#GS iPhone Accessories

First time post here…
I’m going to purchase a 3GS iPhone soon. What I’m scratching my head about are accessories.
Otterbox cases – I want something durable. I have been known to drop my cell phones on (many) occasions. Seems the best (?) choices are: Otterbox defender, Commuter, or Impact gel. Any drawbacks with each? Any problems accessing the “home” button through the gel material?
Are there other iPhone 3GS cases to consideration?
Morphie juice pack air. Is these worth considering? However, it ends up serving as a semi-protective case, right? Any known problems?
Charger – There’s a “incase” 2-1 wall/car charger ($35). Car chargers is always a smart accessory. This one seem practical because I can keep it in my car, but if I need to charge it inside my office…
Are all screen protectors brands equal? For example, if I go with an Otterbox, do their screen protectors work well?
Look forward to the feedback. Thanks in advance

The 3GS was never sold in the US as unlocked. If the phone is working now, leave it and do not update. If you update to iOS5 it will then re-lock to AT&T and will be a paperweight.
As for 'accessories', you have pretty much all you will need. Maybe get a case for it in case it gets dropped.
Good luck.

I want to buy iphone accessories for my iphone5, so that my iphone 5 can be more functional and more perfect.Anyone have any idea?

Here are some suggestions based off of what you'll be doing on you're iPhone. I recommend doing a search on Google since there are tons of accessories and everyone has their own preference in color, style, etc.
Listening to music - Bluetooth wireless speaker
Brands that carry these accessories: Jawbone Avantree, Kinivo
Watching movies - Get a case where the iPhone stands horizantally.
Brands that carry these accessories: Speck, MiniSuit
Taking pictures - iPhones camera is top notch. I would recommend enhancing it with these apps
    Snapseed - Image touchups
    Over - Typography
    KitCam - Image touchups
    Pic Collage - For collages
    Pic Jointer - For collages
    Instagram - Image sharing
Earphones - I think the ones from Apple are the best.
LG Tone - Good wireless headphone.
Dre Dre's Beats - Very popular.
    Riding bike
    Satechi's Bikemate
    iKross
    Hope that helps!

  • HT1665 an adapter for my iphone 5 to older iphone accessories

I have a Sony docking station with speakers but has the old adapter and wont work for my iphone 5, is there a cord to adapt my iphone to the old connector?

    follow  wjosten's advice
and don't be tempted by unlicenced ebay copies , many do not work
    charge but no sound
I use a Genuine Apple one on a Bose SoundDock 10 and it works perfectly

  • Design Software for iPhone Accessories

I am a product designer and I have started working on a new accessory for the iphone. It will be both a case and make use of the dock connector. Does anyone have any recommendations on design suites? I currently use SolidWorks for my other projects.
    Thanks.

For molded and/or machined objects, SolidWorks will work quite well. It will probably work OK for the case as well, depending on how it's made (and how good you are with SW ). Plus, you can create fairly good graphic images with it.

  • ITouch vs iPhone accessories

If a 3rd-party accessory works with the iTouch, will it work with the iPhone? Or did Apple use an iPod dock connector rather than an iPhone dock connector on the iTouch?

If a 3rd-party accessory works with the iTouch, will it work with the iPhone?
Some of them do, but I would recommend checking with the manufacturer first to make sure it's comparable. That way you won't fry your iPhone.

  • Iphone accessories - the right case for me

Ideally I would want a case that can both store the headphones neatly, and that could be propped up for easy video viewing. It would be a cross between these:

Is there anything out there like this?

As per your requirement you can go for any N-Series or G-Series Router like WRT54GS,WRT54G2,WRT160N,WRT310N etc...
All the three model no you have mentioned is having QoS option to set the bandwidth priority for your devices.

I never received a notification that my iPhone 6 is ready to be picked up, even though I pre-ordered it?
If you haven't received notification that your iPhone 6 is ready to be picked up it means the store didn't receive enough of the model you pre-ordered to fulfill you pre-order at this time, or they haven't physically reserved your pre-order yet with the inventory they did receive.

    Hi Chris.
It's asking you for my apple id password. not going to give that out, sorry.
However I did try this projector on my mother in laws iphone 4 and on my old iphone 3. ipico software isn't needed. plug and play any video through standard movie player or camera saved video.
I tried on my girls iphone 5 with the adapter. The ipico software and projector doesn't work on this phone.
Hope this helped you. Better to buy a used iphone 3 or 4 and use it for video storage.
I also found that the battery on these projectors are a joke (30-60mins max). I rigged a longer lasting battery on the outside and keep it plugged in while using. This doesn't charge the phone though so I replaced the battery in the old iphone 3 and now get at least a full length movie from it. Great in bed projected onto the ceiling.

  • IPhone 3G played through MINI iPod Adapter on Saturday; however, on Sunday

I have a BMW adapter in the glove compartment of my MINI Cooper S 2003. It was installed by the factory. It worked with my iPod photo, my iPod Touch, and my iPhone 3G on Saturday. Today it stopped working. It may have not charged the iPhone 3G on Saturday, but it played through the stereo and it sounded better than the iPod classic. On Sunday it stopped being recognized when connected to dock port on the iPhone 3G. My IPod classic still works and same with the Touch. I tried it in Airplane mode, plugging it in prior/after starting the card. I am at wits end. Please help.

Folks, it appears an adapter may soon be on the way.

Ridax offering iPhone 3G Charge Converter
    By Charles Starrett

    Published: Wednesday, July 30, 2008
    News Category: iPhone Accessories
Ridax, a company that sells various iPod Dock Connector accessories, has begun taking pre-orders for its iPhone 3G Charge Converter. The small accessory, the design of which is still being finished, will allow iPhone 3G owners to use older iPod and iPhone charging accessories that are currently incompatible with the 3G to charge the device by converting the power stream to suit the iPhone 3G. It will feature both male and female connectors, as well as a mini USB connector on the side to provide a way to charge the device when connected to a non-charging, Dock Connector-equipped accessory, and will also function as a short Dock extender. Ridax’s iPhone 3G Charge Converter will be available in September for $40; those who want the device sooner can pre-order a $45 “bare” version which will ship in August, followed by the plastic cover which will arrive in September. There is no guarantee that the converter will be safe to use with all accessories, so use caution in ordering.

  • Iphone for VGA Video Out not working

We have the Iphone/iPad VGA to Monitor connector. We tested it with 3 different iPhone 4 phones... It worked on 2 of them, but the 3rd woudn't work. What possible reason would it not work? The 3 phones had software of 4.3 and higher...

    Dr. L,
The previous iPod's did not support component video out for newer televisions that support it. The box for the older Video out cables do not say they support the iPhone.
The current video out cables are available in either component or composite video out. They also say they support the iPhone on the box.
In addition when shopping the Apple Store online for iPod or iPhone accessories there is a compatibility guide which shows icons of the iPod models or iPhone that are supported.
Overall my personal experience is that this, and other Apple specific ones, are much smaller compatibility, and downtime driver for IT than many of them I have run across supporting a variety of computer and networking platforms over the last 23 years.
    Hope this helps,
    Nathan C.

  • Iphone Videos & Video Out not working

    Hi All,
I have several TV programmes on my iphone, and yet when i plug the iphone into my TV using the apple composite AV cable, and tell the iphone to display on screen nothing happens, no sound or picture at all.
I have just moved to Chicago from London so the video setting in the Iphone is PAL, could that be what is affecting it, should I change this setting ? The TV in the apartment is quite old fashioned and a brand name I don't recognise (Insignia CRT) so not sure whether it is the TV, but it has the right inputs.
    Any ideas much appreciated
    Thanks

  • IPhone 4 bumper doesn't fit 4S

So I don't see many articles or blurbs about the bumper cases not fitting, but they don't.  The volume slider is about half way down into the case on mine.  Are they going to fix this?

Are we talking about the official Apple bumpers?
The packaging is different if you are comparing:
The iPhone 4 Bumper text on the inside of the packaging is moved down on the older model.
You can also check the UPC on the back of the box: Older bumpers have IPHONE 4 BUMPER in all caps on the UPC, the newer ones do not.
The hands on comparison: http://www.iphoneincanada.ca/iphone-accessories/apple-iphone-4-bumper-case-compa rison-original-vs-revised/
    Packaging: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AVJA70zcU50 starting at 0:45.
For other cases, you want the ones that say either Universal or fit CDMA iPhone 4 for all models of the 4S. Case makers should state if their case is only compatible with the AT& i4.

  • IPhone Cable....(dangerous?)

Is anyone else having this problem with their iPhone cable?
The wires are starting to show on mine and I don't really move my syncing port that much, only when I travel, I roll up the cable.
    Is this dangerous?

    Hey,
You can request repair or replacement of iPhone accessories online here: https://selfsolve.apple.com/GetWarranty.do
You can also make a reservation to have a Genius at a local Apple retail store take a look at it or call AppleCare.

  • IPhone $100 credit?!! and Apple Repair Service Scam!!!

To Steve Jobs, the Apple Board and Customers:
While I am happy that Apple is concerned about their customers, (and I will debade that in a moment), I cannot believe that you (Steve and Apple) went ahead with this move. Are you going to give me a $10 a share credit for the stock I bought at $140 that is now at $130 because of this pricing move and this credit?!! It's the same thing! Are all the iPhone buyers now boo-hooing because they had to buy the iPhone and didn't feel it was worth $599? You do realize that you now have set a precedent for all future pricing cuts at Apple, as everyone that has purchased a system that gets a price cut will slam Apple with email complaining they paid too much, etc. I want a credit for the money I have lost due to the discounting of my stock for this rediculous iPhone price cut. You guys blew it!!
Second problem regards a service problem. My 12" powerbook to a drop off the couch a year ago. Still working fine. Decided to get the bottom aluminum case plate replaced, as it is causing too much pressure on the DC inboard recepticle for the power cord. Took it in and got a $600 cost. Ok, way over-priced, but better than new systm! Sent it out. Less than a week later, I got a call from App,e, saying that the service team that inspected my system needed to also replace the DC inboard (fine) and the Hard Drive. The Hard Drive worked fine at the store before sending it off. I qouted the back of the service agreement stating that any damage of the system in Apple's care is Apple's problem, so replace it, but not at my cost. The Apple rep said that this did not qualify, as the "crashed" hard drive was due to the drop. I explained there was not drive problem until Apple shipped it, so get the cost from the shipper insurance. Apple rep said the cost was mine to bear and they would not proceed with the repairs unless I agreed to replacing the DC inboard and HD at an additional cost of $375 (3 times market cost from local Appple authorized repair facility). I continued to question the HD crash. She stated that the repair facility said it crashed, no longer operational. I said I can get these parts for a much better price, send the unit back as is.
Well, unit came back and is FINE!!!! HD works perfectly!!! Ran a diagnostic (I am a certified Sun Microsystems and HP System and server administrator!!!) on the drive and no sector damage or HW problems from the read/write testing. DC inboard is still functional. Apple sent this to Flextronics International. I say, CHECK YOUR SERVICE PROVIDERS APPLE, AS THEY ARE COMMITTING FRAUD ON THE APPLE CUTOMER BASE AND YOU FOR WARRANTY REPAIRS!!! I am not making this up, I have the documents proving this and my system is working right now as I type this. I hope to hear from someone at Apple to contact me on this issue, as the store and 800-MyApple jst softly skirted the issue with, "I'm sure there is a problem with the hard drive and it was not working at the repair facility. It is just on its last life and just happens to be working now." Are you kidding me?!!! I wonder if the New York Time would be interested in this problem?!!!
I also noticed the service agreement states that all replaced parts will be replaced with either new, reconditioned or USED parts. GREAT!!! They would take my drive out, put it in someone elses "crashed" drive and take their drive and put it in my computer and get a huge markup for nothing but labor!!!
I am glad I no longer own Apple shares, and anyone who does, beware of this and other devaluing business decisions or over-sight lacking of Steve Jobs, the Apple board and company!!
    Sincerely,
    Eric

The messed up thing is that I thought I could use the credit on iTunes over time as I buy music, audiobooks, etc., but noooooo, they won't let you use the credit for either iTunes or for the purchase of an iTunes gift card. Truly an empty promise. I purchased all of the needed iPhone accessories (docks, cases, adaptors) before the credit was announced! Now there is nothing else really relevant to buy from the Apple Store (retail or online) if they aren't going to let you use iTunes. I guess I could return the extra dock I bought and then re-buy it with the credit. Now, where is that receipt and packaging?? The only other things they sell for iPhone that I don't have are the crystal film and another one of those silly little adaptors you have to use for a car cassette device all b/c of the recessed jack on the iPhone. It shouldn't be this way, particularly with Apple.
