Gross Weight Unit of Measure (MARA-GEWEI) SAP ECC 6.0

Hi There,
We use something called IPC for sales over the Internet. IPC is showing the customers our materials from the material master in KG and we need to show them in LB. The reason this is happening is because the materials are created in Europe and there is an automatic creation of the material to our system in the US.  We would like to know if there is something we can do in our system to convert the Gross Weight Unit from KG to LB in an automatic way using some kind of conversion rule? What does T006 has to do with this if there is any relationship?
Thanks for your help.
Luis.

KG and LB belong both to dimesion MASS
KG is the SI unit.
in any unit belonging to dimension MASS you can enter a fix conversion rate to the SI unit KG.
this conversion will then automatically pulled if you enter the LB as alternative unit in your materials.
Further you can call a function module UNIT_CONVERSION_SIMPLE  to convert from one unit to the other

  • Unit of Measurement - MB31 Goods receipt for order

    Hi,
we maintained production unit (MARC-FRTME) for some materials. Now the goods receipt for order with MB31 suggests this production unit (MSEG-ERFME). The customer's requirement is that MB31 suggests the quantity in base unit of measure (MARA-MEINS). The quantity should be the entered value in the confirmation of the last operation.
I implemented BADI WORKORDER_GOODSMVT (IF_EX_WORKORDER_GOODSMVT~MANUAL_GOODS_RECEIPT) to convert the quantity from production unit to base unit of measure. The stock is increased correctly but the Purchase Order Unit of Measure (MSEG-BSTME) is in base unit and not in production unit. If the material document is displayed with MIGO the quantity ordered (Tab Quantity) is wrong. The quantity is the production quantity and the unit is the base unit.
    For example:
    MARA-MEINS:   PC
    MARC-FRTME:  XY
    1 XY <=> 12 PC
Production order: 13 XY (=156 PC)
    MB31 with 100 PC
MIGO: Quantity orderd: 13 PC (instead of XY)
Does anyone have an idea how this problem can be solved?
    Thanks!
    Best regards
    Martin

You can attend this issue by activating batch classification. Extend the classifcation view and maintain batch classification for the Unit of measurement of the material.

  • Units of measure

We're connecting our SRM system to another R/3 backend system. When looking at the units of measure in this backend system, I see table T006A listing the measurements in 3 languages (German, English & French), but not all measurements can be found in all three languages. Some do exist in all 3 languages but not all of them. As we try to synch these with SRM, I need to know if...
    1. Do we have to have the measurements in all 3 languages in R/3 as well as in SRM in order for it to work?
    2. Of the Commercial & Technical names, which one is displayed by SRM during the SC creation? I assume it's the Commercial but not sure.
My concern is that when a German or French user logs in to shop, s/he may not recognize the measurement abbreviation and will need to assistance in looking up what the abbreviation stands for. So to be able to describe what the code stands for, do we have to create them in 3 different languages?
    Regards,
    SN

    Hi
    <b>Please go through this -></b>
    1. Yes. Correct. using Tcode- CUNI.
    2. Commercial name
UOM are stored in an internal format. At the display time, this format is converted to language dependant commercial format. If not possible *** is displayed.
Check table T006A to see maintained entries for internal unit (say PAK, etc..).
Use transaction CUNI to complete it for all langauages, English (EN), French (FR), German (DE), etc...
Your Unit of Measurement don't have description in required langauge (German, Spanish)  language.
Log on to SRM and backend system in (German, French, Spanish) languages and run transaction CUNI.
Find the correpsonding Unit (say ZTO) and fill ISO Code text and Measurement unit text.
Also, Try to keep measurement unit <-> ISO code assignments unique.
Please confirm that ISO codes and especially UOM configuration have been correctly maintained in english in SRM as well as in R/3 (transaction CUNI)
You can simply maintain the same UOMs by configuring them in transaction CUNI. Additionally you can do a remote compare/adjust to synch the data in the systems if you have a large volume of changes.
You just need to make sure that the units of measure in the SAP
Enterprise Buyer system correspond to those in the backend system.

  • Unit of measure 309

    Hi,
    I have the following issue.
1.one material A is procure with UoM KG after the GR.
2.same material A require  material to material transfer posting (MB1B 309 )to convert as material B having with UoM KIA which is selling unit of measure.
but in SAP standard system it is not possible to have different  UoM.for  MB1B 309.
How this can be done in SAP?
    Regards,
    Chetan.

    Hi Csaba,
Thanks for you help, what would be the implications of doing that change on the following circumstances:
I have wire that after a production process end as a mesh. I want to enter in sap this transfer but since wire its in kg and mesh in rol, I can not do it (unless I create a new article for the mesh with unit of measure as kilos)
If I use movement 201 instead of 309 would it be accounting implications? also do you think its practical or since its a 2 step process can be more data input errors?
    Best Regards and Merry Christmas,
    Carlos

  • Weight unit on order confirmation

    Dear all,
We created a sales order with materials for which the MM weight unit was in KG. We added them in the sales order with weight unit LB and also changed the weight. The gross weight for the sales order at header level is now displayed in LB but when we look at the print preview for the order confirmation the gross weight is mentioned in KG. I changed all material masters but still it displays in KG.
Any ideas/suggestiosn on what to do?
    Br,
    Michaë

    HI Michaël,
Please go to the  sales order item level change the  net weight and gross weight unit into LB.

  • Risk in populating Unit of measure for commodity code (foreign trade) in ECC

We have recently implemeted product classification in GTS for the EU and US.  We want to implement the transfer of tariff data from GTS to ECC via the standard GTS transactions /SAPSLL/SWN_RTR and /SAPSLL/SWN_RTR_R3.
Our compliance team is concerned about beginning to populate the unit of measure commodity code in ECC.  I know this field is only visible when a supplementary unit is on the tariff number and is different than the base unit of measure on the material master.  These additional units of measure must be configured in order for the XML tariff files to load properly.
One concern that has come up is the conversion of the base UoM to the new unit of measure from the tariff files.  Are there other issues/risks I need to be aware of?  My understanding is this unit is used only when reporting the products to the customs authorities.
I appreciate any guidance you can give me.

    Hello Alison,
We implemented this, however, made an enhancement not to transfer the UOM to ECC. Our consultants are unable to clearly articulate the use of UOM in classification. I still have not have a complete grasp of UOM with classification. One thing we constantly run into, is job fails when external/internal UOM is not maintained during transfer of classification from GTS to ECC. Since we are not transferring UOM to ECC, we are now considering enhancement, so we do not have to maintain internal/external UOM from the files we receive from Customs Info. We have had a number of issues trying to figure out what to maintain as internal UOM for UOM sent by Customs Info. There is no ISO code to cross reference and makes it very difficult to figure this out.
Another thing that you need to be aware off - if you have products that is not classified in GTS and you have classification maintained in ECC, you can overwrite ECC values with blanks- the product master change/update date (for anything - not just classification) is picked up by the re-transfer job. We are currently making enhancements in the commodity code retransfer program, only to transfer when there is a value in GTS for classification.
I see Dave's message above " UoM is necessary for the calculation that supports your sourcing decisions as well as for your declarations to the authorities". I am really interested to understand the function of UOM in classification.

    Padma

  • Net weight in unit of measure (MM03)

    Hi,
I have to extract all the units of measure for an article and i was wondering where does this field (Net weight) come from.
    I think it's calculated but how ?
Allready have some other fields from MARM and find the net weight in mara but as i have many lines of untis of measure, the mara net weight does not apply to all.
    Thanks

Thank you again for your time.
I'm trying to extract all datas from that screen so the access to the screen is MM03 or MM02 (i checked and they both have same datas) if that was your concern.
I see those two fields (Number of Lower-Level Units of Measure (SMEINH-AZSUB) and Lower-Level Unit of Measure in a Packing Hierarchy (SMEINH-MESUB), at the end of both records under Number and LUn as you can see in that screen copy
    http://img354.imageshack.us/img354/3219/sanstitredx2.jpg
i found a fm (BAPI_MATERIAL_GETALL) that returns the weight for every record so the weight is not a problem anymore for my report. Even if i don't understand why i can change some lines and can not others.
But i really can't find those two last column

  • Increase decimal places in Gross Unit of Measure

    Hello Everyone,
I had an issue regarding Decimal places for a specific Unit of measure.
My Base unit of measure is maintained in Ea. For this the material is maintained with a gross maintained in Kg's. Now to record 2.5 grams i have to menition .0025 Kg but system does not accept up to 4 decimal places. system only accepts up to 3 decimal places. Even increasing the decimal places in CUNI does not make the system to accept 4 Decimal places.
So what is the solution to this.
    Any help is highly appreciated.
    Sincerely,
    Aji

    HI
I dont think that we can increase the length of the decimal places filed in all cases. Refer note 95869.

  • Multiple Unit of Measure in SAP BO

We have a requirement to use multiple unit of measures from one of our client whose business concern is manufacturing and tenneries.
We want to measure inventory in units and in meters at same time. For example, if one new unit measuring 50 metres is received in warehouse then it should be measured in units as well as in metres. If the last quantity in warehouse was 50 pcs with 600 metres then after the one unit addition it should update the inventory to 51 pcs with 650 metres.
Is there a solution or way we can use SAP BO with multiple UOM.

    Hi,
In B1 8.8, you can use multiple unit of measure but it will be displayed in the sales marketing document and purchase document.
The stock UOM can't be managed by multiple UOM.
When you see field UOM in the item master data --> inventory tab, you can only enter one UOM there.
In the document level, you can maintain multiple UOM for the item or inventory. If you have defined the conversion of the UOM, it will be automatically calculated.

  • Dual Unit of Measure and valuation problem in SAP for Diamond module

    1. Handling of Dual Unit of Measure. In case if you take Diamond Jewellery, which is having Gold portion as well Diamond portion, we would like to keep UOM for gold portion as Grams and Carats for Diamond portion. As informed by our implementation team (Wipro), handling dual UOM for the same article seems to be not possible in SAP due to product limitations. As this feature is very basic for jewellery industry, we would like to know how SAP can address this business need in SAP.
    2. We would like to show Gold & Diamond separately in Valuation for the same article, which is again seems to be product limitation.
As the above 2 issues are fundamental elements in our business, please look into the above issues and give us some solution immediately.

    Mr.Rao,
Although I do not much about your business needs and the processes that you are configuring, this is what I understand from your explanations:
    1. You design and make jewellery out of Gold and Diamonds. Here I believe that the designer would be knowing how much of Gold and Diamond will go into the making of a jewellery.
    2. You would like to valuate the stock based on the gold/diamond gone into each. Each piece of jewellery is unique in itself as its contents may minutely vary for the gold content.
In such a situation, I would suggest considering configuring Variant Configuration. With this, you will be able to maintain different values of diamond/gold for each piece of jewellery at the time of Sales Order/Production Order/Prod.Order confirmation etc. Your manufacturing cost will be at actuals based on the consumption posted during the Prod.Order confirmation. Each piece of jewellery will be unique with few Material Masters.
    Hope this helps.

  • Manual Gross Weight from Handling Unit to Outbound Delviery

    Hi Friends,
I have a question related to gross weight replication from HU to outbound delivery document.  During delivery process, for packing, system calculates the gross weight on the basis of weight from the material master however the weight is not accuare and for that we modify the value with the actual gross weight of the physical packing.  Now when return to the outbound delivery screen, system is not replicating the updated weight entered in HU and showing as blank value.
Please help, is this standard behaviour or how to correct the problem...we are using ECC5.0
    Appreciate your support.
    Best Regards,
    Goutham

    Hi Gaoutham,
This issue is related to suspicious development in user exit. I faced the same issue in an earlier project, where the HU weight is not changed manually when u go back to delivery screen. Finally developer had found the some Z table where it was mentioned like if sales organsation so and so... then it should not allow to change the weight manually and the remark was maintained as "X" in front of particular field.
    Please try this and confirm.
    Thanks & Regards,
