Grouping Songs by Album in New Views

In the new Cover Browser view, I have some songs that will not group as an album. Even though they have the same album name and same album art, iTunes puts each song as it's own album. What is the flag that makes the new views group songs as albums?
iBook   Mac OS X (10.4.1)   iTunes

It's easier than that. Select all the song in the album, then select Get Info (or Apple-I), then change the Compilation drop down (bottom left) to "Yes".
This will group the album correctly, without having to blow away the artist info.

  • How can I view Artwork on iTunes for 1 or 3 songs per Album?

So, I am on my iTunes. On the previous Version of iTunes, you can have the list of Albums and view at the same time the Artwork whether it was for 10, 20 songs or even just 1 song. With the new version, there are four icons on the Upper Right where you can view "Cover Flow", "Album Covers", "Detailed List", "Detail List with Album Artwork"...
When I click on the "Detail List with Album Artwork" and I want to view the Artwork for those albums that I only have 1, 3, or just 5 songs, I cannot view the Artwork. I can only view the Artwork (if for example) those with more then 10 songs.
How can I view the Artwork at the same time as with those that I am able to?

I can only view the Artwork (if for example) those with more then 10 songs.
iTunes menu View > Aways show artwork.
iTunes defaults to show artwork for albums with 5 or more songs.

  • Touch list album song in album art view

I have gotten all of my albums to be catagorized by album artist and album name, except for one. The album artist shows fine(The Eagles) the second line in the album art view is a song (Busy being fabulous) this is the third song on the first disk. The the next line is the ablum name (Long Road Out of Eden (Disk 1). The listing under the album art looks like this:
    The Eagles
    Busy being fabulous
Long Road Out Of Eden (Disk 1)
How do I get the song name out of there? Disk two of the same album shows perfectly fine with no song name in between. All of my other albums show fine also. When I select all of the songs from the album and go to Get Info the song name shows no where.

See my previous post on Grouping Tracks Into Albums, in particular the topics Use an album friendly view and One album, too many covers. In this case it sounds like you may need to enable the *Group Compilations* option and/or ensure the tracks are marked as Part of a Compilation.

  • How do I get albums out of "compilations'?  On one of my machined I can go to individual songs, "get info" and uncheck "part of a compilation", but that does not work on my office machine.  I would also like to be able to do this in  a group for an album,

I don't know how so much of my music got lost by being labled "compilations"?  I would like to go back and catagorize it as it should be but the screens are gray and will not let me alter them as to the catagory I wish them to be in (or even the genere they are already labled?  On my home machine I can (by individual song) "get info and uncheck "part of a compilation" and when this is finished the album goes to the genere as it is listed?  Frustrating bit of hous keeping.  Help and Thanks  Chuck

The Get Info. fields show up gray if the files is locked and iTunes knows it can't edit the file. Make sure the files are not marked as read only and, if necessary grant both your account and system full access to all files and subfolders of your media folder.
You can set Part of a Compilation for multiple tracks from the Options tab of Get Info.

  • Is there any possible way to set your itunes to just show the album name without the songs included in the album in artist view. and then be able to select the album to expand all the songs. this would be ideal as I have many albums under certain artists

I use to use windows media player. The layout was great. It would have icons (one of the album artwork inside the folder) for the artists. you could click on the artist and it would have the icons for all of the albums (similar to itunes) however it would not have all the songs included in that album listed underneath or within it. you had to click on the icon for the album to go into that particular album to view the songs. In my personal opinion this was much easier to search for a particular album especially if you had many albums under one artist as I do. I collect live concert recordings for several particular bands. It would be really nice if itunes would allow you to contract the songs names within each album under artist view and have some way to exand them or open a seperate album folder when clicking on the album name through artist view. is this even possible. does anyone know a way to allow this is happen. you would make a serious music collector very happy. I know this is a crazy request but for people who are serious music collectors like myself with over a TB of music it is much easier to consolidate each individual album under each individual artist for faster searching/viewing needs

You are describing an iTunes problem, not an iPod touch problem. Try posing in the iTunes forum.

In iTunes, go to File>Add File to Library or File>Add Folder to Library.

  • Sort by grouping whilst seeing ALL album art (list view)

I recently bought all of the ABBA albums *The Albums (Bonus Track Version) [Remastered]* which unfortunately all have the same album name and the individual albums are denoted using grouping...
Is there any way to view all the albums with their separate album covers in list view or am I going to have to edit the album info...?

Two and a half years on, the album artist feature is still not supported by iPods? What the ****? Is this even on a 'todo' list at Apple?
I'm really happy with iTunes, the album artist feature is a godsend, but seriously, why can't iPods support it?
I quite agree... In the meantime you might find my previous post on Grouping Tracks Into Albums useful, it details workarounds for this and other quirks in the iTunes/iPod system.

  • Grouping songs into one album that are featuring someone else

Trying to clean up my iTunes library.  Some on my albums that I have ripped to my iMac have songs on the same album, but feature one or more other artist.  I'd like to find out the easiest way to get those songs into the same album group that they are from.  I've done one so far and edited the artist to just the original album artist, but I'd like to be able to see who else is on the track if possible.  Sort of knitpicking but that's me, thanks!!!

Quick answer:  Select all the tracks on the album, File > get info, and either give them all a single "album artist", or check the "compilation" flag (as in https://discussions.apple.com/message/17670085).  You can leave the artist there. Album artist will force it to sort by that.
If these are from multiple-CD sets you may also need to enter the appropriate information in the disc number fields.

  • HT1473 how do i group songs from one album

Sometimes when dowloading a cd to Itunes instead of showing up as one album with all the songs it places the songs that have the artist featuring in another album by itself. how do i tell itunes these are all apart of the same album?

Generally all you need to do is fill in appropriate Album and Album Artist fields. For more details see my article on Grouping Tracks Into Albums, in particular the topic One album, too many covers and, if necessary, the two following sections.

  • Why won't iTunes group songs from a compilation album together

Most of my CDs are compilation trance CDs.  iTunes ignores the facts that they all come from the same album and groups them by composer instead, forcing me to create playlists for songs that should be grouped together.  This occurs even for albums purchased as albums from the iTunes store.  Am I doing something wrong, or is this just poor programming?

Generally setting a common Album title and Album Artist will fix things.
For compilation albums set Album Artist to Various Artists and Part of a compilation to Yes.
For deeper problems see Grouping tracks into albums.

  • Is it possible to group songs from different albums?

Can I create a copilation ALBUM out of songs from different albums, which are already in the iTunes Library (I mean without changing the album name for each song) ? Or, if possible, without making duplicates. It sounds more like linking songs together in compilation albums. Kinda like creating playlists that are actually albums... compilations. Is it possible?

In iTunes each track can only be in one album. If you want the same song to appear in multiple albums you'll need to make copies. An album in iTunes is any collection of tracks with the same album name and the same album artist (or marked as a compilation). Track order within an album is goverened by disc & track numbers.

  • How do I group songs under one album, please?

    OK, so I
iTunes works better than Windows media player for my set up with Windows 7 Ultimate .... BUT it 'took over' the Media Player library and put some tracks as separate entries - so, for example, I have one album of Rod Stewart in 6 different places, with tracks from the same album. I have tried everything I can think of, even deleting the whole album and starting again - frustratingly, same result. Can anyone help, please?

Generally all you need to do is fill in appropriate Album and Album Artist fields. For more details see my article on Grouping Tracks Into Albums, in particular the topic One album, too many covers and, if necessary, the two following sections.

  • I have downloaded my albums to new ipod (second one) but cannot download purchases. How do I do it?

I have downloaded my albums to new ipod (second one) but cannot download purchases. How do I do it?

If your iPod classic has enough storage capacity to hold your entire iTunes music library, here's one convenient way to do set it up to sync "everything" automatically, including any new changes.
First, if your iTunes sidebar (along left side of window) is not visible, from the menu bar, under View, select Show Sidebar.
Select the iPod in the sidebar, under DEVICES.  Near the top, there is a bar of buttons, starting with Summary.  Click on Music next to Summary.  This is the iPod's Music screen, where you tell iTunes how to sync songs to your iPod.
Check the box fo Sync Music.  NOTE:  If there are songs on the iPod that are not in your current iTunes library, those songs will be lost when you set up automatic syncing.  If this is a problem, please post back.
Choose the option to sync Entire music library.  With this setting, when you click Apply, your entire iTunes music library syncs to the iPod, including playlists.  Going forward, any changes you make to your iTunes music library sync automatically to the iPod, the next time you connect it (or click Sync if the iPod is already connected).

  • Last song on albums not matching?

    Anyone else had this happen?
Seems 70 percent of my non matching songs, are strangely the last songs on the albums.
This has happened with songs I originally ripped from CDs, downloaded from iTunes,
as well as Amazon and other stores.
I've been told they could be corrupt? If so, any reason the last tracks would be more likely to be corrupt
    than any others?
    Thanks
    G

It may be because of the new way to organize the songs in iTunes. If you go to your library in iTunes, at the top right, you will see 3 view selections. Click the middle one. This organizes the songs by album. Pick a random album, write down the order of the songs, and compare it to the order on your iPod. Just a thought.

  • Putting songs in album order

Has anyone figured out how to organize music into the order that it is on albums? Even if I manually transfer some songs in order, sometimes they are not in numerical order. I have tried reloading, drag and drop, etc. Nothing seems to work? Anyone else had this issue?
