Grid Control (OEM) - ASH Path

Hi,
I'm using Oracle 11g, from Grid Control (OEM), I would like to generate ASH reports, want to see how the performance (top activity) was 4 or 8 hours ago. Can I see this information in any other link other than ASH?
Please give me the navigation link for ASH, for example to view "IO Performance Graph", I use the below path.
Targets -> servername -> databases tab - > performance -> top activity
Thank you.

Hi,
I'm able to view this from Historical details, is that correc?
any other options available in OEM to do the same, thank you.

    Hi,
I am trying to locate the 32 bit version of Solaris 10 x86 agent for Grid Control OEM 11g (11.1.0.1.0).
There is only a X86 64 bit version listed at the download site.
My isainfo shows that solaris install is 32 bit.
Does anybody know if a 32 bit version of the agent for Grid Control 11g is available.

    No ..Its not available yet.

  • Great leap backwards in Grid Control functionality.

Unfortunately I find myself using a newer version of Grid Control / OEM that REQUIRES use of the Flash plugin. You don't have a choice. So I use Flash reluctantly, the graphs appear, functionality appears just fine until I right click on the legend of a performance graph to try to drill down using "open in new tab" and instead I get the previously-mentioned little menu about "print/whatever/about Flash player".
What an annoying leap backwards in functionality. You can't leave the existing window open and open a new tab or window, instead you're allowed to replace the current screen with the drilldown screen. And then after drilldown, at the top of the new screen where hopefully there would be an HTML link that would allow me to at least try to open the previous window ( Top Activity ), there is no such link.
What a foolish choice to require the use of Flash. What an annoying downgrade of functionality. Now I can smoothly drag a gray box back and forth on the screen to highlight the time slice I'm interested in, but I can't do the things I really would like to do like drilldown while retaining the original window, save a single graph to a graphics file to attach to a mail message, etc.
I used to be able to save performance graphs and include them as attachments in email. Now instead with Flash I can "print" them to a file - unfortunately a) it's gray scale not color and b) it only shows the left half of the graph and c) it saves all of the graphs on the page when usually I'm only interested in one graph.
Guess I got spoiled by not having to use flash. I wonder how long we'll have to wait for Flash to include startling new right-click functionality like being able to print a single graph or have links on the plugins behave like actual URLs - instead of giving us a Print/Settings/About Flash 9 menu . Settings menu actually includes the remarkable privacy settings menu with which you can allow the remote computer to access your camera and microphone, or the Local Storage menu where you get to specify how much information the grid control server can store on your computer. I have been waiting for those functions with bated breath, after all who needs to open another window with useful data when it's possible to provide someone on a remote computer to access your computer's accessories.

I have modified my /etc/hosts file and the problem is solved.
and I don't think the localhost.domain line should be commented.
if so, the listener can't start successfully.
    anyway. thanks for you reply.

  • New agent not show in grid control

I had 10.2.0.1 agent register in grid control 10.2.0.4.
I delete agent from grid control OEM target GUI interface. delete agent home directory from target machine,
then I install a 10.2.0.4 agent on target machine, but this agent did not show up in the grid control OEM . why?
    Thanks.

  • Database limits for Grid control repository?

Document "Oracle® Database Licensing Information / 10g Release 2 (10.2)" [Part Number B14199-10] discusses the restricted use license of database for grid control repository and rman repository use.
nfrastructure Repository Databases A separate Oracle Database can be installed and used as a Recovery Manager (RMAN) repository without additional license requirements, provided that all the Oracle databases managed in this repository are correctly licensed. This repository database may also be used for the Oracle Enterprise Grid Control repository. It may not be used or deployed for other uses.
A separate Oracle Database can be installed and used as a Oracle Enterprise Manager Grid Control (OEM Grid Control) repository without additional license requirements, provided that all the targets (databases, applications, and so forth) managed in this repository are correctly licensed. This database may also be used for the RMAN repository. It may not be used or deployed for other uses.
There is no discussion of licensing requirements for options of the database (RAC, partitioning, etc) when the database stays within these repository use restrictions. Therefore it is unclear whether the Grid Control can be configured to provide appropriate monitoring without additional licenses.

This is the reply I received from release
    management:
If they have deployed an EE edition of the database
as an OEM repository, and then want to protect that
with RAC or Data Guard, or make more Secure with ASO
or Database Vault, or indeed get any of the
additional benefits any of the options provide, then
they will need to license the option.
Let me know if that is still not clear, and I'll go
    back again.Thanks.
There is a minor inconsistency in their response ... they say "if deployed on EE". However, as far as I know OEM repository required VPD, which is available only on Enterprise Edition (see http://download-east.oracle.com/docs/cd/B16240_01/doc/em.102/e10953/pre-installation_req.htm#CHDGIEAD)
However, it is quite clear that 'they' are telling us that the RAC option is not inherent in the "Special Use Licensing" as described http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/license.102/b14199/editions.htm#CJAHFHBJ .
The implication (not necessarily a topic for this forum) is that the OEM is not guaranteed to be able to provide basic monitoring and reporting functionality without additional license fees to make OEM more highly available than the targets being monitored.
It would be nice to have the information about which Oracle products (database and app server) have included licenses with a basic Grid Control install and which require additional licenses as part of Chapter 1 of http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/license.102/b40010/toc.htm (That document goes into excruciating detail about the extra packs, but ignores the basics.)
For that matter, since OEM Grid Control can not be purchased, it would be nice to have a list of products that provide license to install Grid Control, again in Chapter 1 of the Grid Control Licensing document listed above.
I appreciate your time in having dug into this.

  • EM Grid Control - Licensing

    Hello,
I've read the licensing and understand that the grid control/repository is free. What I did not find is how one can use this.
In example, if I have several clients who have production database. Can I setup a grid in my company and just setup the agents to my clients database servers and have them feed my grid control? As in the scenario is there a difference between a 1 man company(consultant) and a service company with many dba?
Or is the licensing orientated around the concept of 1 company, many internal database,1 internal grid control?
    Thanks
    /Jan

I believe the use of Grid Control itself is free, but you have to buy the extra packs if you use them (e.g. change management, configuration management and tuning packs).
    As for the repository:
A separate Oracle Database can be installed and used as a Oracle Enterprise Manager Grid Control (OEM Grid Control) repository without additional license requirements, provided that all the targets (databases, applications, and so forth) managed in this repository are correctly licensed. This database may also be used for the RMAN repository. It may not be used or deployed for other uses.
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E11882_01/license.112/e10594/editions.htm#BABDJGGI
In your case, the orientation is on the company for which the Grid control is monitoring the databases for (in your case per customer).
When you choose the setup you describe, you end up paying for your own Oracle Database Enterprise Edition license for using OEM (as this is your 'property').
You might also consider good firewalling in this, as i don't think customers like it when they can see each others servers / network... ;)

  • Install of OEM 10g Grid controll on windows break my listener

    Hi!
I install OEM 10g Grid controll to Windows 2000 server, successfully (a new database to the repository also was created by the installer).
When I restart our server the service of the Listener did not started (it was set to automatic) and I did not able to start it.
First I see the "Listener.log" and the trace file.
The problem was that the listener intended to load adapter protokoll and refer to the "orantcp9.dll"!
Because before the install I create a 10.1.0.2 database the path of the file point to the "Db_1\bin" and here is "orantcp10.dll" exists.
The "orantcp9.dll" is exists in "em_1\bin".
What and how can I fix?
An additional question : during my secont installation I select to create the repository into an existing database, but the installer refuse it because my DB version was 10.1.0.2 and not 10.1.0.3.
How can I create DB with 10.1.0.3 version on Windows?
    I am in a deadlock :-)
    Regards,
    Imre

    Try MetaLink Doc Id 284680.1
The issue was that the EM Grid Control created an ORACLE_HOME environment variable. All you have to do is delete the variable, move the Database Oracle Home entries in the path to the front, and reboot the server.

  • OEM Grid Control taking a long time to load tablespace information

We use OEM Grid control to monitor many dev/tst/prd databases. OEM is taking a long time to load the tablespace page information on one of our RAC databases (only one all other dbs ok). I have tried going to 1 instance in the environment and it still takes a long time to load the information about all tablespaces in this database. OEM Path is
Cluster: crs > Cluster Database: sid > Database Instance: sid_instance1 > Tablespaces
This is a development environment and it is not a very busy database at this time. Anyone else encounter an issue like this with OEM?
Thanks in advance for any information

    user12192488 wrote:
Purge your recyclebin. I had the same problem on one of our databases and realised that the recyclebin was very large. OEM uses the space from the recyclebin as well in order to load tablespace and datafile information.
    SQL> purge dba_recycebin;
    Worked for me.
    Regards,Thanks,
    It worked perfectly !
It used to take 4 minutes to view my tablespaces in OEM !!! Now I have sub second response time !
Still find it strange that the size of the recyclebin would have such an effect when viewing tablespace info in OEM. By the way it also sped up the viewing of datafiles in OEM.

  • How to install OEM Grid Control R2 on RHEL AS4 (AMD64/EM64T)

    Hi all,
I was able to install the Oracle Application Server (Infrastructure and BI and Forms) successfully on the another machine with the same specs. The application I installed on the 64-bit machine is a 32-bit Oracle Application Server.
Now, I tried to install the OEM Grid Control R2 (another 32-bit Oracle Software) on an identical 64-bit machine but had no luck. Ran linux32 bash before trying the install.
I always get the error "error in invoking target 'dm_on ioracle' of makefile 'OH/db10g/rdbms/lib/ins_rdbms.mk".
Please help me/guide me in this install if it is at all possible.

Did you look up trying to do this on metalink before proceeding?

Are you doing the Grid Control installation into a new Oracle Home? I would try a fresh installation...Typically, the installation itself is fairly straightforward..

  • OEM Grid Control and PSOVM

    Hi,
Oracle provides templates for OEM Grid Control (x86 32bits), it would be really great to have it more integrated within PSOVM.
How could it be integrated within PSOVM ?
    1. On the PSOVM database server, have a database agent installed
    2. On the PSOVM App/Batch/PIA server, have a Peoplesoft agent installed
Whether the first is over used almost everywhere, the latter is not used by many customers, and really that's a pity and would be great to have it in first place in demo purpose.
Is that doable to have it installed by default ?
If done, we'll just have to install the Peoplesoft plugin in OEM Grid Control...
    Nicolas.

Assuing this a regular backup . by any chance had the box credential changed?

  • OEM GRID CONTROL REMOTE INSTALLATION

    Hello Good People,
I am trying to install OEM GRID CONTROL. I have a two RAC node (AIX 5L). I don't have acces to the server so my only option is remote installation.
I was able to ftp the file into a directory on the server but it will not unzip, (error: couldn't find 10g.zp or 10g.ZIP). I uploaded the file as binary.
Okay, I will like to install from my laptop, (xp) using the DVD that I have. I went through the documentation steps below:
    1. Make sure that the remote access software is installed and running on the remote and local computers.
    2. On the local computer, share the DVD drive.
    3. On the remote computer, map a drive letter to the shared DVD drive. You would use the remote access software to do this on the remote computer.
Through the remote access software, run Oracle Universal Installer on the remote computer. You access Oracle Universal Installer from the shared DVD drive.
I am confuse with step 2 downward. How can I map a drive in UNIX or why should I? I am connected to the sever by Telnet.
Any direction or suggestion will be appreciated. Please note that all I want is to remotely install GRID CONTROL on my server from the DVD that I have.
    Thanks for your help.......

Based on further researched I discovered that the problem is due to the fact that I don't have an X-Window client install on my local machine. I just install a free trial version (30days). OUI finally started and went through the various checks. Although, the check passed I couldn't continue. It is saying missing some files. I will post the erros messages from the log in a while.
    Thanks

  • Install of OEM Grid Control on  10g RAC

    Hi,
I try to install OEM Grid Control 10.1.0.3 on a 10G 10.1.0.2 database with ASM and RAC installed, on windows.
At the step of choosing the product to install, i would like to choose 'OEM GC using an existing database' or 'Additional management service 10.1.0.3', but it fails.
The reason is 'you cannot install OEM on a hardware cluster'.
I have no idea how to resolve that, do i have to change my RAC installation ?
    thank you for your answer,
    Isabelle

To install on RAC, you install using an existing database and then specify the sid/hostname for ONE instance in the RAC.
Once the management repository has been sucessfully installed and the mid-tier is up, you can edit emoms.properties to modify the JDBC url the application uses to connect to the database to be RAC aware.
The are a number of pre-installation requisites for an existing database to be used as a destination for a repository installation, there are both documents on metalink on the subject and the basic installation guide references pre-requisites for existing databases.
