Grid on every image

Every image that opens in PS has the grid on, I'm having to hide it every time.
Unsure why this has started happening, hope somebody may know why?
Alex

It's most likely due to a corrupt Preferences and will need to be reset.
1. Mac - Holding down the Command, Option, Shift keys while starting up Photoshop will cause a dialog box to appear. You will be prompted to delete your Photoshop settings file.
2. PC - Holding down the Alt, Ctrl, and Shift keys while starting up Photoshop will cause a dialog box to appear. You will be prompted to delete your Photoshop settings file.

  • What is the easiest way to create a grid/matrix of images?

We want to create a 'graduation plaque' with a number of students in a grid - like this
    http://50.asc.upenn.edu/drupal/sites/default/files/50th%20Anniversary/Students%20and%20Cla sses/1990's/Class%20of%201993.JPG
The source photos are all different sizes. Is there a faster/easier method of producing something like this rather than resizing every image to fit a predefined size and then manually placing them on separate layers?

Contact Sheet II is a Photoshop Plug-in Script writen by xbytor.  He is a much better Photoshop Script writer then me I'm just a hacker.  Contact Sheet is a much more complicate script then mine for is a Photoshop Plug-in with Photoshop action support.  It is also not designed to size all image to the exact same size and aspect ratio if images sizes and aspect ratio differ there will be some variation in images sizes on the contact sheets.  The only labeling it will do is place the file names on the contact sheet.
My script is simpler therefor easier to change then Contact Sheet II and my Script is designed to make all image unform in size.  My script does not do any labeling but it would be easy to add to a point. My script is also only set up the do spacing the same vertically and horizontally but adding a couple of field to its dialog you could easily separate them but this might not be needed.  The hard part would be the labeling for you may want to rotate the roll paper print so it a wide image rather then tall. In which case the labeling would need be set up up rotated and moved the the side of the image which would be rotated because of the tile aspect ratio set up  you would make tile have a landscape aspect ratio. Portraits would automatically be rotate for best fit, when you rotate the print they will be orientated portrait.  The labeling would need to have at least two options in the dialog,  One to do labeling and one for which way you want the labeling done to the side or below. All image processed must have the same orientation otherwise some will be rotated not all or none. Image can vary in size and aspect ratio.  But all should be landscape or portrait for the script is designed to rotate image for best fit into tile size.

  • Adobe Bridge (CS6) - bulk action - JPEG Options must be OKed for every image

    Hi all-
I created an action script for a watermark in Photoshop CS6. Then, I ran my script as a bulk action in Adobe Bridge (CS6) against my JPEGs. However, the JPEG Options dialog/window appears for every image in PS. Is there a way to have this automatically OK (and at the highest quality) so that I don't have to sit and click OK over and over?
I am on a Mac btw.
    Thanks!

  • The images imported to my stage turn up as blank and render every image previous to the rogue imported image as red squares that fill the perimeters of the image which then renders the publishing and scene testing features in flash useless, what can i do

I have been working on animating a scene in flash for a few weeks and recently I have encountered a problem with importing my images on to the stage where the images I import do not turn up, however the key frame that I attempted to import the image onto shows that it is occupied by an image and every frame previous to the key frame that just imported an image that does not show turns up as a red square that fills the original perimeters of the image, there is no solution to this problem any where on the forum and the adobe technical support staff will not help me find a solution to this problem what can I do to get Flash running normally again and fix this problem?????
Also after the first time i publish a preview after i begin using flash, flash renders the publishing and scene testing features as useless and claims that there is no HTML template found, or if the images if i import any images onto the stage that come up blank and render every image previous to that image as a red square and then try and publish a preview  flash renders the publishing and scene testing features as useless and claims that there is no HTML template found. What can I do to fix this problem??? there is no solution on the web anywhere to this problem either.

I don't know if Flash has a memory limit of its own. The memory for your Flash file is based on the available memory on your computer.
There is a limit on the number of frames that you can have in any given timeline. I think that it's about 15000 frames, but that's a guess. Flash does all of its work at runtime, this means that no part of your animation is pre-compiled like it is in a video file. So the more objects that you have on the stage, the more work Flash has to do. It follows that the more objects that there are to animate, the more work your processor and the video card have to do.

  • Every image on my iMac was imported into iPhoto!

Every image on my iMac was imported into iPhoto, even icons, templates, DVD covers and game images. There are even videos in my iPhotos library. He (who shall remain nameless!) was really only trying to help and clicked the wrong thing - obviously. What a mess! How do I get them back where they belong? (I'm still using iPhoto '09.)

Thanks, John. I read in another post that when you delete an image from iPhoto, it deletes the original from the computer too, not just the library. So, I was understandably nervous.
Understandably, yes. He who shall not be named may have chosen "Import to Library..." and selected a folder or even your entire hard disk's contents. Doing so would result in every readable image file being imported.
If that's what he did, I just did too and verified original files remained untouched after importing then subsequently deleting them from iPhoto. So, I have no explanation for whatever the other post indicated.

  • Metadata conflict on Mac for every image

I have recently installed 2.0 on a iMAC having previously been running 1.3.
When I migrated the catalog file all the metadata is there ok but eventually the metadata conflict badge appears on every image prior to early 2007 and the metadata status says "conflict detected" as the previews are created.
I have never used any sidecar files so there are no XMPs anywhere. If I click on the error symbol I don't want either choice - "import settngs" destroys the metadata I have and "overwrite" creates a new XMP file which I don't want.
I don't have any problems creating virtual copies so this is not the same as the metadata problem that (I think) is now common knowledge on PC platforms.
I tried deleting the 2.0 catalog upgrading the 1.3 software to 1.4 and doing another catalog migration to 2.0 with the same result.
Also tried moving the catalog folders to outside the directory where the photos are with no change either.
There are 15,000 images or so the vast majority of which are raw but the problem occurs whether they are jpg or canon Raw.
In practice the error doesn't actually seem to mean anything or cause any problems but clearly something is not right.

Ian - A timestamp issue? Perhaps LR thinks the timestamp of those photos is now different than it
thought prior to LR2? This is pure conjecture but I base this theory on two things:
    - LR2 now correctly handles timestamps where LR1 had well known bugs. So there may be a change here
    that affects you.
    - I've seen many pieces of software that choke on file timestamps when crossing a daylight savings
time change. Anything that needs to compare two copies of the timestamps for the same file has to
deal with this correctly and it's not necessarily trivial. I'm not saying LR2 doesn't handle this
    properly - just a thought.
If it were me, I'd look at the timestamps in the XMP files and compare those to the times displayed
    in the LR2 GUI.

  • Double copy of every image in iPhoto as well as Image capture

Whenever I connect my iPhone I always get a double copy of every image in iPhoto as well as Image capture

  • Every image I have edited since upgrading to Lightroom 5 has been corrupted.

Every image I have edited since upgrading to Lightroom 5 has been corrupted. First I was shooting in RAW and there was an issuw with my operating system. I upgraded to Maverick and it was supposedly fixed. Then there was an issue because LR didn't work with my camera (Nikon D90) and an update supposedly fixed that. So I finally started shooting JPEGs to try to avoid the RAW issue altogether... Now even the JPEGs say they are corrupted. I am at my wits end! Somebody please help me figure out why I can't seem to do ANYTHING anymore!

    >When I go to the files in finder, the corrupted NEFs are not able to be
seen, but the corrupted JPEGs are!
They don't open or do you get a blank screen when you try to open them or
do the files not have icons? It's a good sign that your jpegs are visible
though. That does make me think the preview database or catalog in
    Lightroom is screwed up.
    >When I try to plug the camera into the computer with a USB cord it doesn't
    recognize it
What happens when you plug the camera in turn it on and select import
photos in Lightroom? You should get to see the images on the camera. Try
different USB cables if it doesn't work. Also try changing the USB mode on
your camera. I think the old Nikons had a setting to change between PtP and
Mass storage mode. Just changing it might make it work. This all does smell
a little like the USB ports are bad on the computer something they should
be able to diagnose at the Apple Store but you might want to ask about.

  • Why do I get a grid over my image when I first open it up?

Why do I get a grid over my image when I first open it up?  I've looked in my preferences and can't find a way to have this issue stop.

Are you saying that if you turn off the Grid, it reappears the next time you open an image?  That is obviously wrong, and tjhe setting is in Preferences as you surmised, so if that is what is happening, I'd try deleteing the preferences file to reset it.  (Shift Alt Ctrl while you lauch Photoshop)

  • How can I permanently disable the pixel grid for all images forever?

I keep turning this off with View -> Show -> Pixel grid and it keeps coming back every time I zoom in on a new image.
Is there a registry setting I can change to permanently disable this feature? Or any other way?

Perhaps a Prefs Reset will fix this. Hold down ctrl-alt-shift and start Photoshop.

  • Show file size in Cell Extras? (Either Compact or Expanded, or anywhere in Grid for multiple images simultaneously)

I've searched and seen several suggestions saying to change Metadata to Exif & IPTC to see the file size, but that's for only one image at a time. Under Cell Extras (both Compact and Expanded) I see options for Megapixeps, Cropped Dimensions, File Name, Extention, and a bunch of other options, but no file size. I suspect this is because file size isn't a metadata field and simply a file attribute (that may be incorrect, but regardless...) is there really no way to have file size visible in the thumbnail cells in Grid view in the Library? I'm trying to reduce redundancy and viewing file size of multiple images at a glance based on my Library Filter criteria would be a huge help. Thanks to anyone who can help sort me out!

Sure. I have a catalog with 22,000 images indiscriminately imported from hundreds of folders and multiple drives from this year alone (partially lost a RAID array to a corrupt index and recovered a dump of the files so I'm terribly disorganized juggling emergency redundancy backups wherever I had 50 gigs here, 100 gigs there, and working to clean up and organize my photos one year at a time ), including raw, jpg, websized jpg, png, tiff and psd (flattened and with layers/adjustments) and am now trying to identify my keepers and delete unnecessary files. I have 22 terabytes of personal files and photography spread chaotically and while I now have proper discipline when saving variants, I didn't always and want to remove unneeded, rejected, and duplicate images. I don't expect to be caught up for months or longer depending on my free time and sanity. Unfortunately, it's not as simple as keep the raw delete the rest. Sometimes I have multiple PSD documents with different version names and edits, sometimes with multiple layers, and I have to use a variety of information to identify which one is indeed the correct one to keep...or open them all/both.
Often, file size can be an indicator for me and aids in making the decision more quickly. For instance between 2 psd files with the same Megapixles I'm often able to identify the flattened version vs the layers intact version by file size if it wasn't properly noted in the filename, which unfortunately due to a combination of bad or evolving practices and being tired or rushed happens more often than I'd like to admit. One I just came across that brought me here searching was 3 similarly named and appearing PSD files of a panorama, all with the same MP/dimensions. One was flattened, one was the original stitch, and one was flattened with a few masks, adjustments, and an extra layer, and being the one I'd want to keep. Filesize helped me quickly identify which was which. Also sometimes dimensions are misleading, like when a panorama is first created and uncropped, its dimensions are larger, but a tighter cropped image with multiple layers and a larger file size indicates to me that it is newer and more finished, even though smaller dimensions typically indicates a crop and may not be a 'master' copy. Additionally, 2 images with different names but the exact same file size are very likely duplicates (at least in my workflow) but 2 similarly looking images with the same dimensions could be retouched/not, sharpened/not, have noise reduction/not, and I'd have to view them in detail to determine if they were in fact identical. For my purposes (since these are my personal fine art images & I have the raw files incase I occasionally mess up) I'm often willing to trade an educated guess for my time. Seeing identical file sizes on 2 apparently similar images is good enough for me to delete one.
I can select them individually and check...it's not a horrific problem. But it would save me time so I was hoping I had simply missed how to view that. My reasoning is 'why not' have the option available with all the others? Me personally, I don't care about megapixels when I already have the dimensions, that's just redundant and honestly much less helpful than LxW. File size would be an additional tool I would use, though. There are other examples but the main thing is that I do spend time checking filesize, and specifically when comparing multiple images, so having it displayed in the cell would be a time saver for me.

  • Does anybody know why I get doubles of every image I import from iPhoto 11 to Aperture?

With the upcoming demise of the MobileMe Galleries, I'm making lots of changes to how photos are organized. I'm moving the galleries to a new host. But, I want to pull most of the events, etc from iPhoto 11 to Aperture. iPhoto 11 has been a nightmare to me, and I just want to be done with it. I find that when I import albums from iPhoto to Aperture, I'm getting doubles of every single image. I've set Aperture not to import duplicates, and messed around in other ways, but it's still requiring a LOT of time to delete all these duplicates. Anybody have an idea to fix this?

There's nothing broken and nothing to be fixed. When you migrate from iPhoto to Aperture it imports all the versions - Masters and previews - to the Aperture Library. This is so your migration is lossless.
When you import from iPhoto to Aperture you'll note the versions are tagged 'iPhoto original', 'iPhoto edited' etc so this means it's simple to find the versions in Aperture and delete the ones you might not want.

  • Stop displaying EVERY image file in the Photo Well..

I've just started using the Starter Edition 3 and so far have cataloged 1600 images. When I open PsASE, it displays thumbnails for every one of the 1600 images. How do I stop this? When I get up to 10,000 images, this won't be practical.
    Thanks,
    David

    > I just don't want PSA to load all the thumbnails on launch
That's just the way it works.
Collections and tags have different functions.
A collection lets you see a subset of the whole catalog and select the sequence that you view. This is of limited use in the SE version of PSA. Collections are rather limited in their capability.
Tags are much more powerful, as you can assert multiple tags - e.g. "Fred"/"California"/"Vacation" might show all the pics of Fred on West coast vacations.
