Grouping of files in the file system
hi all,
i am using Forms [32 Bit] Version 6.0.8.24.1 (Production).
with the help of host command i am uploading any type of files from user specified location to specified directory.
My requirement is like the files should be grouped wile saving to the specified directory. But how the grouping can be done?
Please advice me on the grouping. on what basis grouping of files can be done and how we can access them?
Please advise.
Thanks..
hi Christian,
and basing on what condidtion should files be "grouped"? Care to add an example on what this "grouping" is supposed to do?right now i am storing all the files in specified directory.
For example if i am having 500 files with different file types. How user can be identified which file for what. To over come this problem grouping should be done.(purpose)
So in the form i should provide provision to create the group.
Please give me ideas how grouping can be done on the files?(the grouping can be of any logic).
note: user cannot the create directories of his own. otherwise we can store files in these specified directories.
Please help.
thanks..

Tab groups disappear after rebooting the operating system
I've customized some tab groups.
Then I close the FireFox (FF) in this way: Button FF in the upper left corner - > Exit. Then I open the FireFox - and I can see all my customized tab groups.
So, the problem is...
When I reboot my computer and then open the FireFox, all my tabs which were in tab groups are shown only in one window! So that I see only one tab group, where there are all tabs, which were in those groups.Which security software (firewall, anti-virus) do you have?
Some security software has virtualization or sandbox features that may cause problems by protecting and restoring files in the Firefox profile folder.
App (pinned) tabs and Tab Groups (Panorama) are stored as part of the session data in the sessionstore.js file in the Firefox profile folder.
*https://support.mozilla.org/kb/restore-previous-session
Make sure that you do not use "Clear Recent History" to clear the "Browsing History" when Firefox is closed because that prevails and prevents Firefox from opening tabs from the previous session.

Cluster File system local to Global
I need to convert a local High available file system to a global file system. The client needs to share data within the cluster and the solution i offered him was this.
Please let me know if there is a better way to do this. The servers are running 2 failover resource NFS resource groups sharing file systems to clients. Currently the filesystems are configured as HAStoragePlus file systems.
ThanksTim, thanks much for your reply. I will doing this as a global file system. Currently, the HA file systems are shared out from only one node and I intend to keep it that way. The only difference is i will make the local HA file systems as global.
I was referring the sun cluster concepts guide which mentions
http://docs.sun.com/app/docs/doc/820-2554/cachcgee?l=en&a=view
"A cluster file system to be highly available, the underlying disk storage must be connected to more than one node. Therefore, a local file system (a file system that is stored on a node's local disk) that is made into a cluster file system is not highly available"
I assume i need to remove the file systems from hastp and make them as global? Please let me know if the understanding is correct...
Thanks again. -
Diferent password expiration days for different users in the same system.
Hi sdn gurus,
We need to configure different password expiration days for different groups of users in the same system.
We know how to configure the system to define a password expiration time for the complete system (parameter login/password_expiration_time), but we must configure some expiration time to a group of users and another expiration time to another one in the SAME system.
Somebody know a way to do this?
Thanks in advance for your help!!!Hi Sunny,
Thanks for your reply!!!
We know the parameter is for the complete system ... but we are trying to find out if exist another way to define diferent passwrod expiration days, to diferent group of users (may be with an additional system parameters or UME configuration).
Thanks to all for your help. -
How to use FTP_COMMAND to put a file in the target system
Hi All,
I have the requirement to put an excel file from apllication server to another remote system for this i am using the function modules
1) FTP_CONNECT to connect to the sourece as well as the destination systems --- Here i am able to hit the both systems.
2) for sending the data to the target system i am using FTP_COMMAND by passing the 'put' statement along with the soruce and destinations for the command parameter.
See the bellow code
CONCATENATE 'put' v_fname '
' 'wbrs1\' folder
into cmd separated by space.
CALL FUNCTION 'FTP_COMMAND'

and wbrs1 is the target system and 'Waynesboro DFS' is the folder name i ma passing to the command .
Also I tried with the following statement
CONCATENATE 'put' v_fname '

Here v_name is the file path and name in the application server suppose say :
/usr/sap/TD2/DVEBMGS01/work/TD2_20060901_1008_WAY-LY.XLS,
Dhost is wbrs1.wb.na.webdti.com
And Waynesboro DFS is the folder .
Here i am getting the error as invalid argument.
See the bellow messages from result internal table.
put /usr/sap/TD2/DVEBMGS01/work/TD2_20060901_1008_WAY-LY.XLS

Please let me know how i can resolve this problem and how can I put this file in the destination system.
Thanks in advance.

DESCRIPTION : Phoneix Account Reconcilation Program-Feed
Balance sheet account balances from GL
3 files needed to be enhanced. The files are " Master
Attribute File" & "Transaction File(GL Balance)". For
Master Attribute File, data needs to be retrieved from
T001, ZDATSRC_T, SKA1, T003, T856. The corresponding
data from all the tables is downloaded into file
according to the condition specified. For Transaction
File, data needs to be retrieved from ZGEIST based on
Ledger(GG), Record Type(0), Fiscal Year, Period(016).
Then the current period is used to determine which TSLxx
& KSLxx needs to be used. Also, the conditions are
specified in specs which have been used accordingly.
The final data fetched will need to processed as files
which neednot be downloaded to Presentation/Application
server. Instead the files are been FTPed to the
Informatica Server using FTP. The location where the
files need to be located is ERC\GLOBALSAP.

File system task error ; Access to the path " " is denied
HI All,
I have created a simple package to copy xml files from multiple source folders to destination folder.
Folder names and paths are stored in a sql table. I use execute sql taks to get folder and path names. set the restult set to full result set in the execute sql task.
Then for each loop is used to loop through each file name. File system taks is inside the for each loop. Destination vairable and source varable were created and assigned them inthe file system task.
But I am getting an error message.
[File System Task] Error: An error occurred with the following error message: "Access to the path '\\cor\Groups\DN\Share2\Servicing \RESPONSE_FILES\Services' is denied.".
But I am able to do this if i design the package to move just one file. i.e without using variables. I get the error message only when I use variables.
Can anyone tell me how to fix this please?
Thanks
shamenHow to give the access please.

Login using a sysadmin account
Go to the folder right click security and you've the option to add new account. You should give account write access if you want to copy files to folder.

My MSDN Page
My Personal Blog
My Facebook Page -
Hello,
Title pretty much states it all. I initially set out (as part of a Security Forensics initiative) to identify the most recently installed applications, modified files, and registry key changes using PowerShell. I attempted to pull this information and sort
them by date installed/last modified, but it was brought to my attention this information isn't always present and can be modified - so it's not accurate.
At that time it was suggested we use Group Policy auditing for Registry and File System - but I'm not sure how I'm going to use/pull these in PowerShell? This will be used on remote host all over the world so local physical access isn't an option.
My question is:
Once Group Policy Auditing for Registry and File System has been enabled, how would I go about pulling those audit logs for review once a system has been identified as compromised? I'm brand new to this GP Auditing (we have a separate team for that) so feel
free to take it from the beginning. :)
Thanks in advance!Hi,
Here are a few suggestions for you:
Ensure Remote Registry service is started on local and remote machines.
Add the – Credential option and supply administrative credentials within the command.

Difference between ASM Disk Group, ADVM Volume and ACFS File system
Q1. What is the difference between an ASM Disk Group and an ADVM Volume ?
To my mind, an ASM Disk Group is effectively a logical volume for Database files ( including FRA files ).
11gR2 seems to have introduced the concepts of ADVM volumes and ACFS File Systems.
An 11gR2 ASM Disk Group can contain :
ASM Disks
ADVM volumes
ACFS file systems
Q2. ADVM volumes appear to be dynamic volumes.
However is this therefore not effectively layering a logical volume ( the ADVM volume ) beneath an ASM Disk Group ( conceptually a logical volume as well ) ?
Worse still if you have left ASM Disk Group Redundancy to the hardware RAID / SAN level ( as Oracle recommend ), you could effectively have 3 layers of logical disk ? ( ASM on top of ADVM on top of RAID/SAN ) ?
Q3. if it is 2 layers of logical disk ( i.e. ASM on top of ADVM ), what makes this better than 2 layers using a 3rd party volume manager ( eg ASM on top of 3rd party LVM ) - something Oracle encourages against ?
Q4. ACFS File systems, seem to be clustered file systems for non database files including ORACLE_HOMEs, application exe's etc ( but NOT GRID_HOME, OS root, OCR's or Voting disks )
Can you create / modify ACFS file systems using ASM.
The oracle toplogy diagram for ASM in the 11gR2 ASM Admin guide, shows ACFS as part of ASM. I am not sure from this if ACFS is part of ASM or ASM sits on top of ACFS ?
Q5. Connected to Q4. there seems to be a number of different ways, ACFS file systems can be created ? Which of the below are valid methods ?
through ASM ?
through native OS file system creation ?
through OEM ?
through acfsutil ?
my head is exploding
Any help and clarification greatly appreciated
JimQ1 - ADVM volume is a type of special file created in the ASM DG. Once created, it creates a block device on the OS itself that can be used just like any other block device. http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E16655_01/server.121/e17612/asmfilesystem.htm#OSTMG30000
Q2 - the asm disk group is a disk group, not really a logical volume. It combines attributes of both when used for database purposes, as the database and certain other applications know how to talk "ASM" protocol. However, you won't find any general purpose applications that can do so. In addition, some customers prefer to deal directly with file systems and volume devices, which ADVM is made to do. In your way of thinking, you could have 3 layers of logical disk, but each of them provides different attributes and characteristics. This is not a bad thing though, as each has a slightly different focus - os file system\device, database specific, and storage centric.
Q3 - ADVM is specifically developed to extend the characteristics of ASM for use by general OS applications. It understands the database performance characteristics and is tuned to work well in that situation. Because it is developed in house, it takes advantage of the ASM design model. Additionally, rather than having to contact multiple vendors for support, your support is limited to calling Oracle, a one-stop shop.
Q4 - You can create and modify ACFS file systems using command line tools and ASMCA. Creating and modifying logical volumes happens through SQL(ASM), asmcmd, and ASMCA. EM can also be used for both items. ACFS sits on top of ADVM, which is a file in an ASM disk group. ACFS is aware of the characteristics of ASM\ADVM volumes, and tunes it's IO to make best use of those characteristics.
Q5 - several ways:
1) Connect to ASM with SQL, use 'alter diskgroup add volume' as Mihael points out. This creates an ADVM volume. Then, format the volume using 'mkfs' (*nix) or acfsformat (windows).
2) Use ASMCA - A gui to create a volume and format a file system. Probably the easiest if your head is exploding.
3) Use 'asmcmd' to create a volume, and 'mkfs' to format the ACFS file system.
Here is information on ASMCA, with examples:

Maown - file system monitor for shared group directories
Maown Info Page
I needed a way to manage ownership and permissions of files in a shared directory. ACLs and "chmod g+s" alone were not enough so I wrote maown.
Maown is a file system monitor written in C. It uses inotify to recursively watch a directory tree for file creation and attribute modification. It automatically chowns files to user:group and adjusts group permissions to match user permissions.
The package includes a daemon with a simple configuration file. Each line in the configuration file specifies a user, a group and a list of directories to monitor:
<user> <group> <directory> [<directory>...]

Please helpI have Oralce 11g Database RAC Setup with 2 nodes node1 and node2 , ASM not enabled , Windows OS 2003 , I have shared storage (G, H and O ) My system administrator add additional SAN Storage (R) to my setup, how can I add the new disk to disk group. If ASM is not enabled that mean, Database is running on normal file system?
Hi thanks for you help.,,, But my system admnistrator already did thies steps,... I think my question was not clear enough

after running permission repair i get the following msg. anyone know how to fix this?
Warning: SUID file “System/Library/CoreServices/RemoteManagement/ARDAgent.app/Contents/MacOS/ARDAg ent” has been modified and will not be repaired. As long as the report ends up with 'Permissions repair complete' then, as far as permissions go, you are fine. You can ignore the various statements in the report:
Permissions you can ignore on 10.5 onwards:
http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1448
Using 'should be -rw-r--r-- , they are lrw-r--r--' as an example, you will see the that the permissions are not changed, but the | indicates a different location. This is because an update to Leopard onwards changed the location of a number of system components.
Poster rccharles has provided this description of what it all means:
drwxrwxrwx
d = directory
r = read
w = write
x = executeable program
drwxrwxrwx
| | |
| | all other users not in first two types
| |
| group
|
owner
a little more info
Before the user had read & write. A member of the group had read.
After, only the user had read & write. -
How to get access to the local file system when running with Web Start
I'm trying to create a JavaFX app that reads and writes image files to the local file system. Unfortunately, when I run it using the JNLP file that NetBeans generates, I get access permission errors when I try to create an Image object from a .png file.
Is there any way to make this work in Netbeans? I assume I need to sign the jar or something? I tried turning "Enable Web Start" on in the application settings, and "self-sign by generated key", but that made it so the app wouldn't launch at all using the JNLP file.Same as usual as with any other web start app : sign the app or modify the policies of the local JRE. Better sign the app with a temp certificate.
As for the 2nd error (signed app does not launch), I have no idea as I haven't tried using JWS with FX 2.0 yet. Try to activate console and loggin in Java's control panel options (in W7, JWS logs are in c:\users\<userid>\appdata\LocalLow\Sun\Java\Deployment\log) and see if anything appear here.
Anyway JWS errors are notoriously not easy to figure out and the whole technology in itself is temperamental. Find the tool named JaNeLA on the web it will help you analyze syntax error in your JNLP (though it is not aware of the new syntax introduced for FX 2.0 and may produce lots of errors on those) and head to the JWS forum (Java Web Start & JNLP Andrew Thompson who dwells over there is the author of JaNeLA). -
I was trying to create a Crystal Reports XI report to return security permissions of files and folders. I have been able to successfully connect and return data using the File System Data driver as the Data Source; however the String limit on the ACL NT Security Field is 255 characters. The full string of data to be returned can be much longer than the 255 limit and I cannot find how to manipulate that parameter.
I am currently on Crystals XI and Crystal XI R2 and have applied the latest service packs but still see the issue. My Crystal Reports Database DLL for File System data ( crdb_FileSystem.dll ) is at Product Version 11.5.10.1263.
Is it possible to change string limits when using the File System Data driver as the Data Source? If so, how can that be accomplished. If not, is there another method to retrieve information with the Windows File System Data being the Data Source? Meaning, could I reach my end game objective of reporting on the Windows ACL's with Crystal through another method?Hello,
This is a known issue. Early versions you could not create folder structures longer than 255 characters. With the updates to the various OS's this is now possible but CR did not allocate the same space required.
It's been tracked as an enhancement - ADAPT01174519 but set for a future release.
There are likely other ways of getting the info and then putting it into an Excel file format and using that as the data source.
I did a Google search and found this option: http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/16772-45-display-explorer-folders-tree-structure-export-excel
There are tools out there to do this kind of thing....
Thank you
Don
Note the reference to msls.exe appears to be a trojan: http://www.greatis.com/appdata/d/m/msls.exe.htm so don't install it.

I have been trying to increase my disk space for windows xp on my Imac and I am running parallels 6. before opening windows I go into configure in parallels and open the hard drive and try to move the allotted disk space from 32 gig to 64 or any other increased gig and then apply and I get the error message: resizing failed unable to resize last volume. The file system of this volume might be damaged or not supported. How do I increase the size?? I just also did a disk repair utility with Apple on the Apple side of my IMAC. Please Help!! I had uninstalled SQL server on the windows side and needed to uncompress files to install this and then I ran short on disk space.
This sounds to me that your Parallels XP file system is corrupted and not the OSX file system.
Have you checked the XP file system while running the Parallels XP yet ?
However, it would be better to ask such question in the Parallels Forum http://forum.parallels.com/
