Grid infra 11gR2 installation help required

sir
i have some problem.do not know how to solve it?
i need to install grid infrastructure advanced installation.
scenario and question:
i have a raw(74GB) device under ASM on 192.168.1.13.but how to put it into the cluster its not under OCFS2,what to do(under OEL5.4)?
and in another machine(with ip 192.168.1.30) i want to load 11gR2 grid as well as 11gR2 db but how to qualify it to the cluster-aware ASM-ocfs2 disk??i had a a partition /dev/sda3 as LVM group with two mounted partion /ASM1 and /ASM2 as empty ext3 in this machine.what to do?
regards

I guess this will help-- http://blog.ronnyegner-consulting.de/2009/09/14/oracle-11g-release-2-install-guide-%e2%80%93-grid-infrastructure-installation/

To identify the storage requirements for using Automatic Storage Management, you must determine the number of devices and the amount of free disk space that you require. To complete this task:
1.     Determine whether you want to use Automatic Storage Management for Oracle Database files, recovery files, or both.
Note:
You do not have to use the same storage mechanism for , Oracle Database files, and recovery files. You can use a file system for one file type and Automatic Storage Management for the other.
If you choose to enable automated backups and you do not have a shared file system available, then you must choose Automatic Storage Management for recovery file storage.
If you plan to enable automated backups during the installation, then you can choose Automatic Storage Management as the storage mechanism for recovery files by specifying an Automatic Storage Management disk group for the fast recovery area. Depending on how you choose to create a database during the installation, you have the following options:
o     If you select an installation method that runs Oracle Automatic Storage Management Configuration Assistant in interactive mode, then you can decide whether you want to use the same Automatic Storage Management disk group for database files and recovery files, or you can choose to use different disk groups for each file type. Ideally, you should create separate Automatic Storage Management disk groups for data files and for recovery files.
The same choice is available to you if you use Oracle Database Configuration Assistant after the installation to create a database.
o     If you select an installation type that runs Oracle Automatic Storage Management Configuration Assistant in silent or response file mode, then you must use the same Automatic Storage Management disk group for data files and recovery files.
2.     Choose the Automatic Storage Management redundancy level that you want to use for each Automatic Storage Management disk group that you create.
The redundancy level that you choose for the Automatic Storage Management disk group determines how Automatic Storage Management mirrors files in the disk group and determines the number of disks and amount of disk space that you require, as follows:
o     External redundancy
This option does not allow Automatic Storage Management to mirror the contents of the disk group. Oracle recommends that you select this redundancy level either when the disk group contains devices, such as RAID devices, that provide their own data protection or when the database does not require an uninterrupted access to data.
o     Normal redundancy
To optimize performance and reliability in a normal redundancy disk group, Automatic Storage Management uses two-way mirroring for data files and three-way mirroring for control files, by default. In addition, you can choose the mirroring characteristics for individual files in a disk group. Alternatively, you can use two-way mirroring or no mirroring.
A normal redundancy disk group requires a minimum of two failure groups (or two disk devices) if you are using two-way mirroring. The effective disk space in a normal redundancy disk group is half the sum of the disk space in all of its devices.
For most installations, Oracle recommends that you use normal redundancy disk groups.
o     High redundancy
The contents of the disk group are three-way mirrored by default. To create a disk group with high redundancy, you must specify at least three failure groups (a minimum of 3 devices).
Although high-redundancy disk groups provide a high level of data protection, you must consider the higher cost of additional storage devices before deciding to use this redundancy level.
3.     Determine the total amount of disk space that you require for the database files and recovery files.
If an Automatic Storage Management instance is already running on the system, then you can use an existing disk group to meet these storage requirements. If necessary, you can add disks to an existing disk group during the installation.
Use the following table to determine the minimum number of disks and the minimum disk space requirements for the installation:
Redundancy Level     Minimum Number of Disks     Data Files     Recovery Files     Both File Types
External     1     1.8 GB     3.6 GB     5.4 GB
Normal     2     3.6 GB     7.2 GB     10.8 GB
High     3     5.4 GB     10.8 GB     16.2 GB
4.     Optionally, identify failure groups for the Automatic Storage Management disk group devices.
If you intend to use a normal or high redundancy disk group, then you can further protect the database against hardware failure by associating a set of disk devices in a custom failure group. By default, each device comprises its failure group. However, if two disk devices in a normal redundancy disk group are attached to the same SCSI controller, then the disk group becomes unavailable if the controller fails. The controller in this example is a single point of failure.
To avoid failures of this type, you can use two SCSI controllers, each with two disks, and define a failure group for the disks attached to each controller. This configuration would enable the disk group to tolerate the failure of one SCSI controller.
Note:
If you define custom failure groups, then you must specify a minimum of two failure groups for normal redundancy disk groups and three failure groups for high redundancy disk groups.
5.     If you are sure that a suitable disk group does not exist on the system, then install or identify appropriate disk devices to add to a new disk group. Apply the following guidelines when identifying appropriate disk devices:
o     The disk devices must be owned by the user performing the grid installation.
o     All the devices in an Automatic Storage Management disk group should be the same size and have the same performance characteristics.
o     Do not specify multiple partitions on a single physical disk as a disk group device. Automatic Storage Management expects each disk group device to be on a separate physical disk.
o     Oracle does not recommend the use of a logical volume as a device in Automatic Storage Management because the logical volume is capable of hiding the physical disk architecture which prevents Automatic Storage Management from optimizing I/O across physical devices.

This is silly. Just because you don't know Vuze doesn't mean there's no problem with this update. My friends are having the same issue, of course we are looking at possible problem from Vuze's part but we cannot really say this update has 100% nothing to do with Vuze's launch failure, can we?
P.S. Since Vuze is not banned by law, it's still legal to use it. It's up to people if they want to use it for good or bad.

  • How many disk for redundancy on Grid Infrastructure 11gR2 Installation?

I would like too know, How many least disk for normal and high redundancy ?
and please explain to me about structure of normal redundancy & high redundancy.

Redundancy Level      Minimum Number of Disks
    External           1
    Normal                2
    High                3
If you only have a disk, means you will not be able to implement normal/high redundancy. In external redundancy ASM presumes the data duplication is taken care at a storage level (e.g. mirrored SAN etc.).
structure of normal redundancy & high redundancyRedundancy is actually a data duplication, so let say if a disk in a Disk Group1 fails, and there is a fail over Disk Group B, so ASM will continue operation.
    Must read note for you..
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B28359_01/server.111/b28301/asm002.htm#ADMQS12079
    Extractions from the link..
Failure groups are used to determine which ASM disks to use for storing redundant copies of data. example, if 2-way mirroring is specified for a file, ASM automatically stores redundant copies of file extents in separate failure groups.

  • Installing Grid Infrastructure 11gR2 on a 2nodes cluster: device names req.

Hello, I am trying to install Grid Infrastructure 11gR2 on 2 sun nodes (Solaris 10) in order to try the product. but I am finding an error on the second node. After installing the software on both nodes and executing root.sh in the first node, the second node is complaining about the device I have defined for OCR, voting and ASM (the easiest scenary, 1 diskgroup for OCR, voting and ASM with 1 disk ) :
DiskGroup conf_dg creation failed with the following message:
    ORA-15018: diskgroup cannot be created
ORA-15031: disk     specification '/dev/rdsk/c5t500601603CE02E8Ed20s0' matches no disks
I have realised this device has not the same name on both nodes as boxes are different; the device name in the second system is
    c2t500601673CE02E8Ed20s0
This is slice 0 of and EMC Clariion LUN. As this info is recorded at the crsconfig_params file in both nodes and is the same, should the device names be the same on the N nodes of a Clusterware cluster? How should I do to correct the installation of the second node?
    Thanks in advance.

1st of all i want to know that is there any way i can run forms without using Oracle AS 10g ...
    2ndly i m facing problems in installation of Oracle AS 10g ...
i have studied online documentation but it ain't so helpfull for me ...
it seems like ... i have to install "Oracle AS infrastructure" first and then "Middle-tier: Business Intelligence and forms" ...
i m using P-IV (AMD Athlon XP 2100+, MMX, 1.7GHz Processor) with 512 MB DD RAM and Windows XP Professional with Service Pack 2 as Operating System.
During installation, the installer is warning dat only "Oracle Application Server (J2EE and Web Cache)" and "Oracle Application Server Developer Kits" are supported installations on dis platform ...
what should i do ... urgent help required ...

and can i view forms running on web without installing Oracle AS with OC4J bundled in Forms ???
    Another Problem:
I re-installed Database, Developer suite and then Oracle AS infrastructure ...
    everthing went fine ...
when i installed Oracle AS Middle Tier - Business Intelligence & Forms
during installation ... some configuration assistants failed/skipped ...
da OC4J configration assistant at 5th last position failed ... so remaining 4 configuration assistants were skipped ...
at da end it said ... Installation Succesfull but with some configuration assistants failed/skipped ...
is dis a installation useless ... can i fix dis ?

  • Help required with (soundcard) connection / settings, thanks in advan

Help required with connection / settings between a Creative Sound Blaster Audigy Platinum EX (soundcard) and a Creative DTT3500 Digital (5. speakers).
    The problem
No sound from any of the speakers. (Exception can plug in headphones at front)
    Background
My computer has been recently upgraded at my local computer shop and all programs re-installed (including driver update from Creative's website). However after reconnecting speakers and restoring the original settings I?m getting no sound from any of the speakers. I?ve followed all the available advice/instructions I can find on this website and manuals to no avail.
    Set-up
    Physical
(Digital DIN) Speakers/decoder amplifier (DTT3500) connected to the (digital out) soundcard (Audigy Platinum EX) using minijack to DIN cable. (As per instruction manual)
    Software
Creative Audio Consul ? setting as per instructions, however have tried variations in vain. (Note: above tabs there is a select device box with SB Audigy [A0000] in it ? only option. Just wondering what [A0000] means?)
Your advice please. A simple step by step guide would be appreciated, many thanks in advance, Jon

"My computer has been recently upgraded at my local computer shop and all programs re-installed (including driver update from Creative's website). "
Do you have the original installation disk?
If so, try installing THOSE drivers, ESPECIALLY if it worked before. Be sure to uninstall what is there now, first.
Its natural for most people to want the 'latest' drivers for their hardware. However:
After experiencing some difficulties with some CL 'updates' for certain products, I now avoid them UNLESS I am having a PROBLEM with the existing drivers.

  • Build installer LV2009, requires OLD distribution installation disks?

When building an Installer using LabVIEW 2009, and including additional distributions, why does the installer builder require the original distribution disks from the install DVD/CDs?  Why are the version required not promoted to the LATEST update installed?  This is a real PITA when I have to go find the disks from 1Q2009, no wait, it did not ask for that, it asked for Feb 2009 device drivers disk 2.
This is as bad as Microsoft for installing from original distributions.
It is not a good thing to expect that I have to maintain a library of DVDs/CDs for every distribution/update I have ever used.  Especially when I am taking work home, and do not have access to this ENTIRE library, rather a copy of the lasest update ONLY.
to National Instruments, Thoughts on this?

Thanks Craig... BUT, I only have LabVIEW 2009 Intalled.  although I have upgraded components through the quartely updates.  So while what you say is true... it does NOT necessarly mean that you have 'multiple' versions of the LabVIEW development environment installed
That said... I have been at this for a little while (more than a day, but less than the time since dinosaurs walked)... and app building is something that has become much more complicated over time... I want to know WHY NI does not promote the installers/distributions to the most current version on the update DVD/CD where applicable... but you bring up a good point... If it cannot promote the distribution, it should give you a warning and ASK you if you wish to 'cache' the obsolete distribution as it does when building the current distribution.  This gives you an option to cache it WHILE the distribution is handy.
Failing that, in the project, there should be an option to have it display the currently required distributions as opposed to having to build the installer object, start the installer build, then wait for it to ask you.... by then it maybe too late.
I realize that you are trying to help/offer workarounds... I appreciate what you are trying to do... BUT, in this case, I want NI's people to justify what they are doing and why.  This goes beyond wish list, this requires justification, as even Microsoft has addressed this issue.

  • Oracle 11GR2 installation Prerequsite check - IZ42940 failed

Oracle 11GR2 installation Prerequisite check fails with the following:
    OS PATCH : IZ42940 failed
    OS PATCH : IZ49516 failed
    OS PATCH : IZ52331 failed
I have AIX 5.3 level with the patch level as below:-
    oslevel -s
    5300-12-02-1036
If I check at OS , I get
    /usr/sbin/instfix -i -k "IZ42940 IZ49516 IZ52331"
there was no data for IZ42940 in the fix database
there was no data for IZ49516 in the fix database
there was no data for IZ52331 in the  fix database
I have checked the latest AIX patch in media, which I am using, doesnu2019t contain these fixes IZ42940 , IZ49516 and IZ52331.
I am just wondering how do I install these fixes IZ42940 , IZ49516 and IZ52331,
    Please help,

    Hello Abu,
I am just wondering how do I install these fixes IZ42940 , IZ49516 and IZ52331
The fix-numbers are only valid for one AIX TL - this means if the installer was released with TL 05 (for example) .. you will get this message if you are using TL 12 now, because of the fix numbers have changed.
The only way to verify it is to go to the following IBM page and check the fix numbers for your TL.
    In your cases:
    IZ42940 - https://www-304.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=isg1fixinfo110763
    IZ49516 - https://www-304.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=isg1fixinfo112964
    IZ52331- https://www-304.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=isg1fixinfo115020
If your AIX TL level is not mentioned in these pages ... just take the previous TL Fix number and check for this.
    Regards
    Stefan
