid Control onto each server using the opetion to install into an existing database. this worked.
On the standby server opmnctl is shutdown and the database is a PHYSICAL STANDBY.
when I do a dataguard switchover I see the standby database is now the primary. I restart opmnctl and go to the web browser to look at Grid Control.
The issue I have is that Grid Control, even though it is on the standby server, points to the primary server. How can I change this behaviour
When I first started Grid Control I had to perform the following actions
    [oracle@griddg bin]$ ./emctl status emkey
Oracle Enterprise Manager 10g Release 3 Grid Control
Copyright (c) 1996, 2007 Oracle Corporation. All rights reserved.
    Please enter repository password:
The Em Key exists in the Management Repository, but is not configured properly or is corrupted in the file system.
Configure the Em Key by running "emctl config emkey -repos".
    [oracle@griddg bin]$ ./emctl config emkey -repos
Oracle Enterprise Manager 10g Release 3 Grid Control
Copyright (c) 1996, 2007 Oracle Corporation. All rights reserved.
    Please enter repository password:
The Em Key has been configured successfully.
after this gridcontrol was able to start but points to the wrong host.

    hi,
the steps I took are as follows
1 - precreate a database on the primary and standby.
2 - configure the tnsnames and listener files so that the databases can talk to each other
3 - create a standby control file from the primary database.
4 - copy all database files from the primary to the standby
5 - copy the standby controlfile to the standby
6 - start the primary database
7 - start the standby database but only mounted, check database_role from v$database; it should be physical standby
8 - install Grid Control on the primary server with the option to install onto an existing database. Complete this installation.
9 - Install Grid Control onto the standby server with the option to install onto an existing database. Complete the installation and then carry out an 'opmnctl stopall'
10 - all being well Grid Control should now show both hosts and databases.
11 - create a dataguard configuration from within GC
The standby database cannot be discovered correctly in GC and this must be because it is in a mount state, not sure what to do about this. This then meant that I had to carry out a switchover from the command line. I am just testing this now and will post back when complete.

  • Integrate an existing standby to Grid Control

I've inherited a Grid Console with any info about it. Db hosts are on Solaris with Grid Control on Windows. 10gR2.
I have a 2 node RAC db integrated with Grid Control as a Primary db. I want to add it's existing single node physical standby to Grid Control. When I try to add the target host, I get the following message:
You cannot add a host target from Enterprise Manager Grid Control.
To add a host target, install the Oracle Management Agent on the host computer you want to manage. When the Management Agent begins communicating with the Oracle Management Service, the Management Agent target and the Host target will appear in the list of targets.
    1. How can I check if the Oracle Management Agent is installed on the target host?
    2. If it's not installed, how would I install and /or configure it? Any notes on this?
    Thanks.
    Edited by: FeNiCrC_Neil on Feb 13, 2009 10:01 AM

When I tried to install Management Agent on the standby box using OUI, I got the message:
The specified Management Service on host waptermserv01.xxx.xx at port 4889 is unreachable. Check the connection details for the Management Service to ensure that you entered the value for the host name correctly.
How/where do I find/check the connections details for the Management Service? I am using the correct hostname and port as seen in Grid Control. I can ping between the Grid Control box and the standby box. Anybody?
    Thanks.

  • Oracle 10.2.0.3 Grid Control and ReNew the IP Address

    Hello
I have installed Grid Control and added few hosts and was working fine. But I have changed the IP address of Grid Server host. I mean I have been given new IP address for Grid Control host.
I have changes the ip address in /etc/hosts and reboot the server. But Grid Control Console page is not coming up on IE. Help Please...
    Regards
    Sindhi

It has been sorted out. As Grid Control use FQDN and it do not use IP address. Just I changes the IP address and FQDN was same. I was forgot to change IP address from Terminal Server where I was accessing Grid Control Console using IE. Thanks for you both to response my query.

  • Add WebLogic Domain to OEM Grid Control

On a host, say x, i have installed OEM grid Agent Version: 11.1.0.1.0. The host is listed on OEM grid control. On this host i have a weblogic domain version 10.3.3. Now i am trying to add this weblogic domain to OEM 11g grid control which is on a different host.
    It gives the following error
Error: Failed to connect to agent x:3872
Failed to connect to agent x:3872. Reason: java.net.UnknownHostException: x.
Only an agent 11.1 or later can be used for finding targets.
    How can i solve this?

bummer.. any response? I'm getting the same error now, and the documentation isn't all that clear gasp

  • Grid control is not showing targets

    hi
i have grid control agent installed on windows 2000. i have a 9i database and a 10g database on the same node and i can see and access these from my grind control.
i have another database 10g on my another windows machine and i installed agent there and my grid control can access that node, agent and database.
I have one 9.2 database on Red Hat Linux Advance server 4 and i installed agent there and i have a 10g database on another Red Hat Linux Advance server 4 machine and i installed agent there also. My grid control cannot view and access these two linux nodes, agents and databses on these two linux nodes. Agents are running successfullly on these two nodes and when i view the status of agent on these two linux nodes, i see that agent is running successfully and a message "Last successfull heart beat to OMS" displays the time when last tim agent ping tha OMS and it is updated every minute and it means that that my agent is communicating with the OMS but i really cant see these two nodes in my Enterprise Manager Grid Control.
Is there any conflication that i cannot administor Linux nodes from Windows OMS?
    Regards

I think all data aren't getting uploaded to oms side , Would you please try to manually upload the data from agent side by using emctl upload commamd
I suspect it would throw the error ie" unable to upload bdbbfb.xml file "
Let me know the result .

  • Naming database inside Grid Control

    Hi,
I have one question about database names in Database tab of Grid Control.
    What is happening:
I have static definition of my services in the listener.ora file, and when I have installed Grid Control Agent on this node
Oracle registers name like this in my databases tab of Grid Control:
    DBNAME_HOSTNAME.DBDOMAIN
I want to register my database like dbname.dbdomain. Is it possible? Can I have any control of naming of databases in Grid Control?
When I haven’t static definition of services in my listener.ora file, database is good registrated (*dbname.dbdomain*).
    Thanks,
    Best regards
    Dragan

Yes you have control of naming databases in Grid Control.
When you add a database target to grid control, after chosing the host you'll see the databases on that host. Under the databases there is an option: "Manually add" If you chose this option you can name the database target however you want. so you can delete the database target from grid, and add again with manual option...

  • Unable to connect to Database using Grid Control

    Hi,
I am attempting to connect to my Oracle Linux Machine which has 2 databases FROM my 10g Grid control which is on a Windows XP 32 bit.
Although I can login to the actual linux box with the host and database credentials ; I cant use the same to login to the database using Grid control.
I have tried testing the connection using Grid Control >> Preferences >> Preferred Credentials >> Host ; but its just not recognizing the credentials as correct.
When I attempt to startup the database using the host and DB credentials : ERROR MESSAGE : <servername> : <servername> comes up.
My agent on linux box is up. My Listener is running fine.
On my Grid control .. i have the DB, OMS, and Agent running as well.
Any inputs on this issue, I'd appreciate very much.

    Thanks for your reply.
Under Hosts on the Main Grid Console Home Page >> "server3.sam" Status shows UP. This server houses my 2 databases. But when I click on Databases >> it shows Instance DOWN.
    Status
    Failed
Details          Failed to connect to database instance: ORA-12541: TNS:no listener (DBD ERROR: OCIServerAttach).
I have verified that my lsnrctl status is good on the linux box. My target agent is up and running on it as well.
    So I try to start the STARTUP button >> I enter the HOST Credentials of the Linux box and the Database credentials which I use "SYS" (in upper case - just in case that mattered) and choose SYSDBA ;
    Error Message
    server3.sam: server3.sam
I created a new dba account and try to login ... dont seem to work ; I tried using SYSTEM account and even altering my sys and system passwords .. all turn out negative.
And the ANSWER to your question ---> Grid Control >> Preferences >> Preferred Credentials >> Database Instance >> corresponding to my database name ; I enter my sysdba username / password AND the host username / password of my Linux box >> TEST >> which also turns out negative.
This entry is auto filled in since I "checked" the box "Save as Preferred Credential"; initially when I tried to start the DB using the STARTUP button.
By the way, my Win XP doesnt really have a password set under User accounts.
    Any suggestions please ?

  • Oracle 10.2 Grid Control – Adding Database residing on different hosts

I used to work with Oracle 9.2 Enterprise Manager. Now I have installed Oracle 10.2.0.2 Grid Control on Windows 2000. I want to do database administrator from Oracle Grid Control for Oracle 9i, Oracle 10.1 and 10.2 databases. I do not want to install any agents on my database servers because they are production servers,
All of I am interested in to have nice user interface of Oracle 10g grid control, so I can do database administration such as adding a database file, looking at database users, sessions etc. I was able to do all of that with Oracle9i enterprise manager. IN Oracle9i EM, one can manually add a database instance if it cannot be discovered using an agent. Is it possible to do that in Oracle 10g grid control?
When I start Grid Control, go to targets tab and then database tab and want to add a database, it asks for host name. When I enter hostname (which is accessible from the network), it says host not found. Is an agent required on the host before Grid Control can recognize it. In Oracle 9i enterprise manager, there was an option to manually add a database (i.e. automatic discovery was not successful), is it possible to do that with Oracle 10g grid control.

Over the years, working with Oracle, I've found tremendous value in reading the docs. You might find similar value doing that too.
The only issue you seem to have is an unwillingness to learn the architecture and concepts behind the product you are trying to install. You get rid of the error by deleting the entry and doing it correctly.
There is no way to drop a brick on your foot and not have it hurt. <g>

  • How to add new host to 11g grid control

I have install silently oem agent 11g in a solaris system. The installation was successful and agent is up and running.
But the thing is I can't add this client and its database in my OEM Grid Control interface. When I try to add the target it shows the bellow error
    Information
You cannot add a host target from Enterprise Manager Grid Control.
To add a host target, install the Oracle Management Agent on the host computer you want to manage. When the Management Agent begins communicating with the Oracle Management Service, the Management Agent target and the Host target will appear in the list of targets.
My Question is how i can the target's agent can communicate with OMS agent? and How this target can be incorporated?

    Hi,
the host and agent targets should show up right after installation of the agent, if securing was successful. I assume the error happened somewhere there.
Can you please paste the output of following command:
    $ORACLE_HOME/bin/emctl status agent
where ORACLE_HOME is set to your newly installed agent?
Also, please check if you see any errors in $ORACLE_HOME/sysman/log/emagent.log and emagent.trc about communication between the agent and your OMS.
    Best regards,
    Robert
