Grid dictionary baselines:  MGMT_CM_BASELINE_OBJECTS.DEFINITION

From the Oracle Enterprise Manager Concepts release 10.2.0.3 documentation:
"Baselines are stored internally in the Enterprise Manager repository, and are in a form that other Change Management applications can use."
I found the table in the repository (MGMT_CM_BASELINE_OBJECTS), but the really useful information seems to be stored in the BLOB column DEFINITION, and I can't find any information on the structure of the data. Is it proprietary, or is it published somewhere?

There are so many ways to view BLOB data if you really want to see it including using GUi tools. Read related Oracle documentions for help.

  • Automatic delete of dictionary baseline versions

    Hi,
    I'm using Grid Control 10.2.0.2.
I'd like to set up nightly dictionary baselines so that I can quickly see what has changed if we experience a problem. However, I don't see any way of automatically purging data so that we avoid ending up with huge numbers of baseline versions.
I guess what I want is a rolling window of baselines - so that I've just got a 1 week history.
Has anyone else faced this issue? Any ideas on how to solve this? Does anyone know if this is in 10.2.0.3?
Should I start filling out the enhancement request in Metalink?
    Thanks,
    Chris

They have not automated the process of purging baselines for a reason. The reason, they presumed that one wouldn't have daily baselines and would have periodic baselines (taken at different milestones- meaning when something changes) to compare.
Looks in your case you have a need for that. You may have to set up a job via dbms_scheduler or cron to delete the baselines using oracle provided PL/SQL packages.(may be dbms_workload_repository)
    Thanks
    Chandra

  • Is there any limit for Number of fields to be shown from grid dictionary in service?

I am getting an error in service designer -> Dictionaries if i select more than 20 fields in grid dictionary. PSC is 10.0

This is documented in the Service Designer guide.
    Show in Grid
Fields set to “Show in Grid” and “Use” in a dictionary will display as columns in the grid on a service form when the dictionary is set to “Display as Grid”. “Show in Grid” and Multivalue are mutually exclusive, as a grid does not have the capability for a multivalue cell. Grids cannot have more than 20 columns by default, which is defined by “dictionary.attributes.maximum.showingrid.count” property in the newscale.properties file.
Note Fields in External dictionaries cannot be used in grids and hence do not have the “Show in Grid” column. Also, fields in Reserved dictionaries (Customer_Information and Initiator_Information) cannot be used in grids because those dictionaries inherently represent only one set of data. See Designing Grid Dictionaries for Fields with Multiple Data Instance for more information on grids.

  • Using Dictionary to check definitions of words in Preview

Hi! I tried searching, but could not find anything pertaining to this issue:
I just switched from Windows four months ago, thus I'm sorry if this sounds stupid. Can the Dictionary application be launched to look up definitions of words while viewing PDFs in the Preview application, just as with TextEdit and Safari? I think, but cannot be sure, that I used to be able to do so.
Currently, if I need to look up words while in Safari or Mail (or Pages), I select the word, hold down the Control key as I click my mouse, and choose "Look Up in Dictionary" from the shortcut menu.
However, when I perform the same actions while reading PDFs in Preview, the shortcut menu that appears only contains "Actual Size", "Zoom In", "Zoom Out", and other options pertaining to viewing. "Look Up in Dictionary" is not in the shortcut menu, neither is "Copy" or "Search in Spotlight".
Thinking that I might have perhaps done something to cause this, I've tried thrashing the Preview plist, and even the Dictionary one. All to no avail, I still cannot look up definitions of words while reading PDFs in Preview. Is there a problem with my Preview? If so, how can I rectify it?
By the way, is Preview a Cocoa application?
Appreciate your input. Thank you in advance.
iBook G4   Mac OS X (10.4.5)   Recently switched from Windows four months ago

You can select/highlight any word ("tool mode >> text
tool") but the option to lookup in dicitionary is not
    available.
Yes. (...is Preview a Cocoa application?)
Thank you, Macjack. You've been a great help.
How about "Copy"? Is it available from the shortcut menu that appears when you highlight/select the word, and press "Ctrl" and click the mouse in Preview?
Yup, I tried it in Acrobat Professional and it does lead me to dictionary.com. I'd rather use Preview for reading PDFs as it loads much faster than Acrobat Professional (or any of the Adobe applications in CS2, for that matter) on my ibook.
You can however run both programs simultaneously
and type in the word you want to check on manually.
Thank you, Sig. That's indeed helpful.

  • Dictionary missing definition

Is it just me, or does the dictionary app's definition of "lead" not include the metal of that name? (It defines other elements, such as gold and uranium).

You're right - I hadn't scrolled all the way down past the phrases, etymology etc.
I wasn't accounting for the fact that it gives two sets of definitions depending on the pronunciation.

  • Not able to generate DDL on new install of OEM Grid Control 10.2.0.5

I upgraded grid control to 10.2.0.5 and can not get it to generate DDL.
I click generate ddl and get the basic message 'Generate DDL has been submitted successfully. It could take a while to complete if the baseline version contains a large number of objects.'
And it says that it is being generated in the DDL column but if you either let it sit there or click the refresh button, it will say Not Generated.
Has anyone come across this and found a solution?
    This is on windows.

Try this on your versionof 10.2.0.5:
On the Dictionary Baseline Objects page,
    1. Select all the objects in Non-Schema Object Types
    2. Select objects types and the schemas to include
    3. Select all the objects in Object Types
    4. Add your schemas
    This will succesfullly run.
Now click on the Generated DDL and it will initially say 'Being Generated' in the DDL column.
Either let it sit there or click the Refresh button and the status in the DDL column is now 'Not Generated'.

  • Differrences between structure and table in data dictionary in ABAP?

What is the differrences between structure and table in data dictionary in ABAP?
    are they same?

    Tables :
    1. The place where the data is stored so that you can retrieve at any time.
    2. There can be more than one record stored
    Structures :
    1. The data / info stays only during the runtime of the application and will not get stored at all during the run time ....
    2. Only one record can be stored at the runtime .....
A structure forms the skeleton of the table.
A structure comprises components i.e., fields. Types are defined for the components A component can refer to an elementary type (via a data element or by directly specifying the data type and length in the structure definition), another structure or a table type. A structure can therefore be nested to any depth
Tables can be defined independently of the database in the ABAP Dictionary. The fields of the table are defined with their (database-independent) data types and lengths.
When the table is activated, a physical table definition is created in the database for the table definition stored in the ABAP Dictionary. The table definition is translated from the ABAP Dictionary to a definition of the particular database.

  • Grid cell displaying 1 when value is 0

Why is it that grid column cells sometimes display 1 when the value in the cell is actually 0? Here is the scenario - I have a column in my grid with the following definition:
    AttributeInfo SalesDollarsMasterCol = new AttributeInfo(java.sql.Types.NUMERIC);
The column is set up the following way:
    SalesDollarsMasterCol.setName("SalesDollars");
    SalesDollarsMasterCol.setColumnWidth(50);
    SalesDollarsMasterCol.setUpdateable(false);
    SalesDollarsMasterCol.setFormatterInfo(new FormatterInfo(DefaultFormatManager.NUMERIC_VALUE,"###,###,##0"));
    SalesDollarsMasterCol.setLabel("Sales $");
    SalesDollarsMasterCol.setDisplayed(true);
    SalesDollarsMasterCol.setSortingEnabled(true);
When I display my grid, and there is a 0 value in SalesDollars, a 1 sometimes appears. To double check that I have a 0 value in SalesDollars, I get the actual Number value from the cell and print it out in the message window using getDoubleValue(), and the value is 0.0.
What's even stranger is that I can click in the cell, then click in another cell in the same row and the number changes to 0. But, when I navigate out of the row, the number changes back to 1.
Is this a bug in JDeveloper, or is it something I'm doing? I'm using JDeveloper 3.2.2 Build 915 on Windows 2000 and Oracle 8.1.7.

I think u can use SRW.SET_FIELD_NUM in the format trigger to set the value conditionally.

  • Starter Templates for fluid grid layouts.

Hello, I am watching the video (Learn Dw CC video by David Powers.)  In the video and in the version of Dw CC he is using there are 6 templates for a fluid grid layout but I see none in my version of Dreamweaver CC and I have the latest version? Maybe the ones I see in David Powers version are ones that he has purchased separately? Anyone know?
For anyone reading this that is interested in Fluid Grid Layouts I would definitely consider purchasing the video as he does a first class job of teaching you.
    Thanks, Imelda.

To open a starter page, go to File > New > Blank page > HTML > select a layout from 3rd panel . Hit Create.  AFAIK, there are no pre-built templates for FluidGrid Layouts.  You simply use the FGLayouts tool to build your own custom layout for mobile, tablet and desktop devices.

  • Chinese English dictionary.app

    Hi guys,
Is there a way for me to have the builtin Chinese dictionary display definitions in English in addition to Chinese? It doesn't really make sense from language leaning perspective that an unfamiliar word is defined using the same language with other unfamiliar words, I wish apple allows us to choose the builtin dictionaries. Is there a way to edit the dictionary.app so that the Chinese dictionary carries English definitions as well?

You can ask Apple to add new features via
    http://www.apple.com/feedback
    For adding new dictionaries, see

  • What is data dictionary?

    what is data dictionary?
    thank u.

The ABAP Dictionary centrally describes and manages all the data definitions used in the
system. The ABAP Dictionary is completely integrated in the ABAP Development Workbench. All
the other components of the Workbench can actively access the definitions stored in the ABAP
    Dictionary.
The ABAP Dictionary supports the definition of user-defined types (data elements, structures and
table types). You can also define the structure of database objects (tables, indexes and views) in
the ABAP Dictionary. These objects can then be automatically created in the database with this
definition. The ABAP Dictionary also provides tools for editing screen fields, for example for
assigning a field an input help (F4 help).

    ABAP Dictionary
    Purpose
Data definitions (metadata) are created and managed in the ABAP Dictionary. The ABAP
Dictionary permits a central description of all the data used in the system without redundancies.
New or modified information is automatically provided for all the system components. This
ensures data integrity, data consistency and data security.
You can create the corresponding objects (tables or views) in the underlying relational database
using these data definitions. The ABAP Dictionary therefore describes the logical structure of the
objects used in application development and shows how they are mapped to the underlying
relational database in tables or views.
The ABAP Dictionary also provides standard functions for editing fields on the screen, for
example for assigning a screen field an input help.
What Information is Stored in the ABAP Dictionary?
The most important object types in the ABAP Dictionary are tables, views, types, domains,
    search helps and lock objects.
Tables are defined in the ABAP Dictionary independently of the database. A table
having the same structure is then created from this table definition in the underlying database.
Views are logical views on more than one table. The structure of the view is defined in
the ABAP Dictionary. A view on the database can then be created from this structure.
Types are used in ABAP program. The structure of a type can be defined globally in
ABAP programs. Changes to a type automatically take effect in all the programs using the type.
Lock objects are used to synchronize access to the same data by more than one
user. Function modules that can be used in application programs are generated from the
definition of a lock object in the ABAP Dictionary.
Different fields having the same technical type can be combined in domains . A
domain defines the value range of all table fields and structure components that refer to this
    domain.
The ABAP Dictionary also contains the information displayed with the F1 and F4 help for a field
in an input template. The documentation about the field is created for a data element
that describes the meaning of the contents of a table field. The list of possible input values that
appears for the input help is created by a foreign key or a search help .
Integration in the ABAP Development Workbench
The ABAP Dictionary is completely integrated in the ABAP Development Workbench. The R/3
System works interpretatively, permitting the ABAP Dictionary to be actively integrated in the
development environment. Instead of the original objects, the interpreters see only internal
    representations of these objects.
These internal representations are adjusted automatically when the system finds that changes
have been made in the ABAP Dictionary. This ensures that the screen and ABAP interpreters,
input help, database interface, and development tools always access current data.

The following ABAP program lists the airline carriers (see Flight model )
and carrier IDs contained in table SCARR.
    DATA: SCARR_TAB TYPE SCARR.
SELECT * INTO SCARR_TAB FROM SCARR.
    WRITE: / SCARR_TAB-CARRID, SCARR_TAB-CARRNAME.
    ENDSELECT.
Only structure SCARR_TAB is declared in the program. All the information about this
structure, such as the field names, data types and field lengths, are copied from table
SCARR, which is defined in the ABAP Dictionary. This information about table
SCARR is called from the ABAP Dictionary when the program is generated.
This means that the source text of the program need not be adjusted when a change
is made to table SCARR, for example when the length of a table field is changed.
The next time the program is called, the system automatically determines that the
structure of table SCARR has changed. The program is simply regenerated, thereby
retrieving up-to-date information about table SCARR from the ABAP Dictionary.

To understand the events properly, I started working on this sample program where it uses 1 ALV and splits it into 2 and uses single row drag and drop between them. Now I'm making it to work for multiple drag and drop, so that I can use it on my application. This is the code which I'm working on..

  • Name picker issue in Grid

I have a Grid dictionary in my form which contact 5 fields and one among the fields is a name picker.
When I click the icon next to the field in the form, the dialog box is getting populated and I can search the name and select the name.
When I clicked the 'Ok' button, the selected name is not populating into the field in my form.
I tried with a free form dictionary as well as template based dictionary. In the dictionary, I have selected the field type as 'Person'. In the form, though we select the field's type in 'Display Properties' as 'Person', it comes as 'Text' - which is expected since this is just the 'HTML Representation'.
I am using 9.3.2 patch 6. Do I need to enable any settings? Appreciate any help!!!

    Dear Lim,
Sorry for the delayed response. Fed up with several other important tasks. Yes, you are correct. This is related to something in "Import Person". I got the below error message in the log. In "Directory Integration", for the "Person Lookup for Service Form", I have tried configuring for "Import Person" and "Import Manager" by setting the refresh period to 0. But this didn't help me. Do I need to restart the service after setting this?
Also I have noticed that in the events, the person search is associated with the custom code - Java Class. Will this impact?
Thanks for your help in identifying the root cause.

  • Does Pool & Cluster tables has the same structure in both Dictionary and Db

------------ Exists with the same structure both in dictionary as well as in database exactly with the same data and fields
    a. Pool Table
    b. Cluster Table
    c. Transparent Table
    d. All the above
To my knowledge, I know transparent table has the same structure in both Dictionary and database.
Can anyone tel me the answer for the above question.. whether it is
    c. Transparent table
    or
    d. All the above

    Transparent Table:
A physical table definition in the database for the table definition which is stored in the ABAP Dictionary for transparent tables when the
table is activated. The table definition is translated from the ABAP Dictionary to a definition of the particular database.
A transparent table in the dictionary has one to one relationship with a table in the database.
For each transparent table in the data dictionary there is one associated table in the database. The database table has the same name, the same number of fields and fields have same names as the transparent table definition. Transparent tables are used to hold application data. Application data is master data or transaction data used by an application.
e.g. master data - table of customers
Transaction data - order placed by the customers.
    Pooled tables:
Pooled tables can be used to store control data (e.g. screen sequences, program parameters or temporary data). Several pooled tables can be
combined to form a table pool. The table pool corresponds to a physical table on the database in which all the records of the allocated pooledtables are stored.
Pooled table in R/3 has a many to one relationship with a table in the database. For one table in the database there are many tables in the R/3 data dictionary.R/3 uses pooled tables to hold large number of very small tables. You might create a table pool if yoou need to create hundreds of small tables that each hold only a few rows of data.
    Cluster tables :
Cluster tables contain continuous text, for example, documentation.Several cluster tables can be combined to form a table cluster. Severallogical lines of different tables are combined to form a physical record in this table type. This permits object-by-object storage or
object-by-object access. In order to combine tables in clusters, atleast parts of the keys must agree. Several cluster tables are stored in
one corresponding table on the database.
A cluster table is similar to pool table . It has many to one relationship with the table in the database.
They are used to hold the data from a few(approximatelly 2 to 10) very large tables. They would be used when these tables have a part of their primary keys in common and if data in these tables are all accessed simultaneously.A cluster is advantageous in the case where data is accessed from multiple tables simultaneously and those tables have at least one of their primary key fields in common.Cluster table reduce number of database reads and thereby improves performance.
