Grid Enable Existing IT Infrastructure

Hi,
I am a research student of grid technology,
I have read several statements made by many grid vendors, some of them said that one don't need to grid enable the existing application, some say that you must need to...although if new application are being developed then a better idea is to use web services standards that will ease the integration of that application in the grid environment.
Can anyone please point me in the right direction in case of oracle grid technology that if a company adopts grid in their existing infra then do they need to grid enable them in some sense or is oracle's grid tech is much brilliant then it takes everything from existing infra, giving a true cost savings.

After you install grid env / control / OMS you install agent on the target boxes. It reads all the oracle products and server info and discovers on its own. Once it discovers you have the control to add/delete/modify the targets.

Hi,
if you already developed using OO concept, it should be possible to:
create a handler for event ONF4
The interface will tell you actual field name and value where F4 is pressed. This will enable you to call your own routine (see FM F4-IF....).
Please check how the standard handles F4 - if you have standard and customer-F4 mixed you shouldtake care that the standard handling is triggered.

[CS3 - Win] Smart Guides not showing up when Snap To Grid enabled

Has anyone else encountered this bug?

Smart Guides are turned on, but hovering over items does not show the cyan hints, snapping to anchor points / paths etc does not work. This only occurs when Snap To Grid is enabled. If you then go and turn it off, the Smart Guides start working again as expected.
Is this a known bug?

Thanks for the reply Mike. Smart Guides work perfectly for me provided Snap to Grid is turned off.
I can see there being a conflict between snapping to grid and smart guides in CS3 - which takes precedence? From a UX perspective, if these two snapping modes are mutually exclusive, there should be at the very least an alert letting you know the other mode is disabled; the menu item should be greyed out. Or if it's truly an either-or situation, then the menu needs to be revised such that both snap to grid and smart guides are within the same submenu, and only one can be selected at a time, toggle with CMD+SHIFT+OPT+U.

Regarding Grid(Enabling and Disabling)

Hi all,
I am using a grid to display my internal table contents. some columns are disabled and some are enabled.
In the enabled columns, I need to disable particular field(not the entire column) depending on some conditions.
Direct Problem:
My internal table has columns: sentdate, resent date, target recipient date, actual recipient date, reminder date.
At any time, only 'sent date' or 'resent date' should be enabled.
If both are initial then 'sentdate' should be enabled and 'resentdate' is disabled.
If both are not initial then 'sentdate' should be disabled and 'resentdate' is enabled.

Exchange 2013 Mail Enable Existing Security Groups

Hello,
I can't seem to find how to mail enable an existing Security Group in Exchange 2013. Does anyone know how to do this? I have created them as Universal Security Groups in Active Directory. I see that if you create them from the Exchange
Admin Center, it will work, but I have a ton of groups with very complicated memberships that exist in AD and I would prefer not to delete them, recreate them, and adjust membership.
I looked for a cmdlet that would let me do this, but I can't seem to find one.
Does anyone know how to Mail Enable an Existing Group from Exchange 2013?

Change view angle of 3D grid with existing objects

Hello,
I am new to the perspective grid in Adobe Illustrator and would really appreciate some help. I have created a simple room interior with a 2 point perspective and a view angle of 45 degree. I would now like to display the same room with a view angle of 60 degree. Is it possible to change the view angle of the 3D with existing objects in it or do I have to re-create the room with a different view angle each time? I can change the numbers in the define perspective setting and the grid changes but the room doesn't seem to change with it.

the perspective grid is just a load of fancy guidelines. it can't affect what you draw after the fact any more than a similar grid drawn on paper could.
Wrong. The Perspective Grid is essentially an envelope distortion, and it is live. Otherwise, objects wouldn't automatically reshape as you move them on the plane to which they are attached.
Is it possible to change the view angle of the 3D with existing objects in it or do I have to re-create the room with a different view angle each time?
Even in pre-CC versions, pressing Shift while moving a perspective plane handle moves the attached objects also. Pressing Alt duplicates the objects as they move with the plane.
By the way, though, it's not "3D". Couching your question in the terms of 3D will suggest to some you're talking about 3D Effect.

NO. You fundamentally misunderstand. It's a drawing aid like any other guide, not a real 3D space. You need to draw from scratch.

CIFS enable existing clustered NSS volume

I'm rolling out CIFS shares of our existing clustered volumes. Perhaps I'm looking at this the wrong way, but I see no way to CIFS enable an existing cluster volume so as to create the Virtual CIFS server object. If I create a fresh pool & volume I can do it but I have 15TB of existing data.

I've got a nifty Word document I can send you. We're on OES2 SP3 NCS but I imagine the same applies for OES11. We do it slightly differently than the docs because we want to be able to edit the actual CIFS name that shows up, so you have to adjust the eDir objects, I believe (if you follow the actual docs, you get stuck with some of the default items and have to resort to manually editing some things if you wish to change their names).
Just send me a PM and I'll see if I can clean up any incriminating IP's, etc.

Installing OEM Control Grid in existing database

We have a server (Windows 2003 R2 SP1) with 9.2.0.7 installed (all is ok).
Install 10.2.0.1 server => OK
Creating database Orcl (10.2.0.1) => OK
Patch to 10.2.0.3 => OK
Upgrade database Orcl to 10.2.0.3 => OK
Install Control Grid 10.2.0.2 => Error in OMS configuration
When I look in the log file (HOME\oms10g\sysman\log ), i see :
java.sql.SQLException: ORA-28000: the account is locked
when he has tried to create the repository. So, I unlock sysman account and rerun the OMS configuration from OUI => same error.
I've tried that solution found in the forum...
drop user sysman cascade;
drop user MGMT_VIEW cascade;
drop role MGMT_USER;
drop public synonym SETEMVIEWUSERCONTEXT;
...and rerun OMS configuration from OUI => same error, account sysman locked.
I unlock it and rerun again => account sysman still locked.
I've no solution, can someone help me, please ?

There's a generic issue with your configuration (version 10.2.0.3 as repository), this is the message from Oracle:
Upgrade Alert:
The Oracle Database Patchset 10.2.0.3 was recently released. This alert is to inform customers that Enterprise Manager 10g currently does not support running the EM Repository in a 10.2.0.3 Oracle Database. The first release of EM that will support the EM Repository in a 10.2.0.3 database will be EM 10.2.0.3.
Do not apply the database patchset to the EM repository database at this time.

Integration of existing AD and existing OD infrastructures

We have a well established Active Directory and a well established OpenDirectory with file systems participating in each. At this time, both directories are autonomous. We need to make the existing file systems offered on the XServes in OD accessible by AD accounts with the goal of eventually removing all user accounts from OD.
The problem we've discovered is that we are unable to preserve and protect UIDs of the OD accounts using OD and the Apple Active Directory Plug-In. The result is that MaryX in AD does not have ownership of her files on the XServe because her account does not have the same UID as the MaryX account in OD.
Is there a way to create the account for MaryX in AD and establish her OD UID value there in such a way that the Apple Active Directory Plug-In on her Mac and on the XServe will allow her to access her files?
At this point, the only alternative we've found is impractical. That would require us to identify her new UID as presented by the plug-in and re-chown the entire set of file systems. That's over 30 TB of data. The same procedure would have to be performed for each existing OD account and group. We think this is an unnecessarily nasty solution and are hoping we could do something simple like extend the AD schema for POSIX compliance and get the plug-in to reference UID from there.
Suggestions? Ideas?

WLW Enable Existing Domain

Has anyone used WLW on a domain and enabled the domain for WLW manually not using
the config wizard?
I have gone through the steps (or so I think), and WorkShop thinks it's ok, and
will communicate to it, but when I try to run anything, I get a
NoClassDefFoundError: com/bea/compiler/enterprise/IEntProject
It looks like a classpath issue, but I can't find out where that class comes from.
Has anyone any suggestions.

Existing Video infrastructure

We have an exisiting in-house video studio with all the tvs connected via rg6. No outside channels can be broadcasted on these tv's! All the rooms have been re-wired with cat5e and currently have projectors and computer systems in them. What I would like to do is get rid of the TV's and use the exisiting projectors to display the video feed that is broadcasted live from in house every morning over the Cat5. I just wanted a general idea on the best way to do this and what cisco hardware will accomplish this. I will be purchasing new cisco switches as well for the closets and the main network backbone (probably 4506 for backbone and 3550's for closets). Thanks

You probably don't need any Cisco hardware to do this. There are a number of manufacturers that produce A/V "BALUNs" / adapters for baseband video and stereo audio over Cat-rated cabling.
Lucent / Avaya has a 380a adapter, Unicom has one (PN: VAA-U501-VA ) also. They range from US$35.00 - 65.00 each (need a pair per run) depending on where you get them and in what quantity.
You'd basically take the output from your source via baseband (RCA or BNC connector) plus the audio, to the adapter, then UTP to the projector, through another adapter, to the projector & audio amp.
If your source only puts out RF (i.e., channel 3), then you'd need something to convert the signal (Cheap VCRs, for example).
You can make it as stylish or cheap as you want at that point, the video quality versus converting it to MPEG and back would be comparable, with a slight edge going to the adapters (depending on your compression / CODEC).

"Oracle's purported Grid enablement in 10g is based on its Oracle Real Application Clusters (RAC) technology that is no more than a local cluster. RAC is a local cluster of computers with no geographic distribution capabilities. This marketing campaign relabeled existing features to exploit current industry trends. "
is microsoft article right? why o why not is oracle grid is a local cluster instead of grid computing oriented?

The distance limitations are not due to the RAC product itself but rather network technology limitations.. Unable to deliver data between sites at a very high speed.
I think Oracle is the only product available in the market today that can provide a close to Grid solution. Its also important to note that Grid computing in general is not ready because there are no set standards for heterogeneous systems to communicate with each other.. for example we cannot have Windows and Linux as a clustered configuration. While these limitations do affect the overall Grid strategy, there is definitely a grid within the Oracle paradigm. meaning an Oracle Grid does exist.

Publishing Sites is an out-of-the-box site template designed to publish web pages and it comes with a pre-built workflow or without (depends on which template you pick). It comes with libraries such as Pages library, Publishing Images, or Site Images.
It is configured to fully customized the master pages (or add new ones), and page layouts.
There is no such thing as publishing enabled document library. A document library is not designed to publish web pages. You can have Site Pages library in a team site, but if you are looking to fully brand a site collection, then this is not your answer.
You will need to use a Publishing Site to fully brand your Internet or Intranet site.
You can enable the publishing infrastructure on any site that is NOT a publishing site, but this does not turn your provisioned site to a publishing site. It simply turns on publishing features, such as navigation management, master pages/page layouts management,
publishing workflows, etc....
