Hello,
I have at table with a date field (dd/mm/yyyy hh)
How do I group by hh ?
I want something like the below:
SELECT TRUNC(DATE_FIELD) COUNT(*)
FROM MYTABLE
GROUP BY TRUNC(DATE_FIELD);
but this will group by dd/mm/yy
I need the same query but group by dd/mm/yyyy hh
Thank you in advance.

Thank you in advance.TRUNC (d) with only 1 argument is the same as
TRUNC (d, 'DD'): it maps all DATEs in the same calendar day to the first DATE in that day.
TRUNC (d, 'HH') maps all DATEs in the same hour to the first DATE in that hour.
SELECT TRUNC (DATE_FIELD, 'HH') AS hr
, COUNT (*) AS cnt
FROM MYTABLE
GROUP BY TRUNC (DATE_FIELD, 'HH')

In the above record I want to see the percenatge of status coulmn being 1 for a given hour.
In other words in the above table
curtime - 7 should give 25%
curtime - 6 should give 0%
curtime - 5 should give 0%
curtime - 4 should give 100%
Currently I am doing two queries
1. grouping by hour for status being 1 and
2. grouping by hour for status being 0
and then calculating the percentage on java level.
I thought it will be lot simpler if it can be done in one shot in sql itself.
Appreciate your help with this.

Hi,
I'm trying to execute a query in which I need to group by the hour portion of the date.
Example:
Date in DB: 09/18/2008 17:30:00, 09/18/2008 17:00:00
I need to group all values for 09/18/2008 17:00:00 to 09/18/2008 17:59:59
Can this be done within SQL? I tried looking into the CONVERT command but I couldn't get it to work. I don't think it converts the date to just the hour and disregards the minute and seconds.
Any help will be much appreciated.
Thanks!SQL related questions are best to be asked at a forum devoted to SQL.
Anyway, I have no idea how to do it with Sybase as I've never used it. With for example MySQL you can just use the [HOUR()|http://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/5.0/en/date-and-time-functions.html] function. E.g.SELECT HOUR(dateTimeOrTimestampColumnName) FROM tableNameHere is a forum devoted to Sybase, you might have more luck over there: [http://www.mydatabasesupport.com/forums/sybase/]. -
Hi,
I have had a query that return the average of a value group by a date by hours. It works fine, but now I want to return the average by 15 minutes, or 2 hours; is it possible?
That is my query, it group by hour:
SELECT TRUNC(COL_DATE, 'HH24'), AVG(COL_VALUE)
FROM MY_TABLE
GROUP BY TRUNC(COL_DATE, 'HH24')
Thanks in advance.
Fernando. You need to know two things. There is a date format mask SSSSS which gives us the number of seconds since midnight. There are 3600 seconds in an hour.
So, to get two hour chunks of a date...
SQL> select trunc(to_number( to_char(sysdate, 'SSSSS'))/7200) from dual
2 /
TRUNC(TO_NUMBER(TO_CHAR(SYSDATE,'SSSSS'))/7200)
6...and to get fifteen minute chunks of a date...
SQL> select trunc(to_number( to_char(sysdate, 'SSSSS'))/900) from dual
2 /
TRUNC(TO_NUMBER(TO_CHAR(SYSDATE,'SSSSS'))/900)

Report grouped by time not grouping by time
Hi All,
I have a report with one grouping level of a Time field and have it set to ascending "for each hour". When I run the report, it doesn't group by time instead it repeats by hour (12 am - 12am and then 12 am - 12 am) as if it's grouping by a date level which I do not have in my report. Previously this report had a date group level but I have removed the date grouping from my report.
Any suggestion why this is happening? I am using CR2008.
Thank you in advance,Are you sure its grouped by hour, go into change group and check, looks like its grouped by AM/PM which is the category next to hour. You might have selected the wrong category by accident.

Group by DateTime + Extended time
I have a date time field interval in my database. The interval is every day at 30 minute intervals. I need to run the report and group 'operating hours' which are 7:00am to 3:00AM the next day. By default, if I group by datetime, the Group footer is ending at the 11:30pm mark, showing the totals and then going to the next page and treating 12:00am-3:00am as a seperate group.
Is it possible to group this so that it shows the operating hours in 1 group? Another key is I need to run the report for multiple date ranges at 1 time.
ThanksTry to group by this formula..this will group the record in the desired time range..then create your group for every 30min

Problems with splitting result into different rows. Group by-issue?
Hi all!
I have a table that looks a bit like this:
Pallet Status Number Time
A MoveIn 48 11:11
A Pick -1 11:11
A Pick -1 11:12
A Pick -1 11:12
A MoveOut 45 11:13
A MoveIn 45 18:20
A Pick -1 18:23
A Pick -1 18:23
A Pick -1 18:23
A Pick -1 18:24
A MoveOut 41 18:25
A MoveIn 41 21:31
A Pick -1 21:55
.....This is logging pallets that is moved to one station and then number of boxes are picked off. (For making it more simple, I only show one pallet in above example.)
I would like to present the result with one row for each time the pallet have been at the station, like:
Pallet Picked Time
A 3 11:11
A 5 18:20
A .... .....This means that the same pallet might be showned on several rows, as it has been to the station several times. I have tried several different "GROUP BY" but I cannot make it work.
For example I have tried to group by hour, but this fails if a pallet is moved twice per hour or if boxes are picket at different hours (eg, first box picked 09:59, last box 10:01)
Does anyone have a suggestion how to solve this?
Thanks in advance and Kind regards / Anders from SwedenHej, Anders,
Can you explain what defines a group?
It looks like you're saying that a group is a sub-set of a pallet. If we arrange all the rows for a pallet in order by time, then a new group will start every time we have a row where status='MoveIn'. That is, a group consists of a row with status='MoveIn', and all the rows immediately following it, in order by time, up to, but not including, the next row with status=-'MoveIn'. Is that right?
If so, you can use the analytic COUNT (or SUM) function to find out how many rows with status='MoveIn' have already occurred, in order by time, like this:
WITH got_grp AS
SELECT pallet, status, time
, COUNT ( CASE
WHEN status = 'MoveIn'
THEN 1
END
) OVER ( PARTITION BY pallet
ORDER BY time
) AS grp
FROM table_x
SELECT pallet
, COUNT ( CASE
WHEN status = 'Pick'
THEN 1
END
) AS picked
, MIN (time) AS start_time
FROM got_grp
GROUP BY pallet
, grp
ORDER BY pallet
, grp
;If you'd care to post CREATE TABLE and INSERT statements for your sample data, then I could test this.
This assumes that the combination (pallet, time) is unique. Your sample data includes:
Pallet Status Number Time
A MoveIn 48 11:11
A Pick -1 11:11I assume that you're just not displaying the full time, and your data is really something like:
Pallet Status Number Time
A MoveIn 48 23-Sep-2011 11:11:01
A Pick -1 23-Sep-2011 11:11:08Otherwise, how do you know if these two rows are in te same group or not? You may need to add a tie-breaker to the analytic ORDER BY clause. For example, if you say "ORDER BY time, *status* ", then, if the two rows above really did have exactly the same time, down to the second, then the one with status='MoveIn' would be considered to be earlier than the row with status='Pick'. -
Public Service Announcement: Group Isolation Mode in CS2
Hi everyone!
Since you'll undoubtedly be playing with AI CS2 sooner rather than later, I wanted to pass on a tip so that you don't pull your hair out.
Illustrator CS2 has a new feature called Group Isolation mode. Here's the concept. You're working with an existing group of objects (maybe a logo, or whatever), and you decide that you need to add another path or shape to the group. How do you do it today? You basically have two choices. Either draw the new shape and use the layers palette to drag the new shape into the exisiting group hierarchy, or draw the new shape, ungroup the existing group, select the objects along with the new shape and group them. Tedious in any case.
With AICS2, with the Selection tool, you can double-click on a group and then the group enters isolation mode. Which means that any shape that you now draw is automatically drawn inside the isolated group. When you're in isolation mode, Illustrator will display a gray box around the bounding area of your group. To exit isolation mode, you can double click on any blank area outside the gray box. Additionally, there are buttons in the Control palette that can take you in and out of isolation mode.
This feature is especially helpful when working with the new live paint feature.
The reason I mention this is because it's easy to double click on a group and you'll see the gray box and freak out and not know what it is.
So now you know.
:) MordyScott,
OK, I see now the relevance of Lock/Hide. It assumes you are using Cut/Select/Paste in Front as your way to get the newly created object into the group, and locking/hiding is ancillary to that, as something one might want to do if there were other things on top of the destination object making it otherwise hard to select.
What this tells me is that you seldom have a desire to draw lots of new objects into a group, so you don't find the two major preexisting methods (Cut/Paste or drag in Layers palette) to be onerous. Most likely if you expect to want to keep drawing into a particular location in the stacking order, you make it be a layer or sublayer instead of a group. But not everyone does so. And something that is easy to do occasionally gets annoying very fast if you are repeating it dozens of times in a row.
Admittedly the main motivation for this feature was the Live Paint groups, to make it so that people could pick up the pencil tool and keep working continuously, drawing and painting, into a Live Paint group, for hours if need be. Since they are groups, not layers (there are architectural reasons why it would be difficult to make them be layers), one can't just set them as the current layer. A "sticky" way of drawing into a non-layer was needed. But it was just as easy to make it work for all groups, so we did so. It may not be used as often for regular groups, but it is still potentially useful. Several other drawing products have the same gesture of double-clicking on a group to "open it up" and make it be the drawing focus. (Although some of them couple this status with making objects outside the open group be unselectable, which AI doesn't do.) -
I have a line chart report where I query over an external data object grouping by a datetime field.
This report has a filter where the user can specify the initial datetime of the query.
Is there any way to configure the report in a way that the server decides the appropriated grouping unit?
For example:
If the user selects a date from one day ago, the report would be grouped by hour. Or if the user selects a date from one hour ago, the report would be grouped by minutes.Anyone?

ASA 5510 with Cisco 2811 Router Behind it - Not forwarding traffic
Hi all,
Some might know that I have been dealing with an issue where I cannot seem to get forwarded packets to reach their destinations behind an ASA 5510 that has a Cisco 2811 connected directly behind it.
Some examples that work.
I can SSH into the ASA.
I can SSH to the Cisco Routers behind the ASA.
I cannot reach items beind the Cisco Routers.
My Configuration is this (I am sure I included a bunch of info I didn't need to, but I am hoping it'll help!):
I have a static Ip assigned to my Ouside Interface Ethernet 0/1
It has an IP address of 199.195.xxx.xxx
I am trying to learn how to shape network traffic (this is all new to me) via the ASA and the Routers to specific devices.
The Inside Interface on the ASA is 10.10.1.1 255.255.255.252
The Outside Interface on the 2811 is 10.10.1.2 255.255.255.252
I can ping the router from the ASA. I can SSH through the ASA to the router.
BUT I CANNOT ACCESS DEVICES BEHIND THE ROUTER.
So, I wanted to BAM that statement above because I just don't kjnow where the issue is. Is the issue on the router or the ASA, my guess is, the router, but I just don't know.
Here are my configs, helpfully someone can help.
ASA errors on the ASDM when I try and hit resources; specifically a web device behind the ASA and the 2811. It's Ip address 192.168.1.5 it's listening on port 80.Static IP, not assigned via DHCP.

no message-leI ran those commands while I had the nat off on the router and here are the results. note, i didn't make any changes to the ASA as you only said to remove the router RIP which I did and reloaded and no change.
As long as the statements ip nat outside on the Fastethernet 0/0 is off and the ip nat inside is off on the vlan and the overload statement is taken out, I cannot hit the internet.

Run a query on linked tables to create a new datasource
Using Crystal XI
I have a report that draws from two data sources. They can't be joined at the server side, but they are linked in Crystal Database Expert.
I can't figure out if Crystal gives me a way to write an SQL Query to run an aggregate function referencing both tables. The results of this query would be the datasource for a graph in the report. I'm wondering if Crystal gives me a way, maybe through subreports, to write the query I need.
More concretely:
And I want to include in my datasource alarmId, Hour and the Maximum amount of calls received in any one hour for any one station (this maximum is to provide scale for a graph)
In one table nameed AlarmStartTimes I have data like
Alarms
AlarmID Hour Recipient
Alarm1 8 Joe
Alarm23 10 Mark
Alarm60 7 Joe
Alarm95 8 Linda
In another I have data like
EELocation
Recipient Location
Joe Station1
Mark Station2
Linda Station1
So if I could just join my talbes at the server side I'd use a query like:
select *, max(select count(AlarmID) from Alarms, EELocation from Alarms Join EELocationo on Alarms.Recipient=EELocation.Recipient group by Hour, Location) AS from Alarms
Anyway, that's probably got a syntax error or 4 in it, but you get the idea.
I can't group on the database side. Since Crystal is able to link the two tables and successfully group them out by Location, it seems like there should be some way for me to run a query against the tables reflecting that existing link, but I can't see how to do it.
The reason I can't link on database side is that the data is in two databases, and it's not known what the location of the databases is at report-writing time. The location of the databases gets set via the Crystal API when the report is launched from an application.Since you have 2 datasource in the report you are limited on what you can use in crystal, such as crystal will not allow you to use sql expressions.

How to convert Report Model to Report Designer DataSet
To all,
I have a two part question. One is I am experiencing the error at the end of this question when migrating SQL Server 2005 SSRS Native Reports, the report uses a Report Model, to SQL Server 2008 SSRS Native. I bring the Report and Report Model to SQL Server 2008 SSRS and get the error at the end of the question below. Background and the 2nd question are below.
I have a bunch of Report Builder based Reports. I need to convert them to VS BIDS based Report Designer Reports with Shared Datasources and MDX based DataSets.
How can I grab the MDX from the Report Builder Report Model so I can put it into the Report Designer DataSet Query Definition?
What is the easiest way to make this migration between these Report development environments.
I am able to open the Report.RDL file in VS BIDS and can see the entire UI layer. The DataSet I see here is the one that is related to the error at the end of the question. The RD/DataSet holds:

I have created a Shared Datasource that points the the correct Analysis Services cubes that the original Report Model pointed at.
However, I get this error when running the report:
An error occurred during client rendering.
An error has occurred during report processing.
Semantic query compilation failed: e EmptySemanticQuery The SemanticQuery does not contain any Groupings or MeasureGroups. SemanticQuery must contain at least one of these elements. (SemanticQuery '').Actually the error above is from running the report on SSRS 2008 Native. Does anyone know why I get this error and how it may be resolved.
Then I try to bring the report into BIDS RD and create a SDS and DataSet. The Semantic Query above is from the RD DataSet Query window.
I get the following error when running the report in BIDS RD:
An error occured during local processing.
An error has occured during report processing.
Query execution failed for dataset 'dataSet'.
The SemanticQuery element at line 7, column 351 (namespace http://schema.microsoft.com/sqlserver/2004/10semanticmodeling) cannot appear under Envelope/Body/Execute/Command.
So I have two errors with two scenarios. I'd like to know how to resolve one of them.
I'd also like to know how to get the MDX from the RB/RM report so I can put it into the VS BIDS Version and get that to work properly.
Thanks,
Eric -
How to draw cumulative line graph over the stacked bar chart?(SSRS)
Hello,
I need your help to draw a cumulative line graph over this bar chart.
I need your help to draw a cumulative line graph over this bar chart in SSRS.
The dimension (Category Group) is "Hour" in this case. and expression is sum of two distinct values like 'Y' and 'N' in Activity column(Series Groups). The sum(Activity=Y) in green color and sum(Activity='N') in Red color.
I require to draw a cumulative line graph in this same chart, that should give the result of cumulative Sum(Activity) for each hour?? I mean sum of (Y+N) for each hour and that should be cumulative over the hour.
I mean sum of (Y+N) for each hour and that should be cumulative over the hour.

Looking for SIMPLE time tracking app
Hi all
I'm looking for a really simple 'retrospective' time sheet app - wondering if anyone knows one?
I've seen literally hundreds, but they all want you to 'click to start the clock' and then click to end it. This doesn't work for me, as I spend only about 25% of my time in front of the computer.
What I'm looking for is something that I can put all my client contacts in, then separately link projects to those clients. Then at the end of each day I can quickly recall what I did during the day and assign time to each project.
Most apps want you to assign time to each project as you go through the day, so its relatively painless to switch projects. However when you do it all at the end of the day, you don't want to keep entering the date, you just want to enter the start/end time, and what project it was. More like a journal entry I guess.
Then at the end of the month it would print a report that groups the hours worked on each project so that you can review them and create an invoice (or in my case send to my accounts clerk who makes the invoice for me).
Any ideas from anyone would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!Hi shannonbray, welcome to the AppleWorks forum, which is intended for discussions of Apple's now-legacied productivity suite called AppleWorks.
One could develop such a template using the spreadsheet or database modules of AW separately or in combo, but it doesn't sound as if that's your aim. I'm sure clever types have done such things, and perhaps shared them to the AWUserGroups and such, and I hope they note your post and reply. There are certainly numerous clever folks who follow this forum, and they may have pointers to other apps for you, but essentially I think you've posed the wrong question in the wrong place. -

Sorry for asking before doing a search.
I really don't know what is the keyword to do this search.
my case is i want a report to show now many Documents created in yesterday and it is group by hours
so i have write the following SQL:
select TO_char(xf_txdate,'ddmmyyyy'),TO_char(xf_txdatetime,'HH24'),count(distinct xf_docno)
from xf_vipitemdm
where TO_DATE(xf_txdate,'dd/mm/yyyy') = (select TO_DATE(sysdate-1,'dd/mm/yyyy') from dual)
group by xf_txdate,TO_char(xf_txdatetime,'HH24')
and i get the following in return.
TO_CHAR(XF_TXDATE,'DDMMYYYY') HOUR COUNT(DISTINCTXF_DOCNO)
22112009 13 3
22112009 14 1
22112009 15 1
22112009 16 5
22112009 17 3
22112009 18 6
22112009 19 3
