Group Chat Issue

For some reason, I cannot change the picture or kick people out, even if I'm the creator of the group chat. Whether I was the group creator or not, I used to be able to change the icon and kick out people, now I can't do neither. D: Why is that? Please tell me there's a solution to this dilemma. ; u ;

Please consider the Ramifications of Not Having Control
Please Support Early Skype Version 6  to Allow Group Chat Moderator!
Please consider the ramifications of not having control as is prominent currently (ONLY) with older versions. Moderation of Skype chat rooms for groups is possible only with Skype 6.1 and earlier.  We need to have control ...  to best educate others in the groups and to remove any unwanted banter or comments within the stated guidelines of the group organization. I quote for the "anti" Skype Upgrades blog post here; "Please support to the earliest possible version which allows for setting (master) mods for groups so we can function... We are all for making improvements but not at the cost of diminished control within group settings, please support to the earliest possible version which allows for setting (master) mods for groups so we can function as we have previously.  Remember how bugs appear in any new system upgrades and allow for a hefty leeway to full functionality of these new upgrades with the older versions to be backups.... Voice your opinion, speak up NOW before it is TOO LATE, leave your viewpoint TODAY!"

  • Jabber 9.2.3 Group Chat Will Not Start

We're having an issue where about half of our Jabber installs cannot start a group chat.  When you right-click and select "Start a group chat", you receive the message that you are about ready to start a chat with x number of people and to select continue.  Once you select continue, nothing further happens, whereas on the installations that function, the group chat window then launches.  Error message from logs below...

Searched online and only found a few solutions that talk about enabling multi user chat on Presence... which of course it alreay is since half our client workstations can start group chats successfully.  Tried uninstalling/reinstalling and removing the user/groups and readding with no success.
    Thoughts?

  • Is there a way to leave a group chat on Imessage?

Don't get me wrong the group chat was a wonderful addition/feature to the Imessage app. After a while of being in the chat and the messages send back and forth no longer pertain you and you get 100+ messages and every second your phone is vibrating or your ipod music or live TV app is dimming and you cannot barely enjoy the basic functions of the ipod. That's when it comes to a point it needs to end. IS THERE A WAY TO GET OUT OF A GROUP CHAT? No offense to anyone to whom this may relate to but it feels like a gang that the only way out is to be killed. If there's no way out I think everyone with this same issue or agrees with me should post below and make a petition and complain to apple to update this because it is really annoying.

    Hi,
It should be that in the list on the left of your Messages window that the conversation is question will show an  x when you mouse over it.
Use this to end the Conversation.
Alternatively use the File Menu > Delete or Close Conversations options.

  • Sent messages can not be seen by other members in BBM Group Chat

    Hi,
Need help to overcome my current problem with BB Messenger .... My sent messages cannot be seen by other members in all BB Group chats, but I receive all chats from members ...  I can still chat with the same members on one-on-one basis (not in group chat) .... Does anybody know what goes wrong?
FYI, I am using BB 9550 Storm2 with OS v. 5.0.0.607 with BBM ver 5.0.1.41
    Thank you for any inputs.

    Hi there,
Try leaving the group and then have someone reinvite you again.  In most cases, this resolves these sorts of issues.
    I hope that helps!

  • Not receiving messages from group chats

It all started with this notification: (Name) needs to update Skype to participate in this chat. Help by sending them to skype.com/updateme. Learn more about new group chat. I immediately tried to update skype by going to the given link, but the message is still showing up when I am added to a group chat or call. Whenever messages are sent to the group, I can only see them if I log out of skype and log back in, there is also a similar bug happening where my friends tell me they have added me to the groups and the groups dont show up on my recent chats... not even if I log out or log back in but only if they start a call. I have already tried uninstalling and reinstalling skype, resetting skype, and "updating" it by going to skype.com/updateme and downloading the windows desktop client link that is given. I am on windows 8. I really need help fixing this ): Thanks

Hi Guys, you need to follow the below instructions in order to get rid of this issue:
    1. First of all, sign out from Skype application and close it completely by clicking on “Quit Skype”.
    2. Once you are done with it, you need to go Run Command (Run command is accessible through the Start menu or through the shortcut key ⊞ Win+R) & type %appdata% and press enter.
    3. A window will appear on your screen and you will see “Skype” folder in it. Please delete that Skype folder and then try to reopen the Skype application. And you will be able to receive/send group messages now.
(Please note the last instruction may not work if you have not followed the first instruction correctly).

  • SMS messages delayed in Group Chat

I bought a new iPhone 5s 2 months ago and have since often had issues receiving SMS messages on time in a Group Chat.  4 of us in the chat have iPhones, 1 person has an Android, but it was never an issue before buying the 5s.  It also happens when I have a perfect signal.  Hours later, I will get a whole slew of messages that were sent earlier in the day, so they are somehow getting stuck and it keeps happening.  This has not been an issue for other iPhone users in the Group Chat.  Does anyone know what might be causing this and how it can be fixed?
    Thanks

I'm sorry but I already replied to her to "contact her carrier".Did you even read my first line?
If you have NOT something NEW to say ,then do NOT repeat what I just said.I am a new member here, you should embrace new members in this community.
Also I have added possible solutions to her problem.
"This only works if the carrier makes those screens accessible, not all carriers do.  In the US they are not accessible, except maybe on an unlocked device."
Did she mention where she lives? Did she mention if she got an unlocked device? No. So how you know?
My answer completed every possible question.FIY it is accessible on an unlocked iPhone ,I am disappointed that you didn't know this.

  • Group Chat feature in Office Communications Server 2007 R2 does not work in Windows Server 2008 R2 domains

Hello to all, there are two confliting articles about this topic:
       1-
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/upgrade-domain-controllers-to-windows-server-2008-r2(v=ws.10).aspx#BKMK_Whatsnew : this one says that it does not work "The Group Chat feature in Office Communications Server 2007 R2 does not work in Windows
Server 2008 R2 domains". This article was updated in 2013.
       2-
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee692314(office.13).aspx: this other article says that it will function "Office Communications Server 2007 R2 Group Chat will function in a Windows Server 2008 R2 forest". This article was updated in
2010 and was refered by the first one.
What is the correct support position for Group Chat feature in Office Communications Server 2007 R2 and Windows Server 2008 R2 domains?
       Regards, EEOC.

    Hi,
I notice the following sentence in the link below “Office Communications Server 2007 R2, Group Chat will not function in a Windows Server 2008 R2 forest or when Group Chat member servers are joined to a Windows Server 2008 R2 domain.
We know of an issue with changes in Windows 2008 R2 that requires a Group Chat Client and Group Chat Admin Tools hotfix. The Group Chat Client and Group Chat Admin Tools hotfixes are currently scheduled for mid-April 2010.”
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/nexthop/archive/2010/11/06/supportability-for-office-communications-server-2007-r2-and-windows-server-2008-r2.aspx
So in my opinion, if you update to the latest version of Windows Server 2008 R2, OCS Server 2007 R2 and Group Chat Client, Group Chat Admin Tools to the latest version, it should work.
However, the best method for you is make a lab to test the problem firstly.

  • Why does the "A" button go inactive when I highlight more than one name to start a group chat?

I can't consistently start a group chat!  Help!  Sometimes it works, and sometimes it doesn't.

    Hi,
AIM, Jabber, MSN (Windows Live), and Yahoo are the major IM services.
AIM, MSN and Yahoo operate through their own Central server where you have to Login with a Name that is valid with that server.
Jabber is a collection of Public and private servers which then are linked together via what is called Federation.
AIM issue (or allow you to register) names directly and through several agreements with ISP and other services.
Apple has one of these Agreements and Names Ending in @Mac.com and the MobileMe @Me.com names are Valid AIM Screen Names.
AIM Names themselves tend to be just plain names where as others are or look like emails.
Anyone of these three Names would be considered to be an "AIM" Buddy list in iChat as it logs in to the AIM Server.
Google run the GoogleTalk service to allow Chats through their Web Mail Page.
    This is a Jabber server.
Facebook seem to run a similar type of service.
People and organisations that run Jabber servers can elect to run what are called Transports as well.
These allow links to the other major services.
An AIM transport would allow them to Add AIM buddies to their List and so on.
iChat can also log in to Jabber servers including the GoogleTalk one
The AIM App for PCs which is up to version 7.2.something can also allow people to Add their Facebook and Google Buddies  (sort of Reverse Transport if you like).
I haven't downloaded the latest AIM for Mac version to see if it does the same.
The short answer then is that all the major players are beginning to allow the adding of Buddies from other services.
This is further complicated or involved, in that the major Social sites are also allowing people to link various Buddy lists in to one overall list.
This tend to mean that if you link Facebook with Google Buddies and AIM Buddies there appears to be some sort of "Feedback" that allows those names to then appear in your AIM Buddy list.
It does seem to somewhat fall down when you try and do Group Chats due to the different ways the major services conduct these chats.

  • Skype group chat breaking when my internet goes do...

So for the past few days my internet has been unexpectedly going down at random times. This is normally not too big an issue but whenever it happens while I am sending a message in a group chat, the whole thing breaks meaning no new messages appear and I can't send any messages. Signing in and out doesn't fix the issue and neither does a PC restart. I know messages are being sent as I can see them on my mobile but not on the desktop app. The only way I can fix it is by leaving and rejoining the chat which is a pain as someone has to re add me every time (it happens quite frequently). Is there any other way to fix this?

In a P2P Moderated chat, the messages are only delivered when at least one of your assigned "buddies" is Online. This is different from new Cloud-based group chats, where messages are delivered via a Cloud server. In MODERATED chats, the creator has the option to REMOVE any message, but cannot EDIT anyone. http://community.skype.com/t5/Windows-desktop-client/Can-t-edit-my-own-messages-in-a-moderated-chat/m-p/4037582#M354165

  • Z10 BBM Group Chat Disappearing

    Hi,
I have a z10 its the first time i joined a group and everytime i close the chat window and then reopen the window i do not see previous messages. I have all settings switched to save chat history, i've even changed the setting within groups to save chat history for a month. When i open windows for my individual chats the history comes up.
Does BB10 allow you to see the history of the groups conversation evertime you open the window just like individual chats? if so can you tell me how to do it.
    Model: STL100-3
    Software release: 10.1.0.273
    OS Version: 10.1.0.1720

    Hello cashami,
Thank you for your question regarding BBM group chat history.
You need to tap on the group in BBM and select chats to see your last months worth of conversation within the group. Are you unable to see this? Does the Chats box display as blank?

  • Delayed or Non-Responsive Group Chat

    Anyone else having this issue?
I don't know why my previous one was removed since I followed all the guidelines but who wouldn't want to cover their mistakes.... right M$?
Anyways I'm on 7.4, the group chat seems to be delayed or never send and recieve messages. Sometimes it just requires me to say something in group chat...... or sometimes it just spins forever to never end up sending or updates me on what the group has said days later...
I could send a letter faster via carrier pidgeon faster than this sends seriously why is this basic issue not addressed?

I have this exact issue.  It takes around 3-10 hours to update and/or send chat, which is pretty much 70% of why I use skype for...

  • Group chat report

theres a massive group who are doing illegal things in chat like shaireing child pornography i understnad there age is 16 and 17 year olds and some 18 year olds so i understand that there are still children in the eyes of the law we have a choice a stand to make and i dont now what to do report them and make shore there chat is off line or report them in a crimanal state of justice (call the police on them) i will apprechite if somebody can get in toutch becaue i cannot find a way of contacting skype to make them awere witch i honisly think is appauling email me at [e-mail removed for privacy and security]

Another user with the exact issue as described above.  After spending a lot of time troubleshooting the problem I have narrowed down the events that produces the 'hidden window'.  If GroupChatConsole.exe is running and the user locks and then unlocks
their computer, this problem occurs.  This would explain why closing and re-opening Group Chat appears to 'fix' the problem.  If the computer is locked and unlocked again though (with Group Chat running), the problem returns. It doesn't matter if
the main Group Chat window is open or minimized to the task bar or notification area.
We have tried all the basic troubleshooting such as uninstall/reinstall, reboot, etc.  We even imaged a brand new laptop and migrated the user to the newer model, but problem starting occurring again after a few days.
I love troubleshooting challenging problems, but this is something I have never encountered before... and after tirelessly searching the internet, doesn't seem like many others have, either.  I hope someone else can provide some more insight or
clues to permanently fix this problem!

  • BUG: My Group Chats Keep Splitting Into 2 Conversations

Hello Everyone!I am on a Mac Version 10.7.5, running Skype Version 6.15 at my place of work, and we rely on group chats to assign out different projects across our team members through 2 different US states.I've noticed that my first group chat of the day that I start ends up breaking off into 2 conversations and it's rather annoying because some replies will only show up in one of the convos. Screenshot attached for reference - I blurred out names & conversation for privacy. There's one group chat with all of the names of the group participants, then there's another chat with the group that I had assigned.Does it anyone know why Skype is doing this or if there's a fix? Has anyone else experienced something like this? I know I can start a new group chat and tell everyone to jump to that one, but it's more efficient if the first one worked without issue, since there's a lot of participants in the chat.NOTE: As this is a work computer and there's a lot of us spread between locations, I am not authorized to make any updates to programs. I'm stuck with what I've got. Also, I believe I'm using a business version of Skype, so that might make a difference as well?Any insight is much appreciated!

Getting the same issue here. Created a 4 person group (myself included) and the chat split into two of the same conversation, with some messages appearing in one and some in the other. EDIT: I should also mention that on the Skype app of my Galaxy S5, the problem isn't there. The entire chat is grouped into a single convo with all messages there. So the issue is just on my laptop, running Windows 8.1. I'll update when I upgrade to Windows 10 in a few days and let you guys know if the problem is still there.

    Hello,
Has anyone found a solution to this? It just happened to me and it is really quite annoying. I am using windows 7 SP1 and skype 7.0.85.102  What is the worst part is that the group responses come in the group i am not looking at, so i am constantly popping between the two copies. no one else in the group is experiencing this. I am the group owner (i created the group)
