Group movies together in iTunes 12

How can I group my movies together in iTunes 12.1 on v10.10.2 so they are grouped, for example all the Star Wars together, rather than separate. I've got them all tagged with artwork etc, but want to group them
thanks

You can’t group them.
You can make the names similar and sort on Name and they will be displayed one after the other.
Star Wars 1 - The Phantom Menace
Star Wars 2 - Attack of the Clones
Star Wars 3 - Revenge of the Sith
Star Wars 4 - Star Wars
Star Wars 5 - Empire Strikes Back
Star Wars 6 - Return of the Jedi

  • How can I group books together in iTunes?

How can I group books together in iTunes? Some .pdf books will group but others won't even though they have the same Author, Album Name and are part of a Compilation. I have inserted a picture below to illustrate my point; as you can see, some issues of X-men have grouped together but others still show separately.

I have tried to attach the image again to show what I mean.
All the .pdf files I imported are tagged as Books and display properly in the books section. It is only the grouping that is not working. As can be seen in the picture, I don't want to actually merge the .pdfs to a single book, just group them into one 'Album' I suppose as turingtest2 says. However, I have set the Artist, Album Name and Grouping fields to be the same for all files, all are marked as part of a compilation but still only the first 3 X-men issues are grouping together. Any more ideas?

  • How can I group movie chapters in iTunes?

I have finally finished ripping a few DVDs using the Magic DVD Ripper but it only does each chapter individually and saves each chapter as a new file. I am now trying to put them in iTunes and I can't figure out a way to group all these chapters together into one folder or one movie. Is there anything I can do either using iTunes itself or some free software that allows me to group the chapters together?

I'm pretty sure Windows Movie Maker can link all the movies together. Never used it before personally so I can't gurantee.

  • Grouping movies together (ie. all sequels etc.)?

    Hi.
I never owned a gen1 AppleTV, but I'd read you could group similar films together by setting the 'Show' tag in iTunes. Eg. All Harry Potter films would have Show 'Harry Potter', and a folder would appear. http://www.pcworld.com/article/156294/groupmovies_into_folders_on_appletv.html is the kind of thing I'm referring to.
I've tried this in the latest iTunes, then looked on the AppleTV gen 2: doesn't seem to take effect, all films still show as single entries in the main list.
Is there any way of getting films to group?
    Cheers,
    Ian

Is there any way of getting films to group?
You can get then to "group" in the main list by using a "Sort" descriptor. You can get then to "group" alone at a secondary level by placing them in "Playlists" and viewing in the lists of Playlists. (E.g., "Star Wars", "Jason Bourne", "Harry Potter", "James Bond", "Charlie Chan", "Mr. Moto", "Mr. Wong", "Sherlock Holmes", "Resident Evil", etc. could all be playlists and the "Movies" playlist could become a list of all movies not already in other playlists.)

  • Can i group movies together as a box set

I am importing my movies to iTunes on my Mac.
I havve managed to import the artwork and save them as movies etc and am pretty pleased so far.
I am not importing a box set, is there any way that i can display them as a box set rather than individual movies?

    Hi,
Unfortunately you cannot have states for grouped items. You will have to define it manually. But I will leave the thread open for more suggestions what you are trying to achieve

  • Is there a way to make movies playlists in itunes 10?

I would like to be able to make a playlist consisting of movies without having to change info to make them into music videos. If there were a sperarte music video category in the itunes library section, that sure would be neat. But instead there is a music video playlist where the music videos will be, but they also show up in the Music library which I do not like or want. So is there a way to make a movies playlist w/o them ending up clogging the Music section of my itunes library?

You can make a playlist that contains any combination of audio and video from the Music, Movies, TV Shows, Books (Audiobooks) and Podcasts sources. If you really object to the music videos appearing in Music, either make them Movies, or perhaps better yet, TV Shows and give them a common Show name to group them together.

  • How do you group icons together

Brand new to Mac systems.  Can someone tell me if it's possible to group icons together.  Ex: put all games in 1 folder. Thanks.

Touch and hold one of the apps and they should start shaking. Then drag one of them over the top of another and a folder should get created with those two apps in. You can then drag more apps over and into it, or create more folders in the same way (but you can't create folders within folders); press the home button when you've finished so as to stop the shaking. Some people find it easier to do when connected to iTunes using the device's apps tab it's easier to move things around via your computer, and changes don't get committed until you sync them onto the iPad.
There is more info in the manual (chapter 3) which can be downloaded from here http://support.apple.com/manuals/iPad.

  • Outlook contact groups not appearing in iTunes Sync

I was having trouble getting contact groups to appear in iTunes froma outlook. For awhile I got 1 group to appear and no others. I expermentally deleted that group and it remained while nothing else showed up. Apple support had no idea what to do and I stumbled upon a solution eventually. Since other people seem to have had a similar problem judging from the forums I thought I'd post my fix if nothing else is working for you.
When you create a new group in MSoutlook (by right clicking and selecting new folder) in order to keep your contacts orginized it makes that folder in a subfolder of whichever folder you clicked on. This doesn't display in MSoffice at all, all folders simply appear in a straight line with no way for you to tell where they are. The issue is that if you have these groups in any other directory besides Contacts they will not appear in iTunes. In my case everything was a subfolder under Suggested Contacts. In order to fix/check this simply click on your groups 1 at a time and select the "move folder" option, select Contacts, then hit OK. Rinse and repeat until all your folders are filed under contacts.
Once you've completed that open iTunes, go into the info tab of your device, and sync contacts with outlook. Just select sync all if nothing appears. After the sync all your groups should appear below for you to pick and choose which groups you'd like to upload. I hope this helps.
This fix was using Office 2010 on Windows 7 (64-bit) with iTunes 10.5.2.11

    Hi,
I would like to create two folders - one for me and one for my wife. So under 'My Contacts' in Outlook 2010 it looks like this:
    Suggested contacts
    Contacts
    Suggested contacts (email address)
    Simon's contacts
    Julie's contacts
iTunes has picked up these sub-folders - THANKS!
However, I would like to keep the 'Contacts' folder with all the contacts in and only copy selected contacts from there and place them into my wife's folder and mine. The 'copy' function does not seem to work.
Obviously my contacts are different to my wife's and she does not want hundreds of names on her contact list.
So, basically how do I copy contacts without moving them out of the contacts folder and manually typing them all back in my wife's folder (some contacts we both need)?
Hope you can help on this one.
    Many thanks,
    Simon

  • Group photos together

    Hi,
I am making a movie made up of A LOT of still images, much like a stop motion animation. I am wondering if it is possible to group photos together once I have them how I want them so I can move them around like a single video clip.
Or will I have to export it as a small video clip and import it again to do this?
I'm using FCP 5.1 by the way
    Thanks in advance

As reink says, exporting is the best way. Unless you have filmed these yourself as a stop motion animation as continuous jpeg file numbers, in which case you can import them into motion as an image sequence, resize the whole clip (not individual frames) and export as a video file from there.
    cheers
    Andy

  • How to "group" movies

Hi, in the past I used to "group" movies with a specific item on iTunes (Program name), doing so watching with my Apple TV 1G they were rendered as "grouped" on the list, let me to explain: suppose to have three movies of "Toy Story" (1, 2 and 3), using that field in iTunes with the name " Toy Story" on Apple TV 1G I had a single movie title " Toy Story" with a > and clicking on it I can select one of the three movies.
This was very useful to limit the large number of movies into a specific genre...anyway this don't work anymore on my Apple TV 2G that took the place onto my previous one (1G).
I don't know if the problem is about 2G or to iTunes version so I'm asking here hoping to have a reply.
Anyone could make a test and let me know if I have to change something ?
    Thanks, best regards.
    Roberto.

Unfortunately there is nothing you can do about it, yes it's very frustrating and represents one of a handful of features the Apple TV 1 had that the 2 doesn't. Not that it's important but it's not just limited to the Apple TV, all iOS devices are afflicted by this. Whether or not it can be achieved under iOS I don't know.

  • How to group move icons

    just updated to 4.1
icons are now located on 5th and 6th screens, want to group move them, possibly back to now (nearly) blank 2nd screen.
Is there a way to do this ?

It's very simple to create a folder, move it to a new screen, then drag the apps out of it. You're right, it's a little kludgy, but it's all there is for now.
Hint 2: Also, if your 2nd screen is nearly empty, just drag the icons off of it. When you press the Home button, the empty screen will disappear.
Hint 3: You may find it easier to move lots of icons around in iTunes than directly on the iPhone. You can then sync the new arrangement.

  • Question on how to move files in iTune Liabrary

All my file types--music, podcasts, and audiobook--are located in Music folder in the Library. I wish to move podcast files to Podcast folder and audiobook files to Audiobook folder.
After trying the intuitive Windows' methods like drag & drop, I searched both online documentations and preexisting discussions on the subject, but no avail.
Does anyone know how I can move files (Podcasts and Audiobook) from Music folder to other folders in my Library ?

Although I can not completely claim to understand your question, I think that you are concerned with how to put together two or more songs of the same Artists' group when each songs are loaded at different times. If that is your concern, I might have a suggestion.
You can group two or more songs, added at different times, with various groupings. The varying groupings are by Artist, Album, Genre, etc. Since if you knew how to do it with one, then you can do other ways as well; let's pick Genre for my suggestion purposes.
First, you need to select two songs that you wish to group together. You can select both of them by highlighting the first one, then the second one by clicking the second one while holding "Ctrl" button. You should see both songs highlighted.
After both songs are highlighted, you want to edit information of both songs at the same time. To do so, you first need to get the Form called Multiple Item Information. You can get this form by first moving your cursor over one of the two highlighted songs, then "Right" click. You might get a dialogue box, which is to verify whether you really want to modify information on multiple items. When you get such dialogue box, click on "YES." After that, you should see the Form I mentioned--Multiple Item Information.
In this Form, you might see some or most of the fields already filled. If not, you might want to manually type in whatever you wish. For our purpose of grouping them together, you need to modify two fields--Boxes named "Compilation and Gapless Album." For each of those boxes, you will want to select "Yes" from its drop-down menu. Each drop-down menu is located at the right corner of each Box. You will also want to fill in the check boxes, located on the left them, by clicking in them.
After sequentially following all those steps above, you can now click on the "O.K." button of the Multiple Item Information Form. If you followed those steps successfully, you should see both songs grouped together.
Any further help or clarification needed, reply back with your specific concerns to which I can try my responses.

  • Movie downloaded from itunes not playing on ipod video

I bought a movie off of itunes and downloaded it to my ipod video. But the movie won't play on my ipod. It plays perfectly fine on my computer. Why isn't playing on my ipod video? Is there something i have to do first before videos are able to play on my ipod?

Is it one film or all of them? I'm having a similar problem where this one film I accidentily deleted that used to play got reloaded and now plays fine on my computer but won't sync onto my iPod. Everything's checked off and ready to go on my computer, but when I sync the film simply isn't there.

    Hey cptniemo,
Thanks for the question. Connecting your iTunes Store and Disney Movies Anywhere accounts should sync all of your eligible Disney, Pixar, and Marvel movies between both services. After connecting your accounts, you can check your purchased history in the iTunes Store:
    Download past purchases

Alternatively you can download the free Disney Movies Anywhere app from the App Store (iOS 7 required):

  • How can I move my iPod iTunes Music Folder from C: drive to a New Drive?

Running out of space on my PC's C: drive, so I tried moving all the folder to my new E: drive ie: (E:\My Music 2\iTunes).
ALSO set iTunes (Edit/Preferences/Advanced/iTunes Music Folder location to E:\My Music 2\iTunes - but nothing seems to help!)
All of the files couldn't find the source files, unless I pointed to them one by one.
Can't move them all back because they are about 7GB+, and I now only have about 5.5 GB on my C: drive.
And when I just went to open iTunes again, all my libraries don't even show.
I'm afraid to plug in my ipod for synching until I get this straight, for fear of messing that up too.
    Please advise.

To move your iTunes music to an external drive...
    1 Quit iTunes.
2 Move the entire iTunes folder including music to
    the external drive.
In point #2 do you mean move the entire Program File folder of iTunes or just the "My Documents" iTunes library folder?
I have a full laptop, a big iPod and an external HD, I am trying to figure out how to store my library on the HD, but access it as if it were on the laptop.
I moved my iTunes library to the HD and then in iTunes I used the "add folder to library" function, but it brought all of the song files back onto the laptop.
How do you iPod gurus configure your setup with comp, HD and iPod? I need some guidance, my methods are not working.
