Grid Lines show up in certain print types.

HP Officejet Pro 8600 all in one.Imac OS 10.6.8When ever I print in black and white mode for any size or type document or when I print in color to a single 4x6 photo page the vertical grid lines show up on the print. I don't have this problem when I print the same 4x6 color photo on a full size 8x10 page. I don't have this problem whenever I print any document in color. I have deep cleaned the print heads and realigned the print heads several times; but I cannot lose the grid lines when I print in black and white and try to print color to the smaller format paper? I love this printer otherwise. Setup was easy, operation is user friendly, and it prints beautifully other than these two little annoying instances. Can anyone offer a solution?

Yes, I am experiencing this as well. Thin black vertical lines about 2.8cm apart. Initially I thought they were just on things sent to the printer from Photoshop, but now I see them on colour items I print directly from the copier and on an email attachment from my iPad. At times the lines are barely visible ant that is what happened when I was talking wiht hp support. It looked as though the problem had been solved after reloading the software onto my iMac. But afterI hung up with them it happened again and when I went back to look at the other prints the lines were there too but not very visible. I have cleaned and aligned the heads and replaced an empty yellow cartridge. I printed a blank white sheet that had no lines. I cannot figure it out. Any suggestions anyone?

• How can I eliminate grid lines of selected cells when printing, in iOS numbers

How can I eliminate grid lines of selected cells when printing, using iOS numbers

Hi Cmlgfx,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
You can style a table to remove grid lines and only show an "outline" around the table itself.
See this article for help with table styles:
Numbers for iOS (iPad): Place and style tables
http://support.apple.com/kb/PH3365
To show or hide the table name, table border, and grid lines, alternate row colors, or adjust fonts, tap Table Options at the bottom of the Table window (you may need to scroll up in the window to see it), and then set your preferences using the options in the Table Options window. (When you’re done, tap at the top of the window to see other options.)
All the best,
Jeremy

• How Can I Print without the shadowed grid lines showing up?

Does anyone know how to print out a page where your bordered cells show up and the background shadowed grid or cells don't print?

You can take control of your grids and outlines by using the Tables Inspector > Cell Borders.
What you described sounds like grid lines set to "Thin" and the color set to a shade of gray. You may also choose None or a number of other patterns, colors and thicknesses. Do some experimenting. The range of cells you have selected will be affected by your choices.

• Black lines show up on final print

In CS4 when ever I save to PDF and try to print my document these horizontal black lines show up. They are most notable around areas with varying transparency.
This happen to anyone else? Any ideas?

Is your print head clean and are you using the right paper? Sounds like it's simply spitting too much ink on the paper and it smears... also reset your printer driver settings, if you used some "Saturation" tweaks. This will increase the amount of ink used and further the issue.

• Printing iCal grid lines...?

Hello.
I would like to print my weekly calendar with the grid lines showing.
Is there a way to do this?
Thank you.

Hi Jack,
I'm sure anyone who actually knows details of iCal in Leopard is not allowed to say.
Currently you could have 3-4 categories in different colors, but when you publish to the web/.Mac they are all in the same color
I currently publish three seperate calendars to a Webdav server and use PHPiCalendar to view them. They all show up as separate individually coloured calendars.
I'd submit your suggestions as user feedback if I were you.
Best wishes

• Spry table, vertical grid lines

How do you format a table so the vertical grid lines show up.
I have the roll over effect working for rows in the table, but the
tables are large enough that is can be difficult to follow columns
straight down. I would like black vertical line to appear between
columns.
thanks.

If I understand you right, you wish to have spreadsheet type
columns. In that case this is not a Spry question but an HTML and
CSS question.
In CSS the format would look something like:
#mytable th {
text-align: left;
padding: 3px;
font-weight: bold;
border:1px solid #AAA;
background-color: #EFEFEF;
In the above example I am formatting a heading cell.
In IE, if the cell is empty there will be no border, thus it
is best to populate the cell with a space as in ' '.
I hope this helps.

• How do I remove unwanted dark grid lines from my Basic_Graphic_Textures?

Basically, I have been having dark grid lines show up in files I create in Illutrator CS6 as of late. This particular instance is surrounding a background layout im trying to create. I select a 650x500 rectangle and apply a patterns fill. To be specific, Patterns--->Basic Graphics--->Basic_Graphics_Textures-----Diamonds. No matter what I do, there is a dark grid benath the fill. It shows up in any fill I have been doing lately.
The above image is a layout with 3 layers. 1 white layer(bottom), 1 red/pink layer(middle), and the top layer being the rectangle/diamond fill.
This only happens with pattern fills and with fluid repeating text fills. Normally, the dark lines are full squares, but in the above image they are only running vertically. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I'm not sure if this is just a hardware issue with my graphics card, or if I'm missing something else.

The patterns are for filling space with a repeating pattern but have some problems as you are discovering. Try dragging the swatch for the Diamonds texture from the Swatch panel to a file you have open. You can see how the pattern is created. Notice the overhang on both sides. Does this look like your problem?
By changing the stroke of the line in the Diamonds pattern to 0.25 and replacing the swatch I have to go out to 50% size to see the repeat like this

• How do I get the Grid lines to show on the printed sheet in numbers?

When I print out a page from Numbers the Grid lines do not appear. What do I need to do to correct this?

Add them in using the border formatting tool. select the table:
Then open the formatter:
Now do the following:
1) select the border style
2) select the border weight
3) select the border color
4) select which borders

• How to print a report without row numbers or grid lines?

Is there a way to print a Discoverer report without row numbers or grid lines?
Thank you.
Blake

Hi Blake
You're not doing anything wrong.
The settings made when you use Tools | Options | Sheet are global settings that are only applied to new workbooks and worksheets going forwards. These have no impact on existing worksheets or even the one you currently have open. This is because Discoverer does not know whether your original worksheets were setup in a certain way deliberately as opposed to inheriting the global settings as they were at that time. What this also means, reading between the lines, is that these settings must then be stored within the worksheet itself, and this is exactly what happens.
Thus, to edit an existing worksheet's settings you need to open the worksheet, right-click in the sheet and from the popup select either Format Table or Format Crosstab depending upon the type of worksheet you are working with. After making any necessary changes you will need to save or re-save the workbook in order for those settings to be remembered for the next time.
Best wishes

• When I have a border around a group of cellsand remove it, it also removes the grid lines. When I go to print the sheet, there are blank spaces where the border had been. I'm sing a MacBook.

When I have a border around a group of cell, how do I remove it. If I outline the cells again and then show in the Inspector NO BORDER, it removes not only the borderbut when I go to print it also the grid lines.

What application are you using? Numbers? Excel? Something else?
For help with Numbers spreadsheets go to this forum.
If you are using Excel, Microsoft has a forum to help you.
If it is something else, let us know what and we will try to point you in the right direction.

• Printing Grid Lines

Anyway to print the grid lines in iCal better than they currently print?

The gridlines are just for showing where the cells are, they do not print. You need to add borders around the cells. Borders will print.
The basic table style in the Blank template has borders already. The "basic (no grid)" table style does not have borders. Out of curiosity, how did you arrive at a table with no borders?

• Line Chart glitch - grid lines thick at certain heights

The Flex Line Chart control does not display correctly at certain heights. The gridlines that are supposed to be 1px pin stripes are sometimes displayed up to 100px wide. This can be demonstrated with 1 line of code
<mx:LineChart height="33000" x="200" y="0" id="chart_1" width="100" ></mx:LineChart>
I also have another small app that uses a timer to demonstrate how as the height increases the gridlines increase from:
1px to 100px
then back to 1px
.... then as the chart's height increases another 7000px the 1px gridlines display correctly
then it repeats going back to thick, then thin etc... almost a pulsating effect
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<s:Application xmlns:fx="http://ns.adobe.com/mxml/2009" xmlns:s="library://ns.adobe.com/flex/spark"
xmlns:mx="library://ns.adobe.com/flex/mx" minWidth="955" minHeight="600" creationComplete="init();">
<fx:Script>
<![CDATA[
import flash.utils.Timer;
import flash.events.TimerEvent;
private var timer:Timer = new Timer(10);
private function init():void{
timer.addEventListener(TimerEvent.TIMER, changeheight);
timer.start();
private function changeheight(event:TimerEvent):void{
chart_1.height=chart_1.height+30;
lblHeight.text="Chart Height:"+String(chart_1.height)+"px ";
]]>
</fx:Script>
<mx:LineChart height="33000" x="200" y="0" id="chart_1" width="100" ></mx:LineChart>
<s:Label id="lblHeight" />
<s:Button y="80" click="timer.start();" label="Start" />
<s:Button y="100" click="timer.stop();" label="Stop" />
</s:Application>

Are you able to acheive this.?
PCXML script is used for chart rendering, and with that I think you can't demark the Gridlines.
The following Xml file gives the definitions for the chart components including gridlines.
chartviewtemplates.xml
Which inturn refers to the following js for gridlines
i think you have to work on the Js here demark the grid lines by default
<Oracle_BIHome>\web\app\res\b_mozilla\views\chart
dlggridlineseditor.js
Before doing any changes take the backup.
Thanks,

• Problem removing grid lines from prints in PhotoShop Elements 13

I cannot remove faint grid lines from my prints in Photoshop Elements 13, even after I've turned off the grid overlay. How can I get these lines out? I'm desperate as I am writing a book and am stymied at this point. Help!

The grid does not print. There has to be another source for the visible grid lines on your prints. Suggest that you do the following:
Make sure that your ink cartridges have plenty of ink
Do a deep cleaning of your print head
Align the cartridges as per instructions in the printer's manual
Do a test print

• Remove grid lines when printing

I am trying to print a set of financial statements and do not want to see the grid lines when printing the final document. I cannot work out how to do this.
Some posts I have read say that grid lines are described as cell borders and suggest that they can be removed using the inspectors "cell borders " facility.
I have tried to do this but cannot make it happen. If I were to successfully remove the borders/grid lines then surely this would also remove the underlines I have inserted with great effort.
I would really appreciate anyone's help with this

One more time, it's useful to use our brain before stating a task.
If I read well, you used some cell borders as an underline segment.
Now you pay the result of a bad design.
You have no way to remove only borders which aren't "underlining" ones.
Next time think before and use the Underline text attribute so you will be able to remove the grid easily.
I know that some spreadsheets have two structures :
grid
borders
But, those which took time to read the User Guide know that in Numbers there is a single structure :
borders.
So, remove or hide grid means remove or hide borders.
When we work with a tool, we may ask it what it is designed to do, not what we guess it will be able to achieve.
