GS60 Pro - Erratic battery behavior
My GS60 Ghost Pro has a strange battery behavior since I got it earlier this week.
As an example, I did a powercfg -batteryreport and got something like this:
16:23:34 Active AC 98 % 53,291 mWh
16:32:36 Active Battery 98 % 53,280 mWh
16:34:44 Active AC 98 % 53,280 mWh
17:05:58 Active Battery 98 % 53,280 mWh
17:06:04 Active AC 98 % 53,280 mWh
17:09:11 Active Battery 98 % 53,280 mWh
17:09:17 Active AC 98 % 53,280 mWh
17:18:27 Active Battery 98 % 53,280 mWh
17:18:33 Active AC 98 % 53,280 mWh
As you can see, it switches between AC and Battery by itself while being plugged in. It happens randomly. Other times charge goes to -1 mWh:
20:52:40 Active AC 100 % 53,860 mWh
21:19:44 Active Battery - -1 mWh
21:19:47 Active AC 100 % 53,860 mWh
21:34:49 Active Battery - -1 mWh
21:34:52 Active AC 100 % 53,860 mWh
I have also managed to get a "Battery not detected" message while the laptop was not even plugged. Powercfg reported:
Installed batteries
Information about each currently installed battery
No batteries are currently installed
Again, the laptop was running from the battery when getting this message.
I have tried to do an EC reset and to run the MSI battery calibration tool, but this has not fixed the issue.
Is there anything else I can try? Or is the battery defective and I should contact MSI already?
No, it`s really simple, hold your finger on an icon for a few seconds before they start to wriggle, and hit Delete, or "X" i`m not sure.

Erratic Battery Behavior after 2.0 Update
Ever since my I updated to the 2.0 firmware my battery life is horrible. I have a nearly full charge and put my ipod to sleep at the end of the day. I get up the next morning and the battery is so drained the ipod won't start up until I plug it into a computer. what gives? Do I have a defective battery? I just got this thing in May. It shouldn't be having a problem like this. I want to take it to a genius bar but I'm afraid they're just going to tell me the battery issue is from wear and tear. I do have apple care on this.
anyone else having this problem? No, it`s really simple, hold your finger on an icon for a few seconds before they start to wriggle, and hit Delete, or "X" i`m not sure.

I've being experiencing erratic battery behavior since before installing ios7 but it got worst since.
Basically the battery charge drops dramatically (this morning: from 50% to 0 when the phone stopped completely and shut down, in the space of 20 minutes, without me doing anything special) only to be told once I plug the iPhone to electricity that the battery is at 35% of its battery charge.
Any ideas? Anyone have the same problem?I'm having the same issue, but only since installing ios7. It's gotten worse today.
I was fully charged at 1:30p, listened to music until 3:30, and went to 85%.
Put it in standby, and by 5pm had gone down to 45%.
By 9pm, I was down to 30%.
Within a few minutes after 9pm, I got a 20% power warning, and the phone immediately shut down. When I tried turning it back on, it said I had to plug it into a power source.
After 10 minutes shut down without charging, I turned it back on, and it said 30% power, then immediately went to 1% and shut down again.
After a few minutes, again, I turned it back on, and it was at 30%.
After 5 minutes, it was at 19%. It went down 1% every few minutes until it got to 8% and shut down again.
I turned it back on at about 10:10pm and it was at 21%. By 10:50 it was down to 13%.
What in the **** is happening? -
Hi your help is greatly appreciated.
my macbook is 6 months old and and i am having having problems with erratic charger behavior. It varies depending on screen fluctuations and automatically switches off while switching to different applications on screen, or on switching on or turning off the computer. I am having to switch off and switch on power adaptor many times before i get my mac book charged. Battery has completed 60 cycles so far. Please help. ThanksTim Bergman wrote:
I've checked the firmware on battery; it's 1.3, presumably the latest.
The 1.3 update is the MacBook Pro update. You need to remove it before you can find out if anything else might be wrong. Leopard installs it.
Try these two locations for it. It will be one or the other.
MacBook/Library/System/Library/SystemConfiguration/BatteryUpdater.bundle
MacBook/System/Library/SystemConfiguration/BatteryUpdater.bundle
Drag it to the trash and then reboot. After you reboot you will be able to empty the trash. Once you have done that run software update and it should install Battery Update 1.2. You should reset the SMC (System Management Controller) after doing this.
Then watch your battery and see if any of the things continue to happen.
How many cycles do you have on your battery?

Just bought a mid 2012 13 in macbook pro. Battery life is only 3 hours. I was under the impression that it would last 7 hours. This is with normal internet browsing and text editing. my brightness is not all the up and bluetooth is off. Thoughts?
im having the same problems, bought my 13" MacBook Pro last week and the battery is terrible on it, but i googled it and a lot of other people are having the same issues

Erratic battery behaviour on Macbook air since latest update
My Macbook Air 11.1 is from 2011, and the battery started going bad last year. I ordered and placed a new battery in january. This worked perfectly, no problems whatsoever. This morning, I installed the latest available Apple update (unsure which one, can't find it). After that, my battery has been behaving strangely. This is what happened:
- I unplugged my laptop at one point, and moved it from my bed to desk. I went to my kitchen, returned, and the laptop had turned off.
- I put the charger in and turned it back on. I realised the battery info said the battery isn't charging and 'replace now'. Surprised, since I just got the battery this january.
- All of a sudden, the icon changed to white (it's black when not charging) and it was charging again.
- This kept happening, on and off.
- Unplugging the charger results in shutting of immediately or within a few seconds. At this moment, it's charging (at 97%). But it can change any minute.
- I tried moving my laptop around a bit, tilting it up and down, but that doesn't seem to do anything (neither good or bad).
I looked on the internet for a few solutions:
- Resetting PRAM: no differene
- Resetting SMC: no difference
- Reinstalling Yosemite completely (do you recommend this? In any specific order?)
Does anyone know what is best to try? I can also open up my laptop again and check the battery, but I doubt that's the problem. Btw, third party apps like battery diag/battery health/coconut battery all make no mention of the battery needing to be replaced.
Any help is greatly appreciated. I'm emigrating to Serbia next week, so I hope to fix it before then
I included an Etrecheck report:

There has been talk about the MacBook pro retinas battery being glued on, and the replacement costing more. I also read somewhere that if I want to replace it, then apple will have to replace the entire logic board or something? My question is that if my MacBook pro retinas battery is ex
Experiencing problems, and if it is still within the one year warranty time, then if I bring the notebook in to replace the battery, will apple charge me, or no?If MBP is still in warranty Apple will not charge for the replacement
Additional 2 year AppleCare Extended Warranty is a must for the sake of peace of mind.

MacBook Pro - After Battery dies I'm not able to type in login window, until forcing a restart
Hi, as mentioned in the header : MacBook Pro - After Battery dies I'm not able to type in login window, until forcing a restart
After the battery drains to 0% the computer switches off.... *Makes sense*
Once I put the charger power chord back in for an extended period of time I hit the power button and then see the login screen.... *Makes sense*
However it won't let me type into the login box therefore having to force a restart and lose any saved data or data open when it died of battery. *WEIRD*
This happens every time my computer runs out of battery. I understand that obviously not letting the laptop die is a good idea, however it seems like there is something wrong as it allows me to login yet won't let me type anything...
Any solutions? Anyone else experience this?
I have an early 2012 MacBook Pro - 15 Inch Screen.Hi s4mboy,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
I'd start with resetting the SMC and PRAM on the MacBook Pro:
Intel-based Macs: Resetting the System Management Controller (SMC)

OS X Mountain Lion: Reset your computer’s PRAM

Need to get a new MacBook Pro 17" Battery..ideas?
Hello all,
A few days back my MacBook Pro's battery died and I noticed it was swelled up pretty bad.
Needless to say, I desperatley need to get a new battery (MacBook Pro 17 " battery, id A1189), but am a wee bit scared to fork out £100, plus money is a wee bit tight right now.
I'd like to know if anyone here knows of anywhere where I could get a replacemnt battery at a good price? I'm based in London so it would have to be in the UK.
I've googled my brains out and found that Duracell Direct to a replacement at £74.
Any advice or directions to a trusted, decent priced vendor would be great
Regards,
RikOne thing to try is to make an appointment at the genius bar and ask them about the battery. Take both it and your Mac in. There used to be a program called "Battery Update" that replaced swollen batteries, but it is no longer in effect. However, Apple has frequently been very generous about replacing swollen batteries or selling a replacement at a discount. They should also recycle the battery for you.
Whatever you do, remove the battery immediately and don't use it any more. It could cause permanent damage to your Mac. It may leak, so place it in a plastic bag so it can't damage anything.
It is entirely at Apple's discretion what they might do, but they did give me a free replacement for a 3 year old battery with 265 cycles on it. You have nothing to lose by asking--the worst they can do is say no.
If no joy, you might want to look at OWC's battery listings. I believe they ship to the UK, and they currently have some special deals along with their line of NuPower batteries. I bought a NuPower battery for my iBook, and it has performed very well. I've heard mixed reviews about other third party batteries, and have heard nothing whatsoever about anything by Duracell.
Good luck! -
I finally resolved my Nano's erratic volume behavior. I use my Nano with a wrist band when working out. Finally figured out that it was the heat / sweat coming off my body that was causing my ipod to go haywire. I cut out a small square of foam and adhered it to the back of the Nano. Problem solved. Just keeping something between the Nano and my Skin seems to work great. I have never had the problem since. Here's a close up off the type of foam I used.
Thanks for the link. While the comments on that site do show that others are experiencing the same erratic volume issue, they don't say how to fix it, only that a nearby cellphone is the most likely culprit. I just don't see cellphone interference magically controlling the scroll wheel on my iPod. I guess I'll need to keep looking for a solution.
By the way, I have previously had many other cellphones (made by a handful of different manufacturers) and have only now experienced this with my new iPhone.
Additional thoughts?

Lenovo Vibe Z2 Pro lollipop battery drain fast
Lenovo Vibe Z2 Pro lollipop battery drain fast as hell
Moderator note: Added textYou can see what app drains your batter in "Settings -> Power Manager -> Power consumption details". You can analyze that for a bit and adjust your phone accordingly. Factory reset would delete all third party apps that could drain your batter or readjust the phone settings, but you don't need to do that as long as you can find out what apps are draining your battery.

Possibly moving from a Lenovo y50 to a gs60 pro but have a question.
Hello everyone.
I have a Lenovo y50 touch that is about to be past its return date friday, I love the laptop but sadly there are 2 things wrong with it that are bad enough to make me want another computer.
The first thing is the screen, I have adjusted the color as well as I can and it is still mediocre at best.
Second thing is, you can not use the HDMI out with the gtx 860m, it will only use the Intel graphics. Thus making the idea of the laptop a desktop replacement impossible, that and the terrible screen ruin the laptop.
My main question is if you hook HDMI cable (or the display link) to a monitor will the laptop allow you to use the graphics card for display?
If I go into my nVidia display settings when I have HDMI connected it will not show the external monitor, only the intel software shows it.
I have a week till Friday to fill for an RMA and I would like to get both laptops to compare beforehand. But if the gs60 pro will not be able to function as a true desktop replacement then there is no point in spending the extra cash.
Here is the model I am looking at.

Also what do you guys love/hate the most of the gs60 line?
Thank you!Quote from: Trea;112717

You can't change the design of external display port.
For GS60, the HDMI port is connected with the Intel Graphics, thus you can only adjust the display settings by using Intel Graphics Properties. -
GS60 Pro cannot flash bios 106 and 10B
I'm having some issues with my GS60 Pro where the screen drops out to black when fullscreening a window such as a browser, windows explorer or whatever really. Tried different drivers, no drivers, safe mode, does not make a difference.
But I digress. I'd like to try and update the bios before sending the computer in for service. Problem is, whenever attempt to uefi flash to bios version 106 or the latest 10B, I get a message that says 'Failed, Wrong Image format!'. Bios 104 flashes fine, no user error here folks.
Has anyone had issues flashing? What gives?Try to use the CRC32 tool to create the CRC code of the ROM file you downloaded.
CRC32 tool link: https://db.tt/HW7LeskD
BIOS Download link: http://download.msi.com/bos_exe/E16H2IMS.10B.zip
Check if you have the same CRC code. I have "0x798b9ba5".
Update:
1. Extract the CRC32.rar
2. Run the CRC32.exe
3. Click the "..." button to browse the BIOS file "E16H2IMS.10B"
4. Click CRC32.
5. CRC code will show up in CRC32 column. -
My Macbook pro 2010 battery life is 0% and not charging now. Where can I buy the original battery to change?
Hi Shi,
iFixit.com is one place; this is for a 15". You don't say what size you have. http://www.ifixit.com/Store/Parts/MacBook-Pro-15-Inch-Unibody-Mid-2009-2010-Batt ery/IF161-057
Also, just google 2010 MacBook Pro battery and you'll find more on eBay, etc.
Note that this is a built in battery and requires proper installation.
