Groupware, Outlook, birthdate replication, automatic recurring appointment

Dear Experts,
we are using CRM 4.0 with Groupware Integration (Outlook 2007) quite
successful. Anyway we are facing a problem SAP and MS were not able to solve
so far.
We can replicate a birthdate from CRM or MSA to Outlook, and the date is
stored on the vcard of the person correctly. But normally if you fill in a birthday on a vcard of a contact, Outlook creates a recurring appointment in the calendar automatically while saving the vcard (Save and Exit).
If the birthdate is replicated from the CRM, the mentioned recurring appointment is not created in the Calendar of Outlook. When we save the same vcard again manually, the recurring appointment is created.
From our point of view the mechanism to save the vcard is different. The
Groupware seem to use a different action than the button "Save and Exit" does.
Is anybody able to help?
Thanks in advance
Oliver

I found it out by myself, it's a setting in the groupware connector.

I schedule three single appointment from outlook from calendar, can I combine these single appointments to one recurring appointment by outlook API?

    Hello Xian,
The Outlook object model doesn't provide any direct method for combining existing appointments into a series. You need to use the
GetRecurrencePattern method of the AppointmentItem class to set up
    a RecurrencePattern object
that represents the recurrence attributes of an appointment. If there is no existing recurrence pattern, a new empty RecurrencePattern object is returned.
Thus, you can choose the first appointment item on the calendar and set up its recurrence pattern, then you will need to delete old two appointments.
Here is what MSDN states for recurrent appointments:
When you work with recurring appointment items, you should release any prior references, obtain new references to the recurring appointment item before you access or modify the item, and release these references as soon as you are finished and have saved
the changes. This practice applies to the recurring AppointmentItem object,
and any Exception or RecurrencePattern object.
In C#, explicitly release the memory for that object (see ReleaseComObject method of the Marshal class).
Note that even after you release your reference and attempt to obtain a new reference, if there is still an active reference, held by another add-in or Outlook, to one of the above objects, your new reference will still point to an out-of-date
copy of the object. Therefore, it is important that you release your references as soon as you are finished with the recurring appointment.

  • Exchange 2007 / Outlook 2013 "Your Automatic Reply Settings Cannot Be Displayed Because The Server Is Unavailable"

One of our users is having problems setting replies from Outlook on his local PC.  This is an SBS 2008 Server with Exchange 2007.  The client PC is running Windows 8 with Outlook 2013.  This issue doesn't seem to affect other users but this
is the only client with Outlook 2013.
When trying to set an automatic reply from within Outlook 2013 we get the "Your automatic reply settings cannot be displayed because the server is unavailable".  Outlook seems to be connecting and working fine so connection to the server does
    exist.
Trying this same operation from owa works without issue.  Please let me know what we need to do to find a solution.
    Thanks so much!

    Problem:
IMAP downloads inbox don't work after November patches.
If you install a fresh OS and O2K13 unpatched ,the IMAP works fine.
Fully patched O2K10 works fine too.
It worked for my customer until November patch Tuesday broke the IMAP sync.
    Consultant opened case.
    Response from Microsoft:
This is with regards to the issue faced by you due to regression         caused by November security update. This is further to inform         you
that fix is out and below is the download links for 32 bit         and 64 bit of the office suites. You need to apply all 3 hotfix.         The crash issue and IMAP issue would get resolved
immediately         while the issue related to Free / Busy and OOF not getting set         would take 24-36 hours to start working once the patch is
    applied.

  • IOS Calendar not displaying recurring appointment on the correct date

I have a recurring appointment set up in Microsoft Outlook, with the following settings:
In Microsoft Outlook, this appointment is correctly displayed on 2 May 2013 at 8:30am.
But, in iOS Calendar, this appointment appears on 8 May 2013 at 8:30am.
In June 2013, Outlook correctly shows this on the 4 June, but iOS Calendar shows this on the 10 June.
Pretty sure this is a bug in iOS Calendar, but maybe I'm doing something wrong.

Maybe it wasn't receiving the correct info from your carrier. You're supposed to turn your phone off once in a while so the carrier can update stuff. I had originally heard that you should do it once a day but I never did that.

  • Recurring appointment not showing up after 1st date

I can't remember if I initially entered the recurring appointment on my computer or directly into my Curve. In any case, viewing the appointment on my device shows only the 1st date and none of the upcoming dates. Opening the series shows the correct recurrence: weekly, every 1, Tuesday, end on Tue, Feb 16, 2010, Occurs every week until Feb 16, 2010 on Tue. I won't be at my computer until Monday so I can't check if the same situation appears there. What can I do to fix this on my device?

In previous versions, once I launched Outlook, it would automatically detect/passthrough my username and email address into the fields so that I could just click next and be done. In Outllok 2013 on Windows 2008 R2 this doesn't appear to be working even
thought I am able to successfully resolve my autodiscover domain.

    Hi,
Is there any error when you can’t connect your Outlook 2013 to Exchange 2007?
If the autodiscover service is configured correctly, please change a computer to have a try. In this local windows 2008 R2, please check the following settings in Internet Explorer:
Click Settings > Internet Options > Connections > LAN settings, please make sure there is no proxy server set there. Only “Automatically detect settings” option is checked.

I know this may sound like a Blackberry issue but bear with me. We are using Novell Data Synchronizer with z10 Blackberry to Groupwise 8. When a user attempts to create a yearly recurring appointment on the z10, the first appointment appears on the z10 calendar and then about 15 seconds later disappears. All future yearly appointments remain visable, but the first appointment in the series is disappearing. Weekly-daily recurring appointments work fine. The local calendar on the z10 works fine. It appears to me that there is a faulty algorithm with the syncing of the yearly appointments. Blackberry recommended a security wipe which does not correct the problem. The only way to circumvent the problem is to create the yearly recurring appointment and start it with a date exactly one year in the past. The reason I suspect the Novell sync is due to the local calendar working, and the initial appointment shows on the z10 but then disappears after the synchronization with Novell. I may be missing a setting with Groupwise or Novell. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

  • Microsoft outlook recurring appointment issue on iphone

In Outlook 2007 or Outlook 2010, when creating a new recurring calendar event on the 2nd weekday of every month, the dates come out wrong on the iphone (event is shifted on iphone to 1st weekday of the first full week of the month)
Is there any fix for this?
    Thanks.

I started to see this problem a couple of weeks ago. Until then for a few months I had not have any issue.
I found a solution here. The problem in your case is likely the sync between Outlook and Exchange Server.
    http://community.office365.com/en-us/forums/158/t/78556.aspx?PageIndex=2
    > In order to have the 'deleted item' actually deleted at the server, you have to got to the 'deleted item' folder and *sync* it.
    > Usually once opening the folder it will just initiate a sync, if not, click on the sync button.
When I tried to sync Deleted Items folder, I found it was not synching, and found large deleted email (20MB) probably stuck. I manually deleted it, then started synchronizing.
Now, deleted mail on Outlook is automatically deleted on my iPhone!! :-)
Hope this will solve your problem as well.

  • Recurring meeting in Outlook sending updates automatically to all recipients

We use Outlook 2007 with Exchange 2003 SP2 cached mode.  We have a project team that schedules meetings for working groups that include some people in our organization and several from other companies.  With only one user we have an odd recurring meeting problem.  When our employee creates a meeting, makes it recurring with an end date, adds recipients and sends the meeting out, the recipients receive it and reply.  All is well.
However, at random times, even when Outlook isnt connected to the system, Exchange sends a duplicate meeting invite to all recipients again, and they all reply again.  This time, their replies are different.  We receive a reply for each occurance in the series rather than just a single reply for the series.  Some recipients are saying that they received 6 invitations from us instead of one, and had to accept each one.  This happens about three times per meeting.  Another thing we noticed is that the End Date on the series is changing.  We wondered why updates were being sent out if nothing had changed and realized that the End Date for the series was incrementing by one day.  For example, the series was supposed to end on Nov. 21st when our employee sent out the message.  The End Date changed to Nov. 22nd and Exchange sent an update to all (This was on a Saturday that this happened.)  There were more updates sent by Exchange over the next few days and each update had added another day to the End Date.
Any ideas why the system would send updates to meetings on its own and change the end date? James Nelson

We are experiencing the same problem.  Four times in the last six months or so we've had iPhone users send out Calendar items that end up resending over and over and over.  This is on Exchange 2003.  The calendar items were each created in Outlook 2007 and involved multiple invitees.  Some of these items were reoccurring events, others were not.
What we have found is that when the owner/creator of the calendar item deletes the acceptance emails from the invitees, that is when another calendar item is sent out again.  This also happens if the acceptance email is moved to a subfolder.  In other words:
Jane creates a calendar invite and includes Bill and Bob.
Bill and Bob each accept the invite and an acceptance/confirmation email is sent to Jane.
When Jane deletes Bill's acceptance email another calendar invite is sent to both Bill and Bob.
When Jane moves Bob's acceptance email to a subfolder...another calendar invite is sent to both Bill and Bob.
The only way I have found to stop the invite for re-sending is to delete the original invite and start over, or for the sender to not delete or move the acceptance emails.
I have not figured out what causes this problem.

  • Outlook 2010 "Your automatic reply settings cannot be displayed because the server is unavailable" error

    Hi,
We recently introduced a Exchange 2010 server into our Exchange 2003 enviroment but had to stop migrating users over to it after it became appartent that users using Outlook 2010 could not switch on their Out Of Office, getting an "Your automatic reply settings
cannot be displayed because the server is currently unavailable" error. However users on the new 2010 can set OOF if they use OWA or Outlook 2003!
Running the Test E-mail AutoConfiguration shows no errors with the Log tab showing Autodiscover succeeded and the Results tab showing all the correct values, including a OOF URL of
/Autodiscover/Autodiscover.xml">https://<servername>/Autodiscover/Autodiscover.xml into IE gives a XML file with a 600 error code.
I have looked at loads of 'solutions' on the Internet but cannot get this working, anyone have any suggestions?
    Thank you,
    Craig
