Group audio files in BIN

WHen I grouping some files in audio bin LP8 sometimes change file location.
for exmpl: if location is macintosh hd/superproject/audio files
when I group tracks to group 1 location now is macintosh hd/superproject/audio files/1
And logic can't find this files whenm i reload song.
Can I turn off this?

Hi Sergey.
I think the whole bin stuff is very buggy so far. The problem you mentioned ist "sometimes" change file location. If you make a group with audio files in the bin window Logic should always copy them into a new folder on the harddrive. They are moved by saving the song (before that they are only shown in the bin window as a group). After that Logic should find them. But sometimes it is not saved in the finder into the right folder, sometimes they are even in the bin window throwed back into the normal audio-folder.
So - I hope Logic is gonna have a update on this soon!

  • Creating separate audio files in bin

I want to extract certain audio portions of my video clips and create separate, audio-only subclips.  What's the best way to do this?

There are a number of ways.
One simple method would be to put the clip in the timeline, deselect "Linked Selection", edit the audio section and drag it back into the Browser.

  • Working with Groups, Region Data Somehow Misaligned Locations in Audio Files.. How to Realign?

    Hello All,
I'm a nonexpert, so please excuse in advance any lack of knowledge that I probably should have. I've been heavily editing a recording of several days of jams for a long time, basically by cutting and aligning very disparate parts to form something new. I had been working with my drummer's audio tracks in group, so each would be aligned as I cut, pasted and stretched regions. Now to my dismay, the all of the kick drum regions have become unaligned with the other drum tracks. This isn't something I can simply nudge, because it has shifted the location of the audio data of all of the kickdrum regions back 5 or 6 seconds. Therefore, the proper start of the region is not even loaded. If you look at the screenshot below, there are two audio files, one drum overhead (0022 AIRE 2) and the kickdrum (0023 BOMBO). The regions 0022 AIRE 2.89, 107, 108, etc. should correspond in sample location with 0023 BOMBO.89, 107, 108, etc. But, as you can see, the BOMBO samples have been shifted leftwards, all of them.  All of the other drum tracks have the correct alignment for each region.  My question is: Is there a way I can copy the region mapping information between 0022 AIRE 2 and 0023 BOMBO? Or are there any other ways to tell 0023 BOMBO regions 89, 107, etc. to pull audio data from the same location as 0022 AIRE 89, 107, etc.? I really hope so, because if not I'm helpless. Thanks to anyone and all who might have some advice. JS

Jeez, now it has happened to my other tracks as well.. If someone could please help, I would be grateful. Put too much work into it to have this ruin everything.. Here is another picture, how can I get these samples to realign? Remember, they are supposed to be part of a group and thus aligned. For some reason, the samples for the track 040 BOMBO have been all shifted leftwards in time from where they take the sample from the audio track. How can I fix this? Thank you anyone who can help..

  • How do I apply an audio file to a group of slides?

I am putting a keynote presentation together for an award show.  I have a voice overs (VO) audio file for each nominee.  Each nominee has 5 slides so I need to apply the VO file to those 5 slides.  Then, I need to apply a separte VO audio file to the next 5 slides and so on.  Is this possible?  If so, how do I do this?

You need to break up your presentation into one presentation per nominee with a hyperlink to the next presentation set on the last slide. This will allow you to insert the audio voice over into the presentation to play across the multiple slides for the nominee. Place the audio using the Keynote Inspector > Presentation > Audio and drag the voice over file into the soundtrack well.
To set the hyperlink, you need to place an object on the last slide of each nominee set that when clicked will hyperlink to the next Keynote file. With the object selected use the Keynote Inspector > Hyperlink > Enable As A Hyperlink (ON) > Link To: Keynote Slideshow (in pull down menu) > navigate to the next file and select it.
Note: All Keynote presentation files should be opened prior to starting the overall presentation so that they start when the link is clicked, otherwise you will see an attempt to open a file, but the show will stall.
The object can be "invisible" with no fill and no stroke, but it can be a hard target to find on the fly. I would suggest placing it over a logo or other repeating graphic element.

  • Re-naming audio files in the bin

I saw another post where a guy said you couldn't re-name audio files.
I had to try it. He was partially right. it seems like you can't just double click and re-name the files.
You can do it, it's just really tricky.
I had the best result when I gave the file one long click then I was able to re-name it.
It's still buggy, but it can be done. That needs to be fixed. I rename audio files allot.

I can do it here by normal double clicking, so it's definetly not a Logic 8 Bug.

  • My Iphone won't sync my CD audio files, after having them on my Iphone for years I updated the other day and they all dissapeared, all that's left is songs bought from Itunes.

I've had an Iphone 4 and I have been listening to hundreds of songs no problem for the past year and a half I've owned it. The other day I decided to sync my Iphone to my laptop to get two songs from a CD. After doing this process and approaching it like I usually would (without causing any problems) I checked my Iphone to see if the two songs had downloaded after the sync. I discovered that my Iphone had lost every audio file that was not bought from the Itunes store leaving me with a sliver of songs to listen to. I immediatly checked my laptop (a Windows device) to see if my music was still there, thankfully it's all on my laptop and the songs play without a problem. So I attempted to sync the songs to my iphone several times, but the CD songs would simply not sync (When syncing your Iphone it consists of 5 steps, the progress bar skips steps 3-4, those are the steps when your music syncs). I'm not an idiot, I checked the small details (checking all albums and songs I wanted and checking the 'entire music library' option) as well I checked the big details (making sure my phone and Itunes were up to date, changing the USB to Iphone wire with another just like it). After a couple of hours of tinkering with different ways to sync I was stumped so I decided to restore my Iphone to factory settings. After doing that and setting up my Iphone newly I still could not download those CD files from Itunes to my Iphone. I called apple support and they recommended that I uninstall Itunes and re-install it. Again no success, all my music is still on my laptop working fine, but I can't seem to sync my CD songs from itunes to my Iphone. If anybody has any info please help. -A college student who needs something to listen to everyday on the hour long bus

Amazing steps you've done so far! The great news is this is very unlikely an issue with your iPhone.
I've run into a similar issue lately as well. I narrowed it down to one song that was causing 30 songs not to sync. I removed the song from the sync list (unchecked it) and all 29 songs were able to sync.
You may be running into a similar issue. This may be a problem with this version of iTunes, an issue with one song or a group of songs; hard to know for sure. It's important to narrow down and isolate the cause. Most imporantly get that music back on there!
The way to narrow down the casue add just a few songs at a time (even 1, just to get that first sync finished). Manually syncing is what you'll need here.
Plug in your iPhone, on the Summary screen (shows a picture of your iPhone, the iOS version, Restore iPhone....; etc). Under the Options area at the bottom choose to Manually Manage Videos and Music then choose Apply in the lower right. The music that's on your iPhone now should be removed from your iPhone now. You're now able to sync music manually.
The link below explains how to drag the songs from the iTunes library on the computer on to your iPhone which will start the sync. Add just one song just to see if you can get 1 of those hundreds of songs on there. If you can, awesome! Keep adding until you find the song or group of songs that are causing this issue.

Please let me know how things are going.

  • Can i convert AIFF audio file into an MP3 file please?

Can i convert AIFF audio file into an MP3 file please? I will be doing this on an imac 2008 model. thank you for help!

Since this is the Logic forum and you may be working in Logic, you dont even need iTunes. To convert Aiff to MP3:
    1 - Go to the Bin>Audio Files
2 - Select the Audio File you want to convert ( and not a region or edit of it)
3 - Go to Audio File next to the Link icon ( Audio - Edit - View ) and down the menu to Copy/Convert.. gives lots of options

  • Importing HDV files (.m2t) no audio in timeline (or sound gaps in audio file) ONLY IN CS6 !

After importing HDV files, wait for conforming, and drop the files to sequence, on some files there is no audio at all or partial audio.
All files played OK in any mediaplayer.
I have no such problems in CS5 or 5.5 using the same files in the same project and sequence type. HDV 1080i/25
I reinstall PR CS6 and I delete all ".cfa" and ".pek" files, but no success.

All right so what I just discover so far in order to resolve this non sense bug thing, I've exported the faulted sequence in EDL, track by track.
On the original sequence, I had a Prores 422 video clip name "Clip 497" that was manually sync with an audio file call "Audio 10".
At another timecode in the original timeline, I had a h264 clip name "MVI_0050" that was synced with an audio file call "Tascam_0455".
I said that when I select only an audio file in the timeline and I make reveal in the project, it links me to the correct audio file in the bin but when I make match frame or reveal in the finder, it links the audio to a video file. The
Well the EDL just confirmed that, in the timeline created by the EDL, I have to relink manually all the files (wich is a pain in...) and my mysterious audio file "Audio 10" appears with the name "MVI_0050", I can still link it to the original "Audio 10" but I don't understand HOW an audio get to be linked to a video file......
The audio file coming from the Tascam still have their original names in the timeline.
Very weird and not very cool.
Oh  and guess what, after closing Premiere and re open it, my sequence coming from the EDL where I spent 1 hours to manually relink the media....does not have sound anymore.......................

  • Slideshow, how to make clip the same length as audio file?

    Hi
I've got several PowerPoint presentations and need to make an MP4 video file for each of them. I know how to export the slides as still images, and I also have the audio files broken up into individual mp3 files that match each slide.
I'm trying to figure out the most efficient way of getting the slides and audio files synced in Premiere Elements.
Yesterday I imported all of the png images and mp3 audio files into my project. But I had to individually add each image, followed by the mp3, and then in the timeline manually stretch the image to make it last the same length of time as the audio file. It was rather tedious and I have a lot of presentations with many slides to work with. I'm sure there must be some better way to make all of this happen, right?
Can anyone help me out here?
    1. Is there a way to make the image clip match the time of the audio clip?
    2. Is there a way to import all of the audio and image files at once (given they have the same names) and have PE automatically associate the image clip with the audio file?
    Thanks, Derek

    1. You can place the audio file in the Audio 1 track of the timeline first (Timeline, not sceneline)
    2. Next drop the image to where the audio file starts. Now press "\" key
    3. Drag the end of the clip to exactly where the audio ends. Whe you are near the end of the audio with the drag it should simply stick to it.
    4. Group the audio and image file together (Right click and select group after selecting both these together)
    5. Select the clip and do a right click and use the Fade-In and out option. You can fade in the video and let the audio simply continue. This makes it look and sound good.
    6. Place the next audio file and go on doing the same till all of them are done. The grouping step is not needed but when you keep working with PRE, you might just thank me for it!
I tried all these steps just as I was typing this post, so I can tell you for sure that PrE10 works as if it is designed JUST for this use case. So hoping you get to complete the project on time and with good quality!

  • File Not Found bug with long audio file names?

    Hello -
Crazy problem. I'll probably post way too much information, but I want to make sure I cover everything. Help!
We run Logic Studio/Logic 8 on multiple 10.4.10/11 computers - G5 Power PC, new intel iMac, intel mini, G4 laptops. We are working on an audio post job using very messy OMFs that were prepared in Final Cut. We had problems opening them in Logic, so we opened the OMFs in Soundtrack Pro, exported to AAFs, and opened those in Logic.
The sessions look fine in Logic now (all files relinked), and the session is consolidated - ie, all files are local/in the project folder's Audio Files folder. I see this in the Audio Bin and can confirm in the finder.
Here's the problem. With the sessions closed:
    (A) I renamed the project folder by adding an asterix to the front of the folder name, and changed the color label of the folder in the finder in order to mark it as the original folder.
    (B) I made a copy of the whole folder (session files & audio files) in order to have something to work from and not mess up the original. When I opened up the session in the new folder, it immediately said audio file not found, do you want to search, locate, or skip. It couldn't find the file in a search, and obviously when you skip, then skip, then skip all, it opens the session with the data (regions are there but grayed) - so all the audio files are orphaned.
So when I try to locate the file, here's what happens. . . The audio file names are really horrendously long (must be some artifact of working in Final Cut). We're talking: "1087-001A SERG AIRPORT WAITING * 1-1channel_00044D02AA9- 363A-4CC5-A86B-0741023DB062.aif" - one bazillion characters.
So the audio file locate dialog box truncates the name of the file that's missing by using the first 20 characters or so, and then a "#" character, and then some random string of 3-6 characters that is not at all related to the file name. So who knows which of the 4-30 SERG AIRPORT files is supposed to go there!
Obviously if this were a 2 minute session file of 10 files or something, we could figure it out and relink everything, but we're talking about a feature-length session with a bazillion files.
    (C) Okay, so I tried to open the original session, in the folder that I had renamed by prefacing the original name with an * and changing the color of the folder. But I started to get the file not found errors. OH GEEZ. So I didn't save. I re-renamed the folder by taking out the * and changing the color label back. Then I tried to open the session again, but I still kept getting the file not found problem.
I have to stress that I didn't move any of the audio files, or change ANYTHING in the session.
So I thought - is all of this because I tried to open a new instance of the session, in a new instance of the folder? Is it because I renamed the folders? Normally you can rename folders, even session names, no problems, and Logic corrects the paths to the audio files!
    (D) So, crap. I reopened the original AAF file in logic and saved it in a new place. I closed the file, reopened it, closed, reopened, just to make sure everything was working! I checked the location of the files in the audio bin, and everything was great.
    (E) So now I copied the folders to an external hard drive to be able to work on another computer. But when I tried to open the sessions on a new computer. . . You guessed it, nada.
So. . . the questions are:
    (1) Those original sessions that now will not work - is there anything I can do to recover their functionality? We had work in there that I would prefer not to lose. . .
    (2) Is this a known bug having to do with the length of the Audio File names?
    (3) How do we get over this? My only idea so far is we could select all in a working logic session and say "Audio Tracks names to regions" or something and will that change the actual file names on teh computer? Then hopefully things would work on mulitple systems. . .
    Okay. HELP! Thanks!
    Polly

    OK I got it.
It is necessary to use prefix "file:///" before file name.
    Thanx everyway.

  • How do I fuse audio files together?

Hey, I'm finishing up the editing for my full-length horror feature, and currently I'm putting in the sound effects and I was trying to figure out how can I fuse audio files together?
Here's the thing, my video files are files I converted into AVIs from VOBs, only problem is that the audio disappeared from them, but my friend tried to load all my VOBs into AVIs for me since I did something wrong but when he converted them the video was gone but the audio was there...so I figured I'd just take the audio and put it in place.
Right now I have to put in a sound effect of the guy screaming while gory sounds are playing in the background, then after that I have a chainsaw scene where a woman screams, a chainsaw blases, a mechanical laughter is heard, and gory sounds are playing all together.
If you could help me figure out how to get the files to fuse together to play the sounds all together, knowing I have to change the volume for each one, that would be very much appreciated. Thanks!
    -Toby

Ah, those scroll bars. They don't stand out, as much, as I would like. I always overlook the ones in the Share Panel, though I have used them many times.
Unfortunately, PrE has chosen an arrangement, where Audio & Video Tracks are grouped. I like the PrPro layout, where all Video Tracks are above a "centerline" and all Audio Tracks are below that.
About the closest that one can come in PrE is to use Delete Unused Tracks, to remove empty Video Tracks, or to View Video Tracks (alone), or View Audio Tracks (alone). With a combo of those, one can customize the Timeline a bit.
When cleaned up, one can then Add Tracks, for any additional Audio Tracks necessary.
If one did ONLY the View Audio, they loose the ability to refer to the Video Track, and with SFX, that is necessary, at least for me.
I like to keep each type of Audio on its own Track. That makes actions, like applying Track Keyframes, or adjustments to JUST that Clip, or Clip type. If I have SFX, music, camera Audio, and other Audio sources, I will put many SFX on their own Audio Track, the camera Audio on another, and then the music one one, or more additional Audio Tracks. Not too long ago, I had one Project with about 10 separate SFX Audio Tracks, one for a "loon," one for "crickets," three for "frogs," one for "pond ambiance," and then two for music (as I was doing faux DD 5.1 SS in PrPro), with one from Music F (front) and Music R (rear).
    Good luck, and happy editing,
    Hunt

  • Force pointer to a different audio file

I often use the function to open a file in an external sample editor (usually izotope) while a Logic song is open. But the following applies even when not using this particular command. That particular command is handy in the sense that Logic keeps refreshing the updated file as it's being edited, but what I really want to do is create a new file so the original stays intact as a backup.
I'd like to have a command to force Logic to point to this renamed, edited sound file instead of the original--without having to close and reopen the song.
This would operate much in the same way as when one is prompted by Logic when it is unable to find a sound file upon opening a song. You get the can't-find-a-file dialogue with option to either search, or to manually point to the file. I just want to be able to force this on command while the song is open, as an audio bin command (not just when opening a song and Logic is unable to find a file)
Currently, the way I deal with it is
    -close the Logic song
-rename the original audio file temporarily, e.g., put a ~ in front of the file name.
-use the "find manually" option when Logic says to find the file it can no longer find
-point Logic to the edited and renamed version.
-then once again, rename the original file back to its original name.
    Anyone have a simpler method?

    Thanks Frank!
    Got it. It worked.

  • Logic not opening 64-bit 48khz audio files.

I recently tracked drums at a studio thatuses Cakewalk Sonar 6. The audio files are consolidated (into 16 54 minute strips) and on my hard drive now, but Logic will not open them for some reason. I have my Mac and Logic in 64-bit mode. When I try to import the files, it changes the session to a 48khz session. Anybody have this sort of problem before?

If your files are 24bit / 48khz, (as originally recorded)... all good (you can check in the "Audio Bin" window where this info is displayed). As above, Logic will automatically switch the session to match the file rate, but if it is converting your audio files unintentionally, you need to un-check "Convert audio file rate when importing" (File> Project Settings> Assets> Assets : "Convert audio file rate when importing").
If your files are still not opening, it could be a Sonar export / compression issue - maybe best to check with the studio you tracked at?

  • The audio file is not recognized by Logic. Can't import audio files?

    Hi,
The audio files are on my desktop. Logic 9.1.1 will not recognize them and gives me this message when I try to drag and drop OR Import Audio File OR use Audio Bin.
As far as I know, I am using wave files (extension .wav). So what could be the problem. Here's a picture of how the files look on my desktop.
The regular silver and blue iTunes icons look like this when I Get Info:
The black iTunes icons look like this when I Get Info:
Importantly, the black iTunes (only 2 out of the 18 audio files) are the ones that actually import. Does it have something to do with the fact that it shows under "More Info > Audio Channels 1" vs. the silver and blue iTunes .wav files (which do NOT have this)?
Furthermore, here is the process I used to get the audio files in the first place. On my PC, I exported audio files from my Ableton Live project onto a thumbdrive. I copied the audio files from my thumbdrive to my Mac. Maybe this had something to do with it.
Also, as you can see, under Sharing and Permissions > there is only "read and write" for all names, so it's not a permissions thing.
    Thanks.

    Thanks for your reply.
+Can you play them as Preview (select in Finder, hit spacebar)?+ No. The black iTunes icons play with no sound and the silver and blue iTunes icons do not even come up in Preview at all.
+Will iTunes play them?+ Only the black iTunes files (2 out of the 18). When I click on a silver and blue icon'd file, it will not even open in iTunes.
why on the desktop? it was just a temporary thing. I was not able to pull them into my Audio Bin. I tried what you suggested. I put the files in the Audio Files folder of my project. When I go to open them from within Logic by Import Audio File, they are visible but greyed out. I don't use the desktop except for testing stuff like you do.
+How was the thumb drive formatted? FAT32 or other DOS-format, or Mac OS Extended (HFS)?
+the extension is not where apps look to recognize an audio file format, it is the header data. Some audio programs can read RAW audio files, but more about that after your reply to this one.+ It is formatted MS-DOS (FAT 32).
(*I wrote all this stuff above while I was working and waiting for the PC to write to my thumbdrive again*******finally I got everything to show up.
I loaded the files again from the thumbdrive. This time they were all in the black iTunes format, and I put them directly in the Audio Files folder like you suggested. After some doing everything works fine. Weird.
    Thanks!
