GS70 2PE Stealth Pro SSD failure, need Windows 8.1 Disk/ISO

Hi all,
Right, so here's my problem... About 3 months after getting my GS70, on boot up it would go directly into bios, and not see the ssd card. After a couple of on and offs it would eventually detect the ssd and boot into Windows.
I sent the laptop in for a warranty repair, but they couldn't find anything wrong and promptly sent it back saying there was no problem, but, still the issue persisted, progressively getting worse.
After a bit of testing and fiddling and prodding, swapping out the ssd with others which have all worked, I can safely say it's the ssd which is faulty.
Now, this is where my problem lies, I've bought 3 ssd's to take full advantage of the super raid, however, there is no way of me loading windows back on to it as it didnt come with a Windows disk. What do I do? Is there anyway to get this?

when you firstly bought laptop it will have recovery software you run on first boot that lets you create USB recovery, ISO recovery or DVD recovery, so you should put old ssd's back and run software to create one then put new ssd's in and boot into usb to restore windows 8.1 to your laptop
The program you need to find is named "BurnRecovery"

  • GS70 2PE Stealth Pro Direct 3D Problem

Hi guys, I just got my GS70 less than 24 hrs ago. I updated windows, installed Elder Scrolls Online and i couldnt launch it. Screen got stucked at during intro and has huge pixels all over the screen. Sometimes, the message Kernel Driver Display Error comes out at the bottom.
Updated graphics driver. Run game, still the same.
Restore factory settings. Run game, still the same.
Restore factory, update direct x, windows, and driver. Run game, still the same. Installed Bioshoch Infinite, run benchmark, tells me Direct 3D error. Im convinced something is wrong between the graphics card (870m) and the Direct X11 is the problem.
    Anyone had this problem before?

  • Desperately in need of help regarding GS70 2PE Stealth Pro fans

    Hi
The fans have become unbearably loud lately, as in resembling a plane engine.
I noticed that the fans on the stealth pro is strongly attached to the heatsink (i think, the with the copper-looking texture) and i was wondering if it is safe to separate them, to change the parts or at least take a closer look at, and if it is easily re-attachable.
    Thanks

According to the following video, it seems that it's impossible to separate the cooper part and the fan .

I guess that you can use a laptop cooler , clear the fan or renew ec firmware.

  • MSI GS70 2PE - Stealth Pro | Audio Drivers / Microphone Issue

So i bought the gs70 stealth pro a few days ago and when i went on skype for gaming, i noticed my headset #1 mic was not working properly. The audio picked up on the mic is extremely low even when i tampered with the microphone boost.
Headset #1: Steelseries Siberia V2 Edition
Headset #2: Steelseries Siberia v2 Edition (neckband)
First i restarted my pc but that didnt do a thing.
I thought my headset broke so I used headset #1 on a different laptop (SONY VAIO), which is four years old.
headset #1's mic was working fine on my old laptop.
Then I tried using headset #2 on msi gs70 and it was working. a few hours later, i started playing csgo with my friends. they said they could barely hear me so i talked louder however that didnt do anything. it seems as though headset #2 was undergoing the same problem as headset #1.
I went onto the Realtek website to download the latest driver. I installed it, restarted pc and it didnt work.
I thought maybe it was not the correct audio driver so i went onto MSI's driver page, inputted all the information for my laptop and downloaded the correct drivers. After the installation, it still didnt work.
So then i deleted the realtek audio driver and tried both headsets.
Headset #1's mic was not working properly however headset #2's mic is fine.
I have no idea what the problem is other than the microphone input jack being messed up.
I am no expert when it comes to computer hardware. Please help.

Yes, the FAQ is for Apache not the stealth, just wonder if you experience the same problem. Anyway, try to unchecked the exclusive mode under advanced tab of microphone properties and chat with your friend in game again. Hop this could help you out. I google for a while and one guy fixed it up by unchecked the exclusive mode. Do not know if this applies to you since I unchecked it and chatted with my friend by skype, he barely heard me. But it would be ok if I ticked off exclusive mode. Strange.

  • GS70 2PE Stealth Pro - Does not start at first

Hi, for some time now that my laptop don't boot at first time i try, what happens is that every time i turn computer on when the msi logo appear it shutdown, turn it on again and it will boot up normally. Sometimes instead of shutting down on the msi logo it freezes there and a after a about 15/20 seconds the fans start spinning a lot.
Any ideas what is causing this?
    Cheers

hi, sorry to bring back and old topic, but what was the result of this?. Was a hardware fail or just software?
I'm worried because a have the same issue but I noticed this problem after several days after I installed a lot of software I need for work. So, I assumed was a software problem and I planned to fresh reset when I upgrade to SSD raid later.
After like 2 or 3 months I updated to SSD and had a fresh recovery but this problem continues. I remember had an same issue in another notebook before and with a bios update was fixed, so I updated my bios with the official on MSI web but this didn't fix it, just put a lot more options on bios only.
I don't have windows 8.1 CD to fresh install, so I want to know if this was a hardware or software problems, because if it is a software fails I can buy a CD to fresh install on the future. This because I only spend 3 seconds to boot and shutdown cycle to just start in another 2 seconds with SSD raid, so not much time and the notebook works really fast on all: intensive matlab and games (like CS, Aion, etc. with over 60 fps and for hours).
I tested several combinations and didn't work, even I let it over night after 1 cycle of boot-fail and the next works to boot even several hours later and with and without the supply adapter connected. Just because of this I presume a software issue but not sure at all.
    Thanks

  • FIXED-Radio Switch cannot start - GS70 2PE Stealth Pro

FIX -  As part of the support ticket process, I updated the BIOS which fixed the issue.
    Hi All,
Running Windows 8.1 and I've got a system boot error.
    SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION
Which has saved the following data in the systems Startup Repair diagnosis and repair log.
    Unknown Bugcheck: Bugcheck 3b. Parameters = 0xc0000005, 0x0, 0xffffd001a6538760, 0x0.
    Repair action: System Restore
Result: Failed. Error code =  0x1f
On further investigation into system hardware I've found that the Radio Switch Device isn't working.
This device cannot start. (Code 10)
    STATUS_DEVICE_DATA_ERROR
I've tried uninstalling and re-installing the device drivers but still nothing.
Anyone have any ideas? I'm wondering if this is a hardware issue rather than software? If so whats the process for getting a laptop fixed through MSI?
    Thanks

  • GS70 2PE STEALTH PRO keeps crashing with 870M

So I just purchased the new GS70 from MSI and right after I got it, I went ahead and installed the drivers from MSI's website then I proceeded to install Steam and DOTA 2 but I keep running into problem where it would keep crashing after opening the game. Most of the time, I would be able to open it and get to the DOTA 2 loading icon but it would freeze there. I can hear when the game is loaded because of the sound effects and I can press something but there would no visual change, just the logo. There are times too when I would get to the mainscreen but it would freeze also after a 10 second mark. I've tried all the drivers but still no luck for me. Also when it crash, a message saying "NVIDIA Window Kernel Mode driver stopped responding and has recovered" would appear. I also discovered that if you try to open the NVIDIA Control Panel and if you go to Adjust setting with 3D preview option, you can see how the spinning NVIDIA logo would crash there too. Anyone else having this issue too? And has anyone found a solution to this?

This pretty much confirms that there's an issue with the video card itself in my honest opinion. I would really recommend getting an RMA in process....

  • MSI GS70 2PE STEALTH PRO | FAN / WARMTH ISSUE

    Hello!
I've just bought myself a new MSI gaming laptop.
After 1,5 hrs by doing NOTHING, the fans starts to speed up a littlebit, and the front right corner of the notebook are getting a littlebit warmer.
I wonder if there is an utility to control the fans of the PC?
It's acting like this by playing spotify, being on the internet and running outlook and some other small programs.
If I start up a game, the fan's really turn on, even though i've placed the notebook upon a few strips of plastic for more airflow underneath.
It should not get that hot or start the fans in a noisy way just by being turned on and doing simple tasks at an early beginning.
Anyone has a clue about what I can do and why this is happening?

If I was you, I'll uncheck the following processes in your Startup (Oppstart) page:
    - Adobe Reader and Acrobat
    - Dropbox
    - HP Digital Imaging Monitor
    - hpwuSchd Application
    - InstallShield....................(Does this always appear in this page?)
    - Send to OneNote Tool
    - Skype....................(if you're not always use it)
    - Spotify(4)...............(Never used before. Does this application always download/upload something? Like P2P-type BT programs?)
    - Spotify WebHelper
    - Steam Client Bootstrapper
Most of them are not necessarily being loaded every time you boot up.
Only necessary when you want to use those applications.
So I usually disable those pre-loaded processes.
The reason why the temperature and the fan RPM look not related is because all GS60/70 have dual fans, one is for CPU and another is for GPU.
Dragon Gaming Center maybe only shows one of the RPM (not sure CPU or GPU or the highest of them).
So you'll see the CPU is idling but RPM is still as high as that when CPU is busy.
I remember there's new version of Dragon Gaming Center which shows the RPM info of dual fans on its GUI. Maybe it's only provided in other MSI laptop models. Need to find it.
    Thank you for responding
I have now deactivated more programs on the start up boot. I will see how things works out now.
I thought ever1 knew what Spotify was?  Spotify is a commercial music streaming service.
Seems like the install shield always appear there, yes.
I can hear the difference between those fans and also the temperature. The temperature of the GPU and the GPU fan will only be activated when I use a benchmark program.
It's only the right front fan that is making this noise. The left front fan is for the GPU and never turn itself on. Just on startup and when heavily strenghtened by graphics like benchmarking or gaming.

  • Graphic display bug on MSI GS70 2PE Stealth Pro

    Hello,
I have a graphic display bug that appears every now and then... Most of the times, it only lasts a few seconds, but sometimes it hangs bugged and I have to reboot the laptop.
I would have like to post a picture of my screen when it's corrupted, but I can't find how to join a .jpg to my message, and I'm not allowed to post an external link neither!
I have updated my drivers; both for the GTX 870M and the Intel HD Graphics chipset... but to no avail!
I hope someone will be able to help me solve the problem!
    Thanks in advance!

That isn't actually a reset hole it only cuts off the power from battery so if your etc gona do a change hard disk or something then you press in that button for it to cut off the electricity from the battery so motherboard has no power
I know what it does since samsung uses this type of thing as well on one or more models of theirs where battery is built in so you gota use pin and press this button that will cutt off the electricity to motherboard from battery.
Thanks for the input, Jakesully! The reason I brought this up was trying to give another thought as the problem was raised after BIOS update. And according to SOP provided by MSI, for some older models, they recommend removing both AC/DC power. Although I think it is just a long shot but it is no harm to give a try.

  • GS70 2PE Stealth Pro

Would a custom bios unlock the Nvidia card to enable Nvidia Surround and not have to rely on the MSI Matrix Display?

    nope, don't think so

  • GS70 2PE Stealth Pro GPU Throttling

So ever since I bought this laptop, playing any games over medium (and sometimes even low) settings renders them unplayable due to GPU throttling issues. After the GPU starts overheating after 5 mins of gameplay (somewhere around 90-93 *C) the FPS drops for the rest of the gaming session to 30-40 FPS.
I opened up the laptop thinking it was dust around the fans (so the warranty sticker is invalid now) but that wasn't the case. Emailed support.
Question is, is this like this for all owners of this model or is it just me and I should get a repaste/flash my bios/repair/etc. I read some posts online and some say they had issues while some say everythings fine (albeit the heat is high) so not sure what to think.
I've purchased a cooling pad but it doesn't fix things too well. Any thoughts on how to fix this? Should I maybe have gotten another laptop?

    Quote from: RX-8 on 29-January-15, 14:42:40
If you are running some CPU/GPU-intensive applications, it's quite normal to run up to 90-93 degree of Celsius. And of course it's normal that they throttled in that temperature for the protection. However, if you're just playing some PC games, usually they shouldn't generate so much heat as you mentioned and even dropped the FPS.
I'm wondering what game you are playing?
Usually the throttling only occurs when I run both FurMark & Prime95 to do some stress tests on the laptop.
Suggest you check if there're any other processes consuming your CPU/GPU while you're playing the game.
I usually run discrete computing programs on my laptops, they always get hot and run loudly even when I'm posting this reply now.
Sometimes they dropped my outlook FPS as well.
By the way, updating BIOS & EC is also suggested.
Hey, thanks for your input. Just an update: I've updated my BIOS/EC/etc. and things are a little bit better now. Apparently the new update improves the fan speeds during gaming. However the same issues are present once you turn on medium-high settings on games like Far Cry 4. Looks like I've been given a slightly broken version of the laptop when I purchased. I'll try to send it back to get it exchanged/repasted/etc. sometime this year before my warranty finishes.
I am still suspicious that this is an issue for everyone with my build just people keeping quiet because other than a poor pasting job I am not sure what the factory could have done.
I am open to suggestions and to be honest it would still be interesting to know how other people experienced gaming with this build. Something else to note, my default no-load temps are about 60-75 degrees Celcius - so there may be a problem with the pasting job done at the factory since it's always hot.

  • GS70 2PE Stealth Pro constant GPU switching with MSI Afterburner

So I searched Google like crazy but couldnt find any other threads with this issue reported.
If I have afterburner running while not playing games(general desktop usage), the power light constantly changes orange to white every second.  It seems the GPU keeps switching on and off.
Now this wouldn't be a huge issue however due to this, both fans kick in every 2-3 seconds for a duration of about 2-3 seconds then off again.  Its pretty annoying since they go full blast for that bit.  Just in general this isn't normal behavior.  If I close afterburner down, its fine again and stays white(Intel hd4000).
I read users had issues with MSI nvidia overclock tool on older notebooks but that tool is no longer present.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks for you help.

MSI Afterburner causes the card to get enabled every time it 'checks' the card to update stats like the temperature, core clock, etc....Of course it's going to work like that.
If you don't want it to do it while you're not playing games, close Afterburner.
