Groupshare new objects get permissions to user only
Hi,
I have sharing named "Data" for a certain group. When they create objects inside the folder or subfolders, the folder gets a permission for the current user only. We have to change this later manually to fix this issue and let other access the folder. Is there a way to tell the AFP process/logon procedure to create new files and folders with full permission to the group?
The environment: MAC OS X Server 10.6 with 10.4-6 clients. The problem resides on all the machines.

New Photo App Permissions Across Users
What have Apple done to my iPhoto permissions?
I have a shared photo library which used to be accessed by all users. We have an iMac that is used by the whole family. Everyone takes and loads photos to the shared library - this worked a dream in iPhoto.
Now we have the new Photo app and all of a sudden, I'm the only one who has access to the library. When my wife opens the app on her account, she doesn't get the choice of what library to attach to - the app bypasses that. I have looked at the permissions for the Photo Library and added all users to read/write. When my wife tried to access this using File/Import, the photos library icon is blanked out - still no access!
The library is located here:
macintosh HD/users/shared/photos library
It has 80Gb of memories that my wife can't now access if she wants to when going about her daily stuff on the machine.
Seriously, I love Apple but their views on who should be able to see what drives me nuts. This is my machine, used by my family - I should be the one to decide who sees what. Just let ME make these decisions PLEASE!
How can I fix this?

Ta.What system were you running prior to upgrading to 10.10.3? Using the Shared folder for iPhoto Libraries was discontinued by Apple several versions back. Users would run into permissions issues each time a different user added photos to the library or made any edits.
Now the only way is to put it on an external HD formatted OS X Extended (journaled) and have it hard wired to the computer, i.e FireWire, USB, etc. -

i replaced my old iphone to a new one.. i want to get my photos from icloud,,,, i had almost 3 gb of photos backed up on icloud,,, how can i transfer all those photos to my new phone,, i tried but i only got 90 photos. those are the recent one. i had almost 1000 photos in icloud back up?plz hlp
You should call Apple Support and give them your Apple ID so that they can verify how many photos you actually do have backed up in iCloud...
Also, are you able to do an iTunes backup at all? Because that would save all of the photos and allow you to get them onto the new device.

i bought some ringtones on my iPhone, later on i sync my iphone to my old computer now i have a new mac pro desktop and i only have 2 ringtones on my phone but not the rest of them how can i get them back without having to pay for them again?
If you bought them on your iPad then you will need to connect your iPad to your computer's iTunes and do File > Devices > Transfer Purchases to copy them over to the Tones part of your computer's iTunes library and you can then sync them to your iPhone - ringtones are a one-time only download, so you won't be able to redownload them directly on your phone.

Just got new iPad mini and I can only get 140 pictutes in My Photo Stream while in my other devices I have 1000 photos in My Photo Stream. How do I sync to have all photos in My Photo Stream on this new iPad mini?

I see different photos in My Photo Stream on each of my devices.
Your device will keep up to 1000 photos, even if they are older than 30 days. Photos older than 30 days are removed from the iCloud server, so all devices may not have the same photos, depending on when you enabled My Photo Stream.
You may want to sync the older photos through iTunes to get them on your new iPad mini.

I am troubleshooting a critical error showed up on Event log. It said:
Insufficient sql database permissions for user 'Name:domain\wss_search ....... EXECUTE permission was denied on the object 'proc_GetTimerRunningJobs', database 'SharePoint_Config', schema 'dbo'
domain\wss_search is the default content access account. According to
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc678863.aspx I should not grant it the Farm Administrators permission.
In the Search Center I am able to search out documents as expected so I think the search service is fine. However I have no clue why this account is trying to access 'proc_GetTimerRunningJobs'.

This issue was caused by the search account’s permission. For resolving your issue, please do as the followings:
Expand your SharePoint Configuration database 'SharePoint_Config' and navigate to ‘proc_GetTimerRunningJobs’ under Programmability ->Stored Procedures
Right-click proc_GetTimerRunningJobs and choose Properties
Click on Permission on the left launch
Select the Search button and browse for ‘WSS_Content_Application_Pools’
Provide ‘Execute’ permissions for ‘WSS_Content_Application_Pools’
Click OK

I used iCloud before I updated to the new iOS 6 and now I only have 44 pictures how can I get them all back?
Photo stream only keeps your photos for 30 days. After that, they are removed from your photo stream but not from any device that has already received them. Chances are, the 44 photos are from the last 30 days; the others are not there because they are no longer in your photo stream.
If the photos were in your camera roll when you last backed up, restoring to the backup should recover them. However, you will have to restore to the entire backup to do so. If they weren't backed up or imported to your computer, there is no way to recover them now.
To be sure your photos are saved, regularly import them from the camera roll to your computer as outlined here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083. -

I need to add my new ipod to itunes.
itunes will only show the old, dead ipod that my niece had given me secondhand.
I just got a new one and want to put in it's serial number, etc. but keep the music.
Please help, I've been going around in circles online for hours. I don't want to merely change the name of the old ipod, which is the only info I can find.

Open iTunes and select edit/preferences/advanced/general. Put a check mark in the box marked "copy files to iTunes music folder when adding to library" and also "keep iTunes music folder organized", then click 'ok'.
Connect the iPod whilst holding down the shift/ctrl keys to prevent any auto sync, and if you see the dialogue window asking if you want to sync to this itunes library, click 'no'.
Then go to file/add folder, open 'my computer', select your iPod and click 'ok'.
The music files should transfer to your iTunes.
However it appears that no playlists or any other info such as ratings/last played etc will transfer.
If this is important to you, you may want to use other options.
There's Yamipod. This is a free program that transfers music and playlists etc from iPod to iTunes.
Once the music from your iPod is in your new iTunes library, you can go about adding new music as you did previously. -
We have a Citrix environment for app publishing.
Office 2007 is installed, and the users use the published outlook 2007.
For some users only(not all users), when they arrange by "from" and in-groups they get an error when they try and collapse groups.
Error is "There are no items to show in this view".
It does not affect all users.
Troubleshooting attempted:
Recreated user's profile. - No change
Made user an administrator
-Logged in locally
-ran outlook in safe-mode -> no change.
-ran cleanviews -> no change
There were no policies applied at the time, and there are no user specific configurations.
