GroupWise and BlackBerry 10 devices ...

Using GroupWise 8.0.3 and RIM BES 5.x.
Wondering how I'd support my new BlackBerry 10 devices as they use Mobile Fusion. The Novell Data Synchronizer Connector for Mobility page says;
4.9 BlackBerry Support ... The Mobility Conenctor does not support BlackBerry devices. Instead, you can use BlackBerry Enterprise Server for GroupWise. ActiveSync clients for BlackBerry devices are not supported for use with the Mobility Connector.
I've read a few articles that say, basically ... BlackBerry 10 Devices Won't Support BES, Will Support ActiveSync.
Very confused !!!

1. BB 10 doesn't support BES
2. BB 10 does support Mobile Fusion which is due out soon which
integrates with BES
3. Alternatively BB 10 does support direct ActiveSync. I'll ask novell
on their feelings here.

  • Airport Extreme denying connections to Win XP laptop and Blackberry devices

I have a Macbook with OS 10.6.4 and have used Airport Utility 5.5.1 to set up my Airport Extreme n. I can use my Macbook and a Ipod Touch to connect to the WiFi network setup using the Airport Extreme. However other devices like a Win Laptop, Blackberry and Wireless Bridge are not able to connect. I get a 'Connection Denied' or "IP address not assigned' message. The devices can see the network but connections are not made. Any suggestions?

Thanks for your reply. Unbelievably frustrating: I just booted up the laptop having shut it down Friday, and it connected and negotiated an IP address very quickly after I entered in the password.
I had already tried rebooting it before I posted this question last week, so I'm miffed that I have no answer as to why that was happening Thursday after a reboot but not today.
(BTW, the issue with the shorter password is for usability with guests. In today's world, many people come to my home carrying an iPhone or iPod Touch, and it is hospitable for me to get them on the network. It isn't about re-keying it in on my iPhone, it is about keying it in on other people's iPhones.)
(Also, for the neighborhood I live in, the mixture of letters, numbers and symbols in my 8 digit password is probably just fine.)

  • How do you sync iCloud (contact, calendar, task) to outlook 2011 for Mac? and how do you make seemless sync between iCloud to Outlook 2011 to Blackberry device or an iPad?

I have three device: Macbook Pro (OSX 10.7.5) for work; an iPad and a Blackberry for mobile. I used mail, iCal, and Address Book combine with mobileme (iCloud) to exchange data such as contact, calendar and task from my Mackbook Pro to my iPad but never to Blackberry. The problem is my boss was asking me to change to Outlook 2011 for Mac because some of the email that I sent from Mail did not appear in my client's Blackberry. So how do you sync iCloud (contact, calendar, task) to Outlook 2011 for Mac? and how do you make seemless sync between iCloud to Outlook 2011 to Blackberry device or an iPad?

  • Blackberry Device Manager can't find 9320 Bluetooth device (even Bluetooth is switched on and set to Discoverable)

I want to sync my Blackberry 9320 via Bluetooth to a Windows 7 Professional machine using a Bluetooth adapter. Syncing using USB cable works fine.
I can Bluetooth pair with the 9320 and also send / receive files to /from the Windows 7 machine. Fantastic !
HOWEVER, Blackberry Device Manager can not find the 9320 Bluetooth device (even Bluetooth is switched on and set to Discoverable) - see screen shots below.
By the way I have already tried (amongst other things) “Manually Install RIM Virtual Serial Ports in Microsoft® Windows® 7” on http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gK2n5dHxGHI  Unfortunately, this does now work - the drivers do load up OK and remove the warning signs when view in Windows Device Manager, but Blackberry Device Manager still can't see my 9320.
    Please help !

I have the exact same problem with my 9360. I have also tried all the fixes I could find on the Internet with no luck. I have posted a request as well. I will let you know if I find a solution. What gets me though is that this appears to be a long standing issue with no obvious fix! Best of luck.

I asked, "Has this BlackBerry worked correctly for YOU in the past?"
lol, ok. So the answer to my very specific question is, "No". You bought a second-hand, used BlackBerry, and as far as you know it might have been broken and not working for the seller. Personally, I would recommend you get your money back from the seller, and return the device.
Otherwise, you need to deal with ONE issue at a time. First, you must load the operating system.
See the link below for the download, and follow these simple installation instructions.
    1. Download the OS file to the PC then install it to the PC by running (double clicking) the file you downloaded.
    https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads/entry.do?code=5D6646AAD9BCC0BE55B2C82F69750387
    2. Go to c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader and delete the file named "vendor.xml."
    3. Plug in BB and double click on "Loader.exe." It's located in the same place as the above vendor.xml file.

  • Mailbox quota and Blackberry issue

    Hello all,
I am not sure if this is the appropriate place to post this but I think it's either Post office or SOAP issue.
I have a Blackberry User that ran out of space 1 week ago and cleaned up her mailbox. She is able to send emails out of her mailbox fine but not from the Blackberry device. Error is Send Failed and the Messaging Agent logs claim that SOAP returned response "Attempt to add/modify past disk space limit".
Why is GroupWise reporting this to Blackberry via SOAP when she has space? I ran all repairs and update user total on account using local GWCheck. I thought that maybe given a day the servers would recheck and be ok in the morning, but she still can't send.
Yesterday she had 2.7 gbs used and 3gb quota. I uped the quota to 4gbs and ran the repairs. But for some reason SOAP is still sending out this response.
My thoughts are maybe "Enable Caching" being enabled on Post Office is causing some update issue? Or I need to restart the Post Office? To clear something up that old SOAP is finding for the user. Any thoughts?

I read the documentation for "Delete Event Configuration".
It sounds like I would do this as a cleanup if removing a user. So I would have to setup the user again on the Blackberry Server. Unfortunately, the User is on vacation and trying to send emails and would like it fixed.
I also have a few more users I can try somethings with. But I would rather restart the PO or restart services on BES to fix issue. Users want everything fixed remotely without bringing their devices back.
Please let me know if my understanding is correct and if there are any other ideas. Thank you.

  • "Deleted items: Synchronize deleted items between this mailbox and my device?" questions

When I log into the BIS site for Sprint, it gives me the option at the bottom that says
"Deleted items: Synchronize deleted items between this mailbox and my device." at the very bottom
What does this really mean? I am confused because when you delete an email off the blackberry, it gives you 3 options, delete from "mailbox & handheld," "handheld," and "cancel".
So, if I have the "Deleted items: Synchronize deleted items between this mailbox and my device." clicked...does that mean when I just choose delete from "handheld" only, it will STILL delete the email from my actual "mailbox" too?
I don't want it to delete the email from my "mailbox" if I choose to delete from "handheld" only on my blackberry
Does anyone know more about this?
    Thanks guys

    in my opinion :
if you choose to delete on device only, it will never delete on your server.
but best is you to try for one test message and you'll know for sure. And tell us.

    Hello !
Try connecting to App world after connecting your device to WiFi.
    Or else,
There is an alternative for your problem to resolve.
What you do is connect your BlackBerry Smartphone with USB cable to Internet enabled desktop/laptop.
Go to the link mentioned below:
    http://appworld.blackberry.com/webstore/
On top right  of the page there is a option "Sign In".
Login with your BlackBerry ID and password.
From here you can download all as you do it for Appworld.
    Hope this resolves your Problem!

  • Must-know BlackBerry Z10 and BlackBerry 10 tips and tricks

Check out the following must-know BlackBerry Z10 and BlackBerry 10 tips and tricks to get the most out of your new BlackBerry 10 smartphone.
    1) BlackBerry 10's Built-In Screen Shot Feature
Capturing a screen shot on a BlackBerry 10 device is simple. Just hold both the volume up and volume down keys simultaneously for a couple of seconds until you hear a shutter sound. Screen shots are saved to your BlackBerry 10 camera gallery.
    2) Volume Up/Down Keys as Media Controls
You can use your BlackBerry 10 device's volume up and volume down keys to skip through songs in your music librery. To enable this feature, open your BlackBerry 10 Settings by dragging down from the top of your display while on your Active Frames screen or a home screen panel. Choose Settings from the dropdown menu and click System Volume. On the following page, slide the Music Shortcuts button to the On position.
    3) Volume Up/Down Keys and the BlackBerry 10 Camera
You simply tap your BlackBerry Z10's display with the camera or video camera open to snap an image or start recording a video clip. But it's sometimes easier to use the volume keys. Just tap the volume up or volume down keys with the camera open to snap and image. And you can also use these keys to start and stop video capture when your camera's video mode is enabled.
    4) Instantly Launch Voice Control
The BlackBerry Z10 can initiate lots of different actions based on voice commands thanks to its Voice Control app. And you can instantly launch Voice Control by holding your device's mute key for a couple of seconds.
    5) Launch BlackBerry Camera from Lock Screen
BlackBerry 10 lets you quickly launch your camera application from its lock screen, a feature that can be valuable when you want to take spur-of-the-moment shots. A camera icon appears in the bottom-right corner of the locked display screen, and you can hold it for a couple of seconds to launch the camera app.
    6) Advanced BlackBerry Hub Inbox Controls
The BlackBerry Hub is the central inbox for all of you various BlackBerry 10 application notifications and messages. You can access basic Hub controls by clicking the Menu key at the bottom right of your Hub screen. (The Menu key looks like three dots stacked on top of each other.) But you can also access some advanced BlackBerry Hub controls from the date bars that appear in the inbox stream at the start of each new day.
Just hold a finger on a date bar to bring up controls that let you skip to the start of the past day, the start of the next day, jump to the top of the BlackBerry Hub, jump to the bottom of your BlackBerry Hub or mark all prior messages as read.
    7) Speedy BlackBerry 10 Navigation
The BlackBerry 10 OS can be broken down into three main components: The BlackBerry Hub; the Active Frames screen; and your application panels. You can do navigation through these components using a basic set of swipes and gestures. But you can also use the tiny slider tray that appears at the bottom of the Active Frames screen and all of your home panels. Just tap a specific panel in the slide to navigate directly to that panel without scrolling. Touch the Active Frames square, which is composed of four smaller squares, to jump directly to your active apps page. Or tap the Hub button, which looks like three horizontal lines on top of each other, to navigate right to the Hub.
    8) See Your Battery Life Status as a Percentage
The BlackBerry 10 OS does not currently allow you to set your battery-status indicator to show a specific percentage, only a battery icon. But you can check your device's hardware settings for a more specific battery status. Just open your device's Settings by sliding down from the top of your Active Frames or application-panel screen and choose Settings from the dropdown menu. Then click About. On the following screen, change the Category menu from General to Hardware. You'll see a battery percentage listed in the Hardware information.
    9) BlackBerry 10 Boot Status as a Percentage
Whenever you restart or power up your BlackBerry 10 devices, a BlackBerry logo appears with a status bar that encircles it. The status bar shows you start-up progress, but you can also view that progress as a percentage number. Just hold your finger anywhere on the BlackBerry logo and a progress percentage appears.
    10) BlackBerry Z10 Keyboard Tips, Tricks and Shortcuts
You can type special characters using the BlackBerry 10 virtual keyboard by holding your finger on top of a letter with associated special characters (e, a, i, o, u, y, etc.), and then sliding your finger over to the character of your choice.
Quickly sliding your finger downward from the top of your keyboard to its bottom cycles through the number and character screens so you don't have to tap the number/character screens button, which can slow down typing.
And you can delete an entire word instead of just individual letters by swiping leftward from the backspace key toward the center of your keyboard.

  • Adobe Interactive Form on BlackBerry device

    Hi,
I am trying to open an adobe interactive form (generated by SAP and Adobe LifeCycle Designer) on my BlackBerry device.
Instead of the document's content I get the following message:
When opening a PDF document containing an XFA form on the BlackBerry 10 smartphone the following error is displayed:
This document is an XFA form. XFA forms cannot be filled using the Mobile Adobe Reader.
Is there any possibility to open and maintain the document anyway or what is adobe's strategy regarding this scenario?
Thanks a lot and best regards,
    Thomas

They haven't really announced it, because there is no product to announce. Rather the opposite.
There are no conversion tools, so far as I know.
XFA forms are a non-starter if you want portability.
AcroForms are a nightmare in themselves, because the functionality is limited in Adobe Reader and varies between absent and weird in other products. No idea about Blackberry support.
You will not find a simple recommendation. Rather, you need to use Acroforms and carefully test everything (EVERYTHING: no assumptions) on every platform you intend to support.
Yes, rather unsatisfactory, but until Adobe realise that the future is platform equivalence or irrelevance, this is where we are.

  • Blackberry Desktop Software Failed to validate your blackberry device

Blackberry 8310 was running slow.  The people at the ATT store said I need to update the software.  Downloaded the newest version to the desktop and when I tried to upload it to the phone received the following message
"Blackberry Desktop Software Failed to validate your blackberry device update"
"Aborting install due to validation failure.  Some packages contained unsatisfied dependencies"
I am sure others have seen it.  What do I need to do.  Thanks  Mike

Glad to hear.  I just did this again last night, and I think I've isolated the specific program that causes the problem, but I can't be sure.
I think it's "Documents To Go".
People might try deleting just that one program first in Options > Applications > Add-Ons if they didn't want to delete everything else too.  It's worth a shot.
