Group Tree - Magnifying Glass - opens new preview pane -
I have several reports that are similar, each with a group based on the same "refnum" field. On one report, I get a magnifying glass in the preview window, and when I click on a group, it opens a new preview window with just that group.
On the other reports, I don't see that magnifying glass to the left of the group name in the preview group tree, and when I click on the group, I just move to that page of the report. How do I get them all to behave the same way - how do I control that group tree behavior
You are seeing the magnifying glass because in the section expert, you've set Hide (Drill Down OK) for the section.

Does anyone else have the same issue?
So far, FWIW all I've got is individual AddToAddressBook, then in AB itself, drag and drop one by one from the main list into the desired group.

Crystal Report Export to PDF with Group Tree Bookmarks

I have created a Crystal Report aspx page with an export function of the report to pdf. So far all has been successful, except form one little annoying this. The report does export to a pdf file and it does create bookmarks based on the group tree, BUT when opening the pdf file the bookmarks hiest point which should be the file name is the really long temp file name with .rpt as an extension. I have looked every where to try to get it to write the filename to the bookmark hierarchy without success.
I come you you all for any form of help to solve this issue.

Hi there.
My MD is missing his preview pane.
I have tried to double click at the bottom where it should be, but its not there.
At the bottom, is just the end of mail, its hard to explain, but there is no bar to double click on to get the preview pane back up.
Is there another way to do this?
I have tried quitting mail, restarting, and re-sizing the mail window, but all to no avail.
Anyone got any other suggestions?My Preview Pane suddenly went missing, too. One moment it was there, next moment I looked up and it was gone!
The real PITA though is the total lack of reference in Mail Help, not only on how to open a Preview Pane, but not even acknowledging that such a thing exists. I've searched on everywhere key word I can think of and zip, nada, nowhere.
If anybody knows how to open a preview pane in the Mail app, PLEASE post it here.
Without a preview pane, it's virtually useless.
This is my first real disappointment with MacBook. As a tech writer I find the MacBook Help documentation pretty pathetic. -

Just drag the divider line between the preview pane and the message list all the way to the edge so the preview is completely closed. Selected messages will open in a new window with a double-click or the return key.

Missing preview pane in Open dialog box
Recently, the preview pane doesn't show in any file open dialog boxes. For instance, when viewing the list of files in the open dialog box I was previously able to single click on a file and to the right, I would see a preview of the file as well as some basic info. Now, that pane is gone. What's particularly vexing is that this is happening on both my MacBook and my MacBook Pro. On the MBP, I was running 10.6.2 and I ran Software update yesterday to 10.6.3 in an effort to fix it, but the problem is still there.
While I'm not quite sure what you mean, it sounds to me like you had the Open dialog set for Column view, and at some point changed it to List view. Take a look at the toolbar at the top of the Open dialog window, you should see the back/forward buttons, then a group of three icons representing icon, list and column view. Both icon view and column view will show a preview icon of the selected file. Personally, I like icon view, since you see all the files that fit in the window with custom thumbs, and can pick what you want quickly. If you change the setting, in say Safari, to list view (which makes more sense in Safari), then the Open dialog for, say, TextEdit gets changed too. Just change it back by clicking the little icon in the toolbar at the top of the Open window.

What is the solution to save over a file with Windows Explorer preview pane open?
(This is a stagnant issue in an alternate thread and did not address the issue directly.) Every time I make a minor change to a document, I am forced to write a new file to save it. This is cumbersome, annoying and wasteful. I am an architect and I quite regularly need to have several windows explorer windows and pdf files open at once when coordinating information from several different places. It is not practical for me to turn off my preview pane or close every explorer window. How can I avoid saving every document new even when making a minor change?

Hiding report title in Group Tree View Pane
In a .rpt file, if I provide a Group Field, it is displayed in the "Group Tree View" when I preview the report.
The Group Tree View pane also contains the name of the report - actually the title. Is there a way that I can choose not to show report title on this pane?
Here is my requirement:
I'm localizing the report file and that includes localizing group names too. I've also localized the report title by using a formula and displaying the formula in the report header. But this pane - Group Tree View - uses report title from "Special Fields", which I'm not able to modify. So I'm always getting the non-localized report title displayed on this pane, which I want to avaid somehow.
If I remove report title from the report properties, this pane shows report file name instead, which again i do not want to be displayed.

ChrisAfter removing the report title from the report properties try to place a space " " in the report title field in summaryinfo so that a blank space is shown in the group tree.

I use google mail for work and personal mail. When using my Mac, I click on a document (PDF, Excel, etc) in an email message and it opens a preview of that document in a new tab.
On my Windows PC, I do the same thing and it just sits there. I have checked the pop-up blocker and some of the settings but can't figure out why it works in one and not in another.

New Mac, fresh install of Mountain Lion
When I click to open a .Pdf from a web page,while in Safar, I get a black window
Nothing opens in Preview or in Acrobat
No option to downloadOpen the Finder. From the Finder menu bar click Go > Go to Folder
Type of copy paste the following:
/Library/Internet Plug-Ins
Click Go. If you see this file: AdobePDFViewer.plugin
Drag it to the Trash, empty the Trash.
Quit and relaunch Safari. -
Safari no longer shows the browser when I open it. No magnifying glass. Where has it gone?
My Father-in-law used my computer yesterday and now when I open Safari it no longer shows the magnifying glass/browser. I have tried to restore from backup and reinstalling but these do not work. It seems as though he did something to turn disable it. I know I know "ours is not to reason why.." But how do I get it back? Thanks.

I have the preview pane active when selecting PDF Documents. When I open a PDF document I am unable to save any changes. the error message I receive:
"The documents could not be saved. The file ma be read-only,or another user may have it open. Please save the document with a different name of in a different folder"
The document is not read only and no other user has it open. If I turn the preview pane OFF there is no problem saving changes. I have also un-installed Adobe Reader.
Other programs (such as Excel, Word) do not experience the same problems as the PDF documents.

It sounds like you just need to associate the PDF filename extension with Acrobat, rather than Preview. Please see this document from the Microsoft Help for instructions on choosing the default program for opening a particular file type (in your case, PDF): Change which programs Windows uses by default - Windows Help

emails won't open on Mac but will on laptop and iPhone. On Mac can see the subject heading but the rest is blank in both preview pane and if I try to open the emai. Can anyone help me?

How can I get the magnifying glass in Preview to work?
I have the problem that the magnifying glass in Preview is simply a grey circle. It's not magnifying anything. Does anyone of you know where the problem is? How can I get it to work? Deleting the .plist files in the Prefs didn't do the trick. Thank you very much.
I don't believe there is such a thing on the Mac Pro (trash can), but I did finally get something to work with a not-very-instinctive combination of System Preferences (select USB mic), Audio MiDi Setup (select USB mic), and Premier Pro Preferences, Audio Hardware (DO NOT select the USB mic, but rather the System Default Input/Output). No other combination worked (I tried them all), and when I tried changing Audio MiDi settings while Premier Pro was running, I'd occasionally get the endless spinning wheel that required a re-start. Even with all this, one channel was peaked-out with noise (source?) which I couldn't eliminate with any settings (can do it in post, however). Overall a disappointing experience. I don't know why the Audio MiDi Setup has to be involved, or why this was so difficult with my set-up (I'm not ruling out user error).
Any further advice is more than welcome,
