$GRID_HOME/Opatch/ocm/bin/emocmrsp missing

I don't see $GRID_HOME/Opatch/ocm/bin/emocmrsp in my grid_home.I have to apply a patch on it.
All i can see on my $GRID_HOME/Opatch/ocm/......nothing /
OCM a emCCR runs on $ORACLE_HOME/ccr/bin/emCCR
When we apply PSU interim patch 11.2.0.3.0 to 11.2.0.3.5.Can i apply patch without creating ocm response file?
How do i create $GRID_HOME/Opatch/ocm....bin/emocmrsp(how to create bin and emocmrsp)???
Help!

The recent OPatch (Patch p6880880) brings the $GRID_HOME/Opatch/ocm/bin/emocmrsp.
You have to use the most recent OPatch anyway, it's aprerequisite for every PSU and patch to apply.

Martin

  • Color - Prebuilt Fx in Fx Bin are MISSING

    Hi,
The Pre-built Fx in the Fx Bin in the Effects Room of Color are missing.
They were there originally then at some stage disappeared. I tried reinstalling FCS 2 which was VERY PAINFUL but they're still missing.
Is there a way to get them back? Maybe someone at Apple can mail them to me?
    Should I visit an iStore?
    Thanks

Maybe your path is simply messed up.
Do a search for anything ending in .cfx .
Check your path... they should be in /Users/yourname/Library/Application Support/Color/Effects/

  • OPatch - Patches Installations

    Dear all.
I've got a Oracle 10g R 2.0.1 under Oracle Enterprise Linux 5 and now I'm trying to apply a patch. I accessed the Metalink Website and found p6880880_102000_LINUX.zip that I must install. I downloaded it and used unzip at ORACLE_HOME and I could see that the folder OPatch was created.

Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: oracle/opatch/OPatch
Could anybody help me with that. I tried some google searches but I couldnt sort it out anyway. My variables are set like I show below:

    export PATH=$ORACLE_HOME/bin:$PATH
    export ORACLE_SID=orcl
    Thanks a lot

    Hello Schavali.
Yeah, I did. I could see it's necessary to have JDK installed on the same ORACLE_HOME. Dou you know how I can install it? I also went to ORACLE_HOME/OPatch/docs and saw that there's a FAQ file, where I read and, what it's written below didnt help me much. At least i couldnt understand very well.
When I apply a patch I get an error that reads "Exception in thread "main"
    java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: <Class Name>". What do I do?
This may be due to OPatch not able to find the particular class
listed in the error, which is supposed to be located inside
$ORACLE_HOME/OPatch/jlib/opatch.jar file. Check if you have the
particular class file there. To check this, execute the following
command; the missing class file will be printed out:
    cd $ORACLE_HOME/OPatch/jlib
    jar tf opatch.jar <Class File Name>.class
It is recommended that you contact Oracle support when you encounter
    this error.
Another reason might be having done a file transfer of OPatch in a
    non-binary mode.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks a lot.

  • I have a problem when I apply patch 12539000

    Hi all,
I need to upgrade my GI and RDBMS from 11.2.0.2 to 11.2.0.3 on Linux RedHat
I am following this DOC: Oracle® Grid Infrastructure Installation Guide (E22489-04) - (F - How to Upgrade to Oracle Grid Infrastructure 11g Release 2).
When I run Cluster Verification Utility (CVU), I got this fail:

    Check failed on nodes:
    brlouls011646,brlouls011645
Then I am trying to install this patch, I download patch 12539000, Unzip patch 12539000 in a stage area, and then I got this error

  • Rollback 11.2.0.3.8 GI & DB patch then watch-out

Today I  tried to patched my RAC One Node (2 node) cluster to 11.2.0.3.8. I was on 11.2.0.3.6 prior to this.
I started by only patching Grid Infrastructure & DB home on node 2.  The GI patch was successful but the DB patch had 1 failure so I decided to rollback the DB patch - this also rolled back my GI patch.
Everything was back to 11.2.0.3.6 and when I tried to restart my acfs resource on node 2 it failed to start with an ACFS/ADVM kernel not supported error. The acfs resource was working on node 1 which has exactly the same kernel version!!!!
After loads of searching I found out that although Oracle had rolled back the patch, it didn't update or use the correct osds_acfslib.pm (located in $GRID_HOME/lib). This file that Oracle either replaced with a vanilla copy of modified didn't have a section in it for
    my kernel version - 2.6.32-400
I therefore copied the fresh copy of this file from node 1 to node 2 and then ran
    acfsload start -s
    lsmod | grep oracle
    --- this then showed
    oracleacfs
    oracleadvm
    oracleoks
    crsctl start res <acfs resource name> -n <node name>
ACFS started fine after this! Hope it helps someone...
    David

    Let me suggest something:
Use a response file for applying a PSU on any Grid construction. It's sounds litte bit like voodoo, but given you did the usual preparation and checking, it's usually just three steps:
    * Apply p6880880 for the most recent OPatch utility (you have to do this anyway as a prereq of the PSU)
    * Create the response file (execute $ORACLE_HOME/OPatch/ocm/bin/emocmrsp - this binary comes with recent p6880880's) and move it to any convenient directory for the next step
    * Do "opatch auto ./install/11203psu5 -ocmrf ./ocm.rsp"
I did it this way seven times now, and can't see a reason not to make it my common for the future.
    Regards
    Martin Klier

  • Errors on applying PSU patches for GI (Grid Infrastructure) 11.2.0.3

    Need help!
This is all in the version of 11.2.0.3.   We created a single node GI with ASM by the user grid.   Grid home is /grid/product/11.2/grid/   And oracle home created by user oracle at /oracle/product/11g.    I have downloaded the GI PSU patch 16742216 for GI and Oracle DB PSU patch 16619892.   I just want to apply the patch to GI home, then Oracle home with different PSU.   Here is what I did after unzip the patch for GI:
    1.   Stopped ASM instance and stopped listener (these are owned by grid)
    2.  Created a ocm response file at grid home by grid user:   $ORACLE_HOME/OPatch/ocm/bin/emocmrsp   -no_banner
    3.  Use the root to run grid profile to setup grid GI environment
    4.  Use the root to run as (as described in Oracle instruction):  opatch auto /home/grid/patches  -ocmrf /grid/product/11.2/grid/OPatch/ocm/bin/ocm.rsp
But got this error.   For some reason it looks for Oracle home, not grid home, although I do not have any oracle home environment setup in root user:

  • Jan-2013 PSU on 11.2.0.3 over GI & RDBMS Homes (StandAlone Server),

    Hello Experts,
Please excuse me if it fetches your precious time to read such a long request.
I need your help in applying patch over 11.2.0.3 Grid and 11.2.0.3 on single node stand alone databases.
I downloaded the two patches as given below and unzipped it under the directory /export/psu_grid and /export/PSU_Patch respectively. When I unzipped the grid patch I was little disturbed to see two numbers highlighted(So checked oracle documents and found it is a bundle for both rdbms and GI homes).
But I want to apply grid and rdbms homes seperatly, because I get confused when i read its readme.html file, because it talks about RAC only.
If I apply to GI home seperatly, Should I select 15876003 instead of 14727310 , Please check the below document which I have framed and guide me accordingly.
    asm@dat-stb-ora05 /export/psu_grid > ls
    14727310 bundle.xml README.html
    15876003 p14727347_112030_AIX64-5L.zip README.txt
    oracle@dat-stb-ora05 /export/PSU_Patch > ls
    14727310 p14727310_112030_AIX64-5L.zip
Got from Oracle docs: For 11.2.0.3.5
BUG 14727347 - GRID INFRASTRUCTURE PATCH SET UPDATE 11.2.0.3.5 contains
BUG 15876003 - GRID INFRASTRUCTURE PATCH SET UPDATE 11.2.0.3.5 (GI COMPONENTS)
BUG 14727310 - DATABASE PATCH SET UPDATE 11.2.0.3.5
In this example, the <GI_PSU_number> is 14727347; the <GI_Components_number> is 15876003; and the <DB_PSU_number> is 14727310.
Here is my document: Please rectify me if I am going wrong in any way.
    Grid home: /u01/app/asm/product/11.2.0.3/grid
    Oracle Home: /u01/app/oracle/product/11.2.0.3/db_1
Opatch version is : 11.2.0.3.0 ( SO I am good to go with Jan PSU patch i guess)
    Grid patch (14727347) > 15876003(GI component) and 14727310(DB_PSU_Number) > I guess for grid the patch# 15876003
    RDBMS Patch (14727310)
I will follow the following steps.
    1. Validate the Oracle Inventory.
    /opt/grid/11.2.0/grid/OPatch/opatch lsinventory -detail -oh /u01/app/asm/product/11.2.0.3/grid
    OPatch version : 11.2.0.3.0
    2. Shut down the databases.
    3. Run the prepatch script
    cd /export/psu_gird
    ./15876003/custom/server/15876003/custom/scripts/prepatch.sh
    4. Shutdown the ASM.
    5. Will Run the below command to stop CSS etc.
    /u01/app/asm/product/11.2.0.3/grid/crs/install/roothas.pl -unlock
(since it is not a RAC, do i still need to run rootcrs.pl -unlock, please correct me if i go wrong)
    6. Will Apply grid patch.
/u01/app/asm/product/11.2.0.3/grid/OPatch/opatch napply -oh /u01/app/asm/product/11.2.0.3/grid -id 15876003 (Please verify if this is the right patch# I'm mentioning)
    7. Will Apply psu patch on Oracle home
    /u01/app/oracle/product/11.2.0.3/db_1/OPatch/opatch napply -oh /u01/app/oracle/product/11.2.0.3/db_1 -id 14727310
    8. Run the postpatch script
    ./15876003/custom/server/15876003/custom/scripts/postpatch.sh
    9. Run the following script to enable CSS etc.
    /u01/app/asm/product/11.2.0.3/grid/roothas.pl -patch
    /u01/app/asm/product/11.2.0.3/grid/bin/crsctl check has
    /u01/app/asm/product/11.2.0.3/grid/bin/crsctl check css
    10. If CSS is not online ran the below command.
    /u01/app/asm/product/11.2.0.3/grid/bin/crsctl modify resource "ora.cssd" -attr "AUTO_START=1"
    /u01/app/asm/product/11.2.0.3/grid/bin/crsctl modify resource "ora.diskmon" -attr "AUTO_START=1"
    /u01/app/asm/product/11.2.0.3/grid/bin/crsctl stop has
    /u01/app/asm/product/11.2.0.3/grid/bin/crsctl start has
    11. Bring Up the ASM and apply as shown below and same way for Databases.
    @catbundle.sql psu apply
    12. Finally will run the below command on grid and Oracle.
    /u01/app/asm/product/11.2.0.3/grid/OPatch/opatch lsinventory
    /u01/app/oracle/product/11.2.0.3/db_1/OPatch/opatch lsinventory
If steps are different please provide the right steps.
    THanks in anticipation

    Let me suggest something:
Use a response file for applying a PSU on any Grid construction. It's sounds litte bit like voodoo, but given you did the usual preparation and checking, it's usually just three steps:
    * Apply p6880880 for the most recent OPatch utility (you have to do this anyway as a prereq of the PSU)
    * Create the response file (execute $ORACLE_HOME/OPatch/ocm/bin/emocmrsp - this binary comes with recent p6880880's) and move it to any convenient directory for the next step
    * Do "opatch auto ./install/11203psu5 -ocmrf ./ocm.rsp"
I did it this way seven times now, and can't see a reason not to make it my common for the future.

    Martin Klier

  • July PSU 11.2.0.3 patch apply failed

We installed oracle GI (Grid Infrastructure) and Oracle 11.2.0.3 on a single node Linux.    The GI home is owned by the user grid to include ASM storage configuration and Oracle home is owned by user oracle.   After we installed GI home, configured ASM, installed oracle home, and created an oracle database (no listener was created at this point yet).   I tried to run the July PSU 11.2.0.3 patch for both GI and Oracle home.    Here is the procedure based on the oracle readme instruction:
    Problem Description
This is single node Oracle EE installation of GI, ASM, and Oracle 11.2.0.3. We tried to apply the patch PSU (p16742216_112030_Linux-x86-64.zip). It is failed on GI apply. But oracle database home apply seems fine. GI home owned by user grid and Oracle DB home owned by user oracle.
Here is the procedure we did:
    1. Download the patch set 16742216 for our Linux version and unzip to a location.
    2. Download and upgrade the opatch to 11.2.0.3.4 (p6880880_112000_Linux-x86-64.zip)
    3. Shutdown the DB, ASM (there is no listener on the DB configured yet).
    4. As oracle user create the configure file: Create the ocm response file in turn off ocm option (run as oracle)
    $ORACLE_HOME/OPatch/ocm/bin/emocmrsp -no_banner -output /home/oracle/unconfig.rsp
    5. Run the command as root without any oracle environment variable setup
    /oracle/product/11g/OPatch/opatch auto /home/oracle/dba/patches/patch_16742216 -ocmrf /home/oracle/unconfig.rsp

Run /d01/clone/SILP14/apps/tech_st/10.1.3/OPatch/ocm/bin/emocmrsp to generate an OCM response file. The generated response file can be reused on different platforms and in multiple OPatch silent installs.

  • 11.2.0.3.2 GI PSU 2 on ASM Based Standalone DB

Applying the GI PSU 2 on a vanilla database is fairly easy. However, patching a standalone database in an Oracle Restart and ASM configuration, which uses Role Separation, and running OPatch in auto mode is a little more challenging. At some point the OPatch auto mode will be clear sailing, but given this configuration there were bumps in the road.
The notes provided in the following link may save you from a sleepless night if your database does not come up after applying the patch.
Good luck, and let me know if you have comments.

    * Do "opatch auto ./install/11203psu5 -ocmrf ./ocm.rsp"
I did it this way seven times now, and can't see a reason not to make it my common for the future.

  • Applying 10.1.2.3 Metadata Repository update in 10.1.4.3 distributed IDM

Hi there, I seem to have a unique issue.
I have the following config of 10.1.4.3 IDM :
SSO in a separate Oracle home
OID in a separate Oracle home
DB (10.2.0.50) in a separte OH and metadata repository installed in this DB
and this is set up in ASR replication mode with other similer setup.
Task : Apply 10.1.2.3 OracleAS patchset.
    The story:
To be fully compliant according to Orcale we ned to apply 10.1.2.3 patch. This patch has two components - a software update and a Metadata Repository (MR) update.
I have applied software update to all the Oracle homes above (with the exception of DB ofcourse).
But to apply MR update I have to do it from a mid-tier OH that also has MR installed, I have none.
I tried installing MR update from SSO and OID oracle home but it would not allow me , I got this message :
The Metadata Repository Update cannot be run from the selected ORACLE_HOME.
The Update must be run from either an Identity Management with Metadata
    Repository installation ...
But we have no middle-tier using this MR, and from this metalik note, it seems applying MR update is not mandatory, only a desirable housekeeping execrcise . :
Understanding How AS 10g Patch Sets Update the AS Metadata Repository [ID 795143.1]
    Exract from that note :
    a. apply the binary update to each AS Oracle Home in the AS Farm.
    b. finally, if possible apply the MR update exactly once from any home that allows it to be run.
also from the same note :
Scenario 6: Applying the 10.1.2.3 AS patch set to a 10.1.4.3 Identity Management home.
The 10.1.2.3 AS patch set is a required patch set, as documented in :
Note: 465847.1 Oracle Identity Management 10g (10.1.4.0.1) Release Notes Addendum.
In this case, the MR Product schemas will not be directly accessed. It is however good practice/ housekeeping to apply the MR update in order to keep the MR in line with the binary patch sets.
    My question :
I am correct in my understanding that apply 10.1.2.3 software update only is neccessary, applying the MR update is only desirable house keeping and not mandatory ?
Would you say this is the correct assessment. if not how would you go about applying the MR update ?
Thanks in advance for your answers.
