Grub error 17 problem

Having updated my BIOS, I'm now getting Grub error 17. Having followed the instructions in the wiki, fdisk tells me that there is nothing to fix. At this point I'm unclear as to why I'm having a problem and how I might fix it. My menu.lst points to root as being /devmapper/vg-sysroot - which is correct.

There are two solutions to GRUB ERROR 17:
Use a live linux CD (anything will work that has a boot loader on it that you can use to boot load and get back into your system, just point it to your kernel), One of the older Arch Linux CDs has one that will install command-line grub right to the partition.
Once you get into your machine up and running (possibly schrooted) re-run grub installer.
There are other methods: booting from g/i/PXE floppy disk/CD image/memdisk or GRUB4DOS.EXE
If you can get into grub command-line (which is usually not the case with error 17), you can manually point grub to your kernel, just by typing the lines you have posted (menu.lst) above one line at a time.

Hello everyone,
Here is my situation. I had a dual boot setup on my toshiba S855D (Win 8/Ubuntu 12.10). After a few months my win 8 install was giving me strange errors. I decided to do a full reinstall using the recovery USB I made. (I had reinstalled once before) When I plugged in my USB after restarting the computer (in USB as first boot), I got the error: 'Grub error. Can't find gpt 7' If I tuned off UEFI, the computer could at least detect the USB but not do a reinstall. Thinking it was a Grub error I formatted the HD (using an ubuntu liveUSB). The problem persisted. I installed boot-repair on ubuntu and tried that, but no effect. I have tried to install an updated bios from the CD image in the bios zip, but it wouldn't execute the commands in the ini file. I even tried to install an old xp disk I had to see if I could install the bios update that way, but the windows install repeatedly froze.
Quick version: dual boot (win8/ubuntu)->try to reinstall win8, "error: Grub Error: Can't find gpt 7", when usb is attempted to be booted from. ->Wiped hdd, but problem persisted. -> tried many ways to fix, but nothing works.
I have been reading many forums for the past few days, and nothing looks to work. Any and all help would be really helpful.

I finally got it!
After much poking around the internet, I was finally able to identify my problem. My bootx64.efi in the EFI/Boot folder wasn't working. I found this out by putting UEFI shell on another usb and using that to test my *.uefi files. Thankfully, I had a backup of my EFI folder from my initial Ubuntu install. This had a backup made my ubuntu. (bkpbootx64.uefi) I ran the backup and the USB worked!
On another forum someone (Agent268) said this, which may help. I'm guessing you need to have a windows pe DVD/USB to make this work though.
"You should be able to use DISM to manually reimage this bad boy using the WIM or SWMs on that USB recovery flash drive."

Grub error 15

Hello,
I did a fresh install of Arch with XFCE4. I got GRUB error 15. Their have been several threads with possible solutions. As a noob i don't know how to start. I did a clean install this morning and after full installation i stumbled into same problem. No matter what i change i Grub line i get same error. I have tried to change kernel package name suggested here http://www.archlinux.org/news/changes-t … filenames/
This is how i setup my system.
sda5 /home
sda6 swap
sda7 /boot
sda8 /
Grub
root (hd0,6)
kernel /vmlinuz26 root=/dev/sda8 ro

per misc post on the forums this issue is due to performing a full system upgrade after a cd based install. the system is upgrading multiple packages and according to the bug reports it is an issue with the mkinitpcio package.. when it attempts to create the kernel image and mount proc properly. the bug report is now closed and the fix is still not clear to me personally.. has anyone been able to successfully create the new kernel image before exiting the live cd?

First install, GRUB error 13

Hey, so I downloaded the core image and booted from it. I am at a grub menu that gives me the options to boot from live cd (or no sata) and a bunch of other grub stuff.
when I try to boot from live CD, I get a
GRUB error 13: invalid or unsupported executable format.
I tried booting the ISOLINUX image, and that got me to the installer, but I am set up on wifi with no way to connect to the internet via a cable, so I can't do an FTP install with the ISOLINUX image. Any ideas here? I can't get anywhere right now...

You might want to get a testing build, the official images are a bit old (in the "announcements.." subforum). Also have a look at the unofficial archboot images, they use syslinux and provide core.

I have several mailboxes that are was moved from Exchange 2007 to Exchange 2010.
Sometimes occurs a problem: in OWA may appears error "A problem occurred while you were trying to use your mailbox" when selecting interface elements (such as "Options", "Public Folders",
"Reminders"). After this error user cannot access to mailbox through OWA during 10 minutes. The error "A problem occurred while you were trying to use your mailbox" appears in top of browser window on any computers. This behavior is manifested
in any browser, but it can not be associated with any particular event.
Access to mailbox through Outlook or through mobile devices (ActiveSync) continues to work fine in this time.
The errors in Application log on Client Access Server is absent (including error with EventID 9646). ExBPA is not showing anything specific to that error message. Test of OWA connectivity working successfully.

Event 9646 occurs if a MAPI client opens more than the default value. You can follow the steps below for troubleshooting:
1. Run regedit, and then click OK.
2. Expand the following registry subkey:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\MSExchangeIS\ParametersSystem
3. Right-click ParametersSystem, point to New, and then click Key.
4. Type MaxObjsPerMapiSession, and then press ENTER to name the new subkey.
5. Right-click MaxObjsPerMapiSession, click New, and then click DWORD Value.
6. Type Object_type, and then press ENTER to name the object.
Note: Object_type is the name of the object type in the error message that is mentioned in the "Symptoms" section.

- surpress the DacfErrorPopupLogger
- alert the user that an error has occured with a simplified popup (create a global listener then use the ErrorAttributes to create the text of the popup)

I used the OutPutStreamLogger to write error information to a FileOutputStream then a loggerReader to get the error attributes from the file. The reason i went in this direction is because i found some smple code on the outputStream logger.

Need tyo make sure the problem is with the query/workbook are general issue with all workbooks/query.
1. Make sure the base query of work book is still executable. RRMX/RSRT.
2. Execute the work book in Bex/Excel and look for definition of workbook; there might be some thing in the workbook referencing other than base query.
3. If other workbook are also not working? need to check if other users have same issue.?
Hope this will help to narrow the problem.

I have 400 gb of free space. 32 gb of ram.Im using Win7 64bit SP1. Have downloaded to the default folder and "tried the solutions" on the adobe troubling shooting guide. There seems to be alot of users with the same issue. Please advise.

Why i can't to repair the Grub Error 15?

Unfortunely, Arch Linux don't work for me.
I tried to fix the Grub Error 15, without success.
I have two hard disks, one installed in /dev/sda (with Ubuntu)
the other in /dev/sdb and it is where I want to install Arch.
As I do not want complications, simply i assigned /dev/sdb1 to "/" and /dev/sdb5 to swap. /home /boot /etc and other directories are in the same partition as /.
The kernel are in the /boot directory, the files are /boot/vmlinuz26 and /boot/initrd.img (i don't remember the exact name of this last .img file)
My menu.lst are as following
default 0
timeout 3
title Arch Linux
root (hd1,0)
kernel /boot/vmlinuz26 root=/dev/sdb1 ro
initrd /boot/initrd26.img
However, always shows me the Grub Error 15 (File not found).
I enter to the Grub command line
grub > root (hd1,0)
Filesystem is ext3, partition type 0x83
grub > setup (hd1)
Checking if '/boot/grub/stage1' exists... yes
Other checkings (I don't remember which now) also passed and exists (they say "Checking if 'file' exists..... yes").
But when I boot from the second hard disk, the boot fails and the damn grub error 15 appears.
Nothing and none of the tutorials that I found in Google works.
What i'm doing bad?

Here is a summary of check with efsck, to discard failures on the disk, however, had many attempts with error when reading certain blocks like this

Priemere Pro consistantly crashed upon export, I cleaned media cache and that seemed to help. Now export errors unknown problem... read to uninstall and reinstall and now I can not open up PPCS5

This has been fixed. Answer is that I needed to go to "Apple Software Update" and repair it. (From my Control Panel).
