Grid control mass deploy to upgrade from 10.2.0.3 to 10.2.0.5

mass deploy seems to only allow fresh installs and then upgrdes from 10.1 to 10.2.
is there any way to do a mass deploy to upgrade from 10.2.0.3 to 10.2.0.5?

Binaries will be copied over (O/S imaging) and data will be replicated using SRDF(SAN Replication) from source A and the database containing OMS/repository will be brought up on the target destination B in a new subnet. So my question is as what configuration files do i need to change once its on target server. Please any input will be appreciated.Hi ,
I hope your hostname will remain same... If it is like that then you dont have to make any changed anywhere...
You you need to make changes only on hosts files with new ip address on all target servers..
And if hostname is changed, then you will have to reinstall OMS..
    Please read

Also GRID 10.1.0.5 is unsupported and it contains lot of BUGS so i would suggest you to upgrade it to 10.2.0.5*

  • Performance problem for mass transactions after upgrade from 4.7 to ECC6.0

    Hi All,
After upgrade from 4.7 to ECC 6.0 (IS-U), mass transactions such as FPY1, FPVA, FP04M are taking very long time to complete. for example, before upgrade the jobs sceduled for FPVA transaction take around 5k-6k seconds. Whereas after upgrade the jobs for FPVA with the same variant takes around 9k-10k seconds. I am unable to figure out the cause for exponential increase in the duration of several mass-jobs (after the upgrade). Are there any SAP notes or do we need to do any customizing setting to solve this problem? Does anyone face this kind of problem?
    Thanks in advance
    Taj

    Hi,
This is normal after upgrade to 6.0, I have faced the same in all upgrades I've done and some others that I have involved also. If you did not requests and going live upgrade check I strongly recomend to schedule an Early Watch Check to minimize the impact. Times won´t be the same but can be very close if the system is tuned well. We have tuned systems that now run with good performance after this services.

I know the hosts should be configured like this .
    ip hostname.domain host
however I don't have a domain name . is it neccessary?
    Thanks for your kind help.

I have modified my /etc/hosts file and the problem is solved.

  • OEM Grid Control 10g Deployment

    Hi,
We are planning to deploy OEM Grid Control 10g (with Diagnostics and Performance Management packs) for management and monitoring of following targets:
    Oracle Databases (9.2.x, 10.x) - 12
    Oracle Application Servers 10g - 6
OEM documentation states that for smaller deployments (targets < 100); following h/w specs would be sufficient:
    CPU: 1 (3GHz)
Memory: 4 GB (2GB for OMS, 2GB for OMR)
Disk Storage: 12 GB (2GB for OMS, 10GB for OMR)
    I want to know:
    i) Will that amount of disk storage will be sufficient?
ii) What would be the growth rate of OMR (Oracle Management Repository)?
iii) What other factors should be considered?
    All suggestions are welcome.
    Regards,
    Preet

    Hi Preet,
We had a 200+ (now 700+) target install in a major Telco and at that time
the repository database size was just 25 GB. So 10 GB for the database
itself should be ok. However sounds like you are crunched for space.
Bear in mind you need space for the installation of the EM10g OMS home,
the Agent Home and the Database home. So I dont think 12 GB is enough
for you. Try it out in test.
    Regards,
    Porus.

  • Is grid control 12c certified from Oracle?

From oracle reading, Grid Control 11g will be upgraded to Cloud Control 12c. But is Cloud Control 12c Oracle certified?
On metalink, certification tab, I can find Grid control 11g certification, but cannot find 12c certification, there are misc messages on that Enterprise Manager group.
Can someone shed some lights? I will really appreciate it.
    Thanks
    S.

For 12c forget Grid Control and use the term Cloud Control. How do you know Enterprise Manager Base Platform - OMS is Cloud Control? Good question... it just is.
If you enter Enterprise Manager Base Platform - OMS, Release:12.1.0.2.0, Linux x86-64 Oracle Linux
And follow the link:Certification Details for Notes and Support information you will see "Enterprise Manager Base Platform - OMS 12.1.0.2.0 is certified on Linux x86-64 Oracle Linux 6"

Does Oracle EM GridControl support Tripwire?
Do we need a seperate licence from oracle and how to configure Grid control to support Tripwire?
Any refrence link is much appreciated..

this is what i have now.
i have a system with grid control and database server
    as version 10.1.0
now i am installing in a new system oracle database
server version 10.2.0. and i want to link this 10.2.0
with the existing grid control. will this work?Yes. Just discover your new 10..2.0 database using the 10.1.0 Grid Control.
    >
will it be a good idea to upgrade the database server
and the grid control in the old system from 10.1.0
    to 10.2.0 version?
Good idea to read all the release notes and compatibility section that come with you version. It is not a good idea to guess (unless it is a small test system). On my test PC, I upgraded repository to 10.2.0.1.0 and left Grid Control as 10.1.0.3. It works fine.

    Hi,
If you want to use EM 11g Grid Control on 64-bit Linux, you should install version 11.1.0.1.0, which is available from here:
    http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/oem/grid-control/downloads/linuxx8664soft-085949.html
Note that the latest version of EM is 12c; however, if you still want to go with EM 11g, the following Support note documents the installation steps and has references to other helpful notes:
Step by Step Installation of Enterprise Manager Grid Control 11.1.0.1 (Doc ID 1059516.1)
By the way, the Concepts guide below has information about the EM 11g components including the OMS and agent:

  • Grid Control 11g Agent: The free port availability check has failed.

    AmosYEP, overhere the same problem.
Can't figure out yet what the problem exactly is.
In our case I deinstalled a working 10.2.0.4 agent ( same port same config ) and tried to install 11g Agent.
It fails with the above message. We however are on AIX, and that hasn't a 'netstat -p' option to find occupied ports easily.
Because the database is question needs to be monitored constantly I now reinstalled the 10.2.0.4 agent again and works seemlessly
    Still unsolved.....

  • Grid Control emails

    Hi there,
I need to be able to send emails from Grid Control, depending on different things that may be happening.
Right now, emails from grid control can only be sent from one email address. Then it is not possible to differenciate what is a critical alert and what is not.
What are my other options or can I choose more than 1 email address?
Thanks for your time in advance!

Thanks for your time in advance! You can't send emails from more than one address in GC, at least not that I've been able to discern. However, the subject line will contain the word "Critical" for critical events. You can set up email filters to handle critical alerts differently than Warning alerts.

  • Listener & grid control after upgrade to 11.1.0.7

going from 10.2.0.2 to 11.1.0.7 on aix 5.3
On our test server we have about 8 databases that are all currently using the 10.2 listener. I've upgraded one of our very basic test databases to 11g this morning, and for the time being just created a new listener11g that listens to different port. when I start it, the log file is being created in ORACLE_BASE/diag/tnslsnr/<server>/<lsnrname>/alert/ instead of the default ORACLE_HOME/network/logs I didn't tell it to create the listener log there, anyone else have this issue?
Also, my databases are all currently being monitored by OEM Grid Control and NOT DB Control. What steps should I take to get that running correctly again after the upgrade? Delete the target database and add it back after the upgrade? Sorry ahead of time if there is a meta-link doc for this, I've searched briefly and came up empty handed.
    Thanks,
    Ben Alvey

well, from what I read about the ADR architecture it wasn't clear that the listener log would move. the metalink documents for the listener log still state that the default log directory is ORACLE_HOME/network/log as well.
And seeing how I supplied a different value for diagnostic_dest during the upgrade of said database it didn't make much sense to me how it came to the decision to stick it where it did. I'd say it is using the value from $ORACLE_BASE during the install.
It would be helpful if their docs didn't contradict themselves constantly.

  • Upgrading Management Agents after upgrading the Grid Control to 10.2..0.5

    Hello:
I am pretty new to implementing Grid control. I have been assigned the task of upgrading the Grid control to 10.2.0.5. I successfully upgraded the GC to 10.2.0.5. Now the next task is to upgrade the Agents running on other Database nodes. I have 6 databases running on Solaris 9.0 , few of them running on RHEL 5.0 x86, a few of them on RHEL 5.0 86*64. I am looking to upgrade these agents in one shot. Is there any way I can accomplish this from Grid control. If it is the case, then do I have to download and upload the patchsets for 10.2.0.5 for various platforms into the Grid Control.
I would be very happy if you could give me valid pointers which would help me to understand and move further.
    Regards,
    Bala

Yes you can upgrade the agent at one shot.Refer the following OBE

One way to find out the EM version that you are running is go to the Grid Home Page, which is the page that you get when you onto Enterprise Manager Grid Control, and click the About Oracle Enterprise Manager link at the bottom the page.
