Groups in Beehive

One other issue that I have had is figuring out exactly how to add groups to workspaces. It is unclear from the documentation what such a group is. The particular case that I am interested in is allowing another entire organization to view my workspace with out having to add all of the individual users. When I selecting the manager of that team and all their direct reports or members it add the actually users directly in. For a large organization it appears that this fails with too many users. Is there another alternative that I am missing?

Hi <nick_name>,
Is this your own install or are you using ondemand?
You can tell you Beehive version by running opatch in apps environment:
opatch lsinventory | grep ^Oracle
Oracle Interim Patch Installer version 10.2.0.4.2
Oracle Application Server PatchSet 10.1.3.4.0
Oracle Beehive Release 1 1.5.1.1.0
that's on linux, but can get it too on Windows. In web you can log in to Beekeeper, at the bottom right hand corner there is a link 'About Beekeeper', the beekeeper version is usually linked to that of Beehive, bit not automatic.
You might not see the all_users group in Outlook if the group does not have an email address
In the web GUI, go into you workspace,
click on 'Participants' in the left hand pane
click on Add User/Group... > Group Participant
In the pop up called 'Add Group Participant', type ALL and wait for the autocomplete to suggest ALL_USERS
Select the role
and your done
If you cannot do that you may only be a viewer or member, not coordinator in that workspace

  • Any API's or command line utilities for accessing Beehive Groups

Hi, I have an internally developed application that has it's own list of users. I am wondering if I can leverage Beehive groups by programmatically accessing groups in order to enumerate their members. Does any one know of anyway API's or command line utilities to access this information ?

We got API and command line utilities in ST Beehive and Beehive Online but its access is restricted to Product Development IT group.
    Thanks,

    Hi,
This is an stbeehive group so logging an SR is the way to get resolution of the problem. Can you escalate the SR - or request action in the log. I will try and get someone to have a look.

  • Partner Access to Beehive Workspace

Beehive Onlinie Workspace: HCM Fusion Training
Beehive Online Group: Early Adopter Implementer Training
    Group shows:
[email protected] Naga Kadiyala [email protected] Verified
Group is associated with the workspace
Only this partner is having access issues. I tried logging in on his PC and my login works fine. He has tried logging in on other co-worker PC and co-worker can access but he still cannot. Issue is with his login. Also did verify that this partner can use the same login to access support.oracle.com using the same login credentials as mentioned above.

User "[email protected]" does not have access to the workspace "HCM Fusion Training", add user to that workspace. Currently Naga is only part of the workspace "Early_Adopter_Implementer_Training".
    Thanks,

  • Can not add members to a Group as Group Administrator

    Hi,
My collegue has created a Group 'WE_PM_group' and added me to that Group with role 'Group Administrator'.
But when I connect to the 'Create Group Or Add New Members' tool, then after SSO and acknowledging the 'read and understood Beehive Online Guidelines', it does not show the 'WE_PM_group' (it shows no Groups) and I can only Create a group.
My question : how can I add members to the Group that my collegue created and for which I am Group Administrator ?
Note : When I connect to the BeehiveOnline Administration Tool, I indeed see my e-mail address within the Group 'WE_PM_group' and with the correct role (Group Administrator)
    Thanks for your help,
    Peter

If you go to the APEX app and have any group - like your Administrator - you will have a list of group - each of them is a hyperlink. Click on the group and the Group settings will be displayed - one of the fields is the Manager email. Get him/her to puit your email in that field, separated by a comma, and you are good to go.

  • Need to know how to better manage revolving users in a group

I have a new Beehive Online group set up for a external partner collaboration. Members of the group are only from Oracle or that external partner. While the BHO group is new, the collaboration has been in place for a long time (since 2007). Initially at Sun Microsystems, and now Oracle.
In my description here... when I say "collaboration" you can translate that to roughly equivalent to "BHO Group"....
The nature of the collaboration is that both companies move people to/from the collaboration, depending on the work in progress. I'm not saying there are changes daily, but there can be changes every month or so. It also happens that people working on the collaboration may be moved from it for many months or longer, and then get moved back to the collaboration at a later time. Ie, the may revolve in and out of the collaboration. Trouble is, when they are moved from the collaboration there is no guarantee that they ever get moved back to it. When a person is not part of the collaboration, their access to collaboration info is taken away.
So my problem is understanding how to manage this better in BHO.
I need to allow a user to be removed from a group, with the possibility (but not certainty) of adding them again.
-- my understanding that delete user would then require SysAd intervention to add them back.
-- I also am not clear on whether deleting the user affects their other group memberships.
I tried to find out more about locking a user
-- but it seems like that affects more then the group.
Whats the recommended way to deal with this?
    Thx!

I tried deleting the "verified" user using the group creation/manage tool.
    - click "View members"
    - select the checkbox next to the user
    - click the button "Delete (non-Verified Users)"
Doing that, the user is not removed AND I get an error message in red at the top of the page that says:
'Only selected non-"Verified" member(s) have been deleted. Go to https://beehiveonline.oracle.com/BOLAdmin.html to delete "Verified" users'
So I went to the Admin tool:
    - selected my group,
    - selected the user from the list
    - clicked the "Delete User" button above the list.
Got the warning pop-up about the user needing to be added back by SysAd, ignored it and clicked "OK".
Got a success pop-up with all kinds of internal response tracking stuff in it. Clicked "OK"
And the user is gone from the group in the Admin tool. HOWEVER, the user still shows up in the group list in the group create/manage tool.
Will the user disappear from that list? If not, the list would be misleading.
    Thx!

  • Customer participants unable to see documents in Beehive Online workspace?

I've created a Beehive OnLine workspace and also a group containing all of the participants, including both internal Oracle and external client team members. All can successfully login and see the workspace, but only the internal Oracle participants can see any of the folders and documents uploaded into the workspace. What do I need to do to make these visible to the external client team members?

    Hi,
BeehiveOnline makes no distinction between interrnal and external users - they are all equal so the ssyetm will not be able to discriminate. Perhaps the external users have not been validated yet. Perhaps you are on stbeehive and not BeehiveOnline.
If all can log in and see the Workspace then all should see all of it. Email [email protected] with the details of the group/workspace etc. and we can investigate.

  • Group and workspace Participant report

I've a large beehive group for a customer with many participants and workspaces. I need to generate a report for all participants in the group with details of what access they have to each workspace. Is there any easy way to do this?
    Thanks

    Hi,
Go to https://beehiveonline.oracle.com/BOLAdmin.html - navigate to the "My Managed Workspaces" > click on the Workspace and there is a grey button which will generate a Workspace membership report.

  • How to send an email to entire group

    Hi,
I have the same question that Ram asked back on 11/15 ......
Is there a mechanism I can use within Beehive to send an email to the entire group ?
    Thanks
    Bill
    RamRamanathan asked
Hi,   is there a way to email all group members in Beehive Online Group/Workspace; for example, to alert them that you have uploaded some documents and they should review/respond by a certain date?

Yes, the group has an email address by default. The group has an email address made up of the group name with "_" inserted instead of spaces with @beehiveonline.oracle.com as the domain.
An example would be the "Acme Industries" group will have an email address of "[email protected]" - sending email to the address will forward on the message to all the members of the group.

  • Not receiving mails directed towards my group manager's mailing list

    Hi,
I joined recently and used to receive mails directed towards all team members who report to my group manager(i.e. mails sent to [email protected]). But since last 2 weeks I am not receiving those emails. Can any of you help me to resolve this issue or please provide me with the pointers to whom I shall contact ? Thanks.
    Regards,
    Yadvendar

You're not part of 'pambale_org_ww', it could be a bug or there were some org changes. Moreover this is the Beehive Online forum, please raise a service request or post this in the ST Beehive forum to fix it.
    Thanks,

  • LDAP Users and Groups

    Hi,
    <p>
I have configured an LDAP Authenticator for an external LDAP directory in the security realm of the samples portal. User Management is working, but when I try to access the Group Management for the LDAP Authenticator I get the following error:
    </p>
<i>com.bea.p13n.usermgmt.hierarchy.TreeNotBuiltException: State: UNINITIALIZED. Tree is uninitialized. Add provider GAAD to list of providers to build. Tree is uninitialized. Add provider GAAD to list of providers to build.
    </i>
    <p>
It seems that this needs to be setup. How do I do this?
    </p>
    <p>
    Some general notes on LDAP:
    </p><p>
I think that in a production environment it is of great value to manage users and groups in a LDAP directory. For instance we have a company directory which contains all users. It seems that users from LDAP can not been added to groups which are in the DB. LDAP also has the advantage of supporting dynamic groups.
As in previous weblogic releases the LDAP authenticator is read only. It would be great if the write functionality could be added as well. Actually managing LDAP users and groups in one place would be a tremendous improvement for us.
    </p><p>
Another thing on my wishlist are examples for delegated administration and visitor entitlements. For the sample portal these are empty. But I think it would be nice to have some out of the box examples that show what is possible and help developers and business analysts to understand the concepts and create their own roles.
    </p><p>
It would be interesting to read what Bea and other developer think about this.
    </p><p>
    Kind regards,
    <p>
    Kai
    </p>

    Marcus,
Yes, I am using 9.2 TP.
We are already using LDAP for user management with 8.1.
Now, I try to configure 9.2 as well. I am running 9.2 installations on different machines. When I click on Service Administration in the Admin Portal, I get the following error message for each installation:

  • How to: share address book groups

My coworkers shares her contacts with me thru icloud. I have added her icloud account in my address book.
I see all her contacts in my address book as expected. But her groups are not included in the sharing.
How can we share groups from her address book to mine, so i can see and adjust her groups?
    Thanx, Guido van Leeuwen

    Hi,
the target users most probably needs to link to the shared workspace, see http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/beehive/beehive_users/zimbra.htm#CFHFBDBF

  • Beehive & JSF

I saw on the beehive news groups that they are planning to release a service pack ( bug fix release ) at the end of this month
Is that going to be part of next Technology preview?
If it is not part of the next technology preview, can I safely replace the current jars with new beehive jars once they released it on beehive website?
Are you going to add myfaces as JSF implementation?
The code completion feature is not available for the JSF tags in Tech Preview 1 . Is it going to be part of Tech preview 2
Is there going to be Design View for JSP and JSF pages?

We are going to use the SUN RI and add myFaces from Apache post GA.
In theory you should be able to get one implementation out and plug the other one it, but we are not going to be able to test it all in time.

  • Purpose of mail address of group workspace

    Dear beekeepers,
what is the actual purpose of defining a mail address for a group workspace?
    beectl modify_team_workspace workspace wksp=my_team,enpr=org  email_address [email protected]
We thought, that by defining an address like [email protected], the Workspaces inbox would be publicly reachable as [email protected], but we found that such an address can only be addressed within beehive, and will report an "user unknown" message when used from the outside (of course with a sensible address including our domain).
    Regards, Thomas

Then there is something wrong in your environment.
The email address is indeed to make the workspace addessable from outside. Internally within Beehive, email addresses are not used to resolve the users/workspaces/etc, they use the object id. But in order to accept email from outside, there needs to be a valid email address.
e.g. if your domain is "oracle.com" and the workspace is "teamws1" then e.g. the email address can be [email protected]

  • Ldap schema extension to control which users / group are imported

    Hello,
would like to have your opinion:
would it be a good idea to implement ldap schema extensions to control
which users / group are imported and controlled from ldap in a ldap
    mastered installation?
e.g. we could implement the following schema extension for users:
    attributetype ( 1.3.6.1.4.1.<iana-org-id>.1.1 NAME ( 'BogusisBeehiveUser' )
         DESC ''
    EQUALITY booleanMatch
    SYNTAX 1.3.6.1.4.1.1466.115.121.1.7
    SINGLE-VALUE )
    # BogusinetOrgPerson
    # The BogusinetOrgPerson is derived from inetOrgPerson
    objectclass     ( 1.3.6.1.4.1.<iana-org-id>.1
    NAME 'BogusinetOrgPerson'
DESC 'RFC2798: Internet Organizational Person, plus Bogus Extensions'
    SUP inetOrgPerson
    STRUCTURAL
         MAY (
              BogusisBeehiveUser )
Then we could control the inclusion in beehive by simply switching
    BogusisBeehiveUser on or off.

sure; that's pretty much what is talked about in the Install Guide for LDAP Integration under the "inclusion and exclusion" section, about here:
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E14897_01/bh.100/e14830/ldap.htm#CHDEFFJF
that doesn't go into the specifics of how you might want to design your objectClass schemas, though, as beehive is agnostic to that.
If you don't want to provision all users that match a certain existing rule (like everyone under dn=foo, or everyone where userType=employee), then adding a new attribute and building the profile inclusion rule around it is a valid thing to do.
