GS60 2PE(Ghost Pro 3K)-097US-BB747116G1T0DX81M

Hello! VMware says that vt-x is not enabled on this computer, even though the CPU should support it. I don't see the option to enable this in the BIOS. Is it possible that MSI's BIOS version disabled it? If so, I'd like a BIOS that would allow me to enable it and other similar features. Please contact me as soon as is convenient for you.
Laptop: GS60 2PE (Ghost Pro 3K)-097US-BB747116G1T0DX81M
OS: Windows 8.1 64-bit
Motherboard: MS-16H2
Motherboard BIOS version: E16H2IMS.104
Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 870M
EDIT Svet:
Flash your bios to the latest version and VT-x will be enabled, there is no option for it but its enabled by default

  • GS60 2PE Ghost Pro - Windows install

    Hi,
I've recently bought a GS60 2PE Ghost pro which come with a SDD and a HDD with Windows 8.1 installed.
I would like to do 2 things and would like to know the best way to do it :
    - Moving windows onto HDD
    - having Ubuntu 14.10 on SSD (this will be my main OS)
I prefer Windows 7 over Windows 8 but I don't have any licence for Windows 7. Is it legit to downgrade to a Windows 7 ?
If I use Windows 7, I think I would have to reinstall completely so I just need to directly install on HDD. However I'm not very familiar with UEFI and I don't know what should be looked at.
If I use Windows 8, I would like to clone the SSD partitions to the HDD, or, if possible, directly install windows 8 on the hdd using the recovery functions.
What would be the best way to do that ?

you can't downgrade to windows 7 and you must have license to re-install your windows 8 to windows 7 so do a USB recovery first before proceeding this incase you want to re-store your laptop to factory default in future , to install windows 8 on HDD or windows 7 you can do it yes but you still need a license for windows 7.

  • MSI GS60 2PE Ghost Pro 3K Edition

Does the MSI GS60 2PE Ghost Pro 3K Edition have a backlit keyboard like the MSI GS60 2PE Ghost Pro?

    Taken from:
    http://www.msi.com/product/nb/GS60_2PE_Ghost_Pro_3K_Edition.html#overview
"Keyboard by SteelSeries with LED back light and solid feedback design"
I would assume that means it does.

  • DirectX 11 games don't work on MSI GS60-2PE Ghost Pro

I have MSI GS60-2PE Ghost Pro
Every game, that uses dx11 doesn't load. It just gives a black screen. If I try to launch the game on the intel hd graphics card, a game launches (with obvious lack of perfomance). I tried installing the latest drivers, switching to some old drivers, but it didn't help.

ah your having same problem as me Alienizer my gs70 came back from repair with a broke GTX 870M that couldnt play anything on DX11 so to confirm this install futurmark 3DMARK 11 then tell me if you get this error DXGI_DEVICE_HUNG if it does then your GTX 870M is broken and you would have to send it to MSI Service where they can repair under warranty hopefully if your laptop is still new
Update: this type of issue cannot be fixed by drivers switching or upgrading since issue will presist so this is mostlikely a failure in GTX 870M chip itself so yeah if futuremark 3DMARK 11 throws above error then i can confirm GPU of yours is dead it isnt doing preformace because it's broken.
Update 2: Sorry i meant to say install Futurmark 3DMARK 11 then run a full DX11 test durring load if you see loadbar behaving weird like it becomes out of place and you see white dots above thats sign of GPU is failing so then aprox half way the bar will load but then freeze and shortly after it will exit and program will throw a window log with DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_HUNG near bottom of log.

  • MSI Global GS60 2PE Ghost Pro Wifi and Sound problems

    Hello!
I have just recently bought a new GS60 Ghost Pro and I must say I am a bit disappointed. I have two issues that I'd like to resolve as soon as possible.
First and foremost, the WiFi. The Intel 7260 WiFi card simply isn't working properly. I have to stay within 5 meters of my router to get decent speeds. When I go to another room, the connection speed drops to roughly 20 times less than it was. This does not even happen even on my 6 year old Dell. (!) I have tried installing the latest drivers and I am 100% positive it's not a router issue. How can I fix this?
EDIT: I forgot to mention that WiFi even drops out during online games. Can't really think of anything more frustrating on a freaking GAMING laptop!
Secondly, I have noticed that only the bottom side speakers are working on my machine. This means sound quality is horrible. I have checked "sound devices" and there I have the possibility to either make default the top side speakers or the bottom ones. How can I make them both work at the same time?
Should I take my machine back to the seller?
    Really hoping you can help

For the wifi, try to do the settings from the FAQ link.
    1. http://www.msi.com/faq/nb-1178.html
    2. http://www.msi.com/faq/nb-1084.html
If issue still remains, then send it to the service center.
As for the speakers issue, tell us your OS version and the audio driver version you're having now.

  • GS60 2PE Ghost Pro extra power adapter - UK

    Hi,
I live in the UK and I would like to buy an additional power adapter for my Ghost Pro. I've called MSI and they don't have any to sell.
I've googled the model number of the power adapter (ADP 150VB) but I don't see any for sale in the UK. There are some available on ebay but they are shipping from the US. Does anyone have any ideas or maybe you have purchased an extra one in the UK.
    Thanks

best luck for you is to check ebay.co.uk, ebay.de, ebay.com and amazon.de, amazon.co.uk, amazon.com these 6 websites usually have most stuff you need within EU or at least shipping from China where product is made.

  • GS60 2QE Ghost Pro 4K (970M) Mustard-Yellow.

Hey, I recently purchased the Ghost Pro 4k (4th i7) a couple of weeks ago. While there is almost everything to like about the laptop, yellows are displayed inaccurately and frankly looks pretty hideous in many cases, from darker than normal yellows to bordering green. I'm curious if anyone else has this issue and whether or not this can be fixed. I have updated all my drivers and have attempted to calibrate the display with absolutely no effect whatsoever to how this monitor outputs yellow.
The more I think about it the it's making me want to return this, which is a shame because I love almost everything else about this laptop.
Just figured I'd bring this up to see if there's any way of fixing this which doesn't include voiding the warranty or if I should return it (I'd obviously rather not do that, but it is an option I am willing to take if deemed necessary).
    Thanks for your time.
    Kind regards,
    Mark.

This seems the limitation of that panel. You can use NVIDIA Control Panel to adjust the color or contact MSI service to provide some kind of calibration tool to reduce the problem.

  • Help with msi gs 60 2pe ghost pro

    hi
I wanted to check, I about 2 weeks ago I bought my 1st laptop gamer gs60, and when I see videos and movies using both the graphics card and gpu, playback is labeled at intervals that vary, but always passes are small accents but notice and gives me very angry that happen. The laptop I have it connected to power without using the battery, set the control panel, but still continues with those little accents.
Also download and perform benchmarks 3d-mark and everyone was always pulling less than 25 fps, and as we were dealing, perform the Firestrike and 3d-mark in both 11 and did not get more than 25 fps and the last test of fire strike of gpu and cpu pulled me 8 fps
It may be a problem of hardware environment ??
The driver nvidia are accurate and do not touch anything of intel panel.
I hope you can help me, thank you very much

This model has NVidia Optimus technology and video playback programs such as PowerDVD are using iGPU not dGPU. You can find it out in NVdia control panel.
So, the performance of 3DMark or other 3D benchmarks can't tell what is going on because they are using dGPU.
To have a smooth playback experience, you need
    1. The video content (file) is not corrupt or incomplete
    2. Have the correct and up to date codec and playback software
    3. The notebook is in good condition and relevant drivers are up to date
For the driver, it's better to use the latest driver on MSI website because the generic driver on NVidia or Intel webpage is not approved by MSI.
About 3DMark 11 or Firestrike, can you share the score with us?
Btw, when performing the benchmarks, make sure the dGPU is in use.
    Nvidia graphics driver 347.88
    nvidia System Software 9.14.0702
    2.2.2 geforce nvididia experience.
On page MSI, when I enter and select my model appears driver GeForece gtx 860m but my laptop comes with 870m, it is the same ?? or I have to find some other model with the driver of the 870m?
Regarding the benchamark did the demo Firestrike in 1080 I leave a link where you climbed the videos of it.
The movie I saw was alien resurrection which is old but still could not see the fluid film.

Thank you for reply. I think I downloaded the right stuff since the downloaded file's name was <860M>. I will download the vbios via msi gs60 offical page and go by dos mode. But do you recommend to flash it cuz i did run 3d mark 11 for 3-4 hours constantly and found no error to force quit. All I concert is fan speed (min. 3333 rpm for normal use from the DGC interface) and the noise but I am not sure if the new vbios can do anything good about that. Thanks again.

  • GS60 Ghost Pro - Some parts of Steel Keyboard are not illuminated

    Hi,
I bought myself a GS60 2PE Ghost Pro a couple of days ago. The Keyboard illumination was working fine at first, but today I noticed that some parts of my Steel Keyboard are not illuminated anymore. My laptop was updated by Windows Update Manager, so I thought it had something to do with newly installed updates. But I did a full system recovery with F3 and the keyboard is still not illuminated properly.
Any ideas what can fix this issue?

I have checked out the GS60 2PC (same generation as yours) and I saw what you mean.
I didn't notice this before when I tested the GS60 models.
When looking at the keyboard on smaller angle (<70°) you can see there is less light coming from the F1, F7, F8, F9, F11, TAB, CAPS, SHIFT, ENTER and Numpad keys.
The amount of light that is visible below the keys isn't consistent everywhere and that seems to suggest that the keyboard back-lighting isn't working properly at those keys.
Looking below the F7, F8, F9 keys, I see that only the top left part of the key is illuminated, while other keys (i.e. F2..F6) are also illuminated on the right part of the key.
I have checked with our R&D department and this is a design choice.
The F2..F6 keys have a symbol in the top-left and the bottom-right part of the key and the F1, F7..F9, F11 only have a symbol in the top-left, which doesn't require lighting in the lower right part of the key.
This also applies to the bigger keys (TAB, CAPS, SHIFT, ENTER and Numpad keys), only the center of the key where the symbol resides is illuminated.
When looking at the keyboard in dim/dark rooms the keyboard back-lighting works as expected and keys can easily be identified because the symbol on the key lights up.
I hope the attached pictures clarify the situation (It isn't easy to capture the real effect with a simple digital camera. The situation in the pictures actually look worse than viewing it in real life).
    P.S.,
More pictures and a video in the attached Zip file.
The video might show the situation the best.

  • GS60 2PE Sound Problem To low

Does anyone know how to make my sound louder?  I have windows 7 pro and the sound has always been to low when I play music, youtube, etc.
    Any Info would be helpful
    Thanks
    Chris

Have you installed Sound Blaster Cinema 2 (SBC2)?
    http://www.msi.com/support/nb/GS60-2PE-Ghost-Pro.html#down-utility
If yes, it has smart volume feature and may automatically decrease the volume according to the peak value of the overall sound.
You can disable it in SBC2 manager first.
