Grr. Don't snap when I say no snap!
I'm tired of objects I am trying to reposition snapping back to original place. Yes: I have turned off all of the "snap" options in the view menu. Thx.

I work in enormous files. Can you imaging having to arrow up/down/left/right to get an object where you want it w/o being allowed to simply drag it and drop it???? Especially when you are duplicating objects, ie Leaves of a tree?
( like in EVERY OTHER PHOTOSHOP VERSION since the BEGINNING OF PHOTOSHOP - ahem Adobe)
This is a problem that clearly needs a patch. I hate PSCC2014. For the few extra treats, there's no need to change or eliminate what has worked so wonderfully forever.

Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.

When i tried to download iOS8 on my iPad Mini it told me that I needed to connect my iPad to iTunes, I have done that and now it says I need to restore my iPad. How can I get my iPad working without losing everything on my iPad? I don't want to lose my apps and photos!
Help would be much appreciated!If you are getting the connect to iTunes screen then it's too late to take a new backup and/or copy anything off it. Prior to starting the update did you take a backup, either to the cloud and/or to your computer's iTunes ? If not then have you recently taken a backup that might have your photos and apps content/settings in it ?
As long as the apps are still in your country's store then you should be able to redownload them via the Purchased tab in the App Store app (and the Purchased link under Quick Links on the right-hand side of the iTunes store homepage on your computer's iTunes), and if the apps store their content on a server/cloud service then you might be able to get their content back from that - if they store their content on the device then you will need to have a backup.
For our photos you could try doing a search for programs that claim to be able to recover content from a device - I haven't used any so I can't suggest one. -
I'm trying to update my ipod iOS...when it says to go into "Settings/General/Software Update", I don't have a "Software Update" option in my General category. Is there somewhere else I need to look in order to get iOS updates?
Updating from the ipod itself is a feature of ios 5 or later.
You would need to update as always. Turn on computer, open itunes, connect ipod.

Whenever I try to buy songs on my phone it goes through my credit card authentication process. When I select done it gives a message saying session timed out. This has happened mulitiple times. What do I do?

I read a solution for something that sounded similar.
Anyone in similar position:
Open iTunes app on iPhone, and pick an option from bottom, such as music. Then scroll down to bottom of page and where your iTunes ID is, press on it, and pick sign out.
Then return to home screen, and double press home button and press and hold on first icon showing, until a minus symbol appears in the top left of icons present. Press on each minus symbol on each app in turn, until all app icons have disappeared. Then Restart the phone by pressing and hold the home button and the on/off/standby button at top of phone, until the apple symbol appears in centre of blank screen.
Swipe to turn phone fully on and open settings and scroll down to iTunes and apps option and tap that. Pick sign in and put in your apple ID, it will accept it and then return to home screen and open iTunes a you'll find it works fine
Simple really, but some like me won't think f this themselves!

Charging iPad 2 with IPod cord. Seems to be charging even when it say not charging in the upper right corner. Is it because I'm not using the cord it came with, and is it ok to use an iPod cord.
The dock connector to USB cables are interchangeable on the iPod and iPad. That's not a problem. You must be trying to charge using a USB port on your Computer. If the port supplies enough power, the iPd will charge albeit very very slowly - as long as the Computer is turned on and it is awake.
You should really use the power adapter that comes with the iPad and it will charge much faster. Using the iPod cord is fine - switch to the supplied power adapter for the best results.

99 or 100% when it says Premiere Pro has stopped working and needs to close. What's going on?
I am using the premiere pro trial at the moment and have been trying to render a video for a solid week now. My computer is far more powerful then the recommended specs and yet it still takes 2 hours to attempt to export a 3 minute video (that isn't even heavily edited) and not only that but it will get to 99 or 100% when it says Premiere Pro has stopped working and needs to close. I have used earlier versions of the product before and never had such problems, even my 2 year old laptop could breeze exporting. What's going on?

I'm using Windows 8.1 build 9600
My sources are contained in .mov, .mp4 and .png. The codec I'm trying to use is H.264
After I set the project to export I got this error message every time it gets to either '99' or '100%' completed. "A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available"
I have never had such a problem with the program which makes me think it might have something to do with a recent update.
No other notable software was running during the export.
I don't have any third-party effects or codecs installed.
I have 64 bit OS and processor, Intel i5 - 4670K quad core clocked at 3.40 GHz. 12 GB of RAM. And a GTX 770 with 2GB of video RAM.
Unless it was installed in the trial, I do not have the Mercury Playback Engine.
And finally, it can be noticeably choppy during the preview when it gets to the part I don't have rendered but is fine again for a bit if I replay those parts. A part from being a bit slower then usual, I didn't actually run into a major problem until I started exporting.

Managing your time on FCP projects, knowing when to say when.
I have a question for you people out there. How do you know 1) how long things should be taking you, and 2) When you are caught up and when you're not, 3) when to say when?
In the various professions I"ve been in, I"ve either gone in to work, then left for the day, or done a job that takes a few hours and been, well, done for the day.
I'm finding that working on larger projects that might take weeks or a month, I can't relax and do anything else, because it feels like I'm never finished as long as something remains to be done. This is probably aggravated by not really having a sense of time as to how long something should be taking, due to inexperience. So it feels like each project eats up my life with no end in sight.
But if you are working on larger projects, and eventually it will be several at a time, I'm never going to be 'finished,' as long as I am in business. And when your office is in your bedroom, it's always there looming - although I did recently move it into an armoire to visually make it go away. Still it's hard to take a day off, or go out with friends, or concentrate on other life areas when you know you still have so much stuff waiting to be done. And even when it is done, there are still tutorials, skill development tasks, I can work more on the demo, etc.
Your take on this? Has anyone who has been doing this longer, solved this? I love my budding business but want to have my life back also, and want to be careful not to burn out before things even get going.Thanks for the many awesome suggestions you guys. These boards are such a great place to learn how other people do things!
Do you guys plan out your whole project - log your time codes, log your shots for capture, do some kind of storyboard, or other types of planning? Or do you just dump the whole tape to capture? I'm curious what people's workflow is that helps them stay organized and cut time.

Yes I am learning this, for sure! Sometimes it's just inexperience - that whole area of stuff you don't know yet. But sometimes it's just haunted equipment. I did a DVD for an anniversary couple, and had been up all night. Reluctantly I told them I would go do the presentation since their setup woudn't work for whatever reason, I don't remember now. I went home to add something in and burn a new DVD. The entire project crashed in DVDSP - would not open - missing file reference blah blah blah ... and I had to rebuild the entire thing from scratch right then. And then, a cord broke at the presentation - but because of forethought, I had another on hand.
Then there was the "Compressor" fiasco (See the "I can't believe this! F#%$&* Compressor!" thread) at 3 AM. Etc. But even though it was the eleventh hour, because I had planned ahead and left extra time, it allowed for time to correct problems with the drives and sequences that arose earlier that week. It all got done. Otherwise it would have been hosed.

Oh man I feel yer pain. LoL - first job - except in my case it was the best friend. And I was up all night, also. Thanks so much to the people on the board who carried me through that and patiently answered the most basic questions. It's embarrassing to remember them now. I did not anticipate how steep the learning curve would be and threw myself into a job without even understanding basic concepts. With the best of intentions - I didn't realize what was involved and I thought it would be a simple project that would be easy to learn-as-you-go. I thought "hey, I'm a quick study - got a graphics background - great on a computer - piece of cake!"
Fortunately the learning curve has kicked since then but it sure was trial by fire! -
As of my update to iOS 7 on my iPhone 5, Siri seems not to be able to find my fiance in my contacts. Her name is there, and Siri recognizes her name and spells it correctly when she says, "I don't see S*** R****** in your contacts... perhaps you meant one of these?" and then delivers a list of people sharing my fiance's first name.
I also have her associated as my "girlfriend" in the contact. If I say, "call my girlfrend", Siri calls her right up. No problem.
While I could just always say "call my girlfriend", I have to assume that there's at least one more person in my contacts with which this issue will arise in the future, so I want to know how to solve it. I've reset the phone, I've deleted and re-added the contact...nothing seems to work.
Any advice?I have this issue also. I ask Siri to call a contact, it repeats and spells the contact exactly as it is in my contacts, then says it cannot find it. This happens for multiple contacts...

Text objects don't snap properly
Has anyone noticed that text objects (and in particular point text objects) don't snap properly to guides even if Type Object Selection by Path Only is checked in Preferences? I'm on CS2 but on older versions of Illy this was never a problem. The objects appear to snap, but when you zoom in you can see that the snap wasn't accurate and the text point didn't stop on the guide.
Neither does Average work for text points any more. Sure you can use Align, but this sometimes produces unexpected results because it seems to measure the type itself and not the points as you would normally expect. The same thing applies to Distribute Spacing. It produces unevenly spaced lines instead of distributing spaces between points or groups of points.
Has anyone got a method of aligning the points of text objects accurately? I always used to use Cmd+Alt+J (either vertical or horizontal) but there seems to be no way of doing this any more. Maybe it has been corrected in CS3, but it seems that there are so many bugs in CS3 that I don't think I want to go there.It's been my experience with iDVD in iLife that it is only for basic, quick & easy dvd creations with some presentation. I currently use DVD Studio Pro by Apple and it gives you the option you are looking for commonly referred to as motion marker points. Anyway, I hope this helps.

The external links continue to work fine, though.
This doesn't make any sense to me at all ... but I'm hoping one of you kind folk can help?I opened my file and instead of merging files I used insert pages and inserted all of the pages from the file I wanted. Then I saved the file with
the same name. Attached is a rough draft of some helpful hints I put together. This has been a very painful process for us to discover how to handle
this and there really is not much help from Adobe.
Instead of merging files you inset pages. In Acrobat select Document - Insert pages -From file. You can select all pages or some and where you want them inserted. After you do that save the file not save as and all of your links should work. If you combine files or merge files all of the links will break.

I think it's something to do with naming, but I can't figure out what. This is because it asks to be saved and gives me a Binder no as the name. If I
press Cancel at that point, I keep the file and the links. But as soon as I need to close it, it asks me again 'Do you want to save this file' and if
I say 'Yes', I lose all the links, and if yet if I say 'No', I lose the whole file. So at some point it has to be saved but whether I keep the Binder
no name when I save it, or use the original name, it makes no difference ... it is in the saving of it that it looks the functionality, and yet, if I
don't save it, I lose the file.
This makes no sense to me....I hope it does to one of you.
For instance, Christine, how did you keep your file if you couldn't save it?
