Grouping movies like I do TV show episodes

On my iPod Touch I have lots of little home videos that are classified as "Movies". I would like to group them similar to how TV Shows are grouped. Other than classifying my home videos as "TV Shows", how would I go about doing this?

Apple TV grouping movies/TV shows

We recently bought a new Apple TV and I am trying to group movies like Harry Potter and TV programs into one folder. I have researched this online and got a hint that I should select the group of movies I want and command I and under the video tab and show line I entered what I wanted it to show. When I re-launched my Apple TV the folder isnt there. Also when I go back into the video tab the show button has now un selected itself. No other method has shown up. I hope this can be done. Any information would really help. Thankyou.

The playlists would be in the movie section, not in music.
Check you have video playlists enabled in settings.
Yes I'm disappointed there is no grouping of movies, with my home movies I have over a thousand movies and the list is too long without grouping, I'm also disappointed that TV shows are listed in groups of series instead of shows as was the case on the Apple TV 1, I have 19 series of one show and the list of TV shows is as awkward as movies.

Yes, you can add your own videos to iTunes, then sync them to your nano, subject to supported max resolution limit and file type. The specs for the 7th gen nano says (I don't know which nano model you have), Video Format Support

(earlier nanos have lower max resolution limits)
So, "HD" video is too high resolution, so iTunes will not sync such videos to the iPod (although they play in iTunes). If you are asking how to set up iTunes to sync videos in general (regardless of source), please post back.

Group movies

Hey,
I am new to AppleTV and have a new ATV2. I see how you can easily group TV shows togeather, but not movies.
For example, I have multiple James Bond movies, Batman movies, etc. Rather than seeing a list of every single movie that I have, is there any way with the ATV2 to be able to have Batman and James Bond to function more like a folder like it does with TV shows?
From what I have seen on the Internet, it looks as if this function does not exist and the only work arounds are marking everything as a TV show (from an organization standpoint this is counter productive); or, to make custom genres, creating a 'Star Wars' genre, and one for James Bond, etc however this removes the ability to have normal genres.

That is amazingly frustrating. Obviously they were able to get grouping systems to work with TV shows, so why not with movies? Is the idea that no movie will ever have a <insert movie> 2, 3 or more?
From what I have been reading, I am almost tempted to return my ATV2 and find an origonal. It seems like everybody got punished for getting the newer one. Every time I read about them, there seems to be a laundry list of features the origonal one had that the current one does not.
I guess dropping everything into TV shows is not such a big deal, it just bothers me to have everything there when movies are not TV shows. This results in the problem of having to explain how your devices work to every single person that ever happens to use it. Being simple, obvious, and intuitive are some of the features that brought me, and I am sure many others to Apple. It is usually worth paying a bit more for these luxuries. I would never have bought a Logitech Harmony remote if I had to explain how to use it to every single person that ever wanted to watch TV at my place.
While TV shows are not my main collection, I fully understand and agree with the frustration of not being able to put them into a single group. Why is the idea of a folder so complicated? isnt this understood down to the file allocation table level? Maybe this is the result of depending on iTunes far too much. If the ATV2 could just use a standard connection like SMB or DLNA, not only could I organize everything in folders the way I want to, but I would be able to stream from my NAS and not be absolutely forced into streaming from my desktop, which is the primary reason I bought my NAS is so I wouldnt have to.
It is already enough of a pain that I have to convert every single movie that I have since nobody can agree on what file types they want to support playing. Now i have to have 2 folders, one for the PS3 and one for the ATV2, creating 2x as much data as needed. If they dropped this iTunes requirement, we would be able to use 3rd party apps to convert on the fly.

Grouping Movies on Apple TV

I have a number of Movies that I have loaded into iTunes from a vacation in Norway.
When they get synced to the Apple TV they appear in the long alphabetical list of movies (which is getting quite long).
Is there a way of grouping them in iTunes so that when the appear on the Apple TV you get sub menus (like it works on TV Shows).
I would like a 'Norway' item in the Movies list, once selected I would then see all my Norway movies.
I have tried giving them the same Artist Name, Album Name, Show Name etc, etc, but I can't seem to get the items to group together.
Any ideas?

Sorry but Playlists are not supported in the 'Movies' part of the Apple TV.
All you get is one great long list of movies, there is no way to group them (you can in TV shows)
What I have done is rename the movies to have grouping as part of the name e.g.
Norway - Begen
Norway - Tromso
Norway - Trondhiem
At least that way they all appear together in the list

I think mine are all still in alphabetical order, but :
* movies I deleted from my library and told "hide this purchase in the cloud" are showing up again. If I try to play them, I get the "cannot find the file in its proper location, would you like to locate it" error message.
* for movies that have "iTunes Extras," the extras show up as a separate item, with another copy of the movie artwork. Most of these I believe I had DELETED the "iTunes Extras" anyway.
* Items are showing up multiple times.
* A few MUSIC ALBUMS are listed in my Movies section.
* Some movies (I believe ones that I deleted off my HD but are still in the cloud) are showing random album covers instead of their proper artwork.
* Just rented a movie, and it didn't show up anywhere in my library. It downloaded properly and completely, was in a suitably labeled folder in my iTunes/Media/Movies section, but didn't show up in any section of the library (or via a library search). Had to manually find it and tell it to open the file using iTunes.
Running the latest version, even checked for updates. No other changes made lately since the last round of apple software updates. This was wonky before the latest small update to iTunes - now it's even wonkier. And it is very, VERY effing annoying.

Restricted Group as like as domain admins

I have configure Restricted Group in GPO in mydomains.com.
So I added a group called 'ABC_Support' and on the second box (This is group is a member of) was Administrators.
in ABC_Support group, there is one user called 'tech_admin'.
Result: GPO was successfully pushed into workstations, and ABC_Support is a member of local administrators and tech_admin can able to administer the workstations.
Problem: The problem is that, in domain controller, you will see the ABC_Support is also a member of built-in Administrators. The tech_admin is able to access domain controller remotely and can create users and really like domain admins.
Is there any solutions that prevent the problem? and is this behaviour is normal? is restricted group designed like that? I know there is a GPO under user configuration "local users and group".

As others suggested, please make sure that the Restricted Groups setting was not applied to domain controllers. To do this, we can link the GPO to the OU where all workstations reside, or we can use security filtering or WMI filter to filter out domain
controllers if we link the GPO to the domain scope.
Besides, as you know, instead of Restricted Groups, we can also use Group Policy Preferences Local Users and Groups extension to make a domain user a local admin. In this way, we can use GPP item-level targeting to apply our settings to specific targets.

I have applied the GPO of ABC_support (restricted group) with WMI filtering and it is not applied to domain controller. On Domain controllers OU, I made another GPO to deny this group to remote desktop and login locally so that the group will not able to
do unexpected activity.
However, I found that that the "\\mydomaincontrollers\Anydrive$ such as \\c$" can be accessible from workstations ou. If I deny the terminal service in GPO on Domains abc.local, it will apply to all computers and shared folders '\\servers\example' cannot
be accessible if I deny login through terminal services. why is that? suppose network and shared map folder use different ports and remote desktop/terminal service use different ports.
there are lot of thousands workstations in computerOU with different child domains and parent domains as well I need to manage. so it's really hard for me to move to another ou.
please advise

Availability of TV show episodes from Irish iTunes

Anyone any idea how to download tv show episodes if you have an Irish account? The link seems to only be on the USA sites. I know licensing etc wont allow current ones to be downloaded, but I was hoping to access some old episodes of like CSI etc.

Sorry, but you can't. The owners of the shows have not yet allowed Apple to sell any shows, new or old, anywhere outside of the US. If or when this will ever be allowed, no one here knows or can say.

Grouping Seasons of the same TV Shows together

Is there a way to group season of the same TV Show together. iTunes/Apple TV does a great job of grouping episodes into seasons, but they do not group those seasons into one show.

they should group together, but there is a known bug with the appletv software that doesn't group them. hopefully it will be resolved in the next software version.

Group By Like Dates????

does anyone know if there is a way to group by like dates?
so if there were 10 transaction records in a table, 5 in Oct and 5 in Nov. but not all transactions took place on the same day.
Eg:
DATE AMOUNT
15-OCT-02 1.50
16-OCT-02 115.00
17-NOV-02 200.00
24-NOV-02 99.00
and so on. is there a way i can group the dates together so i can get only one record for each month so it would look like this? i dont need the date displayed

but i have one more question.
what i am doing is joining two tables by account number one holds the account_name and the other holds the transaction ammount, and i need to have the ammount displayed based on the month that the user inputs. but if there is no transaction for a given month it comes up no rows selected.
what i would like is to display the account name and if there is no transaction for a given month then have the ammount show 0.00. right now only the accounts that have transactions for the given month come up.

How do I create a movie like this one?

I have OS X 10.6.1. I'd like to create a QuickTime movie like this http://www.happytapper.com/appsmovie.html and embed it into a webpage the same way. Here are a few questions I have about doing that:
- Do I need Quicktime Pro? I only want to capture the iPhone simulator and the free version seems to be limited to full screen capture.
- How do you get a completely black background like that?
- How do you remove the mouse arrow out of the movie (all the clicking around)? The simulator will definitely show that.

Downloaded tv show episodes. Bought the entire season and after watching one and downloaded first 4-5 they disappeared. This was during the time I was trying to migrate stuff from an older mac mini. Help?

I downloaded several episodes of the tv show "touch." I purchased the entire season and had watched one show. It took quite some time for each show to download, but I had downloaded 4-5.
About this time (within the last two weeks) I was trying to use migration assistant to migrate information from my older mac mini and my macbook. while I was able to move things from my older mac mini I noticed that the tv show went missing.
Also I purchased a program called 'Touched" in a season pass. After I downloaded a couple of episodes I watched one and continued to download the episodes as they were available.
I also purchased a program called "Tune Up" which elminates duplicates of iTunes songs. I have a large collection and this helped to get rid of the duplicates faster than clicking on them one at a time. Maybe this had something to do with the tv shows episodes and the podcasts disapeering.
Any ideas?

As far as the TV series being in 1080p then that is upto the content provider and some older seasons are in 720p or only SD eg Stargate
It may well be that the season you want is only available in 720p

Sending group emails as BCC not to show up as Spam

When I send an email blast to my groups using Blind Copy (BCC), it shows in the recipient's email as spam. Is there a way to send so it is received as a normal email without showing all the recipient's info??

I totally agree, I am not going to discredit your comment as everyone is entitled to their opinion as I am BUT, I will not bad mouth other members, especially since may have not have written my initial statement in a logical manner so Ill try and answer them in order to your response.
1. I DO LIKE iTunes in general and on the whole BUT I dislike the new update, iTunes 11, it has completely buggered everything up.
2. Prior to the update, everything worked brilliantly, including Apple TV. It was user friendly and was easy to use. The new update is counter-intuative and is hard to find, fix anything and as I have had to find out at my cost, reset my Apple TV and start downloading all over again. So let me reaffirm, it is iTunes11 I find hard to fathom, not the old iTunes.
3. No I am not a developer but I have been using PC's for over 20 years so I do know how one works.
4. Good Question about who would help me, again, it is someones opinion against someone elses. One day, I may write something that generally people agree with, another they may not, depends on the subject.
5. " I do not love Apple" ?yet I have an iPhone 4s, iPad and Apple TV, find that an illogical comment!
6. I have made a General Search on the forums on the subject and the general consensus is that the new update is one update to far.
7. Oh, I am not a genius otherwise I would have solved the issue in the first place!
Just to re-iterate, I am not bad mouthing Apple in general, all I am saying is that iTunes 11 is one update to far and I am not the only one saying it.... some have gone a lot further than I have, again, their opinion and who am I to argue with them as I have an opnion as you do and I will most deffinatly not bad mouth a member because I disagree with them for the above reason, debate it, yes, not belittle them.

Once you buy a Tv episode it's like buying a song, you own it and can play it as many times as you want. Not only that, you can delete it and download it again later, it'll be with your other past purchases in your account.
