Grid Control EMC Clariion Metric Collection Error

Hi,
I just deployed the EMC Clariion plugin and I get a metric collection error:
Storage Processor Configuration Collection Failure
Can't call method "che_freemem" on un undefined value at /<agent_path/sysman/admin/scripts/emx/emc_clariion_storage/emc_clariion_processor.pl line 127.
Anyone got any idea?

It could be a parsing error due to unstrucured format of the navicli out put.
other metrics and reports should work fine.
Not a consistent error . Not seen on other deployments.

i just confirured OEM11G(11.1.0.1) on my client test machine and installed 11.1.0.1 agent on one target where 10.2.0.4 database is running. OS is windows 2003 R2.
after installing the agent, i am able to see the database name in the oem --> database tab. but its status is "metric collection error" how ever i am able to see the details about datafiles etc..but in the status sheet it is showing as "metric collection error". i checked the dbsnmp user name and pasword. both are working. i tried to reconfigure the databae manually. it is erroring out with the following error.
oracle.sysman.emSDK.emd.comm.CommException: IOException in sending Request :: Connection refused: connect
Can any body help me to take it forward.

I would check the agent trace file (<AGENT_HOME>\sysman\log\emagent.trc) to see if this gives you any information. To give the Log on as batch privilege will not help (to what user?) I think. It will if you start patching using Grid Control.
Are you sure the target db is 10.2.0.4? Because it was a issue in 10.2.0.3 and cursor_sharing=similar

Metric Collection Errors

I am using a 10.2 OEM agent to monitor various database versions (8i,9i,10g). I understand that using a 10.2 agent on an 8i database is not supported.... from what I have seen, you must use a 10.1 OEM agent. However, we would like to upgrade our 8i databases and therefore do not want to lower our OEM agent version to accomodate something that will phase out soon. In the meantime, I am getting collection errors. Some I was able to fix since error message had perl line number in it.... I know this is unsupported, but hopefully Oracle could list it as a valid work-around. There are just a few messages left:
Target MYDB
Type Database Instance
Metric Data Base parameter collection, Remote Password File, Remote OS Roles and Authentication, DB Password Setting

Message ORA-00900: invalid SQL statement
This was really 4 different metric error messages. Does anyone have suggestions of how to clear these error messages? I am fine with not collecting this info for our v8 databases. I was wondering if I could delete from sysman.MGMT_CURRENT_METRIC_ERRORS?
Or if someone knows how to fix these last few errors, that would be even better.

1. Used Note:373394.1 to grant appropriate privs
2. modified perl scripts until collection errors were resolved.
a) Ran the following statements on Oracle 8.1.7.4 database:
alter system set "_new_connect_by_enabled" = TRUE;
grant select on sysauth$ to dbsnmp;
3. have a handful (5 or 6) of errors left with no perl filenames, line numbers, etc. I would like to figure out how to either suppress these or resolve them so that I don't have to manually filter through metric errors trying to determine which are valid and which are not.

The error is due to failure in internal computation of the SQL Server Host related information.
Ensure that
1. All pre-requisites (specified in SQL Server plug-in Installation Guide) are satisfied
2. Provided property values for discovery of the SQL Server target are correct
- JDBC URL has correct port number
- If you are using older version of SQL Server plug-in, the name of SQL Server
instance that you provided is correct

Atempt to start OMS for Grid Control 11g fails with - Unexpected error occu

Repository DB is 11.2.0.1
Both the Grid Control and DB server are running in same machine - redhat 5.
When trying to start the oms, this fails with the below error:

In emgc.properties, I have MSPORT=7202.
I have used the notes in Metalink 1287904.1, but without resolution.
I am able to connect with sqlplus, with user sysman, without issues. There are no invalid objects under sysman.

Grid Control install on existing DB error

During an attempt to install GridControl on an existing database (10.1.0.3). I get this error:
Your system currently has 2mb of ram. Enterprise Manager using an existing database requires at least 512 of physical memory.
There us plenty of memory on the box. It doesn't continue after checking the OK message. Any suggestions. Its reading the memory wrong.

Database patched 10.2.0.3-10.2.0.4 Error on Grid Control :Failed to connect

HI my patch was laready on 10.2.0.4 and just upgraded by databse from 10.2.0.3 to 10.2.0.4
though database and listener and agent are up and running at the OS
but on Grid Control I'm getting the error under
'Agent'
Failed to connect to database instance: ORA-01034: ORACLE not available.
Any Idea guys

I would check whether Oracle was still available. With the current state of Oracle software you never know.
If Oracle was available I would try to use sqlplus to connect to the database using the dbsnmp account.
If that works, it is SR time.
As you don't specify any O/S information, it is difficult to tell you more, especially as some releases of Oracle on some processors are flaky, and Oracle can not always reproduce the problems in house.

Monitoring a 9.2.0.3 database instance in Grid Control 11gR1

Hi,
we configured EM Grid Control 11gR1 for monitoring some database instances. The monitoring works fine for the versions 9.2.0.1, 10.2.0.4 and 11gR2 , but we cannot configure it for version 9.2.0.3 and version 9.2.0.6.
The main page of 9.2.0.3 and 9.2.0.6 instances reports "Metric Collection Error" and every configuration (with Statspack or without, enable metrics or disable them) gives the same message.
I know that EM 11R1 is certified only for 9.2.0.8 but it seems strange that it works for version 9.2.0.1 (even if most features are disabled) and it don't works for the others 9.2 versions.
Someone has the same issue? Any suggestion ?

Monitoring Coherence from Grid Control 11g

Hi folks!
I have setup Grid Control 11g and I have a couple of hosts where I have installed Coherence.
After installing the agent I just can see the host being monitored. I tried to add the target manually. It asks me for a JMX remote port. The default seems to be port 3000. However this is not active on the Coherence machine.
I started the Coherence Cache Server (cache-server.sh) with the options to switch on the remote management but I still see nothing and have a Metric Collection Error.
Any ideas?

Oracle Grid Control 10.2.0.3 can´t configure databases

I installed the Grid Agent (10.2.0.5) in host1 for monitoring the database (10.2.0.5) inside him. I did the same in host2, that has Agent (11.1.0.1) and Database (11.2.0.2). Both Agents are pointing to the same Grid Control Management Server.
Grid control has a separated server with Grid Control OMS and Agent installed (10.2.0.3).
This host1 was added to the grid control target hosts, and the database too. The secure option is disabled.
First Problem: metrics collection error in Grid Control for database target.
My Solution: Deconfigured the Oracle DBControl in host1 and host2 (it was configured with a local repository) dropping the repository, and I used | emca -config agent | to create a link to the agent in local machine.
New state: Now the OEM show the targets apparently been monitored. When a target fall down the OEM send allerts normally.
Second Problem: When I click in a host, database, listener, or any of the targets, intending the log in the instance it take about 5 minutes and returns: "No Response from Application Web Server There was no response from the application web server for the page you requested. Please notify the site's webmaster and try your request again later. "
My solution: I didn´t find one. HELP!
For coincidence, all databases actually monitored (8) are 10.2.0.4 or down. All of these can be managed by click in target names by OEM. Could it be the version of the new databases?

We already have Grid Control 10.2.0.4 and just installed AD4J 10.2.0.4. This version of AD4J is not integrated with Grid Control, and can be setup on any server by unzipping the downloaded file (no installer). I did find the installation/configuration documentation lacking, but worked through it with a little help from Oracle Support.
The AD4J console has the look and feel of Grid Control, but is totally separate app with its own Apache server, etc.

I have some errors under "All Targets Alerts".
They are defined as "metric evaluation errors"
How do I get rid of them?
All errors are "Collection Failure" during installation of Agent....

If you click on the "metric evaluation error" icon or the number to its right (depending on the screen you're looking at) it will usually direct you to the metric and an error of what's broke.
The hard part is usually trying to fix it as the error messages most times aren't too helpfull.

Contact Microsoft Support to fix the issue in Performance Monitor's PhysicalDisk object counter since "nmupm diskactivity" gets the information from the PhysicalDisk object counter.
