Group email includes wrong address

I'd been sending a group email via Contacts just fine. Until this morning, I noticed that that group email included addresses that were in a different group! It's still doing the same thing, even though I restarted my iMac. Help?

Fixed it myself. I went to System Preferences, then iCloud. I deselected "Contacts." Then I went back to my iMac Contacts and let it "reboot." I did a group email, and everything worked. Then I returned to iCloud and clicked "Contacts." Voila! Back to normal!
Do I get a star?  :-)

  • Maverick mail. In my sent box why do different peoples emails I send end up grouped under the wrong address?

I'm been scratching my head for ages. I've been sending emails using Mail to different clients and then later going to the sent box to check a few things and noticed they've disappeared as if I've never sent them. I've now realised they're being grouped under completely different email addresses.
An example, I'll have an email sent to [email protected] Beside it has the number 9 with an arrow. If you click on this it has got 9 emails sent to 9 completely different people and organisations sent on completely different days (no common denominator).
Has anyone come across this before and if so how can I fix it? It's driving me crazy.

Your first theory may be correct.
If you haven't already, change your password on your .mac account. That will stop any further action by the other fellow. Even if you can't tease out the detail of what happened exactly, you can at least fix the problem with the password change.
Also if you left on good terms, contact the new owner of the workMac and ask if s/he used your .mac account.

  • APPLE MAIL is sending emails from wrong address

    Hello,
This question has probably been asked before, but I haven't been able to find it. Feel free to send me there with a link if it's helpful.
    Here's my plight:
I use gmail IMAP and manage 2 email accounts through Apple Mail (5.2). One is the domain catch-all email, [email protected], and the other is my main personal account, [email protected] Usually, whichever mailbox I click on is the address from which my mail is sent. But recently, whenever I've sent mail from [email protected], the recipient has been seeing my personal address ([email protected]), rather than the Info address. But the address line still says "Info" and not my name, if that makes sense. Example:
    NORMAL: FirstName LastName "<[email protected]>"; Info "<[email protected]">
    NOW (PROBLEM): Info "<[email protected]>"
The replies to the mail I sent from Info are then sent to my personal account. I checked the mail preferences and the Info settings are the same as they've always been. It says the name is Info and the address is [email protected] I'm not sure why Apple Mail is suddenly thinking that the Info emails are coming from my personal account. Is this an Apple Mail issue, or a Gmail issue? Help! I don't want people to be receiving emails from my personal account when it should be from the Info account. Do I need to delete the entire Info mailbox from Apple Mail and start all over?
    Thanks for your help!

Agreed.  I had three gmail accounts, 2 business, one personal, but lately all my attempts to send mail from my personal account wound up being sent from Business instead, even after selecting which account to send it from.
I went into Preferences, Account info, then found all outgoing smtp servers simply called gmail but there were three in the list. It turned out that all my accounts were being directed to one server address.
If you drop down the Edit SMTP Server list, then select each account under Account Information you can see which server is dedicated to which account. Then you can edit the name of the related gmail server to the related account. So you can have gmail personal, gmail business 1, gmail business 2 etc.
Once you have the servers renamed (all the same actually but tells mail which account credentials to use), you can then select the appropriate server to match the right account under Preferences>Account Info front page.
    Worked for me.

  • Spam email on wrong addresses

    Hi everybody,
From 1 week i'm receiving spam email on my (icloud) email address: It's strange, because i never diffused and used that address, but ok spam is spam.
The problem is that the same email are arrived by unknown addresses ON a unknown addresses!! Yes, the receiver addresses aren't mine but however I received the mails on my icloud account!!
Why? How i can do for resolve this problem?
    Maybe the accout was violated?
    Thanks in advance.

Something is miserably broken with Verizon's mail filters.  A large portion of the email THAT I WANT AND/OR NEED is blocked yet the garbage email messages are sent through.
I cannnot send email using any program other than the web page.  I used to be able to send email from my phone and from outlook on my computer, but something changed on their side as the outgoing mail server no longer recognizes me.  It says that my password is incorrect, yet I am able to log into the email system to get my mail.  I have been using the internet for over 20 years (yes, I know, I was working with a startup ISP in 1994, I am old).  I know how to configure SMTP and POP mail clients.

  • Iphone sending emails from wrong address

My Iphone is sending emails from a gmail account I no longer wish to use.  I cannot find any trace of these details on the phone, I have deleted and set up the one I want to use but it is still happening.  I am missing important messages because I send them from the correct details but if people hit 'reply' they are sent to gmail.  Soooooo annoying!

Reboot your iPhone. Then check Settings > Mail > Accounts and make sure the account you no long want to use is either turned off ( if you plan to use it again in the future) or deleted.

We also need some time to paint.
    Thanking you,

Looking forward to receive your suggestion to resolve the issue.

    1. That can happen if the other user is sending from the first user or is logged into the other user's mailbox.  See if you can reproduce the issue while watching exactly what the users are doing.  That may also happen if one user is forwarding
    the mail by rule.
    2. That can also appear to be the case when the apparent sender is forwarding mail by rule.
    3. Using ADSI Edit, look at the legacyExchangeDN attribute of the users.  Please post them here if you have any questions.

  • Can I automate this group email process?

I have a workflow question. Every Monday, I have to send about 300 emails out. The body text is the exact same for each message, except for one link that is unique to each email.
For instance, one email might read:
    Dear Friends,
    Read this month’s newsletter:
    www.newsletter/-1.com
    While the next would read:
    Dear Friends,
    Read this month’s newsletter:
    www.newsletter/-2.com
Additionally, each of these emails has an entirely different recipient list.
My basic question is: what is the quickest way to do this? Can it be automated?
As of now, I have figured out how to author the emails all at once, using Mac Automator. Which means all that is left is adding the unique links and pressing send. It’s not that bad, but doing it 300 times a week is tedious. Furthermore, accuracy is very important, which is another reason why an automated workflow is attractive (eliminate the component of human error).
Any ideas? I’d be willing to spend a little money to get this thing solved, if necessary. So, if there is a 3rd party program or plugin, please let me know. Even better, if you can think of a way to use the native components within Microsoft Office (Excel, Entourage) or Mac OS (Mail, Address Book, Automator), that would be ideal.
My initial intuition is that there must be a way for a mail program to communicate with a spreadsheet to achieve this. For instance, if I could set Mail to author an individual email for each cell in column A of an Excel or Numbers document, while pulling the link name from the same row in Column B…seems like I should be able to do that, I just don’t know how.

  • Cannot send some emails from the address book. Comcast says it is not a server problem.

Keep getting this message when trying to send a group email from the address book -"The size of the message you are trying to send exceeds a temporary size limit of the server. The message was not sent, try to reduce the message size or wait some time and try again. The server responded: 4.1.1... temporary failure."
Comcast has checked it - the issue is not the server they say. This problem just started 4 days ago. It appears other people have this problem on the thunderbird forum and it has not been resolved yet.

The Comcast server is issuing the error message. Have them explain how this is not their problem.

  • Sending group emails in Mail 2.1

I'm having trouble (and have been for some time) sending group emails from my Address book. If there are more than a dozen or so in the Bcc box, it takes a long time for anything to get sent (usually not sending out at all). Yes I have an address in the 'to' box, and a group in the bcc box, but if my group numbers are high (let's say 50-100), it just won't send.
I've read a number of the dicussions about this over the years, and cannot find a solution.
If anyone has a solution, please advise. I don't want to switch to Entourage or any other program... I like Mail... just not this part.
    Thanks in advance.

    Power Mac G5 Dual 2.3   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

I'm also having trouble with sending large group emails.
    Band invitations, specifically.
I'm also unable to export my .mac addresses into excel and I find that most mass email programs can't import .mac addresses.
Does anyone have a solution/good way to
    1) use .mac to send emails to groups of 100-1000?
    2) way to export .mac addresses into excel?
    Thanks!

  • HT1277 how do i create a group email

how do i create a group email?

In Address Book, make a group and add some contcts to that group. Then, in Mail, start typing the name of the group in one of the recipient fields - it should auto-complete.
If the group members would not like their email addresses shared, use the BCC field, and put your own address in the To field
Many ISPs limit the maximum number of recipients.

  • Hiding Recipient email addresses from view in a group email

I want to compose 1 email which I'll send to a group of 10 email addresses, but I don't want the list of email addresses to be included in the email the recipient receives when I send the email. Is this possible?

Actually, one doesn't even need to address it to one's self or anyone else in the "To:" line. If all recipients are "BCC'ed," the email shows up addressed "To: undisclosed recipients"

  • New user. Need to know where my email contacts are on my macbook pro and how I can make a group email address

New user. Email contacts imported to MacBook pro from PC - but I'm unable to call up entire contact list or to make a group emailing contact.

Assuming you are using Apple's Mail application, contacts are managed via the Contacts application, in your application folder.  As for various addressing methods, including groups, maybe this:

  • HT5787 Apple is sending my reset-email to the wrong address!!!

I would like to reset my password for my Apple Id.
But, I forgot one of the security questions.
    I follow the procedure:
    - I requested the reset-email.
    - I have access to the email registered with apple id
    - the reset-email has not arrived
    I tried couple of times.
But, below the security questions, it says it will send the reset email to the address  [email protected]
The thing is: I do NOT have any email like that registered with apple.
Is apple sending my reset-email to the wrong address??
What do I do? There is no link to report this directly to Apple, is there??
Thanks a lot to the community.
    Clarice

You need to ask Apple to reset your security questions; ways of contacting them include phoning AppleCare and asking for the Account Security team, clicking here and picking a method for your country, and filling out and submitting this form.
They wouldn't be security questions if they could be bypassed without Apple verifying your identity.
