Growing image fine, but shrinking image loses quality???

I am new to vector, but what I know is that it is suppose to look the same whether 30x30 o
r 3000x3000...
Several times now I have created an image at about 500x500 and then wanted to use this image in a document.
Well when I put the image into the doc and shrink it significantly, lets say to 75x75, it is nothing like it should be anymore.
Some objects lose their effects (scribble for example loses line marks) and others just lose their porportion.
Am I missing something?
Should I be working with small images and grow them to my needs instead?

Nice! Thanks
It wasnt checked... Lets hope that was it.
I save as .AI

  • Image loses quality when loaded in Java

    Images seem to lose quality when you load them in Java. Try this out to see what I mean... test_out.jpg is smaller than test_in.jpg
    import java.awt.image.BufferedImage;
    import java.io.File;
    import javax.imageio.ImageIO;
    public class ImageTest
        public static void main (String args [])
            BufferedImage img = ImageIO.read (new File ("test_in.jpg"));
            ImageIO.write (img, "JPG", new File ("test_out.jpg"));
    }Is there any way around this? I need to manipulate the image in Java, so I can't just input and output the bytes of the file.

    Well, it's basically cutting the file in half... 1.69
    MB to 862 KB. Doing the same thing in C# keeps the
    file size 1.69 MB (no quality lost), but I want to
    use Java because it's easier to manipulate pictures
    in Java. 800 KB seems a little extreme...There is a lot of difference between no size loss in a file and "no quality loss". Each time you JPG something, some quality is lost even it the size of the file that results is the same as before--it's in the JPS algorithm for comprssion.

  • Images lose quality when imported into Pages

    Hi,
    when I import images into Pages, they lose quality. They are normal jpg files.
    After the import they look a bit fuzzy. I dunno why...
    thanks

    In the Inspector "Measures" there is a button allowing us to reset to the original size.
    Of course, the picture will be smaller than the blurred one
    or
    will be too large and parts will be hidden.

  • Copying a contact with Image loses quality

    If I have a contact with a picture, and the picture is set with a mask, (zoomed in on just part of the image), when copying the contact, I lose that photo, but just the masked image is copied.  I don't recken there's any way to preserve the whole photo?
    (Other apps on my iphone will show me the whole photo of that contact, not just the masked part)

    In the future, post directly in the InDesign forum. Check your settings in print window. Make sure transparency is set to hi res.

  • SAVE AS reduces file size, but do I lose quality?

    I've got a large textbook with 4-color graphics and the file sizes can get out of control. When I replaced a single page and then doing a SAVE AS and overwriting the original, the file size dramatically reduced. Then I did a test, and found it works on all files. I am NOT resampling, or downsizing or trying to optimize. I created the PDFs using the printer's PDF specs. But if I can do a simple SAVE AS and reduce the file size, I'd like to. I've search the internet and can't find an answer. Most links were about optimizing or trying to force the file size smaller by manipulating the content.
    Thanks in advance.

    I use Indesign CS6, generate using " Adobe Preset PDF" settings I created for this printer  Have used these settings for years  without a problem. Yes, I just open, SAVE AS, and then close. NO changes whatsoever.  I suspect it removes duplicate information, but can't be sure.

  • .mov clip loses quality

    I imported a .mov clip into final cut, then I drag the .mov clip onto my timeline, but the clip loses quality when it's on the timeline.  I exported it using the h.264 format and it loses quality.  The loss of quality of the video is very noticeable.
    Does someone have an answer for this?  And, what do I need to do for my video clip to maintain its original quality when I put it on the timeline and when I export it?  Please let me know.  Thanks

  • Aperture exports most images fine but some have less color.

    This started very recently. If I choose a batch of images to export, most of them export fine but some of them have a lot less color. Its very obvious it wasnt exported correctly. Then I just export that single image after the batch is done and it exports fine by itself. Tried deleting Aperture and reinstalling, deleting the user preferences, deleting presets and whatnot, repair permissions, repair database, and rebuild database. None of those have helped.
    2 X 2.4GHz Quad Core, 20GB RAM, AMD Radeon HD 7950.

    I usually have always done JPEG Original Size but the quality at 11. I just tried all sorts of JPEG exports and the same thing happens for everything I tried. Same for PNG. BUT, if I export as a TIFF, there is no issue on original size 16-bit, but on anything else the issue comes back. If I export the originals, it exports the uncorrected RAW files and they are fine too. Im goint to attach an example image that is messed up, and also a correct one so yall can see how off it is.

  • Photos in my from my iPhone have same numbering as photos from my dig camera.  They all go into iPhoto fine but when I backup to my ext hard drive it will only save one with the name IMG 1002 and I have two separate images both with that name.  Help?

    Photos in my from my iPhone have the same numbering as photos from my digital camera.  They all go into iPhoto fine but when I backup to my ext hard drive it will only save one with the name IMG 1002 and I have two separate images both with that name.  How do I get them all to save on my ext hard drive and hope do I prevent this numbering overlap in the future?  I'm really hoping I don't have to go through and manually rename every single picture.  Thanks.

    How are you backing up the photos?  The best way is to backup the library itself as that will preserve your organizational efforts as well as all metadata like keywords, titles, faces, places, books, etc.
    You can use a backup application that does incremental backups.  Thus only the first backup is a full one and subsequent backups just copy those files that are new or changed. I use Synk Pro.  The lower cost version, Synk, will do the same job.  Other similar apps can be found at MacUpdate.com.
    OR: upload your camera to a folder on the Desktop. There you can rename the files to something that is more informative than just the file name.  I use the date (international format) along with a brief desc: 2007-1-20-adian1stbday-001.jpg.  File renaming apps can also be found at MacUpdate.com.  Also you can give the folder an informatve name which will become the Event name when you import the folder of photos into iPhoto.

  • My iphone 4s suddenly displays images from Yahoo, Google, and Flickr at low resolution. The camera on my phone works fine, but any web related photo content is now pixelated and low res, what's the deal?

    My iphone 4s suddenly displays images from Yahoo, Google, and Flickr at a low resolution. I have IOS 7.0.4. My phone camera works fine, but any web based photo content from Safari, Yahoo images, Google images, and Flickr all come in pixelated and low res. What's the deal?

    It happened to me but later I figured out that cellular signal was not that great and so the Internet was very slow. It took me about 2 minutes to get the full resolution picuture on either of the app you've described. Try to get faster internet either by wifi or good signal and then check.

    The audio is coming through my speakers fine, but there is no image of the TV Show or Film. Has anyone else had this issue and solved it?

    I had the same thing recently when trying to play a video held in my itunes movies folder on my Macbook pro, through the Apple tv airlink to watch on my TV. I could hear the sound play back fine, but there was no picture/video.
    It then dawned on me that the 'Apple tv' box can only show 720p resolution, and I was trying to play back a full hd (1080) video. I converted my footage to 720 (or apple tv version), and it now streams and plays perfectly from macbook to AppleTV.

  • CS4 opens fine, but won't open images

    Hello,
    I'm hoping someone here can help me.
    I'm on my third uninstall/reinstall of PS CS4 with the same issue. I can open the application just fine, but I can't open any files. Photoshop just hangs up when I try to open anything and won't respond. It seemed to start with PS just running laggy when it came to opening and saving files, with intermitent "not responding" notices in the top bar, but after a few seconds those went away... then a few days ago, it just stopped responding once opened.
    I know about the Wacom tablet driver problem, and I do use an Intuous3 (and I downloaded the new drivers) but even with the removal of all the drivers and the tablet from my computer completely, I'm still having the same problem.
    I'm running 11.0.2 on a Windows machine running Windows OS7:
    Processor: AMD Turion II Ultra-Core Mobile 620 2.50GHz
    RAM: 4GB
    64-bit OS
    Graphics card: ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4530
    Thank you.

    Have you tried trashing the Preferences?

  • Saving images with quality 12 increases size. Why?

    A minutely modifyed image saved with quality of 10 maintained its original size (more or less), but saving with a quality of 12 increases size.
    I would like to know why?
    I'd appreciate your comments.

    Because that's how .jpg works. Sizes of less than 10 usually compress your files somewhat, lower numbers resulting in smaller file sizes and more compression, with a corresponding loss of quality. Sizes greater than 10 also use the .jpg compression algorithm, but they choose less compression, and so two pixels that may have been compressed together at compression 10 may now be separated at compression 11 or 12, resulting in a larger file. (But that doesn't imply an increase in the quality, even at 12 there is still a slight decrease in quality in that the .jpg saved version still doesn't exactly represent what you saw on the screen)
    The amount of modification to the photo doesn't really matter in how much the space the .jpg compression takes up.

  • How do I make iPad images high quality in Photoshop?

    I'm a graphic designer and I tried setting the resolution higher with my 1024 x 768 image but it still looks crappy when viewd on my iPad 2. How do I make the image higher quality when I save it? I use Adobe Photoshop cs4.
    Thanks

    Photos that are synced via iTunes get 'optimised' during the transfer, though I don't know what the optimisation actually does (and it's not possible, as far as I know, to bypass the optimisation when syncing photos). If you want your versions of the photos on the iPad then you could try the camera connection kit, emailing them to yourself (and then saving to Photos), or one of the wifi photos transfer apps - though the photos will only go into the camera roll/saved photos album (at least until iOS 5 which should allow us to move photos between albums)

  • Geotagged iPhone Images lose exif location data

    Geotagged iPhone Images lose exif location data when emailed or IM'ed to an email address.
    I would like to have the option of sending this data (even if not by default) to the recipient.
    This feature seems to work on android and I am receiving this data in my inbox from an Android phone. The last thing I want to tell my customers is that the system I am building for them is only compatible with the Android because of this bug.
    Product roadmap information or workarounds are greatly appreciated.
    Thank you.

    Thanks for the quick response.
    There are some other apps that allow for exporting Geo Data to SMS (one example is called "GeoDataToSms" iirc). I'm subtly disappointed that third party apps would be the only solution here. I can build an app, but its adding complexity that I would rather not be worried about.
    I want my audience to send an email or SMS to an email account. That simple. The emails are then collected and the information from the message (images, exif data) is recorded in a database. When an admin visits the site they can see each image in a map and act on it. Stupid simple right?
    I think being able to email full blown photos is good enough for this round. But I think the expectation for most users (that even know geo data exists) is that geo data will be sent no matter the chosen image size. The same imo is true for SMS. I just have to limit the expectations when my users are on an iPhone. I can build an app that handles geolocation data in round twelve. And just let my iPhone audience know that their devices' cool features are limited by the software that powers them.
