'Group your Tabs' page gets scrambled + unresponsive script

I have around 12 groups of tabs in FF8.0.1. on w XP. When I switch to the 'Group your tabs' page, the tab groups are often shifted around, often stacked so that one hides several. Boxes may be resized. Then, an 'Unresponsive Script' box is likely to appear, and reappear after clicking Continue or Stop. While a box is present I cannot (of course) click on a tab group to open it, so it takes quick work to unearth and click on a tab group box before another unresponsive script box appears. The messsage in the box usually refers to a chrome: link (I don't have Chrome), sometimes a resource: link
Any explanation/work round/solution

Now the 'Group your Tabs' button does not work, I can't swap groups, and on restarting all unactive tabs show about:Tabs rather than the web page title - the only clue as to what is what is the icon.

  • Firefox initally opens fine , but when I try to open another tab Firefox hangs or I get an unresponsive script message

    firefox initally opens fine right to my homepage. Then a few minutes later it starts hanging and I cannot scroll or do anything until it connects. Similarly when I try to open a new tab, the new tab either hangs forever, or I get an unresponsive script error message. I have tried resetting firefox and starting firefox in safe mode. nothing seems to help.

  • I'm constantly getting the "unresponsive script" warning, what can I do to prevent or resolve the issue?

    == Issue
    ==
    I have another kind of problem with Firefox
    == Description
    ==
    Every time I open a site I get the "unresponsive script" warning. Then randomly throughout my web surfing. It's a constant occurrence. In fact, I've yet to go a single session without receiving a warning. For several days I was logging each message by using print screen, then saving under paint. If these are required to rectify this issue, I'd gladly send them.

    You might have a bad add-on, or you could have a virus on your computer. Try starting [http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Safe+Mode Safe Mode] and check "Disable all add-ons". If that works, it's a faulty add-on. Or if it's a virus, download [http://free.avg.com AVG Free] and scan your computer.

  • I keep on getting this unresponsive script error "Script: chrome://greasemonkey/content/prefmanager.js:55" . I have tried to update everything and it still showing that error and then crashing. What can I do?

    I am running Facebook and leaving it on..when I come back to it or sometimes when i am using it i get this Unresponsive Script Error - Script: chrome://greasemonkey/content/prefmanager.js:55. If i click continue or stop it will go away but many times the page is frozen so i have to restart Firefox. I am not using Chrome so i am surprised about that part of the error. I have read the other posting and have tried to change the time under config......can't remember the rest and it has not worked. Please advise what else i can do.

    In Firefox the use of the term chrome refers to the user interface and other elements that are not part of the web pages.

    Your problems seems to be caused by the GreaseMonkey extension.<br />

  • How do I disable 'group your tabs' feature?

    I must have hit the 'group your tabs' feature by mistake and now I can't get it to stop grouping my tabs. I really hate this feature, don't want to use it because I don't want them grouped and for the life of me, can't figure out how to shut the darned thing down now!!
    I have restarted, disabled and reenabled all of my addons, renamed the localstore file and still can't find a way to stop it.
    I'm guessing there might be a switch in the about:config area, but I don't want to mess with that unless I have instructions.
    Please help...

    Go to Customise Toolbar and drag group tab back onto list of toolbar icons.

    ''hi John, i can not see, how many sites are open, because i do not see the tabs! i am sorry but i do not know how to explain it:( I see a window with my bookmarks -toolbar, menu bar and navigation bar, but no tabs for the sites, i am on! thank you for taking time and answering! ''
    What happens when you open a new tab for instance use Keyboard shortcut Ctrl +T does that open a new tab that you can see. Please attach a screenshot of your ordinary Firefox page e.g. open on this forum. And a screenshot of the Group Your tabs view.

  • Every time I donwload anything, I get an unresponsive script.

    Since installing Lion OSX, every time I download anything, I get an unresponsive script.

    Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of your add-ons is causing your problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).
    See [[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]] and [[Troubleshooting plugins]]
    If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all your extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.
    You can use "Disable all add-ons" on the [[Safe mode]] start window to disable all extensions.
    You have to close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (Mac: "Firefox > Quit"; Linux: "File > Quit")

  • FF 7.0.1 on Mac OSX 10.6.8: I sometimes get the "unresponsive script" dialog box in the top left corner of the screen, so far out that I can see only the bottom right corner of the dialog box. Is there any way of re-centring it?

    FF 7.0.1 on MacOSX 10.6.8 (not this machine!): I sometimes get the "unresponsive script" dialog box jammed into the top left corner of the screen so that only a quarter of it is visible.
    Is there a way of re-centring the dialog box (in particular, when its top edge is off the screen)?
    Thanks!

    There is no way to preserve view preferences.Just remember or annotate the zoom % used in the package.
    You may want to open an MS Connect item asking to add such a feature.
    I can tell you it may not be implemented because a package may be opened on different size monitors.

    Firefox has crashed numerous times on me tonight, and I keep getting an unresponsive script error (Script: chrome://devany/content/main.js:254) regardless of what website I'm on. NoScript will not block this script, and it's popping up with an increasing and alarming frequency. It's completely crippled my Firefox, and getting the a large enough window between unresponsive script warnings to get the Troubleshooting Information from Firefox took me a good 20 minutes. It's a very persistent script. I've already re-installed Firefox and restarted my computer, and scanned for viruses/malware. I'm on a Mac, if it makes a difference.

  • I am getting this unresponsive script message when googling and its causing firefox to freeze "chrome:/wrc/content/common/scripts/bal.js:854" - Any advice?

    When I try an google certain web sites including "NFL" firefox freezes and I get the unresponsive script chrome:/wrc/content/common/scripts/bal.js:854". I uninstalled Google Chrome but still have the same problem.

    Thanks to philipp: I disabled the avast addon (from) when I updated to avast 9.0.2008, and the unresponsive script has stopped freezing firefox during google searches.
    PS, I added this addon in it's place, Trustwave SecureBrowsing: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/m86security-secure-browsing/eula/224305?src=search
    It's not too bad, and seems to be more thorough than the avast addon.
    I also use the web of trust (WOT) addon.

  • How do I save a Group Your Tabs Window? When I create a fresh Group Your Tabs Window it goes away when I close Firefox.

    I am currently beta testing Firefox 4.0. I love the Group Your Tabs option but every time I use it I loose what I have created when I close Firefox. How do I save my work?

    Hi,
    This is not a problem. You just have to go in options, in general tab -> start up options check the "Show my windows and tabs from last time"
    This should do the trick. It's not a beta bug or whatever. It's just a preference thing.
    Some people do not like having all their tabs opened from last time when they open the browser

    Another problem with the Firefox browser which shows the following message. " A script on this page may be busy, or it may have stopped responding. You can stop the script now, or you can continue to see if the script will complete.
    The following message, causing Firefox to be stuck and freezes, as is evident in the tab bar of Firefox.
    And I try to close some of the tab bar but is still unable to respond which means that I have to wait to be able to browse again.

    This sort of message can have many causes, and is often due to a problem site or problem add-on.
    * do you only get the message on specific sites, or when doing certain tasks ?
    *What is the actual message, is it the same each time ?
    * to see if the problem relates to additional software try Firefox in safe mode

It was better without Adobe Flash, but I still got the same warnings. but not as often. When I downloaded Adobe Flash I got all kinds of "Warning Unresponsive Scrips" pop ups again!
