Griffin AirClick USB size query

Hi,
I'm considering buying a Griffin AirClick USB (as opposed to the iPod models), but can't seem to find any info about the size of the usb connector part anywhere. My iMac sits about as close to the wall at the back of my desk as the wires at the back allow, but I'm worried that the receiver part will mean I have to move my computer forward on my desk which I don't really want to do, or will get in the way of the other wires. Would someone who actually has one be kind enough to give me the dimensions of the usb signal receiver or any comments on their experience with this issue?
Thanks

Im thinking of buying Griffins AirClick USB to control my Mac (iTunes, QuickTime etc). I also have Apples iPod Camera Connector, and im wondering, if i plug the AirClick reciever into the camera connector, and plug that into my iPod, could i control my iPod?
Its just im sick of waiting for the new AirClick for dock connecting iPod, and the remotes for both devices are exactly the same.

lol, OK. To be fair, i was thinking of a post to make, in order to test the 'missing post' issue. There's no issue for me
I guess i'll be waiting for the dock connecting AirClick then...

  • Griffin Airclick advise

I'm thinking of using a Griffin Airclick attached to an intel iMac to control iTunes being played through an Airport Express in a different room - Does anyone have any experience of the Airclick's range? The iMac will only be about 12 feet from the Airport Express but the other side of a wall.
    Thanks for any feedback.

Yes it is a bluetooth connection the adapter plugs into the usb in you mac then the remote works in the range of no more then 10meters but depending on the walls and so fort between you and the adapter it might not be 10meters. You can get a connection between you iMac only in a range of 10meters as connection to your phone I dont think it will connect as it is the adapter that the remote control connects with. It doesnt connect with the internal bluetooth system of the iMac so I dont think it can connect to you mobile phone but you can google it and might find away of connecting to your phone.

  • AirClick USB and Airport Express?

    I was wondering....
It would be nice to change iTunes tracks in the living room instead of going to the office and doing it
If i connect an AirClick USB reciever in the AE USB port, can i control the speakers which are also connected to AE. Basiclly i would have speakers connected to AE, playing music from iTunes and wanting to control using the Airclick remote?
I know by plugging the AirClick USB reciever into my computer it works, as the remote is designed to control iTunes/ QT/ Keynote wirelessly.

Griffen's AirClick USB won't work in this manner - its receiver must be plugged into a computer and won't work when plugged into the Airport Express.
There is a product that is designed specifically for this purpose - the Keyspan Express Remote.

  • Griffin iMic USB vs. ADS Tech Instant Music for Vinyl Recording

This is a repost, I posted in OSX accidentally. Sorry! Anyway, can anyone advise me, I am new at this... I just bought an Audio-Technica AT-PL120 Direct Drive Turntable (on its way to me) so I can transfer old LP's to my Macbook Pro for iPod and CD listening. It has a selectable internal stereo phono preamplifier and the ability to choose from phono or line-level output. Now, to get the sound INTO my Macbook pro, should I go with the Griffin iMic USB or the ADS Tech Instant Music for Vinyl Recording? Also, anyone heard of THIS device and do I even need it?

I think you probably have everything you need except for appropriate audio recording software. For example, your MacBook Pro probably has an audio input jack that can be set to line level. If that is the case, then all you need is a cable from the turntable (set at line level) to the MacBook's audio in (plus the recording software).
However, a quick websearch on the ADS thingy found a review which should help you.
    http://www.macnn.com/reviews/review.php?id=164
Based on that, the ADS thing may be worth it just in terms of making it easier for you, even if you don't, strictly speaking, need it. It appears to include recording software called CD Spin Doctor. I'm not too fond if CD Spin Doctor, but it will get get the job done. I like Amadeus for audio recording.
The review may also provide you with sufficient explanation on how to do the whole process.

  • Does Griffin Airclick work with G3 powerbook OS10.2.8?

I just installed the software that came with the airclick (v1) and plugged the transmitter into my old G3 powerbook which runs on 10.2.8. The application appears to be in the applications folder, but it won't open. For curiosity's sake I hooked it up to my G5 desktop which runs on 10.4.5, downloaded the new software for it and it works perfectly. Does anyone have any suggestions?
    Many thanks,
    Rochelle

    Dear jpl,
Thank you for your response. As it turns out, I just needed to install a barebones version of OSX.3 on my old powerbook. Apparently griffin doesn't work with the old system anymore although it did originally in their test labs.
    thanks again,

  • Widescreen window size query

Apologies if this query has already been aired.
I want to burn a FCE project to DVD but have met a problem whereby the widescreen (16:9) final image isn't 'full size'.
Originally, the movie was created using iMovie and then sent to iDVD and has been put to good use.
However, the iMovie project file has been lost and so I ripped the video from one of the DVD's and then used FCE to re-edit, add content etc.
This done, I've exported the movie to QuickTime with, I think, the correct 16:9 settings, etc and then used iDVD to create a disc image and the burnt copies using Toast. However, the final viewed image is of a reduced size (correct 16:9 proportions).
The same movie which was at one time edited with iMovie and then sent to iDVD is viewed correctly, ie full screen.
Can anyone please tell me where I'v gone wrong or advise on a more "correct" way of burning DVD from FCE?
    Many thanks,
    TonyT

Did you check item properties as I asked? What are the item properties for the clips you imported exactly? Is the anamorphic flag set? What are the item properties for the edited sequence exactly? Is the anamorphic flag set there?
    Tom,
Sorry, if my answers seem vague it's because I'm somewhat of a novice with regards to FCE, so please bear with me. I've resorted to using FCE here because iMovie is not producing what I require. (I intend to use FCE from now on, btw).
It would, I guess, be easier if I could send screen shots which may identify the problem better.
The item properties on both the imported QT movie and the new QT sequence have Anamorphic 'checked'.
    7. You are exporting to QuickTime Movie, correct, and taking that to QuickTime Pro, correct?
"not fill the screen as the original iMovie result did" Once again, does this mean it's letterboxed? Please tell how it is not filling the screen and what you see. I cannot see your computer.
I am exporting the finished FCE project to QT Pro and when burnt to DVD, the finished product is in the correct 16:9 ratio but is a smaller image surrounded by black. The original filled the screen.
I cannot really describe it any better with words; again, a screen-shot would better describe.
I cannot help feeling the problem lies in QuickTime somewhere. This is because a similar problem exists when the QT file is imported back into iMovie. In the iMovie window the 16:9 aspect ratio is maintained but the overall image does not fill the window and this is in spite of the correct iMovie prefs being applied.
Using the same QT file imported into FCE presumably will inherit the 'problem'.
You should know that the resulting video will never be to the standard of the original video as it was heavily compressed to get it onto the DVD.
Yes, I'm expecting some degradation in video quality, but this problem of not retaining full screen isnot what I expected.
    Again, your patience is appreciated.

  • Docoment size query?

How large a .PDF file can be converted to MS word .doc?

    Hi wncaldwell screen
There's no explicit page number limit but there is a limit on indirect objects of 8,388,607 in a 32-bit PDF rendering application - Acrobat and Adobe Reader are both 32-bit code - and because each page consumes at least one indirect object, every PDF file created by or opened by Acrobat must have less pages than that. If you were to create a native x64 PDF application you could add more pages, but the resulting files wouldn't open at all in 32-bit apps.
Architecturally there is only one limit in the PDF standard: the overall file size must be below ~10GB as the cross-reference tables which define the PDF structure use 10 bits.

  • Max Heap size query

Can anyone tell me how to determine the current maximum heap size for a jvm running on my machine. Is there a command line entry?
Setting it is java -Xmx[size] ....... but I need to know what the current setting is.
    Thanks

You mean what the default is when you start up the JVM. Then no.
If you mean in the java app (and you mean the java heap), then see Runtime.maxMemory().

  • SNP - Lot Size Query

    Hi Experts,
I have a typical scenario for lot size.
For given product, Minimum lot size is 10000 qty.
But the incremental qty is 100.
    i.e. I can product 10000, 10100, 10200, 10300 and so on..
Can anyone suggest settings required for this condition?
    Thanks in Advance,

Consider maintaining 100 as Rounding Value along with the Minimum Lot Size of 10000.

  • (CS5.5 ePub) images size query

    Hi all
I had some CS5 documents that I converted to ePub and all the images seems to end up as expected in the ePub when I ticked on "Formatted" in the export options. This meant any sizing/cropping on the page was applied to the images upon export. I'm using CS5.5 now and now when I view my ePubs in iBooks images are different sizes. An example is attached - the three images all looked the same size in CS5's ePub. This problem is only visible in iBooks (see screenshot below) - in ADE they all look as expected.
Looking at the ePub the middle (smaller) image is actually smaller in the OEBPS\Images folder, so Indesign is clearly doing that. The code for the three images is
    <div class="Basic-Text-Frame">
      <p class="authors-pic"><img alt="CL-433686-Bradshaw%20et%20al-SimonBradshaw.jpg" class="image" height="72" src="../Images/CL-433686-Bradshaw%20et%20_fmt.jpeg" width="72" /></p>
      <p class="authors-pic"><img alt="CJMcolourheadshotFeb2011.jpg" class="image" height="71" src="../Images/CJMcolourheadshotFeb20_fmt.jpeg" width="71" /></p>
      <p class="authors-pic"><img alt="CL-433686-Bradshaw%20et%20al-IanWalden.JPG" class="image" height="72" src="../Images/CL-433686-Bradshaw%20et_fmt1.jpeg" width="72" /></p>
    </div>
I noticed that the middle one is marked to be 71px rather than 72px - I changed that in the code but it didn't help. CS5 didn't add these sizes to the code. If I take them out altogether it doesn't help since the images themselves are different sizes. iBooks doesn't seem to be honouring them.
The images in ID are different sizes and resolutions. I suppose what I need is a way to simulate CS5's "Formatted" setting. I've played around with the settings (Fixed/Relative to Page Size) but to no avail. I've read Cari Jansens's post on "EPUB Export and Relative to Page Size". Anyone suggest the best way forward?
    thanks,
    Iain

Cari Jensen did some experimenting with the new image export features of EPUB in InDesign CS5.5. Maybe you'll find it helpful:

  • Opening photos in iPhoto - size query

    Hello
I have iPhoto '11  version 9.4.3  and use Mountain Lion OS X 10.8.4 on a 24" iMac around 4 years old
When I now open photographs in iPhoto, instead of a nice big clear and attractive picture, I see a small version like this:-
Please can you tell me how to restore things to how they should be?
Any help will be much appreciated!
    Dave

If you have plenty of space, I'd create a new folder on the Desktop and use the search window from above to copy all full size images to that folder.
Sort the photos by size, select all photos starting from the top of the window to the last sizes you want, and copy them to that folder (hold down the ⌥-key,  and drag the photos from the search window to the folder on the Desktop. The cursor should turn into to indicate copying).
Then import this folder into iPhoto, with "File > Import to Library". When prompted for duplicate images, select "Don't import" duplicates:
iPhoto will craete new events by auto splitting the folder into events, according to your settings.
You may still need to weed out duplicates afterwards.
And I would do this in a new iPhoto library, and not import into the old library, if all your photos are only thumbnails  in that library. Switch to a new iPhoto Library with "File > Switch to Library > Create New".
If the photos were isolated in one older library, you could try to rescue that library with iPhoto Library Manager, but so I have little hope.  Perhaps LarryHN has a simpler solution

  • Help with image size query

    Hi all,
Been using Photoshop for ages, and I'm somewhat embarrassed to ask this question...but here goes: I have 4 images that I want to arrange in a tetraptych. There's more than one way to do this, but here's my problem: Each photo is 2400 wide x 2400 pixels high. I want to have a 10 pixel white border around the 4 images, and 10 pixels in between each image. I then create a new document 9650 pixels wide by 2450 pixels high and move each photo into the new document so that they align with each other. I then use the arrow keys to nudge the photos 10 pixels (assuming each arrow tap is 1 pixel). For some reason there is still not enough space to have the images align with the correct border. I hope this makes sense, but I'm obviously missing something?
    Cheers,
    Paul

Many thanks for the quick reply...much appreciated. I've managed to get what I want via a quick tutorial I found online. Just increased the canvas size on one of the images and pasted the others in. Yes, I made an error with the height (2420 is correct), Cheers!

  • Display size query, + quality loss from iMovie originals

Learning to work the iDVD process, but what is the word on a foolproof sizing method, such that the thing will display OK on any TV? I don't see any way to restrict display size in iMovie, and what good is the TV Safe check, if you can't control the display size?? Also is quality loss inevitable? I'm compiling the DVD from separate files, less than 1 gb ea. I used "full quality" Quicktime compressed versions from the original iMovie file (which look fine in QT); then pulled those back in to iMovie, then shared to iDVD. One of the files looks fine encoded, but the other has weird sizzling-oil standing wave artifacts, even on still scenes from jpegs. Looking for help/comment/expressions of sympathy
    Thanks,

    Hi v
Quality of the DVD-disc depends on several things.
    • Highes Quality isn't Top - better is Best Performances (up to 60 min movie)
confused naming - in iDVD'08 there is Pro Quality AND I like it.
    • Media brand - I use Verbatim
    • Type: DVD-R my choise no DVD+R or +/-RW
    • I save a Disc-Image and burn this at an as SLOW speed as possibly (eg x1) with Toast™
(Disc Util tool can also do this)
    • I DON'T USE the function Share/Export to iDVD from within iMovie - IT IS DESTRUCTIVE !!
Just drop the movie project icon (with a Star on it) into iDVD theme window - then iDVD do the
rendering and so much better. Especially if there is photos in the movie.
    • Free space on internal (start-up) hard disc - should be about 25Gb when all material is imported
and structured. This for iDVD to work with - iDVD can't use an extern hard disc as scratch.
(less than 5Gb - result is most probably of no use at all)
This is what come's first to my mind.
    Yours Bengt W
