Grounding question using a PXI-6225 and an SCB-68 TB.

Hi all!
I'm using the configuration in the title of this post to apply signals to a test setup. The SCB-connections have an analog ground that is placed next to each of the analog outputs (i.e. AOGND, AO0, AOGND, AO1...A0GND, AO7, AOGND). I have connected an analog ground (SCB-68 pin 31) and a digital ground (SCB-68 pin 12) to the negative side of my power supply. I belive this will give me a good ground reference for all the cards as I have my other cards grounds tied to this ground as well.
I'm just curious as to why they have so many grounds for the analog signals. I can only assume that it is for EMI or susceptibility. Are those grounds there to help keep the actual waveforms shielded? If I just use the two grounds mentioned I should have a good enough reference, right? I just don't want to mess up another card because I originally set this up and was driving signals with it, but didn't have any of the grounds hooked up to the 6713 card. It worked for some time until the conditions were right and then I had some offset that occurred, which burned up my card.
Any information is appreciated as to the use/need for all these grounds!

First of all, be sure that you are using the correct pins for each of the analog output channels of the PXI-6225. The PXI-6225 only has 2 analog outputs, and the SCB-68 is a generic connector block for 68-pin cables. I have attached the pinout for the PXI-6225 for your reference when hooking up these grounds.
After you are sure you are using the correct ground pins on the SCB-68, the grounds should be fine with that speed of signal. However, I would recommend using the individual grounds for the AO channels for continuity.

My name is Gerry and I am new to the forum. My problem is as follows: I have my Sony player connected via USB2 to my workstation. I am using widows xp sp3 and the device is properly recognized. When I choose capture in Premiere I recieve a message stating that the device is off-line. I power it on and off, but I am not able to see footage in the capture window. My settings are as follows:
Capture settings = Capture Format : HDV
DV/HDV Device Control
Video Standard: NTSC
Device Brand: Sony
Device Type: GV-D300 * I do not see my device type listed in the drop down list
Timecode Format: Auto Detect
Check Status: Offline
The only options I have tried changing is the Device type, also changing the device control from Serial device control to DV/HDV Device Control.
Any direction in this matter will be appreciated.

The Sony HDV700 will work with CS3 via firewire. Settings on the deck and in CS3 are important.
The HDV700 is too new to have its own settings. Select "Generic Sony," that works for me.
DO NOT set the HDV700 format to AUTO--set it manually to either DV or HDV depending on the tape format. Note also, that its often necessary to turn off the deck and turn it back on before the change is recognized by the PC.
You DO NOT selct serial control--you select Firewire or IEEE (I forget what the option is labeled.
Use the pre-assigned option in setting the sequence parameters (yeah, I know, you're capturing to the project window not the timeline, but this is where CS3 gets the capture settings.)

Yes, you can use an express to create a network for presentations, your main concern would be configuring it, which you would need to connect it to a computer to do.

Here's A Question Using A Priority Queue and a DLL

Ifm trying to make a method that compares two objects that go into a DLL using a priority Queue. SO in other words lets say i have "5" go ino the DLL and then i have "2" that goes in i need to swap the 2 and the 5. And this goes on for any other objects inserted

Um, well im using the adapter class, List. so ive gone a bit further, but im not sure on what to do.....

Video Rendering Question using Premiere Elements 11 and/or Adobe Premiere

The video Rendering /encoding process can take hours even on an I5 processor.
It seems like this has to be done, redone and done again during the editing process.
If I purchase a camera which supports AVCHD 2.0 - does that mean that the encoding process altogether goes away, so that content is able to be transfered natively to the end media and so that I reduce my burn time to a BluRay Disc, using for example, Adobe Premiere Elements 11 or Full Fledged Adobe Premiere, or Sony's Vegas ?

AVCHD 2.0 only means that the camera can also record 1080p/60, which was previously not part of the AVCHD specification and still is not part of the Blu-ray spec. It's most useful for smooth slow motion effects.
Anything you add to Premiere Pro will need to be transcoded for Blu-ray, no way around that.

Why does it take so long to clear a task (with DMA transfer) using the PXI bus?

I am migrating a system which used to use a PCI-6133 (8 channel simultaneous AI) and PCI-6733 (8 channel AO) to one that uses a PXI-6133 and PXI-6733 mounted in a PXI-1033 chassis.
In general, things seem to work (synchronized AI/AO running near the maximum rate on both devices), with the one exception that clearing an AO task on the PXI-6733 takes forever (on the order of 20-30 seconds).
Even when I try the sinewave generation for the PXI-6733 in the MAX test panel it takes the same amount of time to stop the task. If I switch to using interrupts as the transfer mechanism, it stops immediately.
I tried using the interrupt transfer mechanism on my more demanding set of synchronized tasks, but that does not produce the right behavior (even though it does not give any errors).
Is there any trick (or better diagnostic) to help get my tasks working with DMA under PXI that used to work fine on PCI?

Hi Patrick,
I'm using a PCIe-8361 controller. The computer is a Dell T5500 workstation running Windows 7 x64. I see the problem every single time I try to clear a task running on the PXI-6733, including my example using the Measurement & Automation test panel (from the very first time I try the Sinewave Generation onward). I can try other parameters in the test panel, but I don't need to adjust anything from the defaults (e.g., Rate = 1000) to get the behavior. I will also try installing the PXI chassis in a few other computers we have here just to confirm that it's not computer specific. From your line of questions I can at least gather that there's nothing obvious (like a known bug with the PXI-6733) and that I should expect this configuration to work.

When I setup my new MacBook Pro, something slipped by me and my computer was named First-Lasts-MacBook-Pro (using my real first and last name).
I changed the computer name in Preferences/Sharing to a new name and Preferences/Accounts to just be Mike. I can right click on my account name, choose advanced, and see that everything looks right.
However, If I do a scan of my network with my iPhone using the free version of IP Scanner, it lists my computer as First-Lasts-MacBook-Pro! And it lists the user as First-Last.
So even though another Mac just sees my new computer name, and my home folder is Mike, somewhere in the system the original setup with my full name is still stored. And it's available on a network scan. So my full name might show up at a coffee shop.
Can I fully change the name without doing a complete re-install of Lion and all my apps?

One thought... you said the iPhone displayed your computer's old name? I think that you must have used the iPhone with this computer before you changed the name. So no one else's iPhone should display your full name unless that iPhone had previously connected to your Mac. For example, I did this exact same change, and I use the Keynote Remote app to connect with my MacBook Pro. It would no longer link with my MacBook Pro under the old name, and I found that I had to unlink and then create a new link under the new name. So the answer to your question is, there is nothing you need to do on the Mac, but rather the phone, and no other phone will display your full name.

How to acquire data through multiple channels in parallel using PXI 6070 E, PXI 4071 and LabVIEW?

Hi,
I am using NI LabVIEW, NI PXI 4071, and NI PXI 6070E to measure current through a variable resistance. Now, I am using one channel from SCB-68, but I want to add another channel in parallel so that I can have two resistors instead of one that I cam measure current through them.
I have attached a Pdf file showing the setup for hardware in use and LabVIEW code also.
Can anyone look at these files and give me guide lines or ideas that can help me resolving this issue, please.

Your 4071 can only do one measurement at a time. Your DAQ cannot measure resistance either nor has it got any analogue inputs.
However, you could use a multiplexer and multiplex your 4071 DMM. This wont give you simultaneous measurements but can acquire data one after the other, the speed is obviously dependent on the multiplexer you choose!

Are you running a Managed or a Referenced Library?
A Managed Library, is the default setting, and iPhoto copies files into the iPhoto Library when Importing. The files are then stored in the Library package
A Referenced Library is when iPhoto is NOT copying the files into the iPhoto Library when importing because you made a change at iPhoto -> Preferences -> Advanced. (You unchecked the option to copy files into the Library on import) The files are then stored where ever you put them and not in the Library package. In this scenario you are responsible for the File Management.
Assuming a Managed Library:
Make sure the drive is formatted Mac OS Extended (Journaled)
1. Quit iPhoto
2. Copy the iPhoto Library from your Pictures Folder to the External Disk.
3. Hold down the option (or alt) key while launching iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Choose Library' and navigate to the new location. From that point on this will be the default location of your library.
4. Test the library and when you're sure all is well, trash the one on your internal HD to free up space.

I have an existing Endeca pipeline implementation where we read the data sets (Product Catalog Information) from Oracle database using JDBC adapters. The data set undergoes a series of manipulation until it gets indexed to the Endeca system. We make use of PCI for dimensions and dimension values. However, we now want to extend PCI to also include the Product catalog information. The current implementation also does not make use of CAS adapters to consume the dimensions data in PCI. The next consideration is to implement PCI as close to Out of the Box provisions and standardize it. Therefore we are also considering to implement CAS.
The questions are as below:
1. What are the ideal parameters that should support the use of PCI implementation (Dataset + dimension + precedence Rules + schema information) ? Note: We DO NOT have any product catalog system (like ATG) between database and Endeca.
2. Considering that we do not have any product catalog system to organize and maintain data, how feasible is it to read directly from database through CAS Adapters and process the data ?
3. We also plan to introduce partial update pipeline in future releases. Keeping that in mind should CAS based approach help us to read from a record store at the time of partial updates ?
4.in case we are limiting to a business case of implementing partial updates in the above explained existing design, should a custom CAS approach be a better design ? Custom CAS approach = writing the baseline output data to record store and later referring it at the time of partial updates.
5. Will CAS based approach help to reduce the baseline timings ?
6. What is the best way to export data to record store instance in the above design ? (Record store API / Command line utility / CAS crawl)

Hi Neeraj,
You cam use both PI SLD and Solman Local SLD for LMDB synchronization. Now here you make to make sure that correct ranks are assigned to PI and Solman SLD. With the help of multiple sld, you can remove the cause of concern. Local SLD should always be of solman.
For CR content. that you can do for solution manager system in a click.

If I configure layer 3 sticky and specify the inactivity timeout as below, how does the CSS
handle subsequent needed sticky requests ?

My question is what is the next reaction by doing the CSS if the CSS is in the
following condition:

Does CSS just rejects/drops subsequent needed sticky requests ?
or
Does CSS does not stick subsequence requests to particular service but CSS forward
subsequence requests with round-robin basis ? which means if the sticky table is full,
the CSS just works round-robin load balancing fashion for subsequence requests ?

It depends if the sticky-inact-timeout is used or not. If not, it's FIFO (the oldest entry in the sticky table is removed). If yes, the CSS will reject the next sticky request.

It's normal for the iPad or any similar device to get warm when it's under heavy load. If it gets too warm, it will shut itself off and show a disabled message.

If you believe it's hotter than normal, make a reservation with a Genius.

Syncing question using PC and Outlook

Didn't get a response to my first question, so thought I'd try again. I have a Toshiba laptop using Vista Professional and Microsoft Office with Outlook. In both my iPhone calendar and my Outlook calendar I always delete or move any events so that all calendar days are empty prior to todays date. When I sync, everything syncs fine to Outlook, but in my iPhone, every item that is recurring repopulates the dates prior to today. Anyone have any ideas as to why this happens or what I could do about it? Or do you know another site I could ask this question of? Thanks, Gail

Since you're experiencing so many issues, try disk cleanup for Windows and see if that makes a difference. You may have a corrupted file somewhere.
