Group Message Sends as Individual Messages

Hi
I have an iPhone 5 with the latest software.  My group mesaaging is not working.  If I send an iMessage, my group messaging works as it should with all people replying to the same message.  However when my iMessage is off and I send a group message, each person receives my message seperately and attached is "New Multimedia Message"
My carrier is Cellcom and my group message and mms messaging are on.
Thanks

Hi all.
Looks like I am not alone! I seldom MMS so I've missed this thread and posted the same problem fresh post a while back.
Yes, either use the 'Blue Plus' button to add 2nd contact onwards or turn off MMS for now. Gosh, I've been sending quite a few group sms and I have not realized this until now, because sometimes my MMS sending fails and I've to re-send it, only to discover my Group SMS is actually a Group MMS!!
Cheers

    Hey Grupo Castillo,
Thanks for the question. You can actually configure this behavior from Mail preferences:
    1. Choose Preferences from the Mail menu.
    2. Click Composing.
    3. Deselect the checkbox for "When sending to a group, show all member addresses".
When you send an email to the group, only the groups name will be seen.

  • Can I send a group message and have it appear as an individual message to the recipients?

I am looking for a way to send one message to all of my work contacts without having everyone's information sent to every recipient.  Is there a way to send a group message, but have the recipients of the message only see that it was from me?

I Don't believe that's possible yet unfortunately. The decision to determine group texting is on the recipients phone not on your end. So on the iPhone if the recipient has the group messaging toggled to the on position and you send out a group text the recipient will be able to see all of the people that text went to. You could ask, within your group text that they all start a new text to you instead of replying to that one because unfortunately the option to reply to sender or reply to all hasn't caught on with cell phones yet. I would love to see this change in the near future or if there is a way or a workaround hopefully someone mentions it here.

  • Individual iMessage ok but group message not working

I am suddenly having problems with iMessage.  I can send individual messages but when I try to send a group message, it just hangs and the message eventually completely disappears from my message history.  This is both for new conversations and existing conversations. It makes no sense.  Help!!!

    CORRECTION:
Mms is not working despite it being on. Friends ARE NOT receiving group messages and I can't send mms to anyone individually.
Sorry for the confusion. Confused some details between the old 3GS and this 4S

  • Why can't I send picture messages and group messages with MMS?

Picture messages fail to certain people with invalid destination address.  Then the group messages won't send unless I send them as individual texts.  Very frustrating.

I am having this same issue! I got my S3 in December & it has worked fine until about a month and half ago. . .around the time of latest software update! I can not send MMMS messages (group texts, pics, videos). It doesn't matter if I am on wi-fi, 3g, 4g LTE. It does not send!!! And I am getting ******. Help Verizon!!

  • Can read group messages, but unable to send.

I have just factory reset my iPhone 5 to factory settings, using iOS 7.0.4 and I am unable to send group messages.
I can turn off group messages and am able to send them to individual users but can't send the group a message and have it stay in group. I get a red excalamation mark almost immediately before it's even trying to send.
    I use iMessage one-on-one fine
    SMS one-on-one fine
group message impossible to send, but able to see
    What gives?

try entering the username and password for the outgoing mail server and see if that helps.

  • Can send group message but stopped receiving

yesterday I was sending and receiving group messages just fine. All of a sudden I stopped receiving the messages even though I could still send them. (this was just in one group). My other group works perfect-can send and receive.
    Any help?

The group message problem doesn't seem limited to mixed groups. Twice today I have been unable to originate or reply to iPhone group messages with only two recipients. Single individual messages seem to be no problem. This is one a two day old iPhone 6.

  • IMessage - Group Message Sends As SMS

I've been in a group iMessage since iOS 5 came out, and this is the first time this has happened.
A couple of nights ago, I tried to send a rather long iMessage to the group (maybe 2-3 times the size of a normal text limit). It failed to send, and when it failed to send, it was green, not blue. My friends said they received it outside the group iMessage as an individual SMS, even though it showed up as not sent on my end.
Problem is, now, I can't seem to send any iMessages to the group (green button, not blue, so sends it as an SMS to everyone individually). I can still send an iMessage to individual people.
I've turned iMessage off and on again and no luck. If I delete the group conversation and straight a new group iMessage, it will let me send it as an iMessage, then any messages after that, it only lets me send them as an SMS!

    You're welcome.

  • Why can't I send group messages, but I still receive group meesages

It just started happening to me today and I made sure that both the "group message" and "iMessage" options are on under settings. Also, I am able to send iMessages individually just not in groups.

Yes all of the options under settings are turned on like they should be

  • Send group message as iMessage and text

Is there a way to send a group message as both iMessage and text message? When texting two people, one with iPhone and one without, the person without doesn't get the message. The person who doesn't have an iphone used to and now when I try I send her an individual text, my iphone tries to send it as an iMessage. It will usually fixes it and sends it as a text. Could this be why the group messages aren't going through?

The quick fix is to delete the conversation and start again but then you lose any history.
Here's how to fix it without losing the conversation history:
Start a new conversation with the people from the conversation Apple broke.
Add yourself as a recipient too.
Send a message to the conversation.
You will see your sent message.
You will then "receive" a group iMessage. This shows up as another conversation to the one you just sent the message to.
To stop future messages from yourself also being sent to yourself, you can now "leave" the group conversation you started.
Then just reply as normal to the conversation you "received" in step 5.
After a while iOS will actually merge the new conversation with the old conversation you were trying to save. I'm not sure what triggers it to do that.

  • My Iphone 5 won't send pictures or accomplish group messaging. Please advise! If cannot be fixed soon I will switch to the Galaxy phone. Anyone else having this issue?

Use BCC instead of TO. That is what that feature is for.

  • Is it possible to send a text to several contacts at the same time and not have their replies go to everyone on the list?  I have an iphone 4s and most of the people I am texting also have iPhones.  I do have group messaging turned off.

Is it possible to send a text from the iphone 4s to several contacts and not have their replies go to everyone else on the original text?  I have group messaging turned off but this seems to do nothing.

    Do this instead:
Email everyone instead of texting and use BCC: which will hide all of the people's emails.

  • How do I fix my 3gs after 6.1.3 update? It will no longer send / receive group messages and won't send pic text messages either.

Ever since I updated my 3gs (on ATT) to 6.1.3, it will no longer send or receive group texts, and it won't send picture messages
(though I seem to be able to receive picture texts). I've looked around on the boards, and here's what I've tried so far (to no avail):
    1. Tried simply turning off / on
    2. Tried hard reset
    3. Tried having imessages off
    4. Turned group messaging off / on (tried while it was off)
    5. Turned off all messaging, turned phone off / on, turned all message settings back on
    6. Reset network settings
Help! Argghh!!! I never had this much trouble when my previous phone was jailbroken! Here I am, trying to be good!

Thanks, Nick. Calling ATT is a last resort; it's a software issue, I'm sure, and I've also found other
people having the same issue, but none of the fixes work. I reset all my settings: nothing. I'm not sure what you mean by restrictions.
