GroupWise Notify

GroupWise client version 7.0.3hp1
User A logs into her GroupWise account with notify running. User A gets alarm Notification for user B. User A does not have any rights to User B's groupWise account.
1. User A does not have proxy access to User B's account.
2.User B has not given user A rights to subcribe to her alarms.
Has any one have any idea on this issue and how to resolve.

  • GroupWise 7.0.3 Notify not working

    Hi,
We have GroupWise 7.0.3 and Notify running on staff machines. One user's notify application is not working correctly, e.g. not notifying her of appointments/mail via dialog boxes. I have removed and re-installed GroupWise but no luck. I have also done the following checks:
    - Made sure she was subscribed to alarms and notifications in Tools, Options, Security, Notify.
    - Checked Notify was running in task manager.
    - Checked Options in Notify, e.g. mailbox and calendar is selected, and have ticked show dialog for all item types.
    - Notify and GroupWise have been added to StartUp folder and have also ticked the box Launch Notify at Startup in Tools, Options, Environment.
The weird thing is that in the Notification List there are notifications, but the problem is that they are not appearing as pop up's.
    Thanks for any help given.

I have tried logging in as myself on her PC and it is still the same problem, although I can receive notifications on my PC. Will try logging in as her on my PC and see if the problem still exists.
    Thanks.

  • Notify sound won't work (Windows 7 and Groupwise 8.0.3)

Has anyone else had a problem with the Notify sound not working? I've never had a problem with it before, but we recently upgraded from Windows XP to Windows 7 and I had Groupwise 8.0.3 installed with it. The sound will play when testing during setup (via the Notify icon/Options/Notify), but it will not play when an email is sent and the Notify box pops up with a new email. I'm hoping someone will be able to suggest a solution.
    Thanks!

  • Monitoring e-mails in GroupWise 7.0

I am a district-level administrator with a school district in Arkansas
and we notify our employees that e-mails may be monitored for
inappropriate use. However, my Technology Director tells me that
GroupWise doesn't have this capability because e-mails aren't "retained"
in any way, such as in a server, etc. Prior to installing GroupWise a
few years ago, we used networking software from another company and we
    did have that capability.
I'd like to know if there IS a way to monitor e-mails through GroupWise
and how we can obtain the ability to do so.
    Thanks.

  • Read button when clicked in notify doesn't open email sent

I have a user using Groupwise 8.0.3 when she clicks on 'read' on the notify popup box advising of a new email she has received, the new email does not open. Nothing happens. Groupwise is open in the background.
I have uninstalled Groupwise, deleted all references to Groupwise and notify in the registery, rebooted the pc and reinstalled Groupwise. Still the same issue.
Please advise what I can do next.
    thanks

Try having her duplicate this on another system, and have another user try
on her system. It might be an account issue rather than a machine
specific issue, and if that case we need to look at running GWCheck
Contents Analyze/Fix and checking the resulting logs.
Also do purge of temp files (such as with CCleaner) and run a disk
    defragment.

  • Group Policy and GroupWise Attachments

My company uses the "Run only allowed Windows Applications" feature from Group Policy to lock down what can be run on our workstations. We have 2 main policies, a standard (lockdown) policy and an admin (open) policy.
Ever since a 7.0.2 GroupWise client/server upgrade, under my lockdown policy some of my users have complained that when they click the attachment button in GroupWise it no longer goes to the location of the last attached document, instead it goes to a default location. It might be the D drive, the GroupWise directory, it changes from computer to computer. I have confirmed that this is the behavior of the lockdown policy, and when I switch to the open policy the attachment button goes to the previous attachment location as is expected.
I've placed addrbook.exe, grpwise.exe, gwmailto.exe, gwreload.exe, gwsync.exe and notify.exe in my allowed list for executables and can't figure out what I might be missing. In the past I ahve found OCX and DLL files that have had to be specifically added to the policies as well to get certain functions to work, is it possible that this may be the case in my situation or could it be a completely different policy that I should be looking at?
I'm getting ready to push the 8.0.2 clients to my users and this is something that I'd like to try to resolve before I do that push. Thanks!

I just tore apart my group policy and found that using the Hide These Specific Drives and hiding the C: drive is what is causing this attachment behavior issue. Any ideas why it is causing this and any possible work arounds other than unhiding the C: drive?

  • Minimal open ports for groupwise to use by vpn

    Hi,
What are the minimal ports that need to be open to use groupwise online
remotely (by use of vpn) ?
We use the novell client 4.91sp4 and groupwise 7.0.3hp on windows xp sp2.
    - dns resolving for both udp and tcp are authorized and an user
authenticates to the FQDN like mail.domain.com
    - port 1677 is open, but then it takes 10 minutes, before you can do
    anything.
    - after monitoring with an account with full rights to every protocol and
port, we see NCP being used, so after having this authorized, it is already
    much better.
Still have to wait 1 minute.
Could it have something to do with the primary or dns suffix entries?
We do not use primary or dns suffix entries, so these are empty. The
connection suffix is being set by the dhcpserver. So this name differs for
    each person at home.
What we see in the capture is that the groupwise server name is being
accessed by its hostname, like <servername>.<connection suffix>
An enduser can not resolve these server names remotely, unless the FQDN is
    being used.
We do not wish to change primary of dns suffix entries, and prefer changes
on the serverside instead of clientside, but is this possible in this
    situation?
Anyone has experience with this ?
Also some icmp request are being made. Is it required to allow icmp to the
    groupwise server?
    regards,
    Marcel
by the way : if we remove the novell client, then only port 53, 1677 are ok
and performance is ok (within 10 seconds groupwise client opens)

    Hi Craig,
Thanks for your answer, but how do you explain that adding ncp (524) over
    tcp is decreasing the timeout?
In the Groupwise client options the archive and views are all located on a
netware server using the UNC syntax.
I do not see the public ip in the traces. In fact when tracing with a client
with restricted rights, I do not see anything at all. I need to trace with
all rights, to see what possibly could be used as protocol. Then I noticed
ncp (524) being accessed. So after that I authorized that and it was like a
    dream came true.
However.... like I said. only with the novell client (4.91sp4) being used.
without novell client it just works fine. In vista with both novell client
and vpn client the slow gwclient also does not appear.
    regards,
    Marcel

  • Synch with Groupwise Causes alarms to be set at 12:05 AM

    Hi,
I have a Black Berry 8700 and I have the 4.7 desktop client and am synching with Groupwise 7.0.3.  When I synch my calendar items they get transferred to my BB with an alarm time of 12:05.  I have my default alarm time set to 5 minutes prior to the appointment start time set in both Groupwise and on the BB.
If I manually change the appointment notify time from say 875 minutes to 5 minutes it will synch back to GW fine. Has anyone seen this and more importantly what is the fix.
    Thanks
    Dan

Install GroupWise Client 7.0.3 HP1 - (In Novell GroupWise versions earlier than 7.0.3 HP2, the alarm time was relative to a minimum value (midnight, 30 December 1899), whereas Novell GroupWise 7.0.3 HP2 and later, the alarm time is based on the current date and time.)
     This solved my problem!!!!

  • Notify popup window size

    Hi,
Is there a way to change the Notify popup window size (especially width)?
Sometimes I got emails where the subject is quite long, and quite important information is at the end of the subject. The default width of the popup window is not enough to show the full subject.
Thanks in advance for any tips.

    Hi,
Unfortunately I too can't figure out a way to do this.
Perhaps one of the GroupWise guru's knows something that we don't ;)
    Cheers,

  • Prob w Notify Link hosted sync for smartphones w GW 7

We are doing a hosted sync using Notify Link for our Droid and iPhone users...a couple of users have had regular rollbacks on phone email, where it syncs mail from three weeks ago, and wipes off current mail. After this happens, mail will start to sync normally, but then it happens again randomly. Notify Link is telling us that the message ID's are changing on our mail server, and then the old messages are looking like new messages...it is not happening w everyone, just a couple of users, no common denominator. Just wondering if this is something that could be happening through Groupwise? We are at 7.02...
    Thanks for your help! Mary

  • GroupWise Resource Rename Oddity

Running GW8.03 HF3 on fully patched Netware 6.5. Client build 105538 on Win XP.
We've recently renamed a couple of our GroupWise resources (both meeting rooms set as Places in their GW objects, both have been in place for years). Everything went fine, we created aliases for the old names and we can add new appointments. The accept/decline rules we have in place still run on them.
However, and I'm sure I'm not dreaming this, when you used to invite a Place to an appointment the client used to populate the Place field in the appointment automatically with the place you'd invited. Now it doesn't, this worked up until the rename, and I'm sure I didn't set anything up to make this happen, it did it out-of-the-box.
I have just tried creating a new Resource and it also doesn't put anything in there. So either I'm losing the plot or something odd is happening to new/modified Resources.
I have tried running an Analyze/Fix Databases (Structure Check) on the Meeting Room, it came back with no errors.
Any ideas? Or am I dreaming?
    TIA,
    Mark.

I suggest that you close GroupWise and Notify on the affected PC. Browse to the GroupWise directory - it's somewhere in "Program Files" delete the OFVIEWS directory. Replace it with a fresh copy from your SDD on your GroupWise server.
Then, start up GroupWise and test.
Please let us know how it goes.
    Cheers,
Thanks, for that. All working now.
All I had to do was close GroupWise and Notify and reopen and it started working properly, didn't even look at OFVIEWS. Before I did that I tried choosing create appointment for the Meeting Rooms from the Addressbook and that populated the right bits, it still didn't fix the issue when typing into a blank appointment though until the restart. I know the mantra of turn it off and back on again so well I should have tried it first, but the issue seemed so specific as to be some kind of config thing due to the rename.
    Thanks for your help.

  • Cannot install EMET Notifier 4.1 or 5.0 Tech Preview

I uninstalled EMET notifier 3 to try out the new 5.0 tech preview. However when trying to install I get an error saying "There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A DLL required for this install to complete could not be run. Contact your
    support personnel or package vendor."
I tried installing 4.1 and get the same error. I am running Windows 8.1 Home Premium and have .Net 4 installed. I have turned on verbose logging, apologies for the massive amount of data but I didn't want anything to get missed.
The log file is below. Can anyone suggest what might be going wrong?
\Edit - The log below is pretty heavy reading, but the line that seems to be causing the trouble is:
CustomAction DIRCA_CheckFX returned actual error code 1157 (note this may not be 100% accurate if translation happened inside sandbox)
    Solution
The solution is to go into c:\users\"username"\AppData\Local\ then right click on "temp" and choose "properies". Choose "security" --> edit --> add, and add the username you are using, and give yourself all rights.
I got this information from http://sourceforge.net/p/googlesyncmod/support-requests/225/?page=0

    === Verbose logging stopped: 30/04/2014  11:25:35 ===

I uninstalled EMET notifier 3 to try out the new 5.0 tech preview. However when trying to install I get an error saying "There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A DLL required for this install to complete could not be run. Contact your support
    personnel or package vendor."
    Many thanks,
    Ian
I am having exactly the same problem. But I also can't even uninstall EMET 3.0 or EMET 4.0 both of which I have installed on my machine. I get the same error message when I try to uninstall them !! I need to uninstall them so that I can install EMET 4.1
    or EMET 5.0.
I have been trying to do this for more than a month but without any luck. So any help will be much appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Mohamed

  • Notify no longer working with find friends app!

On find friends app the notify button no longer works and myself and everyone I'm trying to set the notify button has the latest update "6.1.2". Any one else having the same problem?

I didn't realize until I went to a class to lecture in front of a couple hundred students that what worked on Friday no longer worked on Monday.  (I upgraded to iOS 5 over the weekend.)  My iPad with lecture slides was plugged in 25 feet away.  I finally recruited a student to tap the iPad screen when I needed the next slide.  A nightmare.  What is usually slick and seamless was a wreck.
Here's my deal.  My remote app works fine at home where my iPod Touch and iPad are on the same wifi network.  At school they're on different networks for some reason.  Bluetooth doesn't work anywhere.  So Apple needs to find this bug and fix it.  I can't believe whoever is responsible for this didn't test this out before they released iOS 5.  Sheesh.

  • Notify RichTextEditor that value has changed

    Hi.
I'm changing value of RichTextEditor through JavaScript (with commandToolbarButton on custom toolbar inside RTE).
Now if I want to commit/submit application says that there is no changes.
As soon I type something (besides using my custom toolbar buttons to change value of RTE) everything is submitted. Obviously there are some triggers based on keyDown or something like that, to notify that value has changed. Now my question is how to notify (from JavaScript) RichTextEditor (or who else) that value is changed?
    Regards

After declaring   private RichTextEditor rte1; call the method rte1.isChanged(); the method will return true if there is a change
